At WorldWide, Paul finished dictating a letter, then dealt with Craig's "pending correspondence." At the farm, it was bad news for Meg: Craig can't be found, so no divorce for her. Paul stopped by and faced Guard Emma (who threatened to get a shotgun if he caused trouble) before delivering Craig's paperwork. Meg tossed it and asked for the real reason for his visit. Surprise surprise, he was looking for an excuse to see her. She reiterated that it's over between them and rejected his offer to help her track down Craig. Once he left, Emma urged Meg not to close her heart off because of Paul. "All I know is that if Paul breaks my heart again it will kill me," said Meg.

Gwen and Will arrived at the hospital to check on Hallie Munson, but the nurse didn't have news about Hallie Duran for non-family members. That's when Sofie arrived and took them aside and in a tearful, somewhat scatterbrained, oddly self-absorbed speech, she accepted blame for everything that's gone wrong and offered to give them the baby back. Again. After saying another good-bye to Hallie, she naturally ran off to cry to Chris (having just been told by an apologetic Bob that he's been exonerated by the hospital review board, who determined he was drugged without his knowledge), who didn't know about Hallie because he'd been suspended — thanks to Paul. Sofie rusehd off to confront Paul, who swore that he didn't drug Chris and that he hasn't lied to her "yet." He then offered to let her use of one of his attorneys, but she reported that she doesn't need one because she's not reversing the adoption. Paul inexplicably called her "one of the bravest people that I've ever known," and offered all of his help, though he resisted putting up his entire fortune at her disposal. Still, she turned him down. Paul, still stinging from Meg's rejection, coolly wished Sofie luck, but noted that she'll soon realize that being alone sucks. She insisted that she doesn't want to sound ungrateful. "I am this poor, pitiful girl who got herself pregnant by a jerk.... I have failed at everything I've tried. I'm a loser," Sofie said (she got that right), arguing that she has to take control of her own life.

Jack and Carly, having determined that just proving that Kit was in town when Sam was shot is enough to prove that she stumbled upon Parker's crime scene, picked up the rifle and fired the second shot (which turned out to be fatal) disagreed about whether a store receipt is enough to link Kit to Oakdale. Since Katie pointed out that Jack is still unwell, Carly volunteered to get the store clerk to ID Kit. She rushed off on her mission, while Jack.... fainted. Katie rushed him to the hospital, where with the nurse's encouragement, she played along as a delirious, septic Jack blabbered (semi) incoherently about how great it is that they're married. She was a little embarrassed when he woke up later and lucidly asked about Carly, but eventually started to tell him about what he was saying while he was groggy. Meanwhile, the liquor store owner didn't recognize Kit, but Carly went searching for the homeless lady, but still came up empty. She barged in on Katie and Jack's awkward moment to sob that she failed their son.

When the Munsons took their daughter home, Will worried that Sofie will change her mind again and didn't want to live the rest of his life anticipating her next freak-out. His solution? Leave town, get a fresh start. (And break our Will-lovin' hearts.) "I'll go anywhere with you," said Gwen, but insisted that they get Sofie's consent first. Will reluctantly agreed, so they summoned Sofie and told her their plan for the future.
