B&B Recaps Week of October 30, 2006

Friday, November 3, 2006
Nick was thrilled to hear his mother was showing improvement and was doing "remarkably well, considering." But the doctor was cautious, warning she might "never be the woman she was before the accident." Nick wasn't so sure it was an accident. In the waiting room, meanwhile, Brooke suggested Donna hold off on confirming that suspicion, since Nick was so fragile after his mother's accident and Brooke ending their marriage. Donna was surprised to hear her sister wasn't running back to Ridge, but still down about not getting him herself. She was considering leaving town, but Brooke said Stephanie didn't have the right to fire her and begged her to stay. After what she'd seen, Donna was too scared to go against Stephanie. Brooke was still hesitant to believe Steph had done something as bad as pushing Jackie over the banister on purpose, but Donna stood behind what she saw and insisted this was their chance to get Steph. (A little contradictory, but okay....) When the two of them joined Nick in Jackie's room, Donna didn't miss a beat before telling him what she'd seen. "She was pushed...hard," she told him. Brooke tried to calm the situation, but then Jackie spoke his name, which was her first word. She confirmed that with a painful nod that Stephanie pushed her. He told her he'd "handle it" and kissed her hand, before storming out. When Brooke tried to reach him on his cell phone, he sent her call straight to voicemail. She was worried Nick would do more than "just talk to her."

La Forrester, meanwhile, was getting the Brooke update from Ridge. He told her that Brooke wasn't dating him — yet — and that they had to be patient. She agreed, just glad to be rid of "Nick and his mother." When Eric showed up, talk turned to business and how great it would be to have Brooke back at Forrester. Ridge had designs to show Eric, but Eric wanted to go see Jackie. Steph offered to join him, but Eric didn't want her to come. "What I don't get is that railing is waist high," he questioned. "I don't understand how she could just fall." He stopped short of directly accusing his wife and after he left, Stephanie continued to insist it was an accident.

Eric arrived at the hospital, where he was quickly filled in. Brooke concluded that Nick "went ballistic and ran out of here." When they called to warn Stephanie to stay away from Nick, she was too confident and cocky to worry. Brooke insisted they go intervene and remained unconvinced that the push was intentional, but Donna wouldn't back down. Eric, equally unsure, went in to talk to Jackie, not realizing Ridge wasn't with his mother anymore. When Nick arrived at the manse, Steph didn't open the door for him, so he walked around back and broke in. "I know what you did," he announced, but she just accused him of trespassing and swore it was an accident, regardless of what Donna said. Furious, Nick chased her up the stairs, grabbed her and hung her over the banister! La Forrester looked petrified, but still wouldn't back down.

Donna insisted that she saw Stephanie deliberately push Jackie. Brooke quizzed Donna on whether Donna could be certain of Stephanie's actual intentions. Brooke pleaded with Donna not to stir the pot while Nick and Jackie are focusing on Jackie's recovery.

Nick arrived on the scene and demanded to talk to Brooke about their marriage — does she want to make it work, or not? Brooke said their marriage hasn't been working in so many ways. Nick resolved to try harder, if she would. Brooke said she's come to a very important realization: She can't love anybody right now. If she is to be in a meaningful relationship she needs to learn how to be strong and stand on her own two feet. Therefore, she needs to be alone, and not be with either him or Ridge. Nick professed his belief that they are meant to be together, and insisted that deep down she believes that, too. Nick went upstairs to pack his belongings. Brooke told him she never had so much fun or felt so secure as when she was with him. Brooke and Nick each flashed back to fond moments of their time together before he removed his wedding band and left. Later, Ridge arrived, and Brooke tried to explain the same thing to him, but Ridge would only hear what he wanted to hear, and kissed her before leaving.

Ridge happily reported to Stephanie his feeling that Nick and Brooke's marriage is dead. Ridge remained convinced that Brooke wouldn't go back to Nick just because his mother had an accident. "It's a done deal," Ridge smugly surmised. Stephanie said she hoped he was right. Stephanie warned Ridge that Donna still has a thing for him, and suggested that they dump Donna from Forrester and put her on the next bus outta town. Donna walked in and traded barbs with Stephanie as Stephanie left. Donna and Ridge expressed their shared concern over the Jackie/Nick/Stephanie/Brooke situation. Later, Stephanie confronted Donna with a helper who had boxed up all of Donna's stuff at Forrester: Stephanie fired Donna. Donna called Brooke and told Brooke what Stephanie did. Donna insisted this proves her argument that Stephanie feels she can do whatever she wants, and thus must be stopped. Donna declared she's going to tell Nick the truth, and hung up on Brooke. As Brooke tried to get Donna back on the line, Donna was busy leaving Nick a message on his voicemail: "Your mother's accident was no accident."

At the hospital, Nick was elated when Jackie regained consciousness again. Nick gently explained to Jackie what happened to her. Dr. Hillman entered and cautioned Nick that Jackie's recovery may take some time — and may not be a full one. Dr. Hillman encouraged Nick to let Jackie rest and regain her strength. Outside Jackie's room a nurse briefed Stephanie on Jackie's condition, while Donna flashed back to her recollection of the incident. Donna told Brooke there's something that she and Nick need to know — Stephanie shoved Jackie right over the banister. Donna truthfully recounted what had happened, blow-by-blow, to a horrified Brooke.

