From his car, a menacing Shane watched Phoebe return home. "I've waited a long, long time to talk to you," he muttered to himself. Meanwhile, Taylor admitted to Nick she’s nervous about the pregnancy test. "It doesn't help that Brooke is circling around," Taylor lamented. Phoebe walked in and Taylor could tell that her daughter was upset. "It was a stupid fight with Rick," the teen whined and explained how she and Rick argued over their mothers and Nick. He suggested that Phoebe go hang out at his boat and she happily accepted the offer. As she was leaving, Phoebe was startled when Shane confronted her. He apologized for walking out on her at the Café Russe. "I blew it," he sighed, "It was really rude of me." Shane then complained that she never took him seriously and asked for her help to straighten out his life. Phoebe felt a little scared by his behavior so Nick threw him out.

Stephanie ordered Brooke to leave Nick and Taylor alone. "I don't want you going over there and seducing him, especially if she's pregnant with his baby," Steph fumed. Brooke reminded that since she is no longer with Ridge or part of the family business, Steph shouldn't be concerned with her personal life, but La Forrester pointed out that Taylor is a dear friend. Stephanie asked if Brooke would give up on Nick if Taylor turns out to be pregnant. Brooke challenged Stephanie to call Taylor and ask if she's preggers. Meanwhile, Nick and Taylor anxiously awaited the results of the home pregnancy test.

Ashley poured wine for her and Rick as they pored over a marketing plan. She could tell he was distracted about his problematic situation with Phoebe, so Ash tried to get Rick to understand Ridge's perspective. "It sounds like you've got enough sympathy for the both of us," Rick noted suspiciously, then berated himself for being oversensitive. They shared a happy memory from Paris and as they started to get close again, Phoebe called to apologize. He said he was sorry, too, but when she invited him to join her at the Marlin, Rick said he would check on her tomorrow. After hanging up, a flustered Rick bid Ashley good night. Back on the Marlin, Phoebe was unaware that Shane was watching her.

After Brooke pleaded her case for reconciliation, Nick insisted that they they weren't a good match. Then, Donna brought Hope to see Nick, who wanted a boat ride, but Nick had dinner plans. Brooke sighed as she watched her ex interact with her daughter. Then, Nick and Hope played cards and made a date for a Saturday boat trip. Brooke baited Nick with adopting Hope as a means to get him back, but Nick remained firm in his belief that they're over. Brooke told Nick to stop focusing on the negative. “Taylor's waiting,” he huffed. “I've got to go.” When Brooke wouldn't stop, Nick cleared his desk and suggested they have sex. Brooke insisted that underneath it all, he still wants her, then left.

After their kiss, Ridge suggested to Ashley that they put the brakes on. Ash insisted she wasn't going to rip her clothes off and jump his bones. She then ducked out.

Stephanie expressed her concern to Taylor about having a baby with Nick. Taylor had no time for Steph's talk of dumping Nick and reuniting with Ridge, then thanked her for her concern. Steph conceded and was glad she was happy.

Rick and Phoebe's kiss was interrupted by phone calls about Brooke's resignation. Phoebe wasn't in favor of Brooke's idea of going back to Nick. Rick suggested they butt out. Phoebe left in a snit, just as Ashley strolled in. She told Rick that she's not hoping for him and Phoebe to fail. She then said that the marketing profile he needed for a meeting tomorrow was in her hotel suite. He agreed to escort her back.

Nick met up with Taylor and apologized for being late. He was happy to see she had beer on ice all ready for him. As Brooke vowed to a sleeping Hope that Nick wants to be with her, Nick wanted to give conceiving a child with Taylor another try. Taylor informed Nick that Stephanie was there earlier and supported their relationship. Nick said he didn't care.

Stephanie showed up at Brooke's and warned her to leave Nick and Taylor alone.

Rumors circulated that Brooke will resign from Forrester Originals. Before heading over to the meeting Brooke had convened, Ashley asked Ridge if Brooke will really quit. "I hope not," Ridge declared, pointing out that if Brooke walks out on the company, he'll lose her forever.

Taylor surmised to Nick that Brooke was resigning so she can nab him. Taylor then invited Nick over to her place for dinner that night so they can also take a home pregnancy test. Meanwhile, Brooke informed Bridget that she wanted Nick back.

