Before Lily's court hearing, Ryan went to see Erica and Jack. He tried to convince Jack to give up the petition, but to no avail. After Ryan left, Erica tried to get through to her husband, pointing out that she was doing everything in her power to win her son's love, while he was pushing his daughter away. Jack simply told his wife he had a hearing to get to and left. Over at Jonathan and Lily's apartment, Erin tried to prepare Lily what her court hearing would be like. Amanda arrived and gave Lily a good luck charm: Trevor's old coin. After Lily and Amanda headed to the court house, special Jonathan morphed back into regular Jonathan and lamented about the situation to his sister. When Ryan arrived there, he quickly realized Jonathan was indeed back to his old self. Though stunned, Ryan was happy to have his little brother back.

Once Lily's hearing began, Julia, Jack, Amanda and Erin all testified. The first time Lily took the stand things went well, but when Jack had his lawyer cross-examined his daughter, things got ugly and Lily quickly became agitated. Jonathan begged the court to stop and a brief recess was granted. While Amanda tended to Lily, Jonathan and Jack had a powwow alone. "It's over," stutter-free Jonathan said. "You win, Jack." Meanwhile, back at Jack's home with Erica, someone with a large duffel bag was breaking in.

A tipsy Tad (in the morning hours at that!) told David that Dixie was sleeping with Zach. "All these years we thought one of us would be the winner," Tad shrugged. "Zach's the winner. And his trophy is Dixie Cooney." JR happened to walk up in time to catch the end of Tad's comment. After David left, recovering alcoholic JR took Tad's booze away from him and instructed his former stepdad to win Dixie back. "Together forever isn't what it used to be," Tad told the boy and advised JR to protect his mom now. JR reminded Tad about how close they seemed on the beach. "I love your mother. I always have, I always will..." Tad sighed. Then he walked out on JR, stating he wished none of this had ever happened, but it had. Meanwhile, David pounded on Dixie's door demanding answers. Over at Kendall's condo, Kendall was flabbergasted when Zach disclosed his plan for freedom: "Prove Tad right — Dixie and I have an affair." If they were sleeping together in a hotel at the time of Madden's murder, they couldn't have offed him. "If you didn't kill Madden, then why do you need an alibi?" Kendall wondered, but told her husband she loved him and would do whatever it took to help — even if it meant hating him for having an "affair" with Dixie.

JR dropped Babe off at Fusion and was less than pleased to see Josh working there. Babe wanted the two men to shake and make up. The indeed shook hands, but instant friends they were not. After her hubby left, Babe was impressed by Josh's business skills. (What DOESN'T this man do? He'll probably be a lawyer next week.) Erica and Kendall later arrived to chat with Josh, but were stunned when they walked in and saw Babe giving Josh a congratulatory hug.

What color was Babe's iPod?

On the Fusion rooftop, Babe embraced a forlorn Josh (which Erin spotted). Josh told Babe about his awkward encounter with Erica and Jeff. When JR showed up at Fusion, Erin told him that she was on the roof and tried to stop him from going upstairs. JR could tell from her behavior that his wife was with Josh and ranted to Erin about his Josh-related insecurities. He asked Erin for advice.... Babe urged Josh to give his parents another chance, then offered him a job at Fusion. When they came downstairs, Josh announced that Babe had just hired him. JR scored points with Babe by not blowing a gasket; Erin was impressed, too, and volunteered to expose Josh's true colors to Babe by seducing him herself. She convinced JR to accept her offer, then began to sidle up to Josh as the Chandlers went home together.

Krystal asked Adam to change the subject when he tried to figure out the identity of the married woman Tad was sleeping with. Krystal denied knowing anything about Tad's affairs, so Adam dropped it. Colby then barged in, freaking out about damage done to her wardrobe by Sydney's laundry efforts. "I want her gone!" barked Colby. Adam told them to discuss the matter like adults. Krystal warned Colby to shape up or her Sweet 16 was off. Once alone with Colby, Adam warned her that trash-talking Syd wasn't going to fly with him. Colby promised to behave if Adam funded her birthday party. Adam laughed in her face. When he went back inside the house, Colby called Jesse McCartney's record label, pretending to be a close personal friend.

After Zach punched Tad at the yacht club, he warned Martin that he wasn't going to let Tad put Dixie in jail. Tad tossed off some threats of his own before the men backed away from each other. Krystal met up with Tad and got the bad news that Dixie had spotted them at Tad's the night they had sex. Krystal wondered why Tad was so vitriolic toward Dixie. Tad assured Krystal that he would get Dixie to keep her mouth shut.

