Nick showed up at Carly's to pick up his phone and revealed he had a gift. Carly told Nick she was not available and Nick said the gift was for Sage. It was a bracelet with bells on it, so Carly could find her when Sage gets lost. Carly broke down and thanked Nick. Nick assured Carly he wouldn't cross that line again and she apologized for jumping to the wrong conclusion. Sage came downstairs and Nick gave her the bracelet. Nick said he did want something from Carly — he just hoped she could now cut him a little slack. She agreed, and she and Sage walked Nick out, just missing Jack's call.

Katie and Mike invited Jack over to tell him about the skeleton in his basement. Mike explained the story about how he buried stolen jewels in the basement of his house (which is now Jack's house), and went back to find them after Oakdale Confidential came out and found a body instead. Jack freaked when Mike said he put the skeleton back into the wall and sealed it up. Katie maintained they just wanted to return the jewels and insisted Mike didn't kill anyone. Jack said they had to dig the body out of the basement and he was the best cop to take care of this. Katie vowed to help Mike through everything and Jack commended them for sharing their problems with each other. Jack, Katie and Mike went down to the basement and Jack started to break down the wall. Carly returned, heard something in the basement and called out. Katie went upstairs to distract Carly but she ran downstairs anyway. Carly asked them what they were doing. Mike said it was police business and Katie would explain everything upstairs. Carly started screaming and hit the wall, causing the skeleton to fall out. She then fainted in Jack's arms.

At the police station, Meg overheard Henry taking care of a ticket and he tried to rush off when she confronted him about the bloody clothes in her car. Henry said he didn't do it and declared he wasn't even hanging out with Emily any more, then took off as fast as he could. At the penthouse, Emily couldn't believe her ears when Jennifer said she had spoken to Dusty. She reported that Dusty had been kidnapped and had gotten away, but their phone call had been cut off and the police were tracing the call. Emily told Jennifer that Paul wasn't home but she would give him the message. Paul returned to the room and asked Emily who called. Emily covered and said she had to leave. Meanwhile, Hal found Jennifer at the Lakeview and wondered what she was so happy about. Margo arrived to talk to Hal and Jennifer ran out. Paul got Jen's text message asking him to give her 15 minutes, so he tried to stall Emily. Paul begged Emily to tell him what was wrong and acted upset that she didn't trust him. Emily reassured him and revealed that Jennifer called with news on Dusty but she didn't want that to interrupt their evening together. Paul said they could check on Jennifer together. Emily changed her mind and said she would take a nap while Paul went to talk to his sister. Paul answered that he would rather stay there and have champagne with her. Emily panicked, went out on the terrace and called Henry, begging him to distract Paul so she could slip away. Henry refused so Emily knocked Paul out with a flower pot. Emily took off, with Jennifer on her tail. A frantic Emily found Dusty still tied up at the farmhouse and realized Paul and Jennifer were on to her. Paul came to and called Jennifer, who had followed Emily to the abandoned farmhouse. Paul warned Jennifer to be careful and then their cell phone connection was lost. Jennifer tried to call him back, leaving him a message that she was going inside the house. Emily cleaned up the room while Dusty told her she should just let him go. She refused, cut the duct tape that tied him to the chair and with a gun pointed at him, demanded that he walk into another room. Jennifer walked into the house and called out. Emily whispered to Dusty that if he made one sound, she'd kill him and Jennifer.

Hal told Margo that he thinks Henry (who was at the Lakeview bar at this point) could be involved with Emily somehow and knows that Tom questioned Emily in Dusty's appearance. Hal defended Emily to Margo, but she maintained that Emily has hurt a lot of people, including her and her family. Hal and Margo took off, while Henry drowned his sorrows with the bartender. Paul showed up, grabbed Henry and demanded to know where Emily was. Paul got rough with Henry and threatened him. The police showed up and Paul was arrested for harassing Henry.

