ATWT Recaps Week of Dec. 12, 2005

"Do you have any idea how happy I am?" Meg asked Dusty. (Apparently she somehow could tell he was happy to see her....) However, she confessed to being worried about what Jennifer staying in town will mean for her and Dusty — will he want to play Daddy? Dusty assured Meg, "I'm with you," and gave her a gift: a necklace that Dusty said meant "I won't abandon you." Meg got a call from the hospital and had to go, so Dusty left Jen voicemail saying he would drop by to check on her.

Gwen and Will refused to leave Jennifer's place unless Barbara let Gwen hold the baby. Gwen feared "Billy" wouldn't understand the changes, and she couldn't walk away without saying goodbye. Barbara handed Johnny over for some alone time, and Gwen cooed and cried over the tot. "You're gonna get a new mom," she sobbed. "Better than me; but she'll never love you more than me." Gwen give the child back to Bar-bar, and vowed never to forget him. Then she remembered the funeral for "John Dustin Kasnoff," and realized that was her baby they put in the ground. Gwen couldn't deal with going home to Billy's stuff and took off alone.

BJ wanted to be alone with Katie "at home" (Mike and Katie's place), but she said it didn't feel right. BJ revealed that he had called Henry (yeah, right), who promised to come home at some point so she could have closure. BJ and Katie raised a toast of chocolate milk to "One door closing and another opening." He suggested a fresh start — so he started burning Katie's pictures of Mike, eventually cajoling her into burning some, too. Then BJ promised they'd "finish off" Henry. Meanwhile, Olga tried to inject Mike with a mysterious hypodermic needle ("Soon you sleep with fishes," she cackled), but when Maddie arrived Mike awoke and Olga fled. Mike revealed that Katie was back in town with BJ, but Maddie still feared for Henry. Mike assured her he would investigate as soon as he got well. Olga returned to the wine cellar, where Henry massaged her shoulders and sweet-talked her, prompting her to kiss him! "Take woman!" she pronounced as she pounced on the prostrate Henry. He balked at the "damp and nasty" setting. When he suggested taking it upstairs, she opened the door, and he made a break for it.

Jen confronted Paul about his deception, and when he didn't deny it she knew. "There was a reason," he blustered, but Jen scoffed that it had better entail something as serious as death. Then she recalled that he tried to talk her into flying away without her son last night, and was sickened. Paul swore he didn't switch babies, it was Craig — and Craig can't be stopped by jail. Jen demanded to know how long he hid the truth from her, and figured out that he knew since August, when he confronted Craig over putting Rosanna in hospital. "How could you hate me that much?" she wailed. She didn't fear Craig; this was all about "You and Craig; you and Rosanna," she hissed. Paul tried to cover and let slip that "we" wanted to tell the truth, and Jen realized Emily knew, too. Paul insisted the little lie snowballed out of control and tried to apologize. Jennifer said he could never make up for what he cost her: She lost months of her son's life, wound up a junkie and lost her mind. "I am still your brother," he declared. "No, you're not," she countered, and walked out on him. Then a cop cuffed Paul to bring him to his arraignment (already?), but Will burst in and demanded to know why Paul did it. Will probably wanted to choke his brother, but was so flustered that he merely put his hands on Paul's shoulders.

Casey got accepted to the University of Wisconsin, and was eager to go and put Gwen and her kid behind him. Margo was elated, and Casey was just interested in pledging a frat. She advised him to live in a dorm freshman year. A completely distraught Gwen arrived to tell Casey that "Billy" wasn't their baby, so that’s why the paternity test was wrong. She's not crazy, she insisted: "It just wasn't our baby," she sobbed. "Our baby's dead."

BJ and Katie visited Mike in the hospital after he was hit by a car. Mike insisted to talk to Katie and was sick to see Katie and BJ holding hands. Katie said goodbye to BJ then snuck back into Mike's room and they kissed. Katie insisted on getting close to BJ so they could find Henry. Mike told Katie that BJ tried to kill Maddie and he saved her but pushing her out of the way of the car. Katie promised Mike she would let BJ down easy — and in public. She kissed him and took off. At Java, BJ told Olga that Mike needed to die today. After Katie left Mike's hospital room, Olga — who was dressed up as a nurse — prepared to inject Mike with something.

Hal and Barbara talked about how they should have trusted Jennifer's instincts and Barbara hoped Paul and Emily rot in jail for what they did. Barbara didn't want to tell Jen the truth about Paul and Emily just yet but Hal insisted. Jennifer came out with Billy and wanted to tell Paul the wonderful news. Hal said there was something he had to tell her but Jennifer sensed it was bad and wanted to be happy in the moment. Hal relented and said he had to go back to the station. Jennifer told Barbara that Hal wasn't over Emily. "Losing Emily is like winning the lottery," hissed Babs. "Your dad just doesn't know it yet." Jennifer then felt bad for Gwen and Will.

