Stuart lured Babe to the boathouse. There, she was stunned to encounter JR, who she thought was still in jail. She warned him that she wasn't going to buy his apologies this time. JR agreed that he didn't deserve another chance. Stuart got Babe to agree to hear JR out and left them alone. Heavy with emotion, JR admitted that he had tried to kill her. "I don't know how I ever got to that point," he said. To make the case that this epiphany was genuine, JR described to Babe the eavesdropping tour that Stuart had taken him on. She remained skeptical ,but he promised to take responsibility for his actions and make things right between them. JR told Babe that he had enlisted in an out-patient detox program. "I'm impressed," Babe said. He asked her if she was willing to give their marriage another go.

Zach was overjoyed when Kendall moved her hand, but Julia warned him the movement might have been random. Zach urged Kendall to move her finger again; Kendall willed herself to comply.... Bianca begged Ryan not to force his way into Kendall's room, certain her sister wouldn't want that. Erica sided with Ryan. Ryan told Derek, who had assembled a SWAT team, that he was going in as soon as Julia exited. Binks got him to take a moment to think things through and reminded him that declaring war on Zach could come with major consequences. Ryan reminded Bianca that Kendall never told either of them that she was willing to die for her son, but Binks countered that she did tell that to Babe and Zach. "I am trying to save Kendall," Ryan began, "because I love her." He looked shocked by the realization that he was still in love with his ex. "I'm too late, aren't I," he sighed to a stunned Bianca... Zach threw Julia out of Kendall's room when she pointed out that Kendall might never recover. A tear fell down Kendall's cheek as she pondered her prognosis. Zach talked to her about their future to drive her spirits up.... Stuart came to the hospital and consoled Erica.... As Bianca and Erica looked on, Ryan knocked on the door to Kendall's room and told a stunned Zach that he was there not to barge in but to join him. "I will not take the baby," he promised. "We will do this Kendall's way." Zach allowed Ryan to enter. Erica was not pleased.

Reggie looked on as Jack blasted Aidan for failing to track down Lily. Jon, meanwhile, took Lily on a sight-seeing jaunt around New York. When Aidan reported that a loud argument had been heard in Lily's now-vacant hotel room, Jack and Reggie pinned the blame on Jonathan. Erin walked in on Jack's anti-Jon rant and defended her brother. Aidan noted that if Jack gave his consent to Jonathan and Lily's relationship, she would come home. Reggie advised Jack against such a move. "Do it," Jack instructed Aidan to get the word to Jon and Lily that he had changed his tune about their relationship.... Jon was overtaken by a gruesome headache and feared that his tumor was back. She soothed him and he felt better. Lily told Jon she loved him and said yes when Jonathan proposed marriage.... Jack told Reggie that his attitude shift was only temporary: Once Lily was home safely, all bets were off.

Erica and Bianca had a tearful reunion outside of Kendall's hospital room. La Kane was surprised to hear that Zach had let her visit Kendall, but her good mood darkened when Binks revealed that she hadn't tried to talk Zach into allowing the C-section. Erica was offended and took Bianca to task. Mother and daughter's bickering grew louder; Ryan forced Erica to back off as Binks raced off in tears. A desperate Erica asked Josh about the experimental technique he'd told her about and a genuinely sympathetic Josh broke the news that it was no longer a viable option. He told Erica that he felt an odd bond with Kendall. Erica praised Josh for the positive changes in his personality... Ryan tried to comfort a sobbing Bianca, who wondered if she was responsible for Kendall's current suffering. With a renewed sense of purpose, Ryan returned to Erica's side with Bianca and Derek and announced that it was time to do this Derek's way: by force.

Julia held a gun on Zach and ordered him to open the door to Kendall's room. He essentially dared her to shoot him; she couldn't do it and lowered her weapon, much to Kendall's relief. Julia then tried to reason with Zach, pointing out that Spike had a good shot at survival if he was delivered now. Julia was moved by Zach's desire to keep the promise he'd made to Kendall and sang Slater's praises to his wife.... Unaware that Derek and his men were preparing to storm the room, Zach asked Kendall for a sign that he was doing what she wanted. "Julia, she moved!" Zach gasped.

Dixie and Di met up at Wildwind. Dixie informed Di that Tad needs her. Di was skeptical, noting that Tad would likely slam the door in her face. Del joined them and Dixie divulged to her siblings that Kate was alive. They were shocked and, in Di's case, appalled. Del offered to beat Kate's whereabouts out of Greg. Di railed against Dixie for what she'd done to Tad, but Dixie believed Di was underestimating the complexity of the situation. Di agreed that she was no expert on the sacrifices mothers make for their children but remained aghast at the hurt Dixie had inflicted on her son and daughter. Dixie took her leave.