Eric joined Stephanie, and the two of them were joined by Lt. Baker, who was at the hospital on another matter. Eric and Stephanie got defensive at the sight of the detective. But then Stephanie cooled down and told Lt. Baker that she'd be happy to explain what happened to Jackie. At that moment, Nick arrived and rhetorically asked who is going to speak for his mother. Eric stepped into Jackie's room to check on her and had fond flashbacks of their times together. Eric whispered to Jackie that whatever happened wasn't Stephanie's fault. Outside Jackie's room, Stephanie gave her version of what happened to a very attentive Nick and Lt. Baker. Stephanie claimed that Jackie lost her balance coming up the stairs. Donna and Brooke listened from the sidelines. Donna was aghast to hear Stephanie lie — and vowed to make see Stephanie go to jail for attempted murder. Donna confronted Stephanie. After exchanging barbs, Donna called Stephanie a bully, and gave her a veiled threat that someday someone will stand up to "the bully," and it just might be her. Stephanie's curiosity was definitely piqued by Donna's warning, though she didn't seem afraid. Stephanie spoke to Brooke and instructed her to neutralize Donna, especially if she plans on reuniting with Ridge. Brooke insisted she could handle Donna, but Stephanie remained skeptical. Donna visited Jackie's bedside and vowed to make Stephanie pay for what she has done. When Nick entered Donna told her she wants to help, but Nick asked Donna to leave before she could elaborate. Brooke intervened and asked Donna if she was absolutely certain of what she saw. Donna said yes, and declared that, at long last, Stephanie needs to be stopped and put behind bars.

At the hospital, Nick expressed his disbelief at what's happening. In the OR, Dr. Hillman reviewed Jackie's X-rays before beginning surgery. As the surgery began Nick wandered into the hospital chapel, and whispered to God to "help her." Nick cried as he flashed back to fond memories of his mother.

Donna found Brooke waiting in Jackie's room. Brooke explained how Nick blames Stephanie for her accident. Donna questioned who characterized what happened as an "accident." Donna intimated that it wasn't an accident. Brooke retrieved Nick from the chapel when the nurse told Brooke and Donna that the surgeon wants to speak to him. In the recovery room, the doctor told Nick that surgery went fine but it will take time to see whether Jackie suffered any brain damage. Just then they heard Jackie mumble. The doctor quickly examined her and asked her a couple questions to evaluate her mental status. She passed, with flying colors. Nick cried tears of joy as Dr. Hillman and Brooke looked on.

At Taylor's house, Phoebe rebuffed Shane's advances and angered him. Shane tried to apologize for "trying too hard," and offered to tell her a secret. He told her how he gets scared for no reason sometimes, just like her. Shane reiterated his pledge to do whatever he could to save her and her mother. Each of them apologized to the other, but Phoebe was annoyed when Shane tried to chase after her again. Harry intervened and warned Shane to back off unless he wants something to happen to his other hand. Harry said Storm was there to talk to Shane. Shane refused until Phoebe asked him. Storm warned Phoebe that by testifying on her mother's behalf she'd be admitting to perjury. Phoebe said she was willing to do that. Storm then declared that Taylor's case all comes down to Shane. After feeling him out, Storm was convinced that Shane would stand up as a good witness.

In jail, Taylor woke up from a nightmare about Phoebe being in danger. She called for the guard, who told her she's not allowed to make a call at this hour. Taylor begged the guard to borrow her cell phone. The guard relented. Taylor reached Phoebe, who told her they just had a productive planning meeting with Storm. When Shane went to bed, Harry could tell that Phoebe was creeped out by him. Harry asked Phoebe if she knew what she was getting herself into. "Just until the trial," she nodded, accepting a hug of support from Harry.

At Taylor's house, Phoebe and Shane sat outside by the pool. Shane offered her his jacket when she got chilly. Shane asked Phoebe to sit outside with him a few minutes longer. Shane put the charms on Phoebe and got her to become more comfortable around him. He then told her there's something he wants...he wished that Phoebe would know him better, and know how he feels about her. Shane expressed admiration for her goodness — and her beauty. Shane reminded her that she's now a woman at 18. Phoebe expressed her appreciation to Shane for vowing to bring her mother home to her. Shane asked her to show her appreciation, and began to kiss her. Phoebe pulled back and reacted negatively. Inside, Hector thanked Harry for taking him to the courthouse for Taylor's hearing, and for his help with Shane. Hector confided his doubts about Shane to Harry.

At the hospital, Ridge and Brooke continued their makeout session in the linen closet. "Tell me this is what you want for the rest of our lives," Ridge declared as they continued smooching. They were interrupted by a none-too-pleased nurse. Brooke excused herself and rejoined Stephanie in the waiting room. Ridge returned just as Brooke left with the neurologist to speak to Nick about Jackie's condition. Eric then arrived on the scene and asked what happened. Stephanie recounted her version of the events. In Jackie's room, the doctor told Nick and Brooke that Jackie's subdural hematoma is acute and is causing the pressure on her brain to rise. The doctor suggested the possibility of drilling a hole in her skull to relieve the pressure. Brooke reassured Nick that Jackie will be okay, and offered to get him some coffee when the nurse came in to check Jackie's vitals. Eric stepped in and spoke to an unconscious Jackie at her bedside. Eric sweetly kissed her hand and urged her to come back to them. After Eric left Stephanie entered and expressed her regret over what happened. Stephanie asked Jackie to pull through for her son's sake because Nick is going to need her more than ever. At that moment Jackie went into a seizure. As the doctors and nurses worked on Jackie, Nick urged Stephanie to go to the hospital chapel and pray for Jackie, because if anything happens to her Steph's going to pay for it. Ridge pulled Brooke aside and asked her to confirm to him that he's the one she loves and has chosen. Their conversation was broken up by the doctors, who were rushing Jackie into surgery. Ridge told Stephanie he's concerned that Nick is going to try to use Jackie's tragedy to lure Brooke back, and he vowed not to stand for it — as Brooke consoled Nick with a loving hug.
