B&B WEEK OF MARCH 2, 2009 RECAPS

Week of Monday, March 02, 2009

Charlie and Lt. Baker looked around Rick's porch. A panicked Steffy ignored the caution tape and demanded to know what happened and if Rick was okay. "We think it was intentional," Charlie told her of the fire. When the Bakers pressed her for suspects, she was clearly thinking of her dad. Later, Charlie brought his dad a hot dog and they noted that, given his part in Phoebe's death, the list of who would want to off Rick was pretty long. Lt. Baker called Brooke to check in and revealed that the fire was "premeditated" and "an act of passion." In fact, someone just driving by could've stopped and done it.

Brooke angsted over the possibility that Ridge set fire to Rick's house, nearly jumping out of her skin when Ridge came in. Ridge was curiously unsympathetic to hear of Little Ricky's misfortune and wondered if Brooke thought he did it. No, of course she believed her hubby! Rick came downstairs and flipped! The bantery insults flew fast and furious as Brooke looked on and then Ridge went off to work. "Ridge is out to get me," Rick insisted to Brooke. As they hashed things out, Steffy pounded on the door and then leapt on her boyfriend in relief. Brooke, no dummy, immediately realized they'd spent the night doin' the deed. She hit the roof, making sure to note the effect of their sexcapades on her marriage. Rick said Ridge would just have to live with it. "I can't be Daddy's Little Girl forever," echoed Steffy. Brooke pointed out that Rick was a target. How much more danger did he want to be in? Rick shrugged that Ridge probably already knew, seeing as he set the fire! After her call with Lt. Baker, Brooke's suspicions of Ridge continued to mount, but she didn't share them with an outraged Rick.

Stephanie woke a groggy Thorne, who'd passed out in his office. Donna walked in after a call with Eric and told them what had happened to Rick's house. Owen and Marcus were right behind her and no one was particularly pleased to hear Rick had survived unscathed. Cue a bitch session about how Rick had done them all wrong and speculation that someone might try to off Rick again. Alone with Donna, Marcus wished that Steffy could see Rick for who he really is. Donna cautioned him against venting too explicitly because someone could be listening. "'Suspect.' Does that word ring a bell?" she asked, urging him not to volunteer anything to the cops. Nearby, Stephanie sobered Thorne up with tea and got her rant on. Then, Ridge told Stephanie Rick thought he set the fire. Stephanie, noting Rick's Machiavellian tendencies, bet $50 that Rick set the fire himself. "It's so sick, but very possible," sighed Ridge.
