B&B WEEK OF AUGUST 11, 2008 RECAPS

"Goodbye, Dad," Ridge sobbed after he turned off Eric's ventilator. A horrified Brooke entered and asked him what he was doing, but hospital personnel rushed in and rehooked the patient. Ridge ordered them to stop, but the doctor charged, "You're not empowered to make that decision." Ridge told Brooke to have the family gather at Eric's office.

Katie bonded with Marcus as he shot hoops and he rhapsodized how Donna "makes me feel loved." Katie was surprised when Marcus revealed that he has the hots for Steffy. "I wish you all the luck in the world with that," Katie offered then worried if she would be able to ge past Owen to see Donna. Marcus explained that Owen was now gone.

At Forrester Creations, Ridge explained to his siblings and Donna that their father is on a ventilator and he tried to unplug it. Donna became unglued and attacked Ridge. Everyone raged at Ridge for his actions, but he defended himself. "It's what Dad wants, I know it is," he insisted. Bridget then explained that Eric was deprived of oxygen after his heart attack. "If he wakes up, he's not going to be the man we know and love," she said tearfully and Ridge asked everyone to side with him so they could end Eric's misery but Donna strongly objected. Bridget pointed out that Donna is in charge of making decisions about Eric's fate and she wanted to give her husband a chance to recover. Ridge continued to state his case to give Eric "a dignified ending to an extraordinary life." Bridget agreed with Ridge, then Felicia, Rick and Thorne came around. "I will not give up on my husband!" Donna announced. Everyone left the room so Ridge and Donna could be alone. Ridge then urged Donna to set the man she loves free and Donna started to sign the paper to authorize Eric to be removed from the ventilator. Owen entered the room and asked what was going on. Donna sobbed that she was going to have Eric unplugged and he could tell she didn't want to. "Don't let them push you around," he advised. "If you feel there's hope for Eric you should give him a chance."
