ATWT Recaps Week of August 21, 2006

Carly and Simon had misty memories of their kiss and then discussed it. "I may have seen fireworks," Simon chuckled, but it also "may have been inappropriate." "It doesn't pay the bills," Carly agreed. They (reluctantly) decided not to let the liplock interfere with business. They shook hands and Simon directed Carly, "Take off your clothes." Say, what? "Call me when you grow up!" Carly snarked — until Simon showed her a kickass original dress from Milan and sketched a politically incorrect idea for them to charm their marble supplier. Then, Carly left to see Jack and Simon knocked a bucket of spackle all over himself. He had to whip off his shirt and hit the shower. Carly caught Eve and Jack hugging goodbye at the OPD. "It's not what you think!" Jack hurriedly told Carly, making excuses. Carly surprised Jack with her mature reaction and said she'd e-mail Jack about the kids' visitation. Of course, when she returned to Simon's building, she found him naked. "Not a speck of spackle," she noted, standing by his piled clothing.

At Java, Luke stood around in one of his Striped Shirts of Innocence and took abuse from Kevin. Kevin called him the "black hole when it comes to hooking up" and told him not to go to Raven Lake unless he was bringing a girl. Jade arrived soon after, scowling at Luke's ex-massage buddy. She followed Luke to the Snyders in a hot minute and told him to get over Kevin ASAP. "This weekend, you're flying solo," he told Jade, bitterly. Jade tried to convince him that going to the lake would be good for him. "Who the hell is Kevin to pass judgment on you?" she pointed out. Luke was a little scared to admit that Jade was right, and also scared of being Out, but agreed to go to the lake. En route, Jade feared Will would think she's a stalker (well, if it looks like a duck...) and Luke told her to tell Will how she really feels. Jade grabbed her backpack out of the trunk, deciding to walk the rest of the way (with a slasher loose).

Maddie awoke from a nightmare and Henry and Eve assured her that the cops would find Louis. Great Aunt Kim brought mac & cheese for Will and set about curing Will's Gwen-related blues. Elsewhere, Gwen was blue (again) about her broken marriage and Casey was still bummed that Maddie could be psycho. This trip was perfectly timed! Gwen added that, "if Jade goes to Hell and, like, gains a hundred pounds," that would be great, too. Day player Ann ran in with food for their trip. Then, Gwen was faced with the slasher and screamed her head off. Casey tackled...Zack, who'd been pulling a cruel prank. Eve suggested Maddie stay with their sister Bernadette in Chicago and Henry agreed. But first, Maddie needed to talk to Casey! Aunt Kim told Will he had to be a man or he would lose Gwen. Will thanked Kim for "giving it to me straight" and headed out to convince Gwen he'd grown up. Outside Chez Hughes, Maddie overheard Zack and Ann joking about Casey and Gwen's closeness. She consequently snowed both Henry and Eve and headed for the lake. The kids all arrived to the Raven Lake location shoot, complete with ALL MY CHILDREN-style camerawork. Gwen urged Casey to go have fun. "You're going to make me swim with hot girls? You're so mean," he joked before bolting. Gwen turned and found Will standing there. Awkward! "You and I should talk," Gwen said. Well, Will was going to listen. Just as they made progress, Luke arrived and told Will Jade was looking for him. Naturally, Gwen flipped. Meanwhile, the slasher pulled his/her ginormous knife out of a backpack.

How had Kim cheered up Will as a child?

At Java, Gwen and Casey looked forward to their Raven Lake trip and Jade snarked at them for moving on. Meanwhile, Will moped at his formerly happy home as Barbara dropped by, sharing that Hal had told her (off-screen) that Will was accused of hurting Gwen. Barbara also informed Will that she'd heard there was a break in the slasher case. Babs updated Will on the police station scuttlebutt about Maddie and she told him to "take care of you" and then give Gwen a call. Jade stood in judgment of Gwen and Casey, who told her that they were going to Raven Lake as friends. Jade hightailed it over to Chez Munson Junior and Will told her about Maddie possibly being the killer. Jade then spilled about Casey and Gwen's trip. Will called for a bus ticket ASAP. He'd go, too! Casey and Gwen sighed over their exes and laughed at themselves for becoming "too nice." They toasted bottled waters to "toughening up." Then, ATWT's InTurn contestants all piled in for their fifteen seconds of fame. Ticked at Will's travel plans, Jade called Luke. Casey wrangled the InTurns as Gwen angsted over Will's picture.