Tad strode into Greg's room and demanded to know where his daughter is. Turning a deaf ear to Greg's claims that Dixie is delusional, Tad punched the doctor and threatened to teach him the true meaning of pain. Greg maintained that by giving Kate to adoptive parents, he had simply carried out Dixie's wishes. He denied that he had manipulated Dixie into signing the adoption papers. Tad vowed to stop Greg's mad campaign, but Greg was confident that no one would buy Tad's accusations and didn't believe that Tad would publicly expose Josh's true identity. Tad resorted to beating the doc until he said he'd pony up the info. Tad warned Greg that he'd kill him if he sent him on a wild good chase. Greg provided Tad with an address and after he left, Greg swore that Tad would never lay another finger on him again.

Stuart sneaked JR through the park so that his nephew (to whom he was handcuffed) could get a glimpse of Little Adam. Instead, he got an eyeful of Babe and Josh, who had just shared a kiss. Babe decried Josh as clueless, but he insisted he wanted a genuine shot with her. JR wanted to bolt, but Stuart made him stay and continue eavesdropping. JR was brought up short when Babe made it perfectly plain to Josh that she's in love with her husband and intends to stand by him. Stuart encouraged JR to believe in his wife's devotion. Jamie interrupted Josh and Babe's confab and got Josh to take his leave. Once alone with Babe, Jamie told her that he still loves JR — a confession his brother overheard. When Jamie said he'd do anything to have JR back, it got to JR. Jamie and Babe were joined by Winifred and Little A. JR longed to be with his son but Stuart said it was time to go and dragged him off.

Krystal chased after Adam in the Chandler courtyard. Adam expressed his intent to fetch JR out of jail and encouraged Krystal to stop him from bailing his son out yet again. Krystal told Adam she couldn't intervene this time. Adam acknowledged that if he really loved JR, he had to let him suffer the consequences of his actions. Stuart marched JR to a spot where, unseen by Adam, he could hear his dad tell Krystal about all the ways he'd failed JR. "I want a chance to love JR unconditionally," an emotional Adam told Krystal.

A furious Tad walked out on Dixie after she revealed that he'd given their baby up for adoption because she didn't believe he'd be capable of providing Kate with enough love. Dix followed and Tad told her to get out of his house and his life. She insisted that she had abandoned him in an effort to protect him and their children, but he was unmoved. She filled in Tad about her efforts over the years to track down Greg. Dixie vowed to Tad that she would never stop trying to find their daughter. JR, who had been brought to this new destination by Stuart, reeled from the realization that his sister was alive. As Dixie spoke to Tad about how much she had missed JR while she was gone, JR was deeply affected by her pain. A saddened Tad told Dixie that her attempt to protect him had failed, then walked away.

Di stood back in the hospital as Derek told Ryan it was time to break into Kendall's room. Ryan reported to Derek that Zach had let someone else into Kendall's room, someone he couldn't say no to. The mystery person? Bianca! "Is it really you?" wondered Kendall when she heard her sister's voice. Binks sat down at Kendall's bedside and when she kissed her hand, Kendall felt it and knew her sister was really there.... Ryan urged Derek to give Bianca time; he reluctantly agreed. Di approached Ryan and asked how Kendall was doing. Di tried to make Ryan see that JR didn't intend to hurt Kendall and that Dixie was partly responsible; Ryan pointed out that Di, too, created emotional devastation for JR.... Bianca pleaded with Kendall to wake up. Zach interrupted to tell Bianca to go ahead and fight for her sister; Kendall begged Binks not to fight for her. Bianca told Zach that she was going to stay out of it.... Julia went in to check on Kendall; Bianca exited and told Ryan that she had not tried to talk Zach out of blocking the C-section because she didn't feel right choosing sides. Inside Kendall's room, Julia held a gun on Zach and announced, "It's over, Zach."

While suffering cardiac arrest, Greg tried to goad David into saving his life by trash-talking Dixie. David snorted that the tactic wouldn't work, so Greg should start talking. Their battle of wills continued until Amanda charged in and, spotting Greg's distress, begged David to help him. David had no choice and revived the doc. After David left, Amanda gushed to Greg that they were lucky David was there to save him, then informed him that she'd changed her mind about serving as a surrogate mother. Greg got to work on changing her mind back to where he wanted it to be and before long, Amanda was back on the surrogate train.

Jonathan and Lily woke up in the New York hotel room (they'd slept across the room from each other). Meanwhile, Aidan called Erin and reported that Jonathan had lost him by knocking him out. "Now Jonathan and Lily are both lost," she sighed.... Jon and Lily decided to spend a day on the town to determine if the city was a good place for them to live. By the time Aidan showed up, their hotel room was empty.