Jade showed up at the house and Luke was still annoyed she "jumped him" last night. Luke reassured her that he is really gay and he's having a hard time keeping it a secret. Holden came into the room and blasted Jade for being there, then asked to talk to Luke. Jade took off and Luke reassured him that he and Jade are doing fine, then said there was something he had to tell him. Outside the door, Lily busted Jade looking through the window and said Holden told her about the money that Jade tried to leave for her yesterday. Lily told Jade to save her money for rent — at a new place! Lily then started experiencing pains and Jade rushed her inside (ruining Luke's coming out moment with Holden). Lily reassured everyone that they were just Braxton Hicks contractions and told Luke he should go do his homework at the library. Luke and Jade left, and she asked him if he told Holden the truth. An annoyed Luke left for the library while Jade took the groceries into the house and overheard Lily and Holden talking about Faith's play so she offered to help. Holden insisted on taking Lily to the hospital and said Jade could take Natalie to Faith's play. Holden and Lily left and Jade was pleased.

Casey met Maddie at the library and told her that Oakdale Confidential's author was revealing herself today and he just knew it was her. Kim then introduced the "author" — Nancy Hughes. Nancy came up and thanked Casey for coming, causing Maddie to realize Casey knew all along that she wasn't the author. Maddie was annoyed, but they kissed and made up. Maddie couldn't believe that anyone — including Mike — thought she could have written the book. Casey said Mike needed to apologize now, so he dragged Maddie over the cottage. Casey pounded on the door and yelled for Mike to come out, but Mike and Katie weren't home. Maddie said she doesn't need an apology, but appreciated Casey being "her hero." Back at the library, Lisa came upon Nancy's book signing and blasted her for writing the book. Lisa was upset about comments in the book about her many marriages and her questionable taste in fashion. Nancy asked how she could make it up to Lisa. Over drinks at the Lakeview, Nancy reassured Lisa that she was good enough to be a Hughes — then and now. Lisa said she wouldn't mind living her life all over again as long as she had her very dear friends with her. She left and Nancy was pleased that Lisa forgave her. Kim accused Nancy of not writing the book and Nancy told Kim that she couldn't tell anyone the truth.

Paul showed Jennifer his gunshot scar and revealed Emily shot him in the back and pushed him over a cliff. Jennifer freaked and Paul said he covered for Emily because he was trying to do the right thing by leaving her and Emily snapped. And now Emily has Dusty. Paul added that he married Emily to find Dusty, and then stopped Jennifer from going after Emily herself. Paul warned Jen that Emily wants Meg gone, and she might kill Dusty to make that happen. Jennifer wanted Hal to question Henry about Emily, but Paul said that will tip Emily off. Jen said they needed to follow Emily to find Dusty.

Meanwhile, Emily showed up at the police station to meet with Tom. Tom had questions for her about Meg's case. She maintained Paul was innocent in Dusty's disappearance and that Meg was the true culprit. Tom revealed he doesn't have enough evidence to convict Meg. In a truly ironic scene, Emily said Meg was seriously imbalanced, desperate and "grabby." Tom got a call and had to leave, so Emily found Meg and said she was going to make sure Meg went to jail. Meg said that if anybody deserved to be in jail, it was Emily. Emily wondered what she meant by that, and Meg covered by saying Emily should be in jail for shooting Paul. Emily said Paul has forgiven her and would never let her go to jail, then took off. Meg called Paul and told him that a freaked Emily had just left the police station. Paul said he explained everything to Jen and they have a plan. Tom questioned Meg some more and she told him to go after the person who phoned in the anonymous tip that got her pulled over. Emily came home and told Paul she had things to do. While Paul went to get them drinks (and secretly call Jen), Emily reviewed the directions from her handy dandy CSI kit. Emily then answered Jen's phone call and was stunned when Jennifer said an alive Dusty had called her.

At the cottage, Mike had a nightmare about the body in Mike and Carly's basement. Katie asked him what he was dreaming about but he wouldn't tell her. Katie told Mike she got Nancy to take credit (blame?) for writing Oakdale Confidential. Mike added that they were still in danger. They started talking about their upcoming wedding and Katie said they were going to be a team and had to communicate. Mike said he is trying to protect her and he couldn't tell her. Katie kept pressing him and said she would find out. Mike finally confessed that he found a human skeleton in the basement and feared he will be implicated in the crime. Katie said they would work on this together, and suggested they go to the police to tell them about the skeleton.