Lucinda lit candles at a fabulous table as a surprised Lucy arrived. "Would you prefer to come home to paper plates?" wondered Lucinda. Of course, when Dusty sauntered in, the jig was up! Rattled Dusty made his excuses and fled and Lucy warned her grandmother, "You've really outdone yourself this time." Meanwhile, Luke got geeky about doing a project with Ethan's christening pictures and Holden suggested Luke get out (and Out) a little. Luke told Holden about Kevin and the blind date disaster and how Will, Jade and Lucy were the only ones he was out to. Speaking of blind dates, Lucy lashed out at Lucinda for setting her and Dusty up: "I wasn't ready to be pushed." "You still love him," Lucinda defended, adding, "He still cares for you." Peeved, Lucy walked out and later ran into Dusty at Java. She apologized to him for Lucinda's yenta act and Dusty asked her to have coffee with him. Jade gave Luke some blue booties for Ethan and then dumped her Will problems on him. She pleaded for Luke to take her to Raven Lake. Lucy and Dusty shared some laughs as they chatted about Sierra and Johnny. But Dusty's swift, curt promise to keep the coffee secret from their matchmaker dampened Lucy's spirits. "We'll keep each other honest," Luke told Jade, who was sure Raven Lake would be good for them both.

At the Lakeview, Eve threw herself into Jack's arms and wept as Henry told him that Louis could be the slasher. At the OPD, Margo and Dallas questioned a loopy Maddie about the slasher's mask. The viewers saw more rape flashbacks as Margo tried to keep Maddie calm. Jack called in and told Margo to hold up — he, Eve and Henry had key info! Louis lurked ominously as they headed out. The Colemans soon barreled into the interrogation room and Margo demanded the 411. At Henry and Eve's urging, Maddie admitted that Louis had raped her and Jack presented the dark sweatshirt. Elsewhere, Louis made friends with a big ol' knife. Henry took Maddie home as Margo asked for Eve's help in finding Louis. Eve called her hubby and he lied that he was headed for Java. Then, Jack listened to Eve confess Louis' past history of looking at porn starring "very young girls". "Louis is capable of anything!" she cried. Back at the Coleman suite, Henry and Maddie said "I love you"s and then Henry went for ice. Naturally, Louis burst out of the coat closet with his sharp little pal and attacked Maddie. He fled before Henry burst in and Maddie tearfully clutched her brother. Later, Jack, Eve, Margo and Dallas gathered in the suite as a haunted Maddie told them that this would never be over.

Simon and Carly were all aglow about their impending meeting. Then, a not-so glowy Mike announced that he was quitting, spilling the beans on Simon paying off city officials and prompting Carly herself to quit. Simon pleaded for Carly not to walk away but she told him she couldn't afford to get in more trouble. "I'm not going to trade my children for a prison jumpsuit," she said. Simon passionately pleaded for Carly to stick by him and the project. Or did she want to "run along like a scared little rabbit"? (Where IS Snickers these days?) Faced with the investors, Carly decided to stick it out and charm them with her pitch for "Frasier Towers." After the meeting, they were so giddy with success that Simon planted a big old kiss on his partner! She kissed back and then pulled away, flabbergasted. The partners were visibly rattled by their chemistry.

Bummed about Lily's condition, Lucinda invited Lucy to a "new beginning" tonight. At home, dressed to kill Luke and Holden looked for Lily's list of baby names. Holden asked Luke to be little soon-to-not-be-Wiggles' godfather. Honored Luke accepted as the whole family arrived (sans a working Meg) for the christening. The Walsh-Snyders were a bit cryptic, whispering the baby's real name and not telling the audience. Luke and Lucy had a brief post-Damian chat and then Dusty arrived. (Cue the awkwardness!) Holden informed a touched Lucy she'd earned her "godmother stripes" by helping Luke and the family officially welcomed Ethan Walsh Snyder. Then, Lucinda asked Dusty to have dinner with her. After he reluctantly accepted, Dusty smacked into Lucy in the foyer. Holden introduced Ethan to Coma Lily, saying, "This little guy, he needs you. We all need you." One of Ethan's gifts played "Pop Goes the Weasel" as Dusty wondered why Lucy had been ignoring him all night. An eavesdropping Lucinda then invited Lucy to dinner.

