"Just think, in less than 24 hours we'll be Mr. and Mrs. Marone," Taylor marveled to Nick. Bridget called with the news that their first choice for a donor has agreed to the procedure. Bridget said she needed Taylor and Nick to come to the hospital in the next hour so she could get hormone shots and he could give a sperm sample. "I'm sure I can rise to the occasion," quipped Nick. Before leaving for his appointment, Rick arrived. Nick asked him to serve as best man but for Brooke's sake, Rick "respectfully declined." Nick understood and they shook hands.

Brooke looked forlornly at a newspaper headline proclaiming Nick and Taylor's impending marriage, then flashbacked to their own wedding. Rick showed up to check up on his mom and explained that he turned down Nick's offer to be his best man. "Maybe you should reconsider," Brooke urged. "I think it's wonderful that you're close and it should stay that way." Rick called Nick (who was at the hospital with Taylor) and agreed to stand up for him. Nick was pleasantly surprised and Taylor was pleased too.

Ridge covered that the cell phone belonged to his mother. On cue, Stephanie walked in and was surprised to find Lt. Baker present. She was also bewildered when told her phone had been found, until Ridge stealthily showed his mom that it belonged to Shane. Steph quickly acted relieved that "her" phone was located. After Lt. Baker left and Ridge went to check on a pattern, Stephanie advised Ashley not to mention Shane's name around Ridge. Steph later met up with Ridge and urged him to hold it together but he didn't know if he could. "There's one hell of a time bomb in Santa Monica Bay," Ridge reminded about Shane's watery grave but Stephanie assured her son that McGrath will never be found. Oops. The next scene showed that his corpse had floated to the surface.

Rick was surprised to hear from Bridget that their mother wanted to have a baby with Nick. Rick didn't see a problem with that, which disturbed a worried Bridget. Brooke showed up and asked about her tests results. "You're totally okay to have a baby," sighed Bridget, but Brooke whined that Nick was only interested in having a child with Taylor. "I have to accept this," Brooke noted. Bridget said she was proud of her mom.

Taylor showed Nick a catalogue of possible donors on her computer. He was called away to a meeting and left Taylor to continue the search. Brooke arrived and Taylor assumed she was searching for Nick. Brooke declared that Taylor had won the battle Nick. "I will never be an issue in your relationship ever again," Brooke conceded. "I don't want you to worry about me anymore." She explained she didn't want to louse up any chances for Nick to become a father by causing Taylor stress. The women hugged. "You'll land on your feet," said Taylor. "You always do."

Rick apologized to Phoebe and explained that he finally accepted that Nick was definitely in love with her mother. The kids then agreed that they will have future fights, but will always get through them together.

After smooching a little with Ridge, Ashley suspected that he was having trouble getting over Brooke. "I'd like to help," Ash offered, but Ridge wouldn't explain what was really troubling him and just wanted to enjoy her company. They returned to kissing until they were interrupted by Lt. Baker. "I want to talk to you about Shane McGrath," announced the cop. Ridge became edgy, but Baker just wanted to assure Ridge that he knew Shane was causing trouble for Phoebe and the police will do everything they can to protect her. Their conversation was interrupted by a ringing cell phone. Ridge followed the tone and found a cell phone lying on the floor. He was shocked to see Shane's photo on the instrument. "What's the matter, Ridge?" asked Baker. "You look like you've seen a ghost."

Stephanie arranged for a cleaning crew to stuff the bloodied area rug in the incinerator. A rattled Ridge showed up and was plagued with guilt over Shane's death. "You have to put this behind you," urged Stephanie, who explained that she already had Shane's car towed away. Ashley appeared and, after Stephanie left, said she didn't believe a "business emergency" kept him from making their date last night. "I can tell something is wrong, just tell me what's going on with you," Ash advised, as Stephanie lurked outside the door.