Dusty told Meg that he brought Billy/Johnny to Jennifer and wished Jen knew about Meg's help in returning her son. They brought a present over to Jen's. Dusty held Johnny while Jen opened the gift — a snowsuit for the baby. Meg felt like the odd person out while Dusty and Jen bonded over the baby. Jen then wondered how the past blood tests could have been wrong. Dusty broke the news to Jennifer that Paul kept her away from her baby and tampered with the blood test. Dusty said he caught Paul and Emily trying to destroy evidence proving that Billy/Johnny was Jennifer's. Jennifer couldn't believe it. Barbara returned and Jennifer asked her if it was true. Jen realized it was, thanked Dusty and Meg for telling her the truth and took off to confront Paul. Meg and Dusty returned home and Meg said she wanted to look towards their future. He carried her off and they made love.

In their respective jail cells, Emily and Paul talked about Jennifer. A disgusted Tom showed up and told Emily she will lose custody of Daniel. She begged him not to do it and Tom spat back, "Keep a mother away from her child? Watch me." Tom stormed off and Paul promised her she wouldn't lose Daniel. Emily reminded him that they were in jail, so being reunited with Daniel was a stretch. Paul offered to say that he forced Emily to do everything and couldn't believe she turned down Hal's offer for immunity if she testified against Paul. Emily refused to quit and Hal overheard them talking before he took her away to her arraignment. Jennifer showed up and said, "Tell me Paul. Tell me what you did."

Will and Gwen returned to Jack and Carly's all in love and blissfully unaware of the bad news awaiting them. Gwen couldn't wait to see Billy and Carly looked like she was ready to throw up. It was painfully quiet as Jack said that Billy wasn't there and Carly added that he was with Jennifer, his real mother. Jack said Craig switched the babies but Gwen wouldn't believe it. They told him that Hal showed up with a court order and took the baby. It was heartbreaking to see Gwen run upstairs and then back down, calling for Billy the entire time. Gwen insisted this was a cruel revenge trick Carly was pulling, "You never wanted me to have him so you just gave him away." Carly begged Gwen to tell her what she could do to make this better and Gwen demanded to know where her baby was. Will urged Gwen to listen as Jack and Carly told Gwen her baby died. Gwen broke down and Carly tried in vain to comfort her sister. "My son died and I didn't even know it," she cried as Will took her into his arms. Gwen calmed down, then told Carly that she wasn't her sister and ran out. Will took off after her. Carly told Jack that Gwen hates her and hoped Gwen would someday forgive her.

After making love in the barn, Holden urged Lily to leave Keith and come home for Christmas. Meanwhile Keith waited impatiently for her at Java. A scruffy Holden reminded Lily that they started in the barn years ago and they're still together and she has to stop fighting it. Their kiss was interrupted by Keith's call wondering where she was. Lily said she was saying goodnight to her kids and would be there soon. Holden chased after her and he told his wife that he would be her secret lover if that was the only way they could be together. Meanwhile, two teen boys walked into Java and one of them must have been the recast Luke because Keith's curiosity was piqued. Keith said Luke looked good (apparently he's not just got a new kidney, he's a whole new person!). NuLuke mouthed off to Keith, who said Lily was on her way. NuLuke said he hadn't seen Lily earlier and Keith was confused. NuLuke insisted he wasn't a kid and stormed out. Holden found nuLuke having an outburst in the barn about Lily being with Keith. Holden told nuLuke that everything will work out in the end. Lily showed up at Java and Keith asked her how Luke was. Keith said he ran into Luke and his friend earlier, and Lily realized he was testing her. Keith asked Lily what happened to her earlier.

At the police station, Hal told Emily to take the immunity deal that Tom is offering her. Hal couldn't believe Emily went along with Paul's scheme. Emily said Hal was just getting back at her for leaving him and refused to testify against Paul. Hal said if she went to jail she will lose her son. He stormed out and Emily started to cry. Hal returned and blasted Emily for letting him believe that his grandson was dead. Hal admitted he still loved Emily and wanted her to take the deal. Emily said she was willing to face the consequences of her actions and begged Hal to let her go. Poor Hal walked out and told the officer to book her.

