Meg urged Jack to do more to help Lily in Holden's absence and wondered if she should request partial custody of the kids. He surmised Meg just wants to keep Damian away from Lily. She admitted she has fallen for Damian; Jack called her out on trying to be spiteful and that Holden would want her to forget about Damian. Meanwhile, Damian informed Lily he needs to go away for a while because her family is obviously not happy to have him around. Lily urged him to stay, reminding him that he's the only person she can talk to. Damian was insistent and said he's got business in San Francisco to attend to but will only be gone for a few days. Lily thought he was punishing her for not sleeping with him anymore. Luke interrupted their good-bye and admitted he won't miss Damian while he's gone and told Lily that being with him is wrong. Lily promised Luke that no one will take Holden's place in her heart.

In Kentucky, Eb tied up both Maeve and Holden after he caught them trying to flee. Maeve apologized to her husband and claimed Holden tricked her and said she just needs to to take her medicine. She urged him to get the money so they can leave and start a new life together. Eb was concerned about how to get the money from Lily; Holden suggested getting a disposable cell phone for the ransom call and said if Lily doesn't give him the cash, he has permission to kill him. When they were alone, Holden vowed to help Maeve get a fresh start once they're freed.

Paul found Emily at the cemetery visiting their daughter's grave. Paul couldn't believe it's been three years since she died and reminded Emily it wasn't her fault. They agreed to visit the grave together from now on and announced that her mommy and daddy got married. They bonded over Jenny and Paul suggested they have another baby. Emily said it's too late because she had her tubes tied. Paul brought up adoption, much to her surprise. They agreed it is an option.

Eb called Lily. Luke answered and was confused when the man demanded cash and said that he has Holden and will kill him if they don't give the money. Luke told Lily, who was elated and said she knew all along that Holden was still alive. They phoned Jack with the news. Luke warned his mom that it all might be a hoax. Jack arrived and explained they can't just pay the ransom but he volunteered to go to Kentucky and chat with the local police for a better plan and some leads. Luke went wit him. Later, Meg was thrilled when Lily informed her there's still hope that Holden is alive. "Guess you and Damian jumped the gun then, huh?" she smirked. The women traded barbs. Meg demanded to know what Lily will tell Holden about Damian. Lily spat that Meg's just upset about Damian abandoning her. Then Eb called again and asked about the money. Lily assured him that she has it and forced him to confirm that Holden is alive, which he did. Eb gave her directions on how to give him the money. Eb left, refusing to let Maeve go with him for the drop off. She was concerned he'd screw it up; Holden assured her it'd all be over soon. Maeve was crushed when Holden told her they have no chance at romance because he can't wait to get home to Lily.

Damian hightailed it to Kentucky and was floored when an officer named Grady told him that they don't know who died in the truck but that it wasn't Holden because the DNA doesn't match. Damian advised Grady not to tell Lily anything and that it's for the best. Grady was confused and said Lily has the right to know, but eventually obliged. After Damian left, another officer approached and said that a detective from Oakdale has a tip on Holden's whereabouts. Grady later arrived and discovered Maeve and Holden inside the cabin. Eb returned, however, knocked the cop out and put him in the trunk of his car. Meanwhile, Luke and Jack arrived in town but couldn't find Grady. Luke admitted he's apprehensive about learning the truth about his father because whatever the outcome, it's final this time.

Damian returned to the site of the crash, where he ran into Eb, who thought he was the person Lily sent to bring him the money. Meanwhile, Jack called Lily with an update; she told him about leaving the cash at the crash site. Eb pulled a gun on Damian just as Jack and Luke arrived.