On the patio at Chez Hughes, Casey was mad at himself for suspecting Maddie and wondered who the slasher really is. Meanwhile, Eve tried to track down Louis as Margo came by with Maddie's photo. In the car, Henry told Maddie that "dropping a dime on this sicko" would be the best money he ever spent but she cautioned him, telling him Louis could be the killer. "If you say anything, I swear I will tell everyone that you're lying!" Henry explained how Louis had done a number on her, and they had to get Eve away from Louis ASAP. Henry made Maddie promise to sit tight while he went to confront their sister. Up at the Lakeview, Eve stonewalled Margo and suggested Casey is the slasher. Casey and Gwen found Maddie's bracelets by the window. Uh-oh. After Margo left, Henry shared Maddie's revelations with Eve. Casey was reeling from the prospect of Maddie being guilty and wanted to skip town stat! As the lights went out, Casey grabbed a knife. Surprise, it was just Tom! Frazzled Eve refused to believe Louis is a murderer and rapist. She broke down while telling Henry about the night of Maddie's rape. "I hate what he did," she cried, wondering if Louis had driven Maddie to kill. Meanwhile, Louis pounded on Maddie's car door. Not! It was actually Margo, who comforted Maddie — and asked about the mask. Henry assured Eve that Maddie isn't the killer and wanted to search Louis' things. Fresh off their scare, Gwen and Casey raced to pack for Raven Lake. Margo told Maddie she'd have to bring her in — just as Henry found a suspicious dark sweatshirt in Louis' stuff.

Paul and Meg discussed (i.e.: fought about) him helping Emily with the newspaper and Meg wasn't havin' Paul's excuses. "When did this pregnancy become your full-time job?" she demanded. Nearby, Lucy told Emily to get her blood pressure under control. The source of Emily's stress? "Your father," Em informed, telling Lucy all about her troubles with The Intruder and Craig owning it. "I've got plenty of stress to go around," she admitted, ruefully. In the hall, Paul pointed out it was Meg's plan for them to be nice to Emily. "What can I say? Emily knows my launch code," Meg shrugged, icily. Paul assured her that everything he did, he did for her (cue the Bryan Adams), and the duo smooched. Then, Paul eavesdropped on Emily and Lucy discussing "raising The Intruder up from the ashes." Em wanted the brand new start for herself and her baby. Lucy told Emily she couldn't help her with Craig and offered her some stress reduction pamphlets. Later, Meg and Emily geared up for Round 2,240 of their feud and Paul chatted up Lucy. No fool, she called him on his eavesdropping. Paul told Lucy that Craig ought to sell The Intruder to him, making an eloquent case. Lucy reluctantly agreed to get a message to her dad while Meg told Emily to get used to her because she wasn't going anywhere.

At the Lakeview, Carly and Jack caught up — politely. "No more lectures," Jack asserted. At Simon's site, Mike told him the building is a "structural nightmare." Simon dressed Mike down for using it as "your own private X-rated boudoir." At Memorial, Katie shared her babymakin' desires with Nancy, who advised her, "Schedules are for trains, not for conceiving children." Jack apologized for flipping out on Carly and Carly assured him that things between her and Simon are "strictly professional." JJ dashed that to pieces when he spilled about their drive-in venture. Elsewhere, Katie announced, "We've been having sex all wrong!" and interrupted Simon and Mike's business chat. Awkward! Carly tried to explain away the date with Simon but Jack assured her it wasn't necessary. Eve then ran in asking for Jack's help finding Louis. "I could've told you that you were doing it all wrong, too," Simon cracked at Mike and Katie before telling Mike to do his job and stalking off. Mike then kvetched to Katie about Simon's shady business practices. Jack introduced Carly to Eve. Carly stumbled over her "soon-to-be ex-wife" tag and ran to meet Simon. Eve told Jack all about her woes (see below). "Tonight is just the beginning," Simon promised Carly as they prepped for a big meeting with some investors. Across town, Mike debated blowing the whistle on Simon but he and Katie tabled the issue. Meanwhile, Eve thanked a sympathetic Jack for listening to her.