Meg tried to comfort Susan, who was beating herself up for letting Emily be with Paul. Susan said Meg wouldn't do anything despicable to hold on to Dusty but Meg admitted she had. Meg offered that maybe Paul and Emily kept Jennifer from her baby to ultimately protect Jennifer from Craig, but Susan said that wasn't an excuse. Susan wondered if Meg suspected that Paul and Emily were up to no good earlier and Meg admitted she had put the pieces together. Susan commended Meg for doing the right thing even if it meant losing Dusty to Jennifer now that the truth is out. Oh Susan, if you only knew....

Jennifer wondered why Dusty had Billy with him and refused to hold the baby. At long last, Dusty told Jennifer that Billy was her son...for real this time! She wouldn't believe Dusty and wondered why he was doing this to her. Dusty reassured her that Billy was really Johnny and to hold him while he took out the papers that prove it. "I can't, I can't," she cried. Dusty said they were right before and the past blood test was wrong. Dusty told "Jenny" he was sure this time and pulled out the new DNA test he had done on Jennifer's hair and the baby. Dusty added that she now had full custody of her son. Jennifer was crying and then Johnny started crying...and she finally took him in her arms so they could all cry together. Jennifer admitted she was scared to start believing again and Dusty only said there was a mix-up on the past test, leaving out Paul's involvement although Jennifer suspected there was something he wasn't telling her. She welcomed home "John Dustin" and felt for poor Gwen. Dusty told Jennifer that Gwen and Will were away for the night and Gwen doesn't know yet that it was her baby that died. Dusty told Jennifer to cherish this moment and that everything that matters is in her arms. She smiled as she looked at Dusty and said, "Everything that matters is in this room." The two of them fussed over the baby some more and it was clear that Dusty was affected before he took off.

Barbara was just about to enter her room at the Lakeview when a police officer arrived and told Barbara that Paul had been arrested. Barbara showed up at the police station and Hal told her that Paul kept Jennifer's son — who is alive — from her. They rejoiced that their grandson is alive and hugged. Paul came in and Barbara realized Craig switched the babies. Paul defended himself by saying he was trying to protect Jennifer from Craig. Barbara later visited Paul in his cell and wanted to know how he could destroy his sister's life. "I know what your capable of and it's horrifying," gasped Barbara. "I had a good teacher," he snapped back. Barbara warned Paul that Jennifer is going to hate him and he said, "We were trying to protect her." She shrieked "We?" and stormed out. Barbara then attacked Emily for bringing down her son.

Lily begged Holden to stop contesting the divorce, but he believes she still loves him. Keith told him Lily has moved on, so Holden moved on. Keith accused Lily of encouraging Holden, and pressed her for a wedding date, noting they'll have "fun" after they're married. She left to put the kids to bed, and decided to look for Luke and Faith in the barn. There, she flashed back to smooching Holden. The real Holden suddenly dragged in a Christmas tree. He wrapped her in his coat and they stared into each other's eyes. In his pocket she found a pine cone. "You remembered," she sighed. "Sure, why not?" he replied. They smooched and tumbled to the hay.

In bed at Barbara's cabin, Will told Gwen he likes girls who are "slightly nuts." (Jackpot!) She fretted over leaving Billy with Carly. They smooched, Will got frisky again (c'mon, lucky 7), but Gwen got out of bed (craps!). Rooting through a chest she found toys (jackpot!), including Jennifer's old doll (craps...). Will got misty over how much Jen wanted to be a mom. Gwen and Will agreed they have second chance to get things right (jackpot!).

Carly accused Hal and Dusty of trying to take Billy on Jennifer's behalf. Hal told Carly, "That baby you're holding is my grandson, Jennifer's baby." Carly flipped, but Hal pulled out the DNA proof. Meanwhile, at the Lakeview, Jennifer was determined to leave town over Barbara's protestations that she wait until after wedding — prompting Jen to call Paul. At the police station, Cass told Paul and Emily they face charges that include fraud, forgery and conspiracy. Paul took Jen's call, and when she begged out of the wedding he encouraged her to take tonight's flight (jackpot!). Emily and Paul rejoiced over Jen leaving town, but Paul fretted that Jen will eventually hate him (craps...). Back at the station, Emily theorized Dusty led Hal to the records room, meaning Meg must have told him about the test results. Meg insisted she loves Dusty and keeping secrets would make him leave her, so she begged Paul and Emily not to name her. Jack tried to convince a puzzled Carly the baby was Jen's. Hal explained that Craig switched babies, so Gwen's child actually died. Jack realized the courtroom paternity test cleared Casey because it tested this infant. Carly bemoaned how to tell Gwen, and felt she didn't have the right to give the kid away, but Dusty was determined to bring Jen the baby before she leaves the country. After Hal brandished a court order, a sobbing Carly fretted that Gwen would never forgive her and gave him the child. "You be a good boy," she admonished the infant, then fled the room. Carly sobbed that "I broke my promise to Rosanna." Dusty told a sobbing Hal "It's a miracle." Hal agreed, but had to go to the station, so he gave the kid to Dusty, asking him to "take my grandson to my daughter." Bar-bar decided to accompany Jen to the airport. At the station, Hal sent Paul to booking, then demanded that Emily testify against Paul to avoid jail. At the Lakeview, Dusty asked Johnny, "Ready to meet your momma?" A bellman said Dusty just missed them; they're headed for airport. Dusty turned, and there was Jennifer — stunned to see Dusty with a baby.