Kendall asked Dixie point-blank if she was in love with Zach. "I could be," shot back Dixie. "What are you gonna do about it?" Kendall ordered Dixie to stay away from her husband. Dix told Kendall she knew Zach was devoted to his marriage. Zach came by the hotel room in what Dixie wryly declared to be perfect timing. Kendall bolted; Zach asked Dixie to see the situation from his wife's point of view. After Zach left, Dixie sat on her bed and looked through Greg's pictures of the kids he'd placed with childless couples. Meanwhile, Zach got back to the condo, where Kendall was waiting for him. They embraced tenderly. Kendall told Zach that whatever it took to get the charges against him dropped, she'd do it. "There is a way," he sighed. "It won't be easy."

At the Yacht Club, Erica and Jeff requested a chance to speak with Josh, but Josh wanted no part in it. After a little pep talk with Babe (which JR was definitely not pleased about), Josh finally agreed to chat with his parents. Josh went off on how neither of his parents needed a child they didn't even want, but Erica quieted him and told him the real story: she "terminated" her pregnancy without Jeff's knowledge. She went on to explain that she cared about Josh very much now and wanted to be a part of his life. It was all too much for Josh to absorb right then so he left. Jeff advised Erica to give the situation some time.

After her powwow with Josh, Babe and JR headed back to Chandler mansion where Babe reconciled with her son. Once alone, JR pledged his love to Babe, but things got sticky when JR asked Babe to kick Josh out of her life completely. "No," stated Babe, who also told her husband that Josh was in love with her. "You either trust me or you don't," Babe said, and left JR alone to decide for himself. Later, Babe ran into Josh. Meanwhile, Jamie took Julia back to his place where the two had sex. (And no, they didn't do it in a closet.) Unfortunately, Jamie forgot to shut his door and Brooke walked in and caught the two. (Talk about awkward!) Jamie got a giggle out of it, but his mom wasn't amused. She was especially upset when she discovered her son and the older Julia were an actual item.

Back at the Yacht Club, Dixie sat down with Adam and Krystal for lunch. Dixie was confused about Adam's quest to keep her out of jail, but her ex-hubby explained he was doing it for JR's sake. Things went downhill quickly when Tad arrived. When he wondered what happened to the woman he fell in love with, Adam quipped, "Oh, my God. We're going to be here all night." Dixie sighed and stated she too wondered what happened to the man she fell in love with; he was acting like an ass now. Tad blamed her for abandoning him and giving away their daughter. The verbal war continued when he announced to everyone that Dixie was sleeping with Zach. "You really want to do this?" Dixie asked, then let it slip that it was Tad who didn't respect marriage vows, not her. Adam immediately wondered who the married woman was that Tad was involved with — not knowing it was his own wife. After the Chandlers left, Tad demanded Dixie leave Krystal out of their problems. Dixie walked out on her ex after he cruelly told her she'd be better off thinking of ways to get out of lethal injection. (Ouch!)

In the courthouse, Zach called Tad a liar after Kendall overheard him say Zach slept with Dixie. Tad explained to Mrs. Slater that he spied her husband with his ex kissing with his own eyes. After Tad left, Kendall demanded that Zach tell her Tad was a "lying son of a bitch." Zach assured his wife he didn't sleep with Dixie — but she did kiss him. "I'm so sick of that stupid little bitch!" Kendall erupted. Kendall wanted Zach to discontinue his friendship with Dixie — ASAP. After Kendall left, Zach went to the Yacht Club and promptly punched Tad out. And later, Dixie opened her door to find Kendall in front of her, demanding to know if Dixie was in love with Zach. "What if I am?" Dix wondered.

Ryan and Kendall prepared for Dixie and Zach's bail hearing. Del told Di nobody should do time for murdering "skuzzball" Greg. Di asked Tad why he wasn't helping Aidan investigate the murder. "It's not my job," he scoffed, allowing that they might actually be guilty. Dixie and Zach were brought into court. They were wearing disheveled street clothes and allowed to mingle with the spectators! Dixie wanted to pursue those kid pictures as her best lead to Kate. Livia sought dismissal for lack of evidence, but the judge ordered them bound over for trial. Livia sought low bail, but the prosecutor's arguments of wealth and resourcefulness got them $2 million each, which Ryan and Kendall posted for Zach. Outside, Aidan told Di he found Annie, who is connected to Erin, who knows about Di and Aidan. Dixie was shocked to make bail until she realized Uncle Palmer posted it so she can look for Kate. Derek asked Tad why he turned on Dixie. Tad recapped her deceptions, wrapping up by revealing, "she started sleeping with Zach Slater." Then he realized Kendall overheard.

At the country club, Erica breakfasted with Myrtle and fretted that her son might be dead. Erica asked sympathetic Myrtle for advice on setting things right with Josh. Meanwhile, JR, Julia and Jamie found Josh and Babe sleeping on their beach. Babe was ecstatic to see JR, while Jamie and Julia were skeptical of the cause of the crash. Josh admitted taking Babe against her will. JR warned Josh he's going to pay for messing with his wife. Josh countered with, "You're the one who wanted to kill her." Josh asked if the police arrested Erica, and JR said they grabbed his mother and Zach. In PV, Erica vowed to never try to control Josh's life. "I just want him to live," she cried, just as Jeff walked in with news of the rescue! Erica vowed to make everything perfect. Josh offered to stay on the island, but Babe insisted he return to settle things with Erica and Jeff. On the boat, JR forgave Babe for getting into this mess and asked if she still loved him. She kissed him as Josh glared. Later, the Chandlers were reunited at the club. Dixie threatened Josh with arrest, but Erica defended him.

