At a poolside party, Eric toasted Ridge's freedom and Ridge then thanked Rick. "I love you so much," Phoebe gushed to her boyfriend. Ashley watched as the young lovebirds smooched. Constantine called Phoebe and she invited him over to the party. When he showed up, Phoebe introduced Constantine to Ridge; Rick wasn't happy to see the musician. Ridge observed Rick's prickly attitude toward Constantine. "Let's just say I don't know what your daughter sees in the guy," Constantine groused then tipped off Ridge that Rick was a two-timer.

Rick assumed a glum Bridget was worried about the Taylor/Brooke situation (he was right). Rick urged "Budge" to share her suspicions with their mother. Meanwhile, Carl snuck into the fertility lab to search for proof that there was an egg-switch. He then called Bridget and urged her to meet him at the lab ASAP. Eric was concerned when his daughter made a hasty exit from the party. At the lab, Carl explained to Bridget that the labels on the Petri dishes were different, which means the donor's eggs were used and not Brooke. For further proof, he printed out the label info off the computer to double-check his findings. As he studied the printout, Bridget begged to know what it said.

When Ridge and Brooke were alone, he observed how they always find their way back to each other. Brooke asked him about his feelings for Ashley and he ribbed her for being jealous. "You know I still care," she shot back, but she also acknowledge that loving her all these years has cost him (we hope she didn't mean literally because that kind of loving would be illegal, Brooke). After Ridge noted how many times he let Brooke down, he asked her to come back to Forrester Originals where they need her passion and flair. She told Ridge she would be right back.

Nick was peeved that Ridge was released, but he, Jackie and Taylor returned to business by looking over new lingerie designs for the Brooke Bedroom line. When Nick was alone, Brooke showed up in his office. "I'm resigning, effective immediately," she announced, upsetting Nick. He blasted Brooke for forgetting everything Ridge had put her through, but she was determined to make things work with him this time.

As hard as the prosecution tried to prevent Rick from testifying, the judge allowed him to take the stand. Rick brought up his hatred for Grant Chambers. "I hated this man, he was wrecking my life," declared Rick, who recounted how he took a gun into Grant's office and shot him. The prosecution tried to point out that Rick is merely trying to help out his family, but he attested to his disdain for Ridge. The judge accepted Rick's testimony and ruled that Ridge's prior conviction wouldn't be allowed in the trial. Christine then requested a bench trial instead of letting a jury decide Ridge's fate and the judge agreed. Chris called Ridge to the witness stand and he detailed how the confrontation between he and Shane resulted in the latter's death. The judge scolded Ridge for his "horrendous and bad decision" in dumping Shane's body, but found Ridge not guilty of murder. However, Ridge was to be sentenced later for obstruction of justice.

The Forresters were elated that Ridge was set free and the courtroom erupted in jubilation. Ridge went into the other room to retrieve her personal items and Rick showed up. Ridge thanked him for telling the truth and remembering what happened. "I didn't remember a damn thing," Rick growled and explained how he lied for Phoebe's sake. He then demanded that Ridge finally stop interfering in Phoebe's love life. Ridge said he would, under one condition. "You respect Phoebe and don't let her down," he noted. "But I'm not going to stand in your way anymore." After Rick left, Brooke offered to give Ridge a ride home. "You didn't think I would let you take the bus," she smiled and they warmly embraced.

Stephanie found a brooding Eric who worried that Rick's testimony would get out and cause the young man public heartache. "We need to get a gag order," Eric proposed. Stephanie said she would take care of it , however Eric seethed that his wife has done enough. Steph then worried that Brooke could worm her way back into Ridge's life. "I'm not going to let that happened," vowed Stephanie.

Eric and Stephanie held a last-minute party in their living room, where they thanked Christine for her help. Outside, Rick informed a thrilled Phoebe that her father wouldn't come between them anymore.

At the courthouse, Christine told Stephanie and Taylor that she was going to ask the judge to delay Ridge's trial. The Forresters (including Eric, Thorne and Felicia) were depressed to see a handcuffed Ridge led into the courtroom. Once court was in session, Christine requested a delay, then submitted the text message from Shane's cell phone for consideration. The judge decided that the message was too vague to be deemed a suicide note and denied Christine's motion. She then asked to have Ridge's prior conviction for attempted murder barred from the trial because he wasn't responsible for pulling the trigger. Despite the prosecution's objection, the judge allowed Taylor to take the stand and opine that Rick was repressing his memory of shooting Grant. But once the prosecutor cross-examined Taylor, her testimony lost its impact. The judge agreed and ruled that Ridge's prior conviction would be admissible. A recess was called after which jury selection would commence.

