Taylor to Thorne, as Stephanie looked on: "I'm so sorry." But she didn't say for what. Thorne thanked her for rescuing him and his daughter from their darkest nights, after Darla died. "You gave us our lives back," he declared, unaware that she's the one who took Darla's life! Before Taylor could confess, Stephanie asked for a moment alone. "I wouldn't trust you to tie your own shoes," Stephanie said when Taylor said she had to tell Thorne the truth. "Your life is a mess," the matriarch added. Taylor blamed Stephanie for the loss of her marriage. Enter Thorne. Stephanie covered up the truth, saying this was all about the fire at Hector's. Then Eric called from the hospital, saying they brought Phoebe in. When Eric wasn't looking, Alexandria disappeared from Phoebe's hospital room. Luckily, they quickly found her — she was hiding under a chair. Taylor, Stephanie and Thorne finally arrived. Dr. Bridget had info on Hector's condition too: they're monitoring his concussion. Eric noted that Stephanie wreaked of smoke. Stephanie observed Thorne and Taylor growing closer.
Taylor went in to see Phoebe, who apparently had a panic attack, according to Dr. Bridget. When everyone left but Stephanie, Taylor revealed to Phoebe that Stephanie knows the truth. Stephanie asked Phoebe to make sure her mother goes to an AA meeting every day. Taylor insisted on telling Thorne the truth, but will she?

As the fire raged around them, Stephanie shook a tied-up Taylor and demanded to know if she was drunk and hit Darla the night Darla was killed. Taylor begged Stephanie to save her, or at least Hector, who remained unconscious. Stephanie screamed that she won't help until she hears the truth. Taylor confessed that she's the one who killed Darla and screamed an apology. Stephanie took a moment to absorb Taylor's confession before snapping out of it and cutting Taylor loose. The two of them tried to lift the beam covering Hector but failed. As the fire worsened, Stephanie dragged Taylor out of the house. The fire company arrived, rescued Hector from the house and put him in an ambulance. The firefighters told Taylor that Hector's face was burned from the fire.
As Phoebe babysat Alexandria, Phoebe began to have guilty feelings about Darla. She then saw a bloody hand and body that looked like Darla. An anxious Phoebe decided she needed to rest, and laid down on the sofa to take a nap. Eric arrived to check on Alexandria, who opened the door for him. She told Eric that Phoebe wasn't feeling well. Eric came inside to check on Phoebe. As he knelt beside her and woke her up on the sofa, Phoebe opened her eyes and saw a bloody Darla instead of Eric.
Thorne confronted Lt. Baker about his theory that Taylor was Darla's killer. Thorne angrily rejected the theory as Lt. Baker elaborated. An enraged Thorne declared that Lt. Baker is off the case. Baker said Thorne doesn't have that authority, and dropped the bombshell on Thorne that Taylor had a DUI conviction in the spring. A surprised Thorne insisted that still doesn't prove anything. When Thorne left another detective informed Lt. Baker about the fire at Hector's house. Lt. Baker went to the scene to investigate.
Stephanie took Taylor back to the Forrester house, and lambasted her for doing something so incomprehensible: How could she kill Darla and then NOT say anything to anyone? Stephanie further asked how she could use her own daughter to help cover it up, especially considering that Phoebe is now a basket case thanks to all the deception. Taylor tearfully gave her recollection of the events of the night of the accident. Stephanie admonished Taylor, and said while hitting Darla may have been an accident, covering it up is a crime. Thorne then returned home. Stephanie told Thorne that Taylor has something she wants to tell him....

Hector overpowered Taylor and tied her to his staircase railing. He refused to let her go until she listened to reason. Taylor begged him to let her go and reassured him it's not too late to do the "right thing" and be the good guy she's always known him to be. Hector said it is too late, they are past the point of no return. Hector professed his love for Taylor and told Taylor she now has to love herself — enough to not destroy her life by confessing. Hector said he has enough money saved up for them to relocate to Mexico and start a new life. Taylor confessed that while Hector's been a good friend to her, she doesn't have any romantic feelings for him. Hector's cell phone rang — Phoebe called asking for her mom. Hector said she's in the middle of something and hung up. Taylor told Hector she's hated what he's become. Hector said he's put everything on the line for her. Hector said he's been a hero and helper his whole life. He lit a newspaper on fire and held it out to explain how fire can be your best friend or worst enemy. As Hector sank into a delusional tirade, Taylor kicked him in an attempt to free herself. Hector went flying and was knocked unconscious by some beams that fell from the ceiling, while the burning newspaper landed next to a tarp where a can of paint thinner got knocked over and started to spill onto the tarp. Taylor cried out for Hector, who was nonresponsive. The paint thinner-soaked tarp quickly caught fire. The fire spread to an electrical outlet, which knocked the power out and spread the fire further.
Stephanie flashed back to her conversation with Lt. Baker and began to wonder if he was right about Darla. Thorne expressed to Stephanie his dissatisfaction in the slow progress of the case. Stephanie admitted to Thorne that Lt. Baker visited her and shared certain "theories." A perturbed Thorne took off to see the lieutenant. Thorne went to the precinct to confront Lt. Baker and asked him point blank if he knew who killed his wife, and why he was sharing his theories with his mother and not him. Lt. Baker said he was trying to spare Thorne unnecessary pain and right now there is no conclusive evidence to indict anyone. Lt. Baker warned Thorne that his other "theory" may not be easy to hear. When Thorne pressed, Lt. Baker connected the dots for a bewildered Thorne to realize that Taylor might be the culprit.
Stephanie arrived at Taylor's place to speak with her, and quizzed Phoebe on what Taylor's doing and where. Phoebe said Taylor is at Hector's, and told Stephanie that Hector hung up on her. Stephanie sensed how upset Phoebe was. When she pushed Phoebe for answers, Phoebe cried that "it" wasn't her mother's fault, and ran off. Stephanie drove over to Hector's in search of Taylor, as she put the pieces of the puzzle together in her mind. When Stephanie arrived Hector's place was up in smoke. Stephanie found Taylor tied to the staircase. Taylor screamed for Stephanie to rescue her. But rather than untie Taylor, Stephanie grabbed her and asked: "Did you kill Darla?!"

