A shirtless Rick emerged from the beach house guest room to find that his sister didn't get any sleep. "What if the wrong eggs got fertilized," Bridget fretted. Taylor then called and asked if she could delay today's appointment for later in the day so Nick could be present. Bridget agreed and Rick surmised she wanted to share her suspicions with the Marones. When Bridget said they had every right to know what's going on, Rick pointed out that their mom should be informed too. Brooke arrived and worried that her daughter, "wasn't looking so well." Rick urged her to tell Mom what was going on but Bridget remained silent. Brooke then announced that Nick wanted her to come back to Forrester Creations but was taken aback by Bridget's emotional reaction. Brooke assured that her presence at Forrester wouldn't interfere with Taylor and Nick's marriage.

Phoebe woke up to find that she slept the entire night on Constantine's couch. After freshening up, Phoebe was disappointed there were no text messages or voice mails on her cell phone from Rick. Constantine suggested that they get to work in the recording studio and while Phoebe belted out a song, he sat mesmerized. When she finished, Constantine gave her some pointers about singing in a recording booth. Rick entered just in time to see Phoebe and Constantine looking cozy. "Why don't you back off," Rick growled.

Taylor wasn't happy to find Stephanie on her doorstep but the dowager wanted to know if Taylor was any closer to finding out how to jog Rick's memory regarding Grant's shooting. Taylor explained that getting Rick to remember may never happen and besides, that still may not have any bearing on Ridge's case but Steph remained hopeful. Taylor then reamed her former pal for all the trouble she caused Nick. "I don't think you'll ever understand how much you hurt me," Taylor spat. Stephanie realized that there was nothing more she could say in her defense but she warned Taylor not to allow Brooke to work at Forrester again with Nick. "You keep her away from your precious husband," Steph cautioned.

Later, at the clinic, Taylor observed that Bridget appeared tense. "There's something you need to know," Bridget started but decided to wait for Nick. Taylor then expressed her gratitude to Bridget for making the pregnancy happen. "There's like a new special bond between us," Taylor enthused and she embraced a an obviously conflicted Bridget.

"I really should be going," said Brooke and she broke away from her embrace with Nick. She was surprised when he asked her to revive Brooke's Bedroom line for Forrester Creations. Brooke wondered if Jackie was behind his job offer, but Nick proclaimed it was his idea. Brooke worried about what trouble such an arrangement could cause for his marriage, but Nick assured that his wife wouldn't have a problem with it. "Have a problem with what?" asked Taylor who just entered the room. Nick explained his idea and Taylor gave her approval. After Brooke left, Nick was surprised when Taylor got upset at him only to reveal she was just joking. Brooke returned, but when she saw the newlyweds passionately smooching, she quietly left.

Rick roused Bridget back to consciousness. After walking his woozy sister to the couch, Rick asked what has got her so upset. Bridget explained how Taylor may have been implanted with Brooke's eggs. "Taylor could be pregnant with our mother's child!" Bridget sobbed to a shocked Rick. Despite his protestations, Bridget phoned Taylor, who assumed the call was a reminder about tomorrow's appointment. Bridget didn't have the heart to burst Taylor's bliss and said they could talk the next day.

A thrilled Phoebe told Constantine that she and Rick had reconciled. Constantine covered his disappointment and asked Phoebe to record a song. In the booth, Phoebe seemed too distracted to sing and she attributed it to Rick not being with her. She called her boyfriend, but Rick said he was too busy to come over. After hanging up, Phoebe was hurt by his reaction and Constantine consoled her. When he caught her yawning, Constantine suggested that his sleepy protégé take a nap so she stretched out on a sofa. While she slept, Constantine took out his guitar and softly crooned a ballad to her, which included the lyrics: "All my life I waited for a girl like you."

Two lab technicians admitted to Bridget that they may have mixed up the eggs used for Taylor's implantation, which means she could be carrying Brooke's baby. "This is a disaster!" wailed Bridget, adding, "You don't understand the history between my mother and Taylor." She went home, where she was overwhelmed by the ramifications of the possible embryo switch. Rick showed up and was worried about his sister's distraught state. When Bridget wouldn't reveal what was bothering her, Rick left to get some takeout. While her brother was gone, Bridget worked herself into such an emotional tizzy that she passed out. A food-toting Rick came back to find Bridget collapsed by the front door.

Taylor warned Brooke that it may be too traumatizing for Rick to remember that he shot Grant. Brooke pointed out that Ridge protected Rick by taking the blame for the shooting. "It's time for Rick to return the favor," noted Brooke, who got upset when Taylor seemed hopeful that getting Ridge out of jail would keep Brooke away from Nick. Brooke assured that any hope she had of reuniting with Nick disappeared when Taylor became pregnant. "I would never break up an innocent child's family," Brooke insisted.