Rick tried to console a distraught Phoebe about her dad's trial. Phoebe asked if there was any chance that he mentally blocked out assaulting Grant but Rick adamantly said no. "I have to go," Phoebe sobbed and rushed out.

Brooke showed up at Bridget's beach house in search of Rick and ended up confessing to her daughter that her life is out of control. Brooke realized that she could only blame herself for the choices that she has made. "I'm proud of you," beamed an impressed Bridget. Brooke tracked down her son at Forrester Originals and urged him to recall his past deed, but he remained unmoved. "Do it for Phoebe," suggested Brooke, who then left for the courthouse.

Court was reconvened and Phoebe begged the judge not to send her father to prison. Rick's sudden entrance caught everybody off guard. "Ridge never should've been convicted," Rick declared. "I do know who shot Grant Chambers. Ridge didn't shoot him... I did."

After Carl confirmed that he was cleaning the lab on the night the eggs were fertilized, Bridget demanded to hear what he knew. Carl became nervous that someone would overhear them and wanted to meet at Café Russe. "Let's be honest, you should eat more," he pointed out. An hour later, they met at the fancy schmancy restaurant, where Carl was dressed up in his old high school tux. Bridget kept trying to get him to explain what he knew about the eggs, while Carl wanted to enjoy their time together. Finally, Carl said that he needed a chance to get to a log that was under lock and key that listed when eggs were checked out. Bridget was miffed that Carl got her to meet with him under false pretenses, but he maintained that she'll see he isn't a bad guy once she gets to know him. Bridget realized she was being harsh and agreed to share a dance with the nerd.

Phoebe lamented to her jailhouse dad that she and Rick had been fighting. Ridge explained how he took the blame for Rick shooting Grant years ago. "He's not the type of person who would do something like that," exclaimed an incredulous Phoebe, then realized the sacrifice Pop had made to help Rick. "Don't pressure him," Ridge warned.

Brooke, Taylor, Stephanie and Christine discussed how to help Ridge's case. Christine's search of Shane's medical record didn't turn up anything so the ladies agreed that Rick's recall was the key. However, Taylor wasn't optimistic about getting Rick to remember his past deed. Right on cue, Rick entered and knew right away that they were ganging up on him. "I should call a shrink on the four of you!" he charged, then announced that he tried to remember if he truly shot someone, but nothing came to him. After Rick stormed out, Christine said they needed proof that Shane was suicidal. Stephanie remembered that she had Shane's cell phone that was dropped during his struggle with Ridge but all they found on the device was a good-bye text message sent to Phoebe. "It's all we got," Christine sighed.

Rick went to see Ridge in jail. "Jog my memory, Ridge," challenged Rick. "How did it happen?" Ridge advised Rick to go home, but Rick demanded Ridge provide details about Grant's shooting. When Ridge wouldn't, Rick said that he couldn't help and walked out.

While encouraging Brooke to work at Forrester Creations, Taylor was overcome with a bout of morning sickness. After resting for a few minutes, the women bonded over their pregnancy stories. Taylor insisted that she's okay with the job offer and left. Brooke told Nick that she was still worried that she would be "torturing" herself by working so closely with him. "Every time you walk into the room, I feel something," Nick admitted. "But it's time to move forward and chart a new course." The exes shared a few cherished memories and a tearful Brooke signed Nick's contract. "Something is telling me that you and I aren't over," she whispered.

"You're listening to the wrong people," Carl warned Bridget, but when two lab technicians suddenly entered the room, he had to hang up. A stunned Bridget headed over to the hospital and confronted him. "Tell me what you know," she demanded but Carl expressed his gratitude for how nice Bridget has always been to him. He then alluded to seeing two Petri dishes on the night that Taylor was impregnated. Bridget pointed out that the chief of staff personally assured her that the wrong eggs weren't used. A scoffing Carl asked if Bridget was going to believe the suits upstairs or "a guy who's down in the trenches every single day." Carl continued to talk in circles, frustrating Bridget even further. "I can tell you who the mother of the baby is inside Taylor Marone," he finally declared.

Rick confessed that there was another woman. "Why didn't you say anything?" asked Phoebe and Rick explained that he didn't want to risk losing her again. "I made a horrific, stupid mistake," he sighed. "I'm so sorry, but I don't want things to be over between us." Phoebe said she didn't want to end their relationship either and Rick promised that he would never stray again. "We have to focus on where we go from here," he affirmed. "I'm so committed to you... I need you. Never doubt that." Phoebe made him pinky swear and they professed their love for each other.