At the firehouse, Lt. Baker paid a visit to Hector. The two locked horns as Lt. Baker grilled him about why he, Taylor and Phoebe were visiting someone in prison convicted of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Hector said he wanted to show Taylor and Phoebe the consequences of drinking and driving. Lt. Baker said he thinks Hector is lying to him. Hector said unless he wants to arrest him he has nothing more to say. Lt. Baker said you can't always count on strong leads and good evidence but you can always count on guilt. Phoebe begged Taylor to reconsider confessing, but Taylor insisted people have to face their mistakes no matter how scary they might be. Taylor admitted she's scared for Phoebe and Thomas and their sister, and instructed Phoebe that the three of them will have to stick together, and not to let anything come between them — not even her. Taylor and Phoebe hugged and cried. Ridge arrived and asked why she wanted to see him. Taylor said it's about her drinking "and a lot of other mistakes" she'd made. Taylor said she's trying to make things right. When Ridge offered to help Taylor said to just continue being a good father to their children. After Ridge left Hector arrived to warn her that Lt. Baker thinks she killed Darla. Taylor and Hector rehashed who was responsible or not responsible for what. In the end Taylor apologized for involving Hector, but concluded that she's going to confess to Thorne and her decision is final. Hector offered to drive her to Thorne's place. On the car ride over Taylor braced herself for the imminent fallout from her confession. When Taylor realized they missed the turn for Thorne's place, Hector declared he's not going to let her confess to Thorne. Hector drove Taylor to his place and insisted that she's not leaving until she comes to her senses. When Taylor tried to leave he overpowered her and tied her arms to the staircase railing.
Stephanie visited Thorne and Alexandria, who was home on a break from her summer art camp. Stephanie asked Thorne if there was anything she could do for them. Thorne said he needs answers about who killed his wife. Stephanie encouraged him to get on with his life and daughter and stop obsessing over who struck Darla. Stephanie insisted he WILL get through this, he just needs some help — and it doesn't make him weak for asking for it. Stephanie began to percolate on Lt. Baker's theory, and wondered if it was possible that Taylor was really guilty of Darla's death after all.

Thorne approached Phoebe and asked her if she thought her mother would tell him the truth. Thorne clarified that he's not questioning her mother's integrity, he just wants to make sure that Taylor feels comfortable enough opening up to him about whatever's on her mind. Thorne said he wished he could look Darla's killer in the eye so he could get rid of his rage. Lt. Baker leaned on Taylor, asking her if she honestly thought he wouldn't be able to figure things out. Lt. Baker revealed he knows about her past DUI. Lt. Baker laid out his scenario of the events, implicating Taylor, who kept on her game face. Taylor asked Lt. Baker if he thought she killed Darla. Lt. Baker stressed that he hoped he was wrong in his assertions. Lt. Baker conceded there is no evidence linking her to the case, but said he doubted he'd need any, because Taylor being the good person she is would want to do the right thing by Thorne and Alexandria. After Lt. Baker left Phoebe arrived. Taylor tearfully told Phoebe she can't take the stress and guilt of the secret any more. Phoebe echoed her mom's sentiments, saying Thorne can't get on with his life. Taylor told Phoebe that Thorne needs to hear the truth from her, regardless of the outcome. Phoebe offered to go with her, but Taylor said she needs to confess by herself.
Felicia flashed back to her conversation when Bridget recalled the first time she realized she was in love with Dante. Felicia expressed her guilt for Bridget being left out in the cold now that she's with Dante and Nick is with her mother. Felicia told Dante how Bridge confided in her that she hoped Nick's time away from her would make his heart grow fonder for her and make him decide to leave Brooke and return to her, but it didn't work out that way. Felicia decided to pay Nick and Brooke a visit to see how things are really going between them. Dante warned Felicia against meddling, but Felicia devilishly said she was simply on a recon mission. After Felicia stepped out Bridget dropped by to say hi. Dante told Bridget Felicia's theory that everyone would be happier if Brooke got back with Ridge, and that Felicia's over there doing her best to stir the pot.
As Nick and Brooke continued their night of romance and passion, Nick reminded her of his interest in having her join Marone Industries' board. But Brooke threw cold water on the evening when she suggested that she should pull back from Marone. Nick reassured her that she will fit in at Marone in time, while Brooke insisted that she needs to remain focused on Forrester, and said she's stretched too thin. Brooke insisted that this wouldn't become a problem for them, but Nick gave her the cold shoulder and went downstairs. Felicia arrived and chatted up Nick, throwing gas on the fire between him and Brooke as Nick expressed his dismay over Brooke's decisions. Felicia told Nick that Brooke’s feelings for Ridge won't go away, and suggested that Bridget is still in love with him, and will always be there for him.