Jackie explained to Nick the lengths Stephanie went to in order to stop Brooke from revealing the truth about Shane's death. Nick was upset with how much Brooke has suffered because of the Forresters. He went home to find Brooke in his living room, where she explained that Taylor was upstairs "retching in the bathroom." Nick thanked Brooke for helping him to gain his freedom. "I do want you to be happy with Taylor," Brooke declared, but still regretted that she blew her chance with him. "You have so much to give," Nick whispered. "Any man would consider himself lucky to be yours." The exes then shared a warm embrace.

Pregnant Taylor found herself feeling a little nauseated and, ever the gentleman, Nick left a trash can by the sofa for her before going out. He kissed her and said he wouldn't be long and exited.

At the hospital, a concerned Bridget was fearful that Brooke's eggs, not Taylor's, were the ones that were actually fertilized with Nick's sperm in the lab. She and a colleague decided to review all the events of that evening with the staff, just to be on the safe side. Nick interrupted the discussion to discuss Taylor's condition. Bridget assured him that her nausea is normal. He thanked Bridget for all her efforts and kissed her on the cheek.

Stephanie visited a queasy Taylor, who snapped at her former mother-in-law for her actions in covering up Ridge's part in Shane's death. Then, she huffed that Steph will have no place in the baby's life. Steph tried to convince Taylor to lend her support to Ridge's defense, but Taylor wasn't interested in hearing it.

In jail, Brooke told a despondent Ridge that she had a plan to help him and it involved Rick. Brooke went to Taylor's and asked her rival to help Rick recall his repressed memories of the shooting in time for Ridge's trial. While the women were concerned about what remembering the incident might do to Rick, they believed that it was Ridge's only hope. Taylor hesitantly agreed to work with him.

Ashley and Rick compared their childhoods and noted that they both came from broken homes. "Drama. turmoil. Things blew up," joked Rick of his upbringing. "It's difficult to have a sense of stability," added Ash. Rick then stated to Ashley that what they shared was wonderful, but he's still in love with Phoebe. Ash said fine, then slipped off her lab coat revealing a sexy top. Rick put his lips to Ash's ear and asked her to stop driving him crazy. She headed out to an appointment.

Phoebe visited her dad in jail and offered him some kind words. Ridge said that no matter what, he'll always need his daughter.

Back at the hospital, the medical staff convened and informed Bridget that there were two petri dishes in the lab that night marked "Marrone." The lab tech recalled that the label for the dish used read "B. Marone," (as in Brooke!) but since the fertilization took place over a month ago, there would be no way to tell 100 percent whose eggs got fertilized. Bridget was horrified at the thought of a mix up.

Brooke paid a jailhouse visit to Ridge, who said he isn't sure he deserves her support. She was shocked to hear that he's being charged with murder in the first degree rather than manslaughter. Ridge observed that when he protected Rick (by taking the rap for Grant's shooting), Brooke thought he was a hero, but when he did the same for his daughter, it broke them up. Though she didn't see punching out Rick as heroic, Brooke tenderly promised to stand by Ridge.

At the lab, Bridget was troubled by something in a report: It seems Brooke's eggs, which were supposed to go to the research lab, were sent to the fertility lab. Meanwhile, Nick and Taylor were at home cooing about their impending bundle of joy. He surprised her with some drawings of maternity designs. Taylor's jaw dropped when she heard his idea for a slogan: "Just because you're as big as a house doesn't mean you have to look like one." Uh, no. Realizing he'd put his foot in his mouth big time, Nick did some fancy footwork, assuring his wife that she's not as big as a house, is still attractive and always will be. Whew! They went back to discussing his designs, but she suddenly bolted upstairs to throw up. Nick wryly offered to draw new designs.

An emotional, misty-eyed Phoebe apologized to Rick, who squirmed as she went on and on about how she almost lost him, but she knows he'd never hurt her and nothing would ever break them up. Rick made a beeline to Ashley, who was home alone (Abby was on her way to Genoa City to see her dad.) She correctly predicted that he was staying with his virginal girlfriend. After Rick's plea that they take a what-happens-in Mexico-stays-in-Mexico approach and not carry on, Ash made it clear that she still wants him, but he turned to leave. That settled, they swapped smoldering glances and he walked right back to her and steamy smooching ensued. Rick chalked it up to a good-bye kiss and again walked away, but seconds later, he was kissing Ashley. Then he walked away for real. Or as Ashley put it: "for now."

As Nick and Taylor chatted happily about their baby under the night sky, Bridget was at the lab puzzling over the mix-up. She gasped when she noticed the date of the snafu — it was the same day Taylor's donor eggs were fertilized. Gulp! Dr. Caron checked into the matter and figured out the problem, both Brooke and Taylor's eggs were labeled under the name Marone. Bridget yelped: "Oh, dear God, are you telling me that I might have implanted Taylor with my mother's eggs?"