At Fusion, Simone and Danielle did their best to ignore Babe. Babe took offense and defended herself against the girls when they accused her of having perjured herself when she testified on Zach's behalf. Erin stood up for Babe and Dani and Simone agreed to back off for the time being. Josh paid Babe a visit and she slapped him across the face. Josh told Babe he's attracted to her but knows that she's taken. She agreed to let him take her on a picnic, where he planted a kiss on her.

JR stomped around his jail cell. Stuart came to visit and JR moaned to him that the rest of the family had turned their backs on him. JR pleaded with Stuart to post his bail. Stuart wasn't eager to unleash JR back into society.

On the grounds of the home she'd once shared with Tad, Dixie recalled happier times with Tad and the boys. Tad met up with her and Dixie told him she needed to tell him the truth about what happened to Kate. She explained that she didn't have the guts to tell him before now. Dix told Tad that Kate was alive, "somewhere out there, growing up with other parents." Tad pulled Dixie into a hug, trying to comfort her because he thought she was delusional. Dix wept with relief, thinking Tad was going to help her find Kate. Tad then made it clear to her that he thought she was unable to accept the reality of Kate's death. Dixie insisted that Greg made up the whole story about Kate's demise. "Why won't you believe me?" she cried. Tad then showed Dixie a copy of Kate's death certificate, which Joe had retrieved. Dix spat that the document was a fake and ranted at Tad for taking Greg's word over hers. Dix then revealed to Tad that Josh is Erica and Jeff's son and she was relieved when he disclosed that he already knows that her claim about Josh is true. He then grew stern in tone and demanded that she tell him everything about the moment Kate was born. Dix warned Tad that he was going to hate her once she told him. In a flashback, viewers learned how Greg manipulated a postpartum Dixie into putting Kate up for adoption of by convincing her that even if Dixie died, Kate would be better off with strangers than with Tad. Tad flew into a rage.

Greg woke up to find David had broken into his home. "What did you do with Dixie's daughter?" questioned David. Greg ordered him to leave. David then revealed that he'd poisoned the doc, who would need David's help to pull through. Help David would gladly provide in exchange for info about Kate. Greg went into cardiac arrest.

In JR's jail cell, Dixie revealed to her son that he had unknowingly shot her when he held Krystal hostage. He gaped at her wound. Dix explained that she was simply trying to get through to him and that it wasn't too late for him to turn his life around. JR branded himself a lost cause; Dix passionately disagreed. Before she left, Dixie said, "I do love you, JR." When Dix returned to her hotel suite, David was waiting for her and swore that he would help her best Greg and bring Kate back home. Dixie wouldn't confirm his theory about Greg and the baby but he was undeterred.

A comatose Kendall was freaked out by the sound of a gun firing. From inside her room, Zach warned the SWAT team that was assembling on the other side of the door that he would shoot anyone who tried to prevent him from protecting Kendall and Spike. Erica begged Zach to reconsider. Tad arrived and dragged Erica away; she filled him in on the situation. Brooke arrived to offer her help to Erica ... Ryan instructed Derek to hang back, insisting that Zach would never hurt Kendall. Derek reluctantly agreed. Through the door, Ryan conveyed to Zach that the cops were gone. Zach came closer to the door and told Ryan he'd have to go through Zach to get to the baby. Eventually, Zach agreed to let Julia come inside to examine Kendall. Joe passed this news along to Tad, Brooke and Erica. Joe then delivered a fax to Tad ... Julia told Ryan she would try to disarm Zach if the opportunity presented itself. When Zach let her in, Erica darted inside as well. Zach allowed her to speak to Kendall. Kendall tried to communicate to Erica that Zach was carrying out her wishes. Julia examined Kendall and Spike's heartbeat reverberated through the room. Erica lunged for the gun, but Zach overpowered her. Erica and Julia left the room and Ryan wrestled with the realization that Spike was still not ready to be delivered ... Zach opened up to Kendall about his past, claiming that his life began when he met her and began loving her.

In New York, Jon received a flyer that helped him figure out where Lily's hotel was located. At said hotel, sleazy Terry asked Lily if she'd ever had sex and suggested that they both undress to help her get more comfortable with physical contact. He began to disrobe and talked her into doing the same. When he tried to help her take her shirt off, she panicked at his touch. He continued to pressure her. Meanwhile, Jon encountered a private eye who had been hired by Terry's wife to track down Terry. Jon made it upstairs and pounded on the door to Lily's room as she was trying to evade Terry's advances. He burst in and Terry knocked him unconscious before bolting. When Jon revived, he crawled over to Lily and tried to help her calm down. In time, he succeeded.

JR received another visitor: Ryan, who came down hard on JR for putting him in the position of having to choose between his son's life and Kendall's. Ryan vowed to take care of JR if the law failed to do so.

Dixie called Tad and told him she needed to see him to talk about Kate.
