Brooke came looking for Nick but found Taylor. They commiserated over their kids in the wake of Ridge's confession. Things were civil until Brooke fervently declared she would've done anything to get Nick out of jail, including "encouraging" Ridge. Taylor then enlightened Brooke about Phoebe and Rick's split and implied that Rick was as "sexually free" as his mother. When Brooke bristled, Taylor apologized for her "preconceived notions," and went on to rave about having babies with Nick. She speculated that Brooke was having a tough time with it. Brooke accused Taylor of being threatened by her and advised, "Relax and enjoy your pregnancy."

High in the sky, Rick didn't know what he'd say to Phoebe. "Stay away from 'I told you so,'" Ashley advised, adding that he should just "be there" for her. Back home, Constantine asked some pointed questions about Rick's call but Phoebe shrugged them off. He then convinced her to head over to his studio, but they ran into Felicia on their way out the door. On the jet, Rick assured Ash they weren't a one night thing. Focused on Ridge and Phoebe, she shrugged off labeling the romp and said she's instructed the pilot to keep the trip secret.

Felicia wondered why Rick had just found out about Ridge's confession. Then Rick called asking to meet Phoebe and Felicia at the office, killing Constantine's studio offer. After watching the kids, Felicia had some words for "Casanova," where her vulnerable niece was concerned. At Forrester, Phoebe flashed back on confronting Shane and then threw herself into newly-returned Rick's arms while Ash looked on. Felicia was worried Constantine would hurt Phoebe and he urged her to "see what I'm all about." Felicia remained suspicious. Phoebe apologized profusely to both Rick and Ashley for "overreacting." Ash awkwardly excused herself and then Phoebe opened up to Rick. "I'm here for you," he assured. "Forever?" she asked. "Forever," he confirmed, kissing her...which Ashley witnessed.

Rick awoke singing (not literally) the praises of Mexican beach lovin' alone, because Ashley was gone. Phoebe called Bridget for news on Rick and Ashley's trip. Bridget sighed, "Relax," but once she heard Phoebe broke up with Rick, she gasped. Covering, she quickly reassured the teen that everything would be okay. Constantine soon called Phoebe to give her some moral support. He marveled at the acoustics of the Forrester mansion and then learned Phoebe and Rick broke up. No-nonsense Ash came back from a jog hoping to return to L.A. that afternoon, killing Rick's romantic buzz. She pointed out that the folks in L.A. would wonder why they never arrived in NYC. Rick wasn't exactly feeling the love — until Ashley kissed him into a better mood. In a post-coital glow, Ash brought up the Phoebe factor but Rick shrugged it off, reminding her of Paris. Back in L.A., Phoebe regretted how things ended with Rick, but Constantine was there to hug her and make it better. Rick tried to wheedle Ashley into staying "Baja" one more night, but Ashley saw Ridge's confession in a Mexican paper (right next to a blurb about Phoebe and Rick's breakup!). Apparently neither of them can read Spanish, so Rick called Phoebe for the 411. Phoebe apologized for the misunderstanding between them and whispered, "I need you, I really need you." A guilt-ridden Rick then stared at Ashley.

Nick woke up to Taylor confessing she was thinking about Ridge. No, not that way — she was boggling over Ridge killing Shane and letting Nick go to trial. Nick was more concerned with escorting her to the hospital for their very first ultrasound. They showed up at the hospital and ended up recapping the Phoebe/Rick breakup with Bridget. They then moved to the awkward task of Nick's ex practicing her OB rotation with Taylor's parts. "Our baby has a pulse," Nick sighed, in front of the woman who'd lost one of his babies. Nick and Taylor continued to coo over their blessed little event. Then they got the full report from Bridget's attending, as Bridget noticed Brooke's file labeled "B. Marone." Hmm. Later, Nick was convinced the newest Marone was a boy and Taylor was just aglow, murmuring, "Our baby!" over and over.

A free man, Nick returned home with Taylor. As the two lovebirds smooched, a forlorn Phoebe entered. As Taylor and Nick tried to reassure her, Phoebe expressed dismay at her dad's guilt, and regret at breaking up with Rick for being angry with him over his belief in her father's guilt. Taylor and Nick urged Phoebe to keep trying to get a hold of Rick. Taylor and Nick retired to the bedroom, and celebrated his freedom by making love. Meanwhile, Phoebe left a heartfelt message on Rick's voicemail, apologizing for breaking up with him, admitting to her fault in their disagreement, and pleading with him, "Please don't give up on us."

On the Forrester Originals jet, Rick informed Ashley that Phoebe broke up with him: "We're over." Rick surmised that he fell for Phoebe so hard and fast out of a desire to recapture some of his lost youth. Rick went on to compare what he had with Phoebe with what he had with Ashley, and concluded that what he and Ashley had was more mature, more adult and more real. Ashley discounted their time in Paris, pointing out that it ended so quickly and abruptly. Rick admitted that he was so devastated after their break up that he buried himself in his work. Ashley shut Rick down, declaring all that he can expect from her is some polite sympathy. Rick insisted he wasn't pursuing Ashley on the rebound. "It's not a competition at all. It's about what we had and what we felt." As the two argued he pulled her into a kiss. "I can't do this — no, no no," Ashley insisted, excusing herself to freshen up (read: cool down). When she returned Ashley continued to put the brakes on things, while Rick proposed they do something fun and crazy and chart the plane on a new course. As the plane changed directions, so did they, making out passionately....

Stephanie dropped the bomb on Eric that she "may" have given Ridge some bad advice: Ridge killed Shane, not Nick. Eric got upset at the prospect that Stephanie got Ridge mixed up in another mess yet again. Eric calmed down a bit when Stephanie reminded him of Ridge's sentencing for Grant Chambers' shooting, and then dropped a second bomb on Eric: Rick, not Ridge, shot Chambers. Eric seethed when Stephanie suggested they wait until Nick's sentencing to see if he gets a light sentence before telling the truth to the authorities. "Will you ever learn?!" an exasperated Eric questioned Stephanie, as he dragged her to the jail at police station to set the record straight.

At the jail, Ridge confessed to Nick, and detailed the night Shane died. Ridge insisted that he never purposely set out to frame Nick. "It wasn't personal — not THEN, anyway," Ridge declared. Nick seethed at the prospect that Stephanie was the one responsible for framing Nick for what happened. "As much as you deserve to be behind bars, I'm going to set you free," Ridge promised Nick. Taylor flipped out on Lt. Baker when he seemed indifferent to Nick's wrongful conviction. Lt. Baker brought in the judge and the prosecutor, and Taylor explained the truth to them. The judge explained to Taylor that a jury's verdict is considered "holy," and can't be undone by the snap of the fingers. The judge agreed to allow surveillance recording at Forrester Originals to be subpoenaed to look for evidence confirming Ridge's guilt. Everyone met at Nick's jail cell for an impromptu hearing, at which Ridge confessed and waived his right to counsel and the evidence corroborating Ridge's account was entered into evidence. The judge ordered that the verdict be set aside and that Nick be released. Nick confronted Stephanie with a parting shot before collecting his belongings.
