AMC Recaps Week of Feb. 13, 2006
Friday, February 17, 2006
Josh reeled from Erica's whispered statement, "You can't be my son." La Kane was rushed off to the hospital, so Josh asked Greg if Erica had ever had a son. Greg demanded to know why Josh would ask such a question. Josh dismissed Greg as being obsessed with Erica and went off to chat with Joe, who praised him for coming to Erica's rescue. Joe then shot quite a nasty look at Greg.
Zach tried to assure Simone that Ethan's dementia would pass, but the reality was hitting Simone that Ethan might not make it, so Simone humored her dying beau by pretending that she, too, could see his mother. Zach didn't care for this at all and lashed out at his son in an attempt to anger him into living. Simone reluctantly gave her blessing to Slater's strategy. Zach then had a change of heart and delivered a heartfelt apology to Ethan for how he'd treated him. Zach begged Ethan for his forgiveness. Ethan told Simone that he loved her and that she was all he needed. Zach urged Ethan to pull through and asked him if they could start over. "Please, son," he cried. "I will never forgive you," said Ethan before he lost consciousness. Zach screamed out, "Somebody help us!" Kendall heard him.
Tad and Jamie worked to dig the mystery person out of the rubble, the mystery person being Dixie. David and JR joined in the effort.... Tad crawled into the area where Dixie had been, but no one was there. Tad found her mask, though, and recalled that the woman wearing that mask had refused to take it off when Kendall made everyone reveal their true identities.... Julia told Di, who was helping hand out supplies, to go home and take a break.
Aidan consoled Erin, who feared that Jon and Ryan were dead.... Lily told Jon she'd rather marry him than never see him again. They heard Erin and Aidan calling for them, but Lily told Jon to stay quiet; she didn't want to go back if her dad was going to send her away. Lily concluded that their only option was to wed. Jon assured her they'd figure out a good plan, so they revealed their presence to Aidan and Erin.... Ryan called out Kendall on the fact that she only wanted to hook up with him to stick it to Zach. Kendall broke down over her terror about facing the future alone. Ryan promised Kendall that he would be there for her. He offered to move in with her if that's what she really wanted. Before she could make up her mind, they heard Tad and screamed for help.
After the latest cave-in, Adam couldn't get Krystal to breathe and feared that she was dead. He screamed for help. JR heard Adam's cries and was terrified that Babe hadn't survived. Babe, meanwhile, cried in vain for assistance.... David tended to Krystal after she and Adam were dragged from the rubble. Adam was clearly deeply affected by Krystal's dire straits.... JR and Jamie exchanged harsh words over Babe.... Babe was finally discovered. Uh-oh! Her "savior" was Janet.
The hospital was a madhouse. Anita tended to Erica, who was overjoyed to see Reggie. Reggie fibbed to Erica that Jack was okay... Greg drove Lily to the hospital to see Jack. Before she left, Jon promised her that they'd see each other again.... Reggie and Lily reunited at the hospital.... Adam was frantic to find Krystal; Brooke helped him get info from a doc, who announced to Adam that his wife didn't make it. Palmer accused Adam of being happy about Krystal's death. Brooke ordered Palmer to stop. Adam demanded to see his wife and gained access to the morgue. He tearfully pulled back the sheet to gaze upon his wife's "dead" face and swore to Krystal that he would never forget their final lovemaking, nor her. Krystal then began speaking: "It was good for me too.".... Lily visited an unconscious Jack.... Erica came to at the hospital and caught a glimpse of Greg. "You took my child," she spat.
Joe asked Tad how Erica reacted to Tad's revelation about Josh's identity.... JR and David were both heartbroken over their inability to find Babe.
An exhausted Di returned to Wildwind — and found Dixie there, waiting for her.

Dixie was freaked out at the prospect of being discovered by Tad. "Tad, I'm here," she cried meekly. Tad could barely hear her. Dix dissolved into more flashbacks about her relationship with Tad.
Palmer had no choice but to accept the terms of David's sadistic deal: David would hand over Palmer's meds if Palmer helped him get his medical license reinstated. JR shouted down to Palmer that he'd rescue him in a minute. Tad ended up falling into the hole with David and Palmer, but the trio was pulled to safety. Joe rushed in to tend to Palmer; David gloated that Joe's worst nightmare — his return to the hospital — may well come true.
JR continued to search frantically for Babe. David heard him and was greatly alarmed to learn that his daughter was still missing.... Tad reported that a new collapse had re-sealed with debris the area in which Dixie was, unbeknownst to him, buried.
Jonathan proposed to Lily that they run away and get married. Lily balked at the prospect of having sex, but Jon said they didn't have to sleep together. Lily sighed that she disliked not being "normal", which she defined as someone who wanted to have sex. Lily told Jon she didn't love him and wasn't sure if she knew how to fall in love. Jon told Lily that if he had an engagement ring to give her, it would be purple — anything to make her happy.
