B&B Recaps Week of Aug. 1, 2005

Friday, August 5, 2005
At her house, Brooke spoke to Nick on the phone about Hope, who was still unconscious at University Hospital. Brooke demanded to know how long her daughter would be asleep. Nick admitted she may suffer brain damage. Brooke was silent on the other end, but when Nick said her name, she had already run out of her house, leaving the door open.... Later, she rushed into intensive care to see Nick sitting over an empty bed. The captain told her that Hope had been taken in for an EEG. She yelled at her ex for taking his eyes off of Hope, even for an instant. The doctor came in and told them there was a new complication as the little girl was rolled back in. The doctor informed them that Hope had had two oxygen deprived seizures. Nick looked distraught as the doctor explained that Hope could suffer from chronic pain, paralysis and more seizures, but until she woke up, all they could do was talk to her. Brooke saw Nick talking to her daughter, and asked him to leave. Brooke sang to Hope — who started to come to — while Nick looked in on them through the door.

Jackie dropped by Massimo's office. She admitted to him that she hoped exposing Stephanie would lead to a reconciliation between them. She wanted to know how things could be better, and if there was something real worth waiting for in their relationship. Massimo gazed lovingly at their wedding picture, and talked about their past. He confessed that he didn't want to risk his heart again. She thanked him for his honesty — looking tragically heartbroken — said good-bye and left. Massimo sat at his desk, his face troubled and his eyes filled with tears.

Stephanie sat alone in the dark in her house, when Eric came in. He announced that he had come by for the rest of his things. She attacked him for his selfishness, saying he had been a bad husband and that she made him. It was her father's money that funded Forrester Creations, and she wrote the press releases that claimed he was a "self-made man." He sneered that he couldn't have been so successful without Brooke, which is why he asked her to assume co-CEO duties and gave her Steph's office. To drive home his point, he told his wife he proposed to Brooke because Ridge didn't take her back and that he'd keep on proposing until Brooke said yes, because he'd be happy even if they were only married six months. Stephanie demanded to know if he was still in love with Brooke. "Of course I am," he retorted, "are you just figuring that out?" They argued about their children, and finally she tossed him the Forrester Family Photo Album. He flipped through it and said, "I hope you took all of your pictures out because they're my family now", before storming out.

Nick pulled an unconscious Hope out of the water and performed CPR. After the tyke started breathing again, Nick called 911 and Hector showed up at the house with other paramedics. Hope remained unconscious but started having seizures so she was rushed to the hospital. In the intensive care unit, Hope was hooked up to a respirator. The doctor informed Nick that the next 48 hours were critical, but there was no guarantee that Hope will wake up. The doc then warned that Hope could remain comatose indefinitely or be in a vegetative state. "I'm so sorry," Nick sobbed at Hope's bedside.

Brooke was worried when she came home and found Hope and Nick gone. Brooke searched the house and became frantic when she couldn't locate anybody. Nick called and muttered that he was at the hospital. "Just tell me that my little girl is okay," Brooke tearfully begged.

Agent Dunn was still dubious about Thomas and Gaby's marriage. Tom insisted he was in love with his wife but Dunn questioned Taylor anyway. "Gaby is part of the family now and I don't think it's any of the government's business," Tay defended. Dunn went upstairs to inspect the newlyweds' bedroom. Although he remained suspicious, he left — for now. Thomas and Gaby thanked Taylor for helping them but she laid down a major ground rule: No sex for the teens while they're living under her roof.

"It would be easy for me to place myself in your arms right now," Brooke admitted, but she turned down Eric's proposal. She declared that Eric deserved to be appreciated and cherished, then announced she's through with being dependent on men. "I'm impressed," Eric smiled and then asked Brooke to run Forrester Creations with her as co-CEO. That was a proposition that Brooke happily accepted.

At Brooke's pool, Nick was still upset over his and Bridget's third failure at getting hitched. She tried to calm him down, but he ranted that involving her crazy family in their wedding plans was keeping them from tying the knot. Dante and Hope showed up and Nick was furious to learn that the sexy Italian was now a lodger at Chez Logan. "Just be nice," ordered Bridget before leaving. Dante and Nick began to snipe at each other. "You're a troublemaker," Nick sneered. While Dante and Nick fought by the spa, neither one of them was paying attention to Hope in the water. After Dante walked away ("to burn some steam"), Nick was horrified to see that Hope had been pulled under.

