ATWT Recaps Week of January 15, 2007

Friday, January 19, 2007
Mike, saintly as he is these days, was snuggling on the couch with Katie, as they awaited news on the Daniel search. She had just brought up the sore subject of her crazed vendetta against Simon and Carly when Henry showed up to report that the fugitives had left town. Katie was clearly disappointed to learn that Carly's prediction — that Simon would never leave her — had come true, but she covered with Mike, who went off to comfort Jack. Katie was left with old friend Henry, who pointed out that just because Mike had sex with her, it doesn't necessarily mean he's back.

Jack brought his kids home to pack their stuff so they could stay at the farm for a few days because he has to work. Parker (who ran back home, apparently) and J.J. got into another fight, while Sage wondered when they could visit Mommy. Parker — clearly covering for his devastation with brattiness — wanted to tell his confused sister "the truth" that mom wasn't coming back, while J.J. and Jack tried to comfort her. After J.J. took Sage upstairs, Jack tried talking to Parker, who grumped that Jack must have known Carly was going to leave, which is why he started adoption proceedings. "My real dad's dead and mom's gone, so who do I belong to now?" (He ought to compare notes with orphan J.J.) He then declared his hate for Jack, who tried to get him to understand about adults not keeping promises in an awesome scene. Mike overheard all this and provided a bit of manly support in exchange for a beer. Like Margo, Mike guessed that Jack had purposely let them go. Jack admitted as much, then confided that it's all his fault because he's the one who walked out in the first place; he wondered whether he and Carly made a mistake bringing kids into their on-again, off-again relationship. He then took the kids to to Emma's where it was unusually messy and smelled like cigars. After calmly sending the kids upstairs, Jack pulled his gun ... and found his brother, Brad.

When Mike returned home to Katie, she was all tarted up in silk and ready to start making babies again. "I'm sorry," he said, "I can't do this."

Emily and Dusty stopped by Java after beating up Craig's associate, Tull — which Em didn't think was such a good idea, since he might be able to help them find Daniel. That's when Daniel called from Susan's house and asked for a ride, as if nothing ever happened. At the same time, Dusty got a lead on Johnny and Lucy's whereabouts. Em arrived at Susan's to find Daniel (acting much more terrified than before) and Tull, who instantly grabbed her. Sobbing, she begged him to let her give him her share of the paper to save Daniel. She was signing the legal documents when Dusty ninja-d his way in, tackled Tull and — after a bit of a struggle — stabbed him to death. Dallas (hey Dallas!) was the cop to respond. Dusty agreed to answer all the questions, but first he got a sobbing thanks from Emily and admitted that his tip about Johnny was a dead end. After a last admiring look at the mother and son, he left.

Gwen and Adam chatted about their current problems, including Tom's health and Carly's flight from justice. They decided to distract themselves from such misery by getting back to work. Actually, they went to Java, where Adam tried to seductively plan their next trip to L.A. Will arrived and said he'd like to go, too, but Adam had conveniently arranged the meeting for the day when Will had a bunch of tests. Will took that news well, and urged them to go anyway. Adam was so delighted that he flashed back to kissing Gwen. "Gwen Munson, I'm going to make you a star!" he gushed. She was still skeptical, but he's a slick L.A. music producer, so he knows, and added that she'd thank him in an acceptance speech one day. He also wanted to work on her insecurity issues and her inability to accept compliments, which he seductively proceeded to give her. "Adam's trying to teach me to be less humble," she cheerfully told Will when he came back. "Good luck with that," Will smiled affably, announcing that he rearranged the big meeting, and now they're all going to Chicago to meet with the record exec. As they went home, Adam was clearly disappointed by this turn of events, and Iris, who had apparently been lurking nearby, was the only one who noticed. He told her she was wrong and tried to leave. Iris wanted him to hang around to talk about the "thing" he has for her daughter — and to give him her blessing. She suggested they help the young Munsons along the break-up road. At home, Gwen called Will her hero and assured him that he's got nothing to worry about regarding Adam.

What fear did Gwen and Adam claim to share?

Faith and her friend were baking cookies for school when Lily decided to take a break from Faith's bratty attitude to go feed Stormy the horse. Outside, she ran into Lucinda, who hilariously assured her, "You were much, much worse. Trust me." Inside, Faith grilled her friend about how she stays so skinny when all she does is eat. While outside, La Walsh told her daughter that she's beautiful and suggested that Lily might feel better and stop obsessing about her appearance if she had something else to do, like come work at WorldWide. Lily called it a "pity hire" but Lucinda wants her to develop a product line for children because people "spend obscene amounts of money on anything that's baby-oriented." Holden showed up then and advised his wife to turn it down, citing their current kid problems. Lily had just lamented that Faith doesn't want anything to do with her when Faith called for her help, giving Lucinda a chance to browbeat Holden into agreeing to support Lily's decision. Faith urged her mother to accept the job offer. Then, when Lily left to take her friend home, Faith started devouring the cookies.

