Nick indignantly complained to Lt. Baker about being railroaded. Lt. Baker lost his patience with Nick and threatened to send him back to lockup if he kept mouthing off. Lt. Baker took him to see Storm and Taylor, who comforted Nick. Taylor admitted that she still found it hard to believe that Stephanie and Ridge would intentionally set up Nick and let him rot in prison. Nick realized that Rick might be able to help him verify things that happened the night of Shane's death at Forrester Originals, and prompted Taylor to call him.

An upset Phoebe vented to Brooke about Nick blaming her dad for Shane's murder. Phoebe asked Brooke if she could talk to Nick and get him to stop spreading such "lies." Later, Phoebe got into an argument with Rick when he expressed his belief that Nick is innocent and that her father may in fact be involved. Phoebe became irate and warned him never to accuse her father again. Taylor called Rick on his cell and asked him for help. Rick arrived at the jail, and Nick explained his theory of how Ridge is responsible for Shane's death, and asked for his help in proving it. Rick told Nick what Ashley said about the night Shane was killed, including the gunshot Ashley thought she heard. The piece of info convinced Nick that Ridge did it and Stephanie is trying to frame him for it. Nick asked for Rick's help to find the evidence in the Forrester Originals building to exonerate him.

Brooke called Storm and asked him to stop by. When Storm arrived Brooke asked him to get Nick to stop accusing Ridge. Storm informed Brooke that Nick had been arrested again, thanks to Stephanie's machinations, and that Ridge had jetted off to Paris. Storm declared his belief that Ridge is the one responsible for Shane's death, and added that Taylor agrees with their theory, too. Storm told Brooke his defense for Nick is weak and that Nick's only hope is for Brooke to get a confession out of Stephanie.

DA Jennifer Tartaro visited Stephanie at La Forrester's request. Stephanie thanked her for coming and told her she had something urgent to discuss. Stephanie tried to warn Jennifer about how violent and troublesome Nick is, but Jennifer explained that she can't speak about the case because she's prosecuting it. Stephanie then asked Jennifer if she could move up the date of Nick's trial, but the DA said the schedule was solely at the discretion of the judge. Realizing she wouldn't be able to get Jennifer to budge, Stephanie thanked her for her time. Soon after Brooke arrived to verify if Ridge was indeed in Paris. Brooke offered to help Ridge and Stephanie if there had been an "accident." Stephanie denied everything. Brooke said she couldn't believe that Ridge would kill anyone, but then asked Stephanie if she did. Stephanie denied that, too. Brooke then asked why Stephanie would file a restraining order against Nick and then invite him over. Stephanie said she did so because she's afraid for her safety. After Brooke left Stephanie called Ridge and got his voicemail. She left a message advising Ridge to stay put and not to even call her for now. When Stephanie looked up in the mirror, she saw Brooke's reflection. Horrified by what she overheard, Brooke looked Stephanie in the eyes: "Did he do it?!"

Nick paced around Taylor, intent on proving Ridge's guilt so that he could be with her and their baby. He was certain that "Stephanie cannot cover for the dressmaker forever." After Taylor grappled with the idea that Ridge could really be guilty, Stephanie called Nick over to talk. While he was gone, Taylor signed for a document for Nick from the county. She tore it open and was not happy to see what was inside.

Ridge showed up at his mom's and was a bundle of nerves. "If Nick can convince Taylor I murdered Shane, he's going to have no problem convincing the police," he insisted, but she said the police's prime suspect would have no cache. She rushed Ridge off to Paris and then revealed she'd told Taylor he'd already left. "How many [lies] is that now?" he disapproved. Stephanie insisted Nick would never find proof and urged him to leave it to the police. "I'll handle Nick," she said. "He doesn't know it, but he's about to be stopped dead in his tracks." Ridge was upstairs when Nick arrived. Stephanie challenged Nick to share his suspicions and then reprimanded him for talking trash about her and Ridge to Taylor. He was confident she and Ridge would end up being the ones in jail, but she countered that no one is listening to his accusations except Taylor. Stephanie maintained, "That is unacceptable." Right after Ridge came downstairs, the police arrived. "There he is," Stephanie said, and the cops arrested Nick for violating her restraining order. She'd set him up! As she hugged Ridge, he seemed even less convinced mommy knew best.