Ridge was shocked when Taylor asked him to leave. "Until I know with all my heart that I have you completely, I can't keep living like this," she huffed. "I know you love me. I'm not questioning that love. But the fact is, you're still vulnerable to Brooke, especially now that she's been so hurt by your mother. I feel as though I'm having to share my husband with another woman. And as long as there are three people in this marriage, I cannot be a part of it." He insisted that when they renewed their vows, he meant it. Tay demanded that her husband start acting like it. She then advised him to really think about their marriage while he was away on his business trip. Ridge was reluctant to leave, especially with Thomas and Gaby's situation still unresolved but Taylor urged him to go. After he left, Taylor broke down in tears.

Thomas refused to let Gaby go to Arizona to live with cousins she has never met. They then prepared for a visit from Agent Dunn. Tom asked his mom to help convince the agent that their marriage is real. Taylor refused at first. "I don't lie... you know how I feel about that," she ranted. Agent Dunn then showed up and Thomas announced that he and his wife now live in his parents' house. "Is that true, Mrs. Forrester?" Dunn asked a conflicted Taylor.

Dante drew a sketch of Hope, and Brooke was surprised to see him in her home. She was further shocked when little Hope broke the news that Dante was living there now. Oopsie. Then, Dante got the shockeroo that Ridge wasn't living there. "We're done," Brooke insisted to the Italian Stallion. Brooke blathered on about Ridge's dilemma and what a Momma's boy he truly is. She craved a, "Life without drama." (Yeah, right!) Dante praised her decision to go it without the pantywaist. Dante then shared his views about the future of Forrester Creations. Looking for a job? Brooke wondered. Boom! He's hired. "Well, not right this minute," she clarified. Of course not. Dante had to put on trunks to go swimming with Hope. But before he shed clothing, Eric arrived with a sympathetic hug for Brooke.

Ridge came home to Taylor. He'd been at Zuma Beach all night, staring at the water and wondering how he was duped by his mother. "For years, I had blinders on," he told his current back-from-the-dead wife. (Well, duh!) Taylor wanted to know — if Steph hadn't faked it, would he have still chosen her over Brooke? "Are you changing your mind?" Taylor demanded to know. Of course, Ridge still said nothing. "I hesitated," he told his wife. "She's moving on without me." Taylor wasn't terribly pleased by his lackluster response, and wondered if Ridge was really with her out of sheer obligation. Hmmm....

Eric vented to Brooke about being betrayed by Stephanie. He assumed Ridge would be there and she was quick to say, "No way." More talk about commitment and lack-there-of.... Eric stroked her face. She complained that they were both doormats to the ones they loved. Eric agreed. (Well, duh!) Eric recalled that they were both happy when they were married, and the only thing that came between them were her unresolved feelings for Ridge. Eric 'fessed than when he told Brooke he still loved her the other night, he meant he still loved her. "What are you saying?" she asked. "Marry me!" Eric replied. Yowza!

Taylor was crestfallen that Ridge didn't say he loved Taylor more than Brooke. What does that mean? pondered the shrink. "You're obviously still conflicted ... and that hurts," she stated. Taylor asked Ridge to move out until he can clear his head and decide what — and who — he wants. "Until you do, we can't have a life together." Fade out.... (And no, Dante never came downstairs in his trunks. Maybe tomorrow.... )

Brooke told Ridge that nothing could keep them apart now. "The children were so excited when we renewed our vows," he muttered. Brooke pointed out how his decision to stay with Taylor was based on a lie and she begged him to choose her. "Just say that your future is with me, R.J. and Hope," Brooke urged. Ridge couldn't give an answer which riled Brooke. She blasted him for being so wishy-washy and also about the years of her life she wasted on him. "I'm through being humiliated by you and your mother," Brooke vowed. Ridge tried to defend himself but Brooke finally declared, "I'm rejecting you!" She then removed her wedding ring and affirmed that she deserved better than Ridge. You go, girl!

In the Forrester living room, Stephanie stood alone in stunned silence. "I've lost everything," she lamented and poured herself a glass of champagne, then another. "What am I going to do?" she wondered. Gaby showed up and Stephanie explained that nobody was ever coming back to the house again. She then told Gaby to get a glass of bubbly. "We'll celebrate the end of my life as I know it," Steph announced. Gab got more and more worried as she listened to Stephanie beat up on herself for her actions. Steph then ordered Gaby to leave her alone.

Taylor arrived home and a shirtless Thomas noticed right away that his mother was upset. She explained that Stephanie's heart attack was an act. Tom got upset to hear that his dad was comforting Brooke, but Taylor assured him that Ridge would come home to them.