Tom woke up with a start in the hospital and was about to climb out of bed to go look for Daniel when Margo came in and insisted that he stay put. She agreed to update him about the case if he promised not to do anything to stress him out. When Margo came back, he was passed out on the floor, but ended up being okay.

Dusty and Emily begged Craig's associate, Tull, to tell them where Daniel is. He claimed not to know, but a panicked Em signed the papers to sell her piece of The Intruder anyway. Though Tull continued to insist he knows nothing about the kidnapping, he did give them a cryptic clue about a nearby warehouse. When Dusty and Emily showed up, they found Daniel's gloves. Dusty ran off to find Tull and literally dragged him back to the warehouse by his hair, then proceeded to beat him in a vain attempt to get him to confess. Dusty ripped up the legal papers and they left, while Tull made a phone call. "You find him," he screamed at someone.

Barbara found Meg and begged for her help with Paul, who's been developing some strange special skills, but Meg didn't want to be involved. She also noted that his prognostication skills, which always involved "worst-case scenarios" haven't really changed much. But later, seeing Margo care for Tom made Meg remember her time as Paul's nurse in the cabin.

At the cabin, Paul grabbed Parker's arm and had a psychic flash that we only saw as an actual flash but which he described as a warning that Carly was in serious trouble.

She was: Jack was about to arrest Carly again when he got "a better idea" and tossed the handcuffs to Simon. He then handed him what looked like a giant candlestick and asked him to knock him out with it and cuff him so that they could escape. Both Simon and Carly balked at the idea, but after promising again that he would watch out for the kids, Jack turned around so an extremely reluctant, slightly horrified Simon could knock him out! Afterward, Carly scolded Simon for hitting him so hard, but the Aussie insisted that it's worse than it looks. "I'll never forget this. Or you, G-man," she sobbed, before running off with Simon. The cops found a groggy Jack, who claimed to Margo that Simon had jumped him, but she didn't believe him for a minute. She said she was going to keep quiet and let the Leonian government deal with the Carly/Simon mess. "Now I gotta figure out how to live without her," he told his friend, nearly crying.

When Parker confessed to ratting out his mother, Paul assured him that Carly still loves him. "Sometimes people screw up, even if they do love you more than anything," he said, urging the boy to cut Carly some slack. Paul touched him again and had a flash of Carly's face, then reported the breaking news: his mother had escaped. Paul urged him to find her and tell her he loves her, but Parker had enough of Paul's creepy psychic therapy and ran away again. Paul then called his mother and asked for a police report on Carly. Babs realized he had another vision, but Paul denied it and hung up, then angrily threw the phone.

"I didn't know anything could hurt so much," Carly told Simon in the plane, realizing that Jack still loves her, despite what she let herself think. "How about you? Do you still love him?" he asked. Her answer? Jack's a part of her, so she'll always love him, which is so something Holden would say. Simon offered to take her home, but Carly insisted that her family is better off without her. Besides, she gushed, "I love you." "Say it again," he smiled. (Is it wrong that him saying that just reminded us that those were Katie's exact words the first time he declared his love to her?) Carly did repeat it, adding, "You are my future. You're my life now." Nevertheless, she sadly whispered good-bye to Jack as he did the same to her in split-screen.

Paul was pondering his predicament by the fire in the cabin when Barbara showed up to attempt to talk some sense into him. He freaked when she tried to touch him and sent her off so that he could go on his little journey of self-discovery alone.

Adam had just dropped off some food for Margo when Will and Gwen arrived. Margo seemed pretty optimistic about Tom's post-surgical prognosis, and then both she and Will stepped away. Will returned in time to raise an eyebrow at Gwen giving a comforting hug to his brother. She then urged Will to talk to Adam, so Will did just that, even initiating the apologies. "I wasn't exactly the model of cool," conceded Adam. The brothers shook hands. Adam seemed pleased that Gwen seemed pleased by their truce. "Right now at this moment, we are the most stable people in our families," noted Will to Gwen, who told him that Adam just has trouble expressing his feelings. "He needs someone like you. That's too bad, because you're taken," grinned Will, pulling his wife in for a kiss as Adam returned. Luckily, Jade showed up so that he wouldn't be the third wheel. She took him home, where he tried to initiate meaningless sex, which Jade said makes her feel like she's "nothing," so she left. Meanwhile, Gwen ran into Iris, who had just come from her AA meeting and managed to guilt/sucker her daughter into offering her a ride home next time. Will showed up in time to stop their little talk with some nasty words for Iris about how the money's all gone. But Will and Gwen forgot to tell each other over breakfast who they were hating today, so Gwen (who had earlier also been nice to Jade) bristled a bit at his rude words. Still, she stood by her man, noting that Will gave her the family life that Iris never could. "Will Munson without money?" scoffed Iris after they left. "Useless!" Outside, Gwen worried about being foolish and falling for her mother's tricks again, but Will assured her that it's only because Gwen is such a good person.