"Just because I can't give you a child doesn't mean we can't have a baby," Taylor noted, then explained to Nick that they use in vitro fertilization, where a donor's egg can be fertilized with his sperm, then implanted in her to carry to full term. Nick was hesitant about the procedure, but when he observed Taylor's disappointment, he agreed. "Thank you," said a relieved Taylor and they kissed.

Bridget was bothered by testing her mother's ability to have children because it was her desperate ploy to win over Nick. "When you go to extremes, I worry about you," Bridget lamented. Brooke asked for a rush on her test results while Bridget continued to be concerned about her mother's motives. Brooke rushed over to Nick and declared, "I can give you a child," but he explained that he loves Taylor and they are going to have a baby via in vitro. A shocked Brooke tried to convince him not to turn his back on her but "It's got to be over." She quietly walked out, then broke down in tears.

Stephanie brought some cleaning solvent for Ridge to wipe Shane's blood out of the rug, but it didn't work. A distressed Ridge was resigned to turning himself over to the police and hoped they would believe that he didn't kill Shane. "I'm not going to let you go to jail for something that was an accident," said Stephanie, adding, "I'm just not going to allow it." Ashley unexpectedly showed up at the office door, but Stephanie was able to turn her away. Ridge lamented that "accident or not," Shane's blood was on his hands. Stephanie promised to help. "We'll get through this together," Mom assured.

Bridget informed Taylor that her eggs weren't viable and therefore she wouldn't be able to conceive. Taylor anguished over how to break the news to Nick.

"I can't believe this is really happening," Brooke gushed and started kissing Nick. "I love you so much." But he stepped away and said her life would always be intertwined with Ridge because of their son R.J. Nick declared that his future is with Taylor and he asked Brooke to let him go. A distraught Taylor called and asked to see Nick right away. He rushed over and Taylor shared how the odds were against her for getting pregnant. She tearfully offered to let Nick out of their relationship, but he said he was in love with her and not her ovaries. "You're stuck with me whether you like it or not," he promised.

Despite Brooke’s efforts to get info about Taylor's health, Bridget remained mum. Brooke mentioned that she overheard Nick say something about Taylor's eggs not being viable. She asked Bridget to run tests to see if she can still conceive, but Bridget tried to talk her mom out of it. "I need to know if I can give Nick a child," Brooke persisted.

Monday, April 23, 2007
In her car parked at the marina, Stephanie wondered what was in the huge bag she spied Ridge drag onto Nick's boat. Ridge returned to his office, where he frantically tried to rub out Shane's bloodstain from his rug. His mother knocked until he finally let her in. He claimed he had fallen asleep. "Oh, then you sleepwalked over and locked the door," she said smugly. Steph told Ridge she followed him from the parking garage to the marina, where she saw him take a big bag onto Nick's boat. He told her about his incident with Shane earlier in the night. "He's dead," she gasped. He defended his decision to not call the cops, and explained how he got rid of the body. "This isn't good, Ridge," Stephanie responded. Ridge picked up the phone to call the police, but his mom stopped him. She asked about Shane's car and family. "Maybe he won't be missed for awhile," she mused. Ridge went on about how he didn't think anyone would believe him about how Shane died. He showed his mom the bloodstain.

Nick found cigars in the sink of the Marlin and thought Phoebe put them there. He called the officials to say he was taking his boat out to an unknown destination. Once out, he tried to anchor, but quickly realized their was no chain on it. He assumed Taylor bought him a boat without an anchor. "A boat with no anchor is a boat that needs to go home," he sighed. An eyepatch triggered memories of Brooke.

Brooke and Bridget ate dinner together. Bridget told her mom it's time for her to accept that she and Nick will never work out. Brooke informed her daughter that Nick asked her to have a baby with him, but she’d declined. She realized it would've made a big difference in their relationship if she had said yes. Nick arrived at Brooke's place. She said he's the first thing she thinks about in the morning, and that she always dreams about him. "I wish to God that I didn't love you this much," she cried. He admitted his feelings for her are the same. "I don't know how not to love you," he said.