In the lab, Ashley got a message from Nick, who was hoping she'd had more thoughts about Ridge. After considering all she'd heard and seen, she decided she needed an ear, so she called Rick. He showed up with Phoebe, but once Phoebe excused herself to call Constantine, Ashley got right to the point. "Shane McGrath...I think I might know who killed him," she intoned, so when Phoebe came back, he told her he'd have to meet up with her later. When he heard Ashley thought it was Ridge, he basically laughed, but he heard her out and was soon convinced something was up. "If it did happen in this building, it doesn't explain the evidence on Nick's boat," she wondered, but Rick had no trouble believing Ridge would let Nick take the fall. "I don't think Nick is guilty, but Ridge could be," he surmised.

Phoebe's excitement grew as she watched Constantine record at the studio. As soon as he spotted her, he cut the song and called her in into the booth. They made small talk and then, after he finished recording, he introduced Phoebe to his "sound mixer to the stars," Todd. He raved to Todd about her skillz without ever taking his eyes off her. Then Todd left and Constantine and Phoebe talked about "the business." She was touched when he said her karaoke "inspired" him.

Rick gushed to Eric about how much Phoebe has the "it" factor that draws him to her. Eric concurred, and said Phoebe reminded him of Brooke. "They're both beautiful and enchanting," Eric commented, conceding that he misses Brooke "more than Stephanie would like to know." Eric told Rick how he and Bridget are a real blessing to him.

At Insomnia, Phoebe was immediately smitten with Constantine, and pleasantly surprised to meet him. "I can't believe I'm sitting here with you," she gushed. Constantine complimented Phoebe on her singing. Phoebe downplayed it as mindless karaoke. Constantine wondered how much greater she could be if she tried seriously. He informed her that he's working on his own record label and seeking new talent — which is why he sought her out. Constantine told Phoebe he saw potential in her. He gave her his business card and invited her and Rick to come to his studio. "You have an amazing voice, and I just think that the whole world should hear it." Phoebe told CJ of Constantine's offer. Rick arrived and Phoebe shared the news with him, as well. Rick seemed a little cautious about Constantine's offer, but as he saw Phoebe's excitement he expressed cautious optimism.

At Forrester Creations, Jackie was getting stressed out trying to run the company in Nick's absence. Brooke arrived to check on things. A frantic Jackie begged Brooke to help her and return to the company. Brooke declined. "It's not a good idea for me," says Brooke, who conceded she can't work with Nick all day knowing he's going home to Taylor every night. Jackie persisted, but Brooke maintained it would be too painful. "Things could have been so different," Brooke sighed. "I've made too many mistakes, and none of them can be undone now." Elsewhere, Lt. Baker was skeptical of Nick and Taylor's plea to look beyond Nick as a suspect. Taylor and Nick persisted and laid out their leads and information, including Ashley and Ridge having a date that night and Ridge not keeping it. Lt. Baker began to take them more seriously when Nick informed them that Ridge took off for Paris. Bridget called Nick to confirm Taylor's appointment for her blood test. Nick and Taylor left for the hospital after Nick re-declared his innocence and insisted he's been set up by the Forresters. At the hospital Bridget took Taylor's blood sample and asked the tech to put a rush on it. When the tech saw the name on the test tube he told Bridget he'd been meaning to ask about the donor eggs. As Bridget got paged, the tech had a puzzled look on his face. Bridget returned to Taylor and Nick with the results: "Congratulations, you're pregnant!" An elated Taylor told Nick to call his mother with the good news. As Jackie beamed at the news, Brooke stood there, with the wind taken out of her sails. "I would give anything to be the one having his child, and I'm not," lamented a tearful Brooke. "It's Taylor....she's his future."