Will was in bed, looking quite satiated post-devirgination and taking a condom inventory while waiting for Gwen to come back for some more lovin'. "Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?" he asked as she curled up next to him. Gwen protested, saying she's no Barbara Ryan. "We're not talking about my mother while I'm... while we're here," he said hilariously, so she brought up the Luckiest Little Montegan (Celia, for those of you who've blocked her out of your memory) and The Best Teen Ever checked under the covers and itemized her hidden beautiful parts (legs and toes; get your minds out of the gutter) before responding: "I'm saying it because you're the girl that I love," he gushed, and proceeded to overdose on his affectionate praise, causing even them to roll their eyes before getting started on that next condom. Later, after blissing out on some more post-coital sweetness, Will made plans for the rest of their gooey romantic evening. Gwen was stuck on the fact that Jennifer had her baby there (which we had forgotten!) and suddenly asked him to go home early, what with the snow and all. Will thought maybe her decision had something to do with his first-timer's sexual prowess, but she admitted that she wasn't enough for him. He told her he'd punch a wall if "she started with that 'I'm not pretty stuff' again" and awkwardly articulated his explicit attraction to her. She reassured him that sex with him was better than she had even fantasized and ... time for another condom. Later, Gwen woke up from a nightmare about Billy crying. Will calmed her down, promising her that they'll be a happy family.

At Carly and Jack's house, Jennifer asked to hold Billy for awhile, and Carly finally relented so that Jen could say good-bye. Carly and Jack looked on sadly as she thanked the baby (who was rather vocal today) for helping pull her back from her grief. Once she was gone, Carly bluntly expressed her relief that Jen is "packing up her marbles and leaving town." Jen got home and sobbed some more with a truly sympathetic Barbara, who urged her to get a good night's sleep. "Everything will look better in the morning," soothed Babs, not knowing how right she was. Jennifer then announced that she's changed her flight so that she leaves tonight and she's not going to the wedding — which is kind of rude, considering how it was pushed up for her.

In the hospital, we picked up right where we left off, with Emily and Paul totally busted with her hand literally poised above the shredder (she even started destroying the paper anyway, before Hal unplugged the machine). Paul tried to pretend that they were just wandering by, found the sealed record on the floor and decided to help out the janitors, though even he seemed skeptical about that story, so Hal arrested them both (but not before giving Em a get-out-of-jail option to rat out Paul, which she declined). It was cool that the arresting officer arrived and greeted her as "Mrs. Munson" before Hal gruffly told him to take her in. Once the official report proved that Billy is actually Jennifer's son, Dusty (no longer bothering to pretend that he's not in charge) ordered Hal (who was sweetly excited about having a grandson) not to tell Jennifer right away; first they have to get the baby back tonight. Meg snagged a moment with Dusty to get some extra reassurance that she wouldn't be implicated and that he loves her more than Jennifer. In the interrogation room awaiting Cass, Paul pointed out that Emily might get off easier if he testified against him, and he promised he wouldn't blame her if she did. They were making out when Susan ("Get a grip — you're on your way to the penitentiary and you still can't keep your hands off of this guy" she snarked) arrived, willing to bail out Em, but not Paul. Once she forced Emily to confess what they'd done, she called them monsters, then got a moment alone with her daughter as Paul was taken off to get processed. "You're an impetuous, spoiled, dishonest child. You haven't grown up at all," scolded Susan, surely earning cheers from many a viewer. "This is you sinking to Paul Ryan's level.... Love is supposed to make you a better person, not less than you were." They left it an impasse and when Paul strolled back in, Susan had some last words for him: "If you were any kind of man — and I'm not banking on it — but if you were, you would fix this. You would take full responsibility and get my daughter off the hook." Emily told him not to mind her mother, but Paul said that Susan is right and urged her to let him take the fall. But Em's willing to take the plunge for her man. By the end of the day, Hal and Dusty showed up at Jack and Carly’s house. "There's no easy way to say this, but we're here to pick up Billy," said Hal, quickly explaining the situation. "There is no way in hell you're taking this baby," responded Carly.