As the Forrester family waited for Brooke to arrive for the meeting, Ridge and Eric worried what impact her resignation will have on the company. Not surprisingly, Stephanie was too thrilled about Brooke leaving to even consider any adverse consequences. Brooke arrived and Ridge tried to convince her to stay, but it was too late ‐ Brooke had made up her mind. Brooke bid a tender good-bye to each family member (except Stephanie, natch)."You are the one person I respect most in this business," she said to Eric, handing her letter of resignation. Brooke shared a longing look with Ridge, then walked out.

As Brooke packed up her office, Ridge entered. "What can I do to save us?" he begged, but she said there was nothing. Wounded, he slunk out of her office and Stephanie showed up. The ladies were soon trading barbs as Stephanie crowed that Brooke's fantasy with Ridge had finally reached its "inevitable conclusion." Brooke walked out and headed to Nick's office, where she announced that she quit Forrester Originals so they can be together. Brooke started to kiss Nick and he pulled away. "You got to stop this!" he demanded.

Ashley asked Rick about their kiss. He said it could never happen again because he loves Phoebe. After Rick left, Ridge arrived and thanked Ashley for their talk in the closet, then gave her a smooch.

Brooke informed an incredulous Rick that she is resigning from Forrester Originals. "I have to," she said and explained it was a grand gesture to get Nick back. Rick reminded Mom that Taylor could be pregnant so Brooke changed the subject by asking about Phoebe. "We're not having sex," Rick admitted. "We decided to wait." Rick was surprised when his mom revealed that Ashley had originally called her for a job (he had always assumed his family recruited Ms. Abbott).

Now that Ridge and Brooke were broken up, Phoebe told Nick she wanted her parents to get back together, but also shared her guilt over putting her desires before her mom's happiness. "Are you the man to make her happy?" Phoebe asked and Nick assured that he is that man. Phoebe left and searched for Rick, but ran into Brooke, who shared that she is resigning from Forrester Originals. Phoebe was concerned that Brooke would go after Nick and pointed out that he and Taylor are engaged. "I guess things will work out the way they're meant to be," Brooke sighed.

"Here we are," summed up an exasperated Ashley about being trapped in a locked closet with Ridge. Since they had to wait for someone to come along and free them, they got into a deep conversation about broken hearts. When Ridge lamented about losing Brooke because he hit Rick, Ashley said she really couldn't blame Ridge for his actions. She then admitted that she's made her own share of mistakes and flashbacked to when she told Victor that she aborted their baby (in 1986). Rick then showed up and let them out. After Ridge left, Rick asked why Ashley didn't tell him that she called Brooke for a job. Ashley confessed that after Rick left Paris, she contacted Forrester because she wanted something more serious with him. "We should've had this conversation three months ago," Rick said and brought up Phoebe. However, Ashley declared that they could resume what they had in Paris and they kissed.

Stephanie advised Nick not to make the mistake of letting Taylor go — like Ridge did. "Sticky situation," Nick smugly surmised. Steph suggested that if Nick planned to let Taylor down then he should do it now before there's a baby. Nick didn't seem concerned when Stephanie warned that Brooke would be "relentless" in chasing him.

"You really have no shame," Taylor groused at Brooke who didn't fault her rival for being angry. But Brooke also noted that Taylor was feeling threatened or else she wouldn't be so defensive. "You're like a little girl grabbing somebody else's toys," Taylor summed up and said she planned on giving Nick a baby, which Brooke couldn't. When Taylor ordered Brooke to stay away from Nick, Brooke asked if Taylor would run over her with her car if she didn’t. Nick entered as the ladies were yelling at each other and he kicked out Brooke. He then assured an upset Taylor, "we are going to have a future."

Felicia reamed Ridge for hitting Rick, but Ridge insisted he was only trying to protect Phoebe. Ridge lamented that his relationship with Brooke was over, but Felicia was sure he could patch things up with Brooke. "Just because she wants to get back together with Nick doesn't mean he wants to get back together with her," Felicia pointed out.

Ashley confessed her fling with Rick to Bridget, who wanted to know why the romance didn't last. Ashley couldn't come up with an answer so Bridget asked how she felt about Rick now. "I like Rick very much," Ash noted, but, "he's with Phoebe now." Bridget offered to set up Ashley if she ever gets lonely. After Bridget left, Ashley remembered happy times in Paris with Rick. She snapped out of it and went into the lab closet when Ridge came in and scared her. Ashley dropped a vial which shattered on the floor but when Ridge tried to help with cleaning up the mess, the closet door closed and locked them in.