Storm tried to advise Nick to not rock the boat by going public with their own detective work, but Nick refused. Storm suggested they try to convince Lt. Baker privately first about their own leads and evidence, and only go public with it as a last resort if Baker refuses to consider what they present. Nick agreed but vowed not to take the rap for what Ridge did. Nick shared his suspicions with Taylor about Ridge. Meanwhile, Ridge expressed his fears to Stephanie that Nick and Ashley both suspect him. Stephanie suggested that the best thing Ridge can do right now is leave town. Ridge surmised that he could use the company's opening of its Paris boutique as a cover. Stephanie warned he better steer clear of Taylor, because she's the one person who can read him accurately no matter what kind of poker face he puts on. Sure enough, Taylor arrived just after Ridge left and grilled Stephanie on the precise details of the events the night Shane was killed. Stephanie stonewalled but Taylor wasn't swayed. As Taylor pressed on with her questioning, Stephanie displayed her anxiety with her fidgeting and stumbling on her answers. This fueled Taylor's suspicions. When Taylor asked to speak to Ridge, Stephanie told her Ridge was in Paris on business. When Taylor realized she wasn't getting anything further out of Stephanie she left. Stephanie expressed her worry to Ridge that Taylor is on to them. Back home, Taylor declared her fear to Nick that Stephanie and Ridge are definitely hiding something. Lt. Baker arrived with his partner.

At Insomnia, Phoebe and Rick discussed whether Ridge could be responsible for killing Shane. An irate Felicia arrived and admonished them for their Web video, which they knew nothing about. CJ showed the video clip of their karaoke performance on the 'Net, which surprised them all. From his laptop, Constantine expressed surprise at the number of hits Rick and Phoebe's music video clip had already received. After reading a blog entry about Rick and Phoebe, an intrigued Constantine decided to research them further online. Constantine arrived at Insomnia and asked CJ about Phoebe, who directed him to her table. Phoebe was finishing a call when she dropped her cell phone. Constantine picked up her phone for her. As the two locked eyes, Phoebe recognized him: "Constantine?!"

At Forrester Originals, a guilt-ridden Ridge flashed back to the night Shane was killed. Phoebe arrived and warned Ridge of Nick's suspicions. Nick tried to persuade Ashley that Ridge is guilty of setting him up. Ashley was having none of it, but Nick insisted to give him a chance because his life depends on it. Ashley relented and recounted her memories of the night Shane was killed. Ashley told him she had a date with Ridge that night but never saw him. The more details Ashley fed Nick about that night the more suspicious Nick became. Ashley became visibly upset as it seemed that the circumstantial evidence began to paint Ridge in a somewhat guilty or suspicious light. Nick gave Ashley his number and asked her to call if she recalled anything else. After Nick left, Ashley had a flashback to that night to the moment in the lab where she and Stephanie heard the sound of the gunshot and Stephanie blamed it on the freight elevator. "No, it couldn't be," Ashley whispered to herself. Ashley's doorbell rang and she assumed it was Ridge returning, but it turned out to be Stephanie. Stephanie deduced that Nick had spoken to her to pump her for info about the night Shane was killed and asked Ashley about it. Ashley then asked Stephanie to recall the noise they heard in the lab. At first Stephanie denied hearing anything, but eventually came around and agreed to hearing it. However, she denied it sounded a gunshot, and advised Ashley that it was wise to not share that characterization with Nick or the police.

Taylor vigorously defended Nick to Stephanie, and was annoyed with Stephanie's attempt to meddle in her life. Taylor reminded Stephanie that whatever happens to Nick also happens to his wife, and declared that she doesn't need friends like Stephanie. Steph defended her actions and insisted she's only had Taylor's best interests at heart. Taylor got a call from Nick who told him he had just questioned Ashley and got a few more pieces of info but had another stop to make. Taylor warned Stephanie that she's not going to like the news of who Nick thinks really killed Shane. After Stephanie left Taylor had flashbacks to her in vitro procedure and her showing Nick the ultrasound image from the fertilization. Phoebe arrived to register her annoyance with Nick for trying to pin Shane's death on Ridge.

Nick surprised Ridge in his office back at Forrester Originals: "So this is where it happened," Nick challenged Ridge. Ridge stonewalled and gave Nick a good poker face but Nick didn't believe him. "Somebody's going to go down hard for this, Forrester, and it's not going to be me," Nick declared.