Adam and Krystal were trapped together in very close proximity and soon enough were embroiled in a steamy kiss. He suggested that if they were going to die, they might as well die happy. Krystal didn't take much convincing. After they did the deed, though, they became buried under even more rubble.
Erica rejected Josh's attempts to give her medical attention even though her situation was growing more dire by the moment. When she passed out, he began to perform emergency surgery on her. Rescue workers then came to their aid. Greg learned what Josh had done and gasped, "You saved her life." Erica came to and Greg told her she was on her way to the hospital. Josh dragged a camera crew over to film him telling Erica that everything would be okay. Greg was horrified by his son's showmanship. Before the paramedics took Erica away, she eked out the words, "You can't be my son."
Zach and Simone struggled to keep Ethan conscious. Simone urged Ethan to focus on her. Zach told Ethan that he loved him. Ethan said his mother's love was real and he wished he'd realized it at the time instead of focusing on his father's absence. Ethan and Simone then talked about their wedding, but it became increasingly obvious to Simone and Zach that Ethan's condition was quite severe. He grew incoherent. Zach stepped in and tried to make his son focus. "I don't know you," said Ethan. Zach offered to help him; Ethan rejected him and grew ever more weak....
Kendall told Ryan she would die still loving Zach and flipped out over the possibility of their impending deaths. The talk turned to Greenlee, and Ryan assured Kendall that he did truly love Kendall once upon a time. Kendall then suggested to Ryan that perhaps they should give their romance another stab.

Jack assured Lily that he would come to her rescue as Jonathan used math to keep the girl calm. Jack became injured while trying to aid Lily and was rushed to the hospital. Reggie followed his dad after Aidan promised to track down Erica, Lily and Kendall. Aidan reassured Erin that they'd find Jonathan, as well.... Jon and Lily discussed Jack's determination to keep them apart. Jon said he couldn't bear to be separated from Lily.
Jamie and JR continued to scour the grounds for Babe.... Opal was despondent over Palmer and Erica, but bonded with Erin, who was also missing a loved one.
Erica realized that Josh had no idea that he's her son. Josh demanded to know what Erica was keeping from him, but before she had the chance, he blasted her for judging him. Upstairs, Tad reported to Joe that Josh and Erica were still missing. "I told Erica that Josh is her son," Tad added.... Josh explained to Erica that his hunger for the spotlight was brought on by his parents, that his birth saved his mom from suicide, then quizzed La Kane about her interest in the circumstances surrounding his birth. A terrible pain struck Erica at that moment; Josh rushed to her side.
A horrified Zach looked on while Simone freaked out when Ethan became pinned under a slab of rock. Ethan and Zach began to exchange heated words over their troubled history. Ethan spat to Zach that Slater is dead to him. Zach replied simply that he loves Kendall and Ethan and has lost them both. "Go to hell," Ethan countered. Simone told the men that she was sick of listening to them fight and urged them to bury the hatchet. Just then, Ethan lost consciousness.
Kendall invited Ryan to feel the baby moving in her womb. They were awestruck. Kendall fretted about having lost both Zach and her faith in the decision she made to use her own egg to give Greenlee a child — and held Ryan responsible for her losses. Ryan said that Kendall isn't alone, as she has him. Kendall didn't find that comforting and broke down in tears over Zach. Ryan embraced her as she wept.
As Dixie listened from where she was trapped, a weakened Palmer begged David for help. David taunted Palmer, withholding pills Cortlandt desperately needed since Hayward isn't, after all, a licensed doctor anymore. Dix flashed back to her pasts with David and Palmer.... David told Palmer that if Cortlandt uses his influence to get David's medical license reinstated, David will hand Palmer his pills.... Tad heard a noise coming from where Dixie was trapped and summoned JR over. The men stood poised to uncover Dixie....

Amanda was unable to warn Jamie about Janet's handiwork in time to evacuate the ballroom, so the citizens of Pine Valley were felled when an explosion ripped through the party. Tad was the first to crawl out of the rubble. He yelled out in the hopes of locating other survivors.... Jack searched for Lily, Reggie and Erica.... Tad found JR, then Brooke.... A sobbing Janet feared for Amanda's fate.... Danielle came to and ultimately reunited with Derek and Livia.... Tad helped Opal to her feet, then aided a conscious Di... Jack located Reggie, who raced to Dani's side.... Opal became hysterical at the prospect of leaving without Palmer, but ultimately agreed to go outside.
Julia warned Tad that the gas was still leaking. Tad instructed her to get as many survivors as possible to safety.... Aidan and Brooke tried to regain entry to the ballroom, but rescue workers blocked them.... JR resisted Julia's attempts to tend to his wounds, desperate to find Babe, who came to and called out for her mama and JR.... Jack and Tad defied the rescue workers and went back into the building to search for their loved ones.