Jack accused Carly of making up another emergency to get him over to the house, but she said Sage was really missing for a bit. Nick walked into the room and said Carly was telling the truth and he responded to Carly's call. She went up to change Sage while Jack and Nick argued over Carly. Nick went to make a call and Carly asked for an apology from Jack. Carly maintained she wouldn't use the kids to get to him but Jack said he couldn't trust her. Carly said even Nick has forgiven her and the family needs Jack back. He said they were over so Carly screamed for him to get out. Nick came back into the room and Carly told him that she and Jack were going through a rough patch. She thanked him for finding Sage but asked to be alone so he left. Jack showed up at Yo's to have a beer and flashbacked on happier times with Carly, then took off his wedding ring. Back at home, Carly looked at their wedding picture and kissed her wedding ring.

At the police station, Jennifer found the bag of Dusty's clothes and confronted Meg, demanding to know the truth. Jen begged Meg to tell her that Dusty is alive, but Meg said she doesn't know and someone has set her up. Jennifer replied that Meg is capable of anything, and Meg challenged her find out what really happened to Dusty. Jennifer wondered why Meg was keeping mum on the person she thinks has Dusty. Meg told her to talk to Paul. Meg later insisted to Emma that she was innocent and she thinks that Emily has Dusty. She also revealed that Paul married Emily to help Meg, and that she and Paul are in love with each other. Emma told Meg she was going to give her 24 hours and then she was going to tell Hal everything. Meg reassured her that everything would work out and they embraced before Meg was taken to her cell.

Paul offered to buy Henry a drink to thank him for being such a good friend to Emily. Henry tried his best to get out of it but he was mesmerized by Paul's wad of cash, so they headed over to Yo's. They played pool and Paul made sure Henry won every time. Then Paul commended him on his friendship with Emily and said he thinks she's hiding something. Henry feigned ignorance but Paul pressed him. Henry was just about to open up when Jack walked in. Henry freaked and lied, saying the only thing he knew was that Emily shot Paul. Paul assured him that he is not working with Jack, but Henry still feared Paul was going to hurt Emily. Inside the penthouse, Emily had apparently been watching too much CSI. A bag was delivered to her and she took off. She slipped into Meg's hotel room (thanks to Henry's master key), got Meg's fingerprints off a glass and put them on the gun. Meanwhile, Paul came home and Jennifer arrived shortly after, demanding he tell her what he knows about Dusty's disappearance. Paul told Jen he hopes Emily will lead him to Dusty and that Emily is doing this to get rid of Meg. Jennifer said they should to the police, but Paul warned her that she could lose Dusty forever if she did that. Paul implored Jen to work with him and revealed that he only married Emily to get her to trust him.

Katie woke Mike up at the cottage, told him she thought of a way to fix everything, and ran off. Nick came downstairs and Mike initially refused to tell him what was wrong because he is a cop. Mike relented and told Nick that he found a skeleton in Carly and Jack's basement. Mike shared his fears with Nick, then Nick headed to work. Mike then had a nightmare about the body in the basement.

Gwen showed up at Carly's and reassured Carly that Parker and Hal were having fun together, but Parker missed her. Gwen asked for Parker's keyboard and Carly freaked. Gwen and Carly had a good sisterly talk and Carly said the kids know she is the reason Jack went away. Gwen encouraged her to talk to Hal. Carly told Gwen she missed Jack but he won't be coming home. Gwen left with the keyboard and Carly gave her instructions for Parker. Carly turned around and couldn't find Sage. A frantic Carly called the police station and got Nick on the phone. She told him Sage was gone and he rushed over. Nick showed up and asked Carly some questions and promised Carly they would find Sage. Nick went downstairs and recognized the wall that Mike told him about earlier. Nick then found Sage hiding under the stairs. Carly took Sage upstairs and Nick looked at the newly covered wall some more. Jack rushed into the house and was relieved to find Carly holding Sage. Jack asked Carly if this was another one of her tricks to bring him home.

Lisa and Nancy looked around Crash while Casey asked Will how his janitorial job was going at the hospital. Casey offered him a job at Crash but Will said he needed to make more money. Katie showed up and begged for Nancy's help. Nancy praised her for writing Oakdale Confidential, and Katie asked Nancy to reveal herself as the person who wrote the book. Katie feared the press would come after Mike and he will resent her. Plus, no one could stay mad at Nancy for long. Nancy agreed to think about it and a grateful Katie took off. Meanwhile, Lisa blasted the writer to Casey and Will. Nancy later called Kim to arrange a press conference. Gwen showed up at Crash and Will reassured her that they would be together forever and they took off to spend some time together.

