B&B Recaps Week of August 14, 2006

Friday, August 18, 2006
Brooke searched through vacation brochures searching for something special to give Bridget for graduating from med school. Her make-out session with Nick was interrupted by Ridge's phone call. Nick playfully asked his wife to give up the fashion business for Marrone Industries. While Nick sang a new song he wrote about Brooke, there was a montage of special times they've shared.

Taylor cried and continued flashing back to the moment she hit Darla. Thorne walked in and asked Taylor if she was okay. Taylor held Thorne's hand and asked him what he was feeling. He said he wants to find the guy who killed his wife so he can tell the murderer about the great woman he killed — and then choke him. "It was an accident," Taylor said. "It's my fault." Thorne assumed she meant it was her fault because she didn't get to the Phoebe's flat tire before Darla. Before Taylor could spit out her confessions, Thorne rushed out to pick up his daughter.

A cop stopped by the fire station to give Hector a heads up that Lt. Baker was asking questions about him bringing Taylor and Phoebe to see prisoner Diane Walker. Hector brushed it off as the lieutenant merely wondering what he was doing with a woman like Taylor. When the cop made a connection between Taylor and manslaughter, Hector put an end to his sentence before he could finish and changed the subject to sports.

Baker arrived at Stephanie's and suggested that Phoebe isn't revealing everything she knows about Darla's hit and run and that he believes she's protecting Taylor. Steph was shocked and declared Taylor is an honest woman. Alone, Stephanie contemplated what the lieutenant said.

Baker's next stop was to see Taylor, "the person responsible for Darla's death." He said he would wait until Phoebe got home, and asked for a cocktail. When Taylor claimed there was no alcohol in the house, he reminded her that he found an empty bottle of wine there the night of the accident. He demanded he tell her the truth about that night.

The Marone Industries board members were agog at Brooke's suggestion to change the tanker paint colors from black to green. She explained that the move would signal the company's commitment to environmental responsibility. The bigwigs, with the exception of snide George, paid attention as Brooke outlined how Marone can be eco-friendly and still turn a profit. George scoffed and got in a couple of digs about her lingerie modeling days, too. Nick called a lunch break. Once they were alone, Nick told Brooke how proud he is of her. He urged his wife to join the shipping company, but Brooke maintained that she belongs in the world of fashion — not freighters. Brooke stayed behind when her hubby went for lunch. Looking around his office, she found a fashion magazine with her face on the cover.

Thorne dropped by Sally's desk at Forrester and chatted about dealing with grief. Thorne wondered if maybe Darla's death really was accidental, not a case of murder. But if that's true, why wouldn't the culprit have the decency to come forward, he asked. Lt. Baker showed up and reported to Thorne that he's run out of leads and mentioned questioning Phoebe again. Thorne wouldn't hear of it. Assuring Thorne he'd do his best, the investigator went off for a court appearance.

At the county jail, inmate Diane continued to unnerve Taylor and Phoebe by stressing that the jail sentence demolished her life. After the prisoner was led back to her cell, Hector hammered away with his scared-straight message. He argued that not only can't her money save her, it could make the court more determined to nail a socialite. Taylor persisted in talking about fairness and the truth, but Hector stuck with his dire predictions. As the trio left the prison, Lt. Baker happened to spot them. He got a cop to reveal who they had seen and was very interested to discover they'd visited an inmate in for vehicular manslaughter. Baker thought back to the night of the accident and recalled that Taylor appeared to be under the influence.

While Brooke asked Ridge why he was pushing her to split from Nick, her husband was preparing for the Marone board meeting he'd invited Brooke to attend. Donna slinked in to discuss her relationship with Ridge and ordered her brother-in-law to mind his own business. Nick predicted that she would get burned.

Ridge told Brooke that if they didn't get back to together, he'd move on with someone else. He asked if she was willing to let that happen. Brooke admitted that she still feels a connection and always will. Ridge continued to lobby for a reconciliation and pulled her into an embrace, but she left for the meeting. Afterward, Donna came along and was surprised when Ridge reported that Nick asked Brooke to join the board at Marone. His glum attitude clearly made Donna unhappy.

As Nick's meeting was about to begin, he announced that they had to wait for his wife. George, one of the board members, scoffed at the notion of a former fashion model having anything to contribute, but Nick argued that she is a successful businesswoman. Brooke strolled in and the meeting commenced. George made a point of patronizing the missus, but she confidently offered her suggestion: Marone should paint the black tankers green. Wacky harmonica music ensued.