Earlier in the day, Sydney thanked the Chandlers for the summer job. While Winnie consoled Krystal over the missing Babe, Sydney busted on Colby's weight and dumped French toast in her lap. Winnie broke up the catfight, and Krystal interrupted with news that Babe was rescued! Winnie and Krystal warned the girls to get along, or Sydney would be fired and Colby's Sweet 16 party canceled. Sydney offered to bury the hatchet, but Colby balked.

Jackson arrived to explain the incompetency petition to Lily, but she was already upset. Lily insisted she's competent: She's a married woman with a job. Jonathan backed her and challenged Jack, who said Jonathan is pretending to be a "sweet, innocent boy." Then he admitted trying to break them up and called Jonathan a liar. Jack offered to tear up the papers if she would leave Jonathan and come home. He explained that "good Joanthan does not exist," and warned his daughter, "You're being fooled." Lily insisted she's "normal," but Jack said Jonathan is fooling her just like Terry did. Jack noted the marriage was never consummated, so it can be annulled, and she flipped out. Jack warned Jonathan that she's going to more upset when she learns the truth. "I love her," Jonathan insisted, showing him her M.I.T. essay, which impressed Jack. Jonathan defended Lily's level of "normal" and promised not to "destroy her." Jack challenged him to do the right thing. "I'm not the bad man this time," Jonathan claimed. "You are." Jack told him to walk away "like a man" and left. Lily asked Jonathan to hold her. "You can touch me," she sobbed. "You don't scare me."

The theme of today's episode was nightmares. (Read on and you'll understand.) Kendall wondered why Tad was so certain Zach and Dixie had killed Madden. He claimed he didn't know. The only thing he did know was that Dixie turned to Zach instead of her family and noted the connection they had since day one. Tad advised her to go home. If she continued to pry about Zach and Dixie's relationship, she surely wouldn't like what she finds. Kendall returned home where Ryan managed to get her to relax. After finally closing her eyes, Kendall had a nightmare of Dixie and Zach burying Madden and woke up convinced that her husband was the culprit. The next morning, Ryan told Kendall it was time for her husband's arraignment.

In her cell, Dixie dreamed of her missing Kate, but awoke back to her actual nightmare: she was in jail and her daughter was still missing. Zach was immediately worried about his pal and questioned her dream. Dixie admitted that maybe she should let go of reality and live in a dream world. At least then she'd be with Kate. Zach insisted she continue to fight, but their conversation was interrupted by Tad, who spilled the beans about his chat with Kendall. Tad told his ex he believed she indeed killed Madden. Zach and Dix stuck by their story that they were set up and then Dixie lamented that she thought she and Tad had made progress. They were almost like a family on the beach. "I had hope," Tad shrugged, "until you two buried it." Tad warned Zach it was his job to take care of Dixie now and left. As he walked away, the camera panned to Derek, who overheard the entire conversation.

Jonathan took Lily home to a surprise: flowers for their anniversary. The couple then worked on Lily's MIT application, where Lily wrote that Jonathan made her feel normal and for the first time in her life she was happy being her. (Hey Jon boy, that thing you are feeling is guilt!) Lily asked him if he go could back to pre-brain tumor Jonathan, would he? Jonathan replied he wasn't normal until he found her. Jonathan later had a nightmare where he came home and discovered a note from Jack, demanding he tell Lily the truth. When Lily questioned what her husband's bad dream was about, Jonathan merely told her that he dreamed she had left him. She assured him it wouldn't come true. Later, Lily was served with the papers that were trying to declare her incompetent.

When JR thought he saw something in the water, he jumped overboard. Jamie promptly stripped his shirt off and jumped in after his brother. Thankfully, Jamie rescued JR. Jamie and Julia couldn't convince JR to go inside and rest, but managed to get him to lay down out by the boat's railing. Once asleep, JR had a nightmare that Josh told him Babe didn't make it, but as he woke up, Julia and Jamie informed him they spotted a promising island. Meanwhile, Babe pulled away from her kiss with Josh and told him, "No more." She was flattered and felt close to him, but she loved her husband. They finally agreed to be friends — and nothing more — once they were rescued. Later, Babe dreamed that JR found her and woke her with a kiss. Meanwhile, Josh watched her shiver in her sleep and carefully wrapped his arms around her, even as she muttered, "JR." As the sun began to rise, JR, Jamie and Julia arrived on the island — to find Josh and Babe asleep in each other's arms.