Craig showed up at the hospital to support Margo and make sure that she thinks he doesn't have anything to do with Daniel's kidnapping. Margo hasn't made up her mind yet because she's focused on Tom.

Jack caught Carly and Simon in the house; she wondered whether J.J. had tattled. "He didn't have to," Jack told her evenly, before explaining that the kids are somewhere where they won't have to witness what's about to happen to Carly. He then revealed his disgust that she asked J.J. to lie for her, which in turn forced Parker to betray her. Simon offered to leave, saying, "Don't do this to her," which only angered Jack more. He argued that he's an adult, so it's his own fault for getting caught up in her lies, but the kids are innocent and full of unconditional love. He then threatened to not let her see the kids again. "Are you scared? You should be, because I'm going to do what I should have done the first time. Both of you are going to jail, and this time for good." Simon offered to "give himself up" right there; Jack pointed out that it's not "giving himself up" if he's been caught. It was all a ploy anyway — in a wildly tense moment, Simon attacked Jack and threw him on the couch while yelling at Carly to run. "Don't give me another reason to shoot you," Jack gritted out emotionally as he pointed his gun in Simon's face. Simon then changed his tactic by taking the blame for everything and begging Jack to shoot and/or arrest him and let Carly go. "Why'd you have to come back?" Jack asked Carly sadly, as he considered his options. Simon continued to work on Jack's guilt until Carly finally stopped him. "Every time [Jack's] given me a break I've let him down," she said, crying. "What do you say we get this over with? Then maybe you can have some peace." She held out her hands to be cuffed as Jack looked ready to burst into tears.

Dusty and Craig had another one of their tiffs, causing Dusty to challenge Craig, "If you want me, come after me." Em angrily interrupted "another little episode of the Dusty And Craig Show" — totally calling their continuous snide remarks vs. threats battle tactics — and tearfully pointed out that her son is still missing. Craig took his leave, while Dusty apologized and assured her that she would get Daniel back. He urged her to sell her share of The Intruder. "Do what I say and Daniel comes home, safe and sound. I'll make sure of it," he said.

Casey, still wallowing in guilt, passive-aggressively noted to Maddie that he'll make himself scarce when Tom comes home from the hospital. Maddie assured him that he'll be a big part of his dad's recovery, and furthermore he'll do much better in his classes next semester, but Casey continued to act a bit surly rather than just confess.

J.J. kicked Parker for turning in Carly and they got in a little shoving match before the babysitter broke them up. "Why are you always so mean?" asked Sage, who took J.J.'s side against Parker, who stormed off ... and wound up at Paul's door! "I had stuff to think about," he mumbled, before preventing Paul from calling Jack. Paul grabbed the kid's hand and had a weird psychedelic flash. "Your mother," he said eerily.

Casey came home to an empty house and was leaving Margo a message when Maddie arrived with the news about his father. At the hospital, Mike brought coffee for Katie and basically was very sweet and supportive, as Bob reported to Margo that Tom was going into surgery. Lisa arrived and started panicking about their son until Bob pointed out that he was hoping to avoid that in front of Margo. Instead, she sat down and start blathering on about how they have nothing to worry about until Bob took her off so that Margo wouldn't go crazy from her mother-in-law. Mike came back with news from Dallas that the Amber Alert about Daniel had gone out, but they haven't heard anything. Mike was going to help pass out flyers, and Katie joined him because Margo preferred to be alone. Mike eventually took Katie home, comforted her and built a fire before leaving her in front of it, alone in the dark. Seconds later, he changed his mind and returned, explaining that the combination of seeing how beautiful Katie looked along with watching Margo nearly lose Tom was what made him come back. They had reconciliation sex in front of the fire.

At the hospital, Casey guiltily covered for the near-confession he had left his mother in a message before finding out about Tom.

Jack broke it to the kids — including an especially upset Parker — that Carly left with Simon, while Carly insisted to Simon that they turn the plane around and go back for her kids. She urged him to run and let her turn herself in, because there's no point in both of them going to jail. "This thing between us was just supposed to be fun.... It wasn't supposed to make you suburban and responsible," she argued. Eventually, he landed the plane and called J.J., asking him not to say anything. J.J., who's got plenty of experience in secret-keeping, did an excellent job. "J.J.'s becoming quite a fabulous liar, just like me," she lamented to Simon when she hung up. Later, Carly and Simon arrived at the house looking for the kids.