Paul tried to call Meg at the station but changed his tune when Emily came into the room. Paul told Emily a timely lie — he had to go file an extension on his taxes. Paul left and Henry showed up and accused Emily of kidnapping Dusty and framing Meg. Henry was concerned he was going to get blamed and warned Emily he'd take her down with him. Emily assured him he wasn't going to jail and showed him the briefcase of his money on the terrace. She held it over the ledge and threatened to drop it if he didn't keep quiet about Meg. When Henry wouldn't play along, she threw the briefcase at him but it was empty. Henry went to leave and Emily warned him that no one walks out on her — just ask Paul. "Shoot me, put me out of my misery," declared Henry. She told Henry she loved him and wanted him to be happy, and that everything would be over after he gave her the key to Meg's room. Henry relented, took off — and ran into Paul outside the door.

At the station, Jack questioned Meg about Dusty's murder. Meg said she was set up and Jack wondered who would put Dusty's bloody clothes in her car. Paul interrupted them and Jack demanded to know how the two of them were involved in Dusty's case. Meg asked to speak with Paul alone and Jack relented. They embraced and Paul told Meg she was safer in jail. Meg was worried about Paul's safety but he vowed to find Dusty. Jack walked in on Meg and Paul almost kissing and wanted to take their statements. A police officer then told Jack that Sage was missing and he rushed off. Meg explained to Paul that she was picked up by police on her way to meet Henry. They kissed and she told Paul she loved him. Meg told Paul to do what he needed to do to find Dusty and she would stall on her end. The lab report on the clothes came back with a match to Dusty's blood, so Meg was arrested for kidnapping Dusty.

Luke got uncomfortable when Kevin showed up at Java with girls. Luke told him that he and Jade were seeing each other. Kevin congratulated him and Luke asked if they could hang out like before. Kevin said that wasn't going to happen because he had a girlfriend now. Kevin returned to his girlfriend and an upset Luke left. Meanwhile, Jade purposely got Holden's attention when she snuck into the house and left an envelope for Lily. Holden asked her why she was there and opened up the envelope. Jade said she was trying to make things right. Holden wondered why Jade was giving Lily money and she revealed she got a job and was repaying Lily. Jade said she lied to be a part of Lily's family and she wasn't going to leave. Holden said when Lily found out that Jade lied to them, it was like Rose died all over again. He told her to keep her money. Holden stopped her from running out to give her back her money and Luke saw Holden give her some more money to get to and from work. Holden took a phone call and Luke confronted Jade about taking money from his dad. He said he was sick of lying and they were done. Jade wondered what was wrong and Luke revealed he saw Kevin with his girlfriend. Jade told Luke that she cares about him. Luke said he cared for her, too. Jade told Luke that sexuality is very complicated but Luke assured her that he is gay. She said she fanaticized about kissing him and wanted to turn their lie into something real. Luke said he wished that he could be like everyone else, and she kissed him. Luke pushed her back and told her to stay away from him, which Holden saw.

Maddie and Will showed up at Crash as Gwen and Casey were preparing to audition bands. It became AMERICAN IDOL, Oakdale-style, when people frighteningly auditioned to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." Gwen and Casey said they would have to work a lot of late nights to get the club ready for its opening in a week. A left-out Maddie and Will decided to get back to calculus and took off.

At Jack and Carly's, Carly heard a noise (it was Mike in the basement), so Katie screamed and dragged Carly out of the house to distract her. Carly wondered what Katie was up to. Hal brought Parker over to pick up his bike and Parker said it was in the basement. Katie took Parker inside while Carly and Hal argued about Parker and her reckless actions. Hal told Carly he doesn't want what happened to Will to happen to Parker. Katie told Parker she would get his bike from the basement. Downstairs, Mike was freaked to find a woman's skull in the wall. He started to plaster the wall back up again. Katie ran downstairs to warn Mike, who gave her the bike and told her to go back upstairs. She told him to sneak out the back door when he was done. Carly and Hal talked to Parker about him staying with his dad for a while. Katie returned with the bike, then left. While Hal loaded the bike into the car, Carly and Parker went down to the basement to get his helmet. Back at the cottage, Mike told Katie that he didn't find the rubies and kept mum about the dead body. Mike left but was still disturbed by the body he found. Meanwhile, Parker and Carly went downstairs and Parker realized the wall was wet. Carly said there was a boiler accident earlier, found his helmet and they went back upstairs.