Phoebe urged her mom to come clean about accidentally killing Darla. She insisted that a judge would go easy on Taylor. Just as the shrink agreed to tell Thorne the truth, Hector showed up at her door. He balked at her plan to confess and instructed her to come with him. The firefighter brought Taylor and Phoebe to the county jail to meet a woman he knew through charity work. She's now an inmate who got 10 years for vehicular manslaughter. She warned that hard time should be avoided at all costs. Taylor squirmed uncomfortably.

Brooke, back from her trip, and Nick celebrated her return with a morning roll in the hay. The mood was broken when she asked for an update on what she'd missed. Nick griped about Ridge and Donna's closeness. Brooke flipped and started ranting about her little sister. Nick, on the other hand, blamed Ridge and accused his rival of trying to make Brooke jealous. And it seems to be working, he pointed out. Nick gently warned his wife not to get caught up in Ridge's mind games. He suggested that Brooke quit Forrester and work for Marone Industries instead. Brooke laughed off the idea, but her hubby pushed her to attend a board meeting taking place that day. She gave in, but said she had to stop by Forrester first to pick up sales figures.

At Forrester Creations, a glum Donna arrived at work and told Ridge she hadn't slept well. She asked if what Nick said about Ridge using her is true, and demanded to know why he didn't respond to the question last night. Ridge said that he didn't answer because he doesn't know the answer. He admitted that he will always love Brooke and that he is on the rebound. Forrester told his former sister-in-law that he doesn't want to use her and is struggling to keep things professional even though she's so hot, sexy, a turn-on ... you get the idea. Donna responded that she's an adult and willing to take a risk. She noted that for the first time, she's not in Brooke's shadow and she's going to enjoy it. Ridge ran his hands up Donna's arms; after some smoldering gazes, they were interrupted by an intercom buzz. Donna went to slip into something more comfortable and returned in a pink negligee. Ridge started running his hands down the model's body when Brooke opened the door. She walked in and was tersely and pointedly all-business. After Donna wisely slinked off, Brooke again urged her ex-husband not to get romantically involved with her sib. Brooke blurted out how much seeing them together hurts her. Ridge said she could change that by dumping Nick.

A lovey-dovey Dante and Felicia cooed at each other, and he lamented screwing up with her in the past. Bridget walked in on the intimate moment and blamed herself for their past troubles. She gave her blessing to their relationship and kissed her ex on the cheek. After Dante exited, Bridget apologized to her sister for ruining her wedding. Felicia came clean about tampering with Bridget's skincare products and causing her sunburn and a botox-frozen face. The sisters made up and Felicia gave Bridget her graduation present: a stethoscope. Felicia asked if everything Bridget had done was because of Nick. Bridget confessed that she'd secretly hoped Nick would ditch Brooke in favor of her. She wondered aloud about which man her mother really wants to be with.

Bridget unloaded to Nick about her split from Dante and admitted that she'd used Dante to get over him. She told her father-in-law/ex-lover that she would one day move past her lingering feelings for him. Bridget worried that she was making Nick uncomfortable, but he assured her that she wasn't. As she prepared to go see a patient, Bridget announced that she had graduated. She hadn't mentioned it before because the timing didn't seem right in light of Darla's death. Nick warmly congratulated his ex and called her doctor.

At Brooke and Nick's house, Ridge and Donna beamed over a positive magazine article on the Brooke's Bedroom runway show, and traded compliments on each other's contributions. Donna thanked him for changing her life and noted that it's hard to fill Brooke's shoes. Ridge made it clear he thinks she is up to the challenge. Nick came home and scoffed at their claim that they were only talking business. Nick called Ridge sleazy, and Donna hotly defended her brother-in-law/boss. When Donna went upstairs to tend to a crying R.J., Nick accused Ridge of using Donna to make Brooke jealous and get back in her bed. Donna came back downstairs and overheard the exchange. She asked Ridge if it's true that he's only using her. When Ridge suggested that they talk about it later and left, tears welled up in Donna's eyes.

Thorne was dumbstruck by Taylor's confession that she is the one who hit and killed Darla. He demanded to know if she was drunk the night of the accident. She said no, but he realized that even if Taylor wasn't drunk, she'd still been drinking before she got behind the wheel. Taylor tried to explain, but her excuses infuriated Thorne. As he railed at her for killing his wife, Thorne's words echoed in Taylor's head. It turned out, she was only having a nightmare. Phoebe woke her mom up and Taylor told her about the bad dream. Seeing Taylor's distress, Phoebe said maybe she should come clean after all. Afterward, Thorne phoned Taylor to see if she's okay. He expressed his doubts about Hector and said he wants to be there for her. Thorne insisted that he owes her and that Darla is looking down and grateful for all of Taylor's help, too.