"You better be drunk, Henry!" Louis cried. Nope, Henry was stone cold sober as he reiterated his suspicion that Louis raped Maddie. "It was you!" he shouted, grabbing Louis violently as Eve arrived. At Chez Hughes, a bored Gwen and Casey cracked open Casey's game chest as Maddie lurked outside. Maddie watched Casey and Gwen play a faux Trivial Pursuit game, imagining they were dissing her when they were actually talking her up fondly. The duo debated getting away for a bit at Raven Lake. Henry tried to convince Eve that Louis had raped Maddie — without much success. "He can't hurt me, Eve," Louis postured. "Game over." Distraught Henry promised himself, "I'll get to the truth." Casey showed Gwen a picture of himself in a freaky mask and she said that the killer had worn it. Gasp! Then, someone snuck up on Maddie outside. It was Henry, who told her he knew about Louis! Inside, Casey told Gwen the mask was Maddie's. Margo came home and Casey hid the photo. In the car, Henry told Maddie about how he'd triumphed over his childhood tough times. "You're not alone anymore," he promised, telling her that even Casey might surprise her. Then, Maddie told Henry all about the rape (complete with flashbacks) and he assured her it wasn't her fault. "This nightmare is finally over," he sighed (which means it's not). Maddie pleaded for Henry not to tell anyone about Louis, not even Eve. Back at the Hughes', Gwen and Casey coughed up the photo when Margo looked at them funny (wimps!). "Lock the doors!" Margo instructed, going into Detective Mom mode and bolting.

Meg caught up with Dr. Bob at the hospital, accepting props for her quick thinking while saving Lucy — as well as a position at Memorial's ER. Moments later, Emily arrived, breathing hard and crying for help. She wasn't quite thrilled with Nurse Meg. "Don't call my mother," she requested. "Call Paul." Once settled in a room, Emily got belligerent about Meg delaying said call. She cited Meg's insecurities and the two women clashed. Meg went out and dialed Paul since his ex was "acting like a lunatic." Paul rushed to the hospital and got the 411. They needed to keep Emily calm for the baby's sake. "Emily could get Mahatma Gandhi to punch her," Paul noted, amused. Meg asked him to try and unwind Em, so he walked in...and yelled at her. The lecture quickly turned into a pep talk and Paul assured Em she could count on him. Meg wasn't so happy to hear them bonding and let Paul know it.

Holden, Luke, and Baby Bro chilled out at the Lakeview. Nearby, Jade and Will indulged themselves as Paul walked up. "Where's Gwen?" he wondered, cheerfully. Will accused Paul of reporting back to Barbara before 'fessing up that his marriage is over. Jade excused herself and caught up with Luke and Holden about the Damian debacle. "Marital advice from the expert," Will snarked when Paul tried to talk about Gwen. Jade held Baby Boy Snyder and shined her own halo in the process. "I'm just a sucker for people who like my kids," Holden chuckled at Luke as they left for Memorial. "I miss Jennifer and my life is really messed up," Paul told Will. But the attempt at bonding didn't change Will's mind about dropping Jade as a companion. At the hospital, Luke sat by Lily's bedside and apologized for the "day that you fell." He begged her to wake up, telling her he'd be a better son. "Don't put yourself down," Emma chided him. Jade and Will finished up their evening but Will wasn't quite so hot to get horizontal. Emma gently suggested to Holden that they go ahead and name the Nameless Wonder like Lily would want. "It's not you, it's me," Will told Jade, who didn't appreciate the cliché (for once, the recapper agrees with her).

Under Louis' watchful eye, Maddie couldn't tell Margo and Dallas who her rapist was and spit out that "maybe it didn't happen at all." "I was there," Dallas reminded, but she stuck to her new story. "My imagination just runs away with me," she stammered. Margo decided to clear the room and talk to Maddie alone. In the hall, Henry asked Dallas and Margo for their call on Maddie's turnaround. Margo suspected Maddie was protecting "someone she knows." Sure enough, Louis warned Maddie to keep mum...just as Henry walked back in the door. Louis covered but Henry remained suspicious. Alone with Maddie, Margo pleaded, "For your own sake, tell me the truth." Maddie admitted she'd lied about the party, flashing back on the rape even as Margo cajoled her. Just as Margo saw a glimmer of progress, Maddie clammed up. Eve and Louis chatted about Maddie's "cry for help," and Henry kept his eye on his bro-in-law. Margo told Dallas that the murders and the rape case could very well be about different things entirely. Later, Eve comforted Maddie, who let the mascara run...and then went AWOL. Back by the bar, Louis tried to cover his smarmy behind again but Henry wasn't havin' it. He did the math: "I'm looking at the piece of dirt who raped my sister."