Jamie grilled Amanda about how she'd known that the ballroom was poised to go boom. Just then, JR found them and pulled them from the rubble. Once they were outside, Jamie pointed out that she either was responsible or knew who was. He accused Janet. She said her mom was nowhere near Pine Valley, then ordered him to stay away from her.
Julia was dispatched to help the rescue worker gain access to a man trapped in a small space (Stuart).
Fearing her presence would be exposed, Dixie froze when Tad came close to where she was trapped. She passed the time by flashing back to her reunion with Tad after he'd been presumed dead. Tad heard a noise coming from Dixie's location.
Kendall and Ryan were motionless, trapped together. Ryan revived, followed by Kendall. She called out for Zach, then went off on Ryan for his various and sundry betrayals. Ryan reminded Kendall that she's carrying his child, so she can't toss him out of her life. Just then, she felt their baby move.
Zach was trapped with Ethan and Simone. Zach challenged Ethan about whether he wanted him to live or die. "What do you want from me?" Zach asked. Ethan spat that he didn't care what happened to Slater. The building shifted and Ethan tried to see if they now had an escape route, but ended up getting pinned under a slab of concrete.
Erica was trapped with Josh, who disgusted Erica with his musings about what a great media event the explosion would be. Josh realized Erica was hurt, but she wouldn't let him touch her. Josh's rantings about his ambition prompted Erica to recall herself (in black-and-white) making similar statements to Nick Davis back in the day. In the present day, she stopped short of revealing to Josh that she's his mother.
Lily counted to try to stay calm. Jonathan did his best to offset her panic, but she was flooded with memories over the hurt he'd once inflicted on her. She regained her equilibrium when he reminded her of the dance they'd shared. Jack was on the verge of coming to their rescue when another part of the edifice collapsed.

Janet gazed lovingly at an unconscious Amanda, whom she'd drugged, and sighed that when Mandy wakes up, her enemies will have been taken care of, courtesy of the "deadly gas" she'd leaked into the ballroom. Amanda came to and Janet assured her that everything was fine.
Lily told Jack that Jonathan was her boyfriend whether he liked it or not. Ryan told Lily and Jon that they have no choice but to end their relationship, but they both refused to comply with orders. Ryan pleaded with Jon to come to his senses. Jon told Lily that he loves her, but doesn't want his baggage to affect her. "Stop listening to your brother," she responded.... Jack thanked Ryan for getting Jon to back away from Lily....
Babe asked JR to guarantee her joint custody in the event of a divorce. "Don't even think about it, JR," seethed an arriving Kendall. Babe told Kendall to stay out of her personal life. Kendall then overheard Ryan filling in Jack about Kendall's look at the real Zach Slater. She furiously ordered Ryan to keep his nose out of her business.
Jamie searched frantically for Amanda. Brooke pressed Jamie to tell her why he was so concerned, but he gave her the brush-off.
As a hidden Dixie watched, Adam went off on Di, whom Tad defended. When Dixie overheard Di mention that she took over her sister's identity, she fled in shock. Di was affected by Adam's diatribe against her, but Tad assured Di that he believes in her. Di asked Tad how Dixie would react if she returned and found them together. Tad dismissed the notion as too ridiculous to ponder. "She's dead and gone," he pointed out. Dixie spied Tad and Di's smooch.
Julia told Zach that she feels sorry for Kendall and took him to task for causing the blackout. "I'm a monster," he shrugged.
Erica reeled from her chat with Tad, in which Martin revealed that Josh is her son. In the ballroom, Erica encountered Josh and Greg. Josh implored Erica not to buy into Greg's lies about him, but La Kane didn't fall for Josh's explanations. Greg lamented that he wanted his beloved son back. "Your beloved son," scoffed Erica. "Is he really?" Josh interjected that Greg's idea of love is maniacal control. When Greg put his hand on Erica, she recoiled and ordered him never to touch her.
Kendall demanded the attention of the partygoers. Once she had it, she announced that it was time for everyone's masks to come off. Everybody but Dixie dropped their masks. Simone harassed her to remove her disguise with Tad mere feet away, but Ethan dragged his fiancée away.... Stuart and Marian congratulated Kendall on her upcoming wedding.
JR told Babe he wouldn't sign her prenup. "You love me enough to marry me but you don't love me enough to trust me?" she wept, declaring that she wouldn't let him keep her away from her son.
Erica asked Josh to leave her alone with Greg; he wanted to be present for anything she had to say to his dad. "You do have a right," she nodded.
In the basement, Amanda caught on to the fact that Janet was trying to stall their departure and she grilled Janet about what she was hiding. "Mommy has planned some real fireworks!" Janet gushed. Amanda shoved past Janet and ran out to warn Jamie. "You have to get everybody out here!" Amanda cried to Jamie. But it was too late: An explosion rocketed through the ballroom, destroying everything in its path. All the beloved Pine Valley-ites at the ball lay strewn amidst the rubble. Tad was the first to regain consciousness. "Anybody alive?" he cried out. No one responded.
