Philip asked Shawn if he was still in love with Belle, or else why would he be in Germany. Belle tried to convince him that Shawn was there as a friend. Phil didn't buy it. "I'm here for Belle," said Shawn. Phil then asked why Shawn had his arms around her. For comfort, said Belle. The nurse came in to take Phil for his prosethesis measurement, so the conversation ended. Belle implored Shawn to keep quiet about their relationship while Philip was recovering. Shawn asked her to choose between him and Philip. Who does she love, Shawn asked. "I love you," she cried. Shawn pledged his love to her. "This is bigger than us," Belle pointed out. "We can't be selfish."

At the Salem Speedway, Jack pulled Patrick aside and told him to steer clear of his family. Jen privately spoke with Jack about Patrick and urged him to trust Lockhart. "It's our turn to be happy," Jen insisted. Jack gave in. Jen invited Patrick to sit with them. Max thought Patrick looked familiar. Everyone was excited when Max won the race. Jack and Jen invited Max to their barbecue. The girls invited Patrick. A rain storm moved the party indoors. Jen forgot dessert, so Max and Chelsea went out to get ice cream, but first he drove her to the Salem make-out spot, where they... made out.

While Nicole and Chloe sat on the Titan jet, Brady confronted Nancy and told her he knows Chloe is alive. Nancy denied it. Brady insisted he would never love someone else like he loved Chloe. "Help me," Brady pleaded. "Help your daughter." Nancy said she couldn't. The phone rang; Brady grabbed it and said, "Chloe, tell me where you are." She hung up; Nicole instructed the pilot to take off. Nicole called Brady, who demanded to speak with Chloe. Nicole insisted Chloe wasn't with her because Chloe is dead. They hung up. Brady realized the Caller ID number was from the Titan jet and rushed to the airport. He stopped the plane from taking off and pulled a Dustin Hoffman in the wedding scene from The Graduate by yelling "CHLOE!" from behind a chain-link fence.

Nicole visited the clinic in hopes of whisking Chloe away on the Titan jet. Nancy declared that her daughter wasn't leaving Salem, but Chloe insisted that she was going away. Unbeknownst to Nic, Brady had followed her, but he couldn't find her at the clinic and when he realized that a fashion mall was next door, he told the nurse Nicole was probably shopping. Meanwhile, Nicole helped Chloe hastily pack as Nancy argued that her daughter was making a mistake. Still at the clinic, Brady phoned Nicole, who didn't pick up. "Nicole is definitely up to something," he surmised. The nurse brought Chloe her discharge papers and informed Nicole that Brady had been looking for her. The nurse promised to keep Chloe's secret and returned to her station to find Brady snooping around. He asked if Chloe was there, but the nurse told him that info was confidential. After short speech about love, she caved and hinted that maybe someone in Room 206 could help him. Brady rushed to the room, which was empty. Oh no it wasn't, he found Nancy in her hiding place and demanded to know where Chloe was. At the same time, Nicole and Chloe hopped in a car and got ready to drive off.

At the hospital, Lexie urged Jack to talk to Marlena about his terminal illness, but he asked why he should he do that when he only has months to live. Jack remembered that Jennifer and Abby were waiting for him at the race track and he'd forgotten an important condiment for their picnic, he hurried off. Meanwhile, at the track, Jen was amazed that Max Brady had become such a successful Salem 500 stock-car racer. She asked about Frankie Brady, whom Max said sent his regards to Jennifer. A mischievous Abby questioned her mom about just how close she was to Frankie. While Max took giddy Abby and Chelsea for a tour of the pit, Jen stayed behind to wait for Jack.

Jack returned home and was miffed to find Patrick, whom he thought was there to rob him. Patrick was in no mood for a confrontation since he'd already faced off earlier with Tek. Patrick explained that he was packing up and about to clear out. Deveraux ushered him out of the house and demanded that all traces of him be gone by the time he returned home. A winded Jack ran up to Jen at the track and announced that he was late because he'd gone home for the all-important condiment. He couldn't quite explain how he'd somehow forgotten it again. They made do with mayo and continued to ponder the great condiment question. The conversation was interrupted by Abby and Chelsea, who dragged along an uncomfortable looking Patrick.

Back at the hospital, Lexie reflected on her conversation with Jack, his obsession with sandwich toppings and refusal to tell his family about his impending death. A hand appeared on her shoulder. It belonged to Tek . Lexie explained that her patient was dying and didn't want his family to know. Tek talked about the importance of reaching out for what you want and she picked up on the double meaning. Tek told her he wanted to take her hurt away and they engaged in some loud lip-smacking kissing. A breathless Lexie insisted that she couldn't, but after he said he wanted her so bad, she could. The clothes were off she was on the desk and .... oh my. Oh my, my, my.

At the German hospital, a fuming Philip spied Shawn and Belle in an embrace. Belle was rattled when she realized that her husband was looking right at them, but Shawn said maybe Philip would finally realize the truth. When Philip wheeled into the room, Shawn started stammering and blurted out that they thought Philip had "one foot in the grave." An incredulous Belle scolded him for his insensitivity as the amputee smiled smugly. When Shawn apologized for putting his foot in his mouth, Philip laughed so a relieved Shawn continued with the "leg up" puns. Comedy time was over when Philip asked what Shawn was doing there. Was he still after Belle? Awkward.

At the hospital, Abe overheard Lexie and Tek talking and accused them of being more than friends. Tek took off. "Did your lover leave?" Abe bellowed. "Yes, Tek just zipped his pants off and left," Lexie shot back, then insisted nothing was going on. When Abe left for his appointment, Tek told Lexie she deserved better.

Jennifer, Jack, Chelsea and Abby planned a picnic to go to a stock car race. Jen was alarmed when Jack seemed ill. He shrugged it off, then told Jen he'd meet them all at the track. Jack then made an appointment to see Lexie. The test results were grim: Lexie informed Jack that his "white blood cell count is dangerously low." Deveraux asked if that meant he was dying. Lexie hedged by advising him to get a second opinion. "How many damn years do I have left?" he demanded. Lex sadly informed him that she would guess three months. She offered to help him break the news to Jennifer. "I can't do this to Jennifer," he said before bolting. Lex went after devastated Deveraux and gently urged him to be honest with Jen, but he insisted that she tell no one about his condition. After thanking Lexie for "having the guts" to tell him, he departed. Tek came along and drew a shaken Lexie into his arms.

Back at the race, Abby and Chelsea were starstruck by hunky driver Max Brady. Jennifer was delighted to see him.

Nancy visited Chloe in the hospital. Chloe told her how Nicole wanted Chloe to go to a Swiss clinic. No way, said Nancy, but Chloe began packing. "Nicole is still beautiful and I never will be," Chloe lamented. Nancy pointed out that her daughter wasn't showing a lot of respect for Brady by making a remark like that. He loves her for her. At the Kiriakis mansion, Brady asked Nicole who she was talking to on the phone. Nobody, said Nicole. Brady was suspicious and called Nancy. Come to the mansion, he implored. When Nancy arrived, Brady asked if it was possible that Chloe was still alive. Nancy lied and departed. Afterward, Brady told Nicole that he now believed Chloe is dead. Little did Nic know that he still thought his love was alive and wanted Nicole to lead him to her. In the meantime, Nancy returned to Chloe and said that Brady will never give up on her. Chloe wanted to flee Salem, but her mom refused. When Nicole left the manse, Brady trailed her.

Philip had nightmares of being in combat. The doctor warned him that his recovery would be tough. Philip cried that his relationship with Belle would never be the same. Philip went to his appointment and met a fellow amputee who revealed his girlfriend dumped him via mail and took up with one of his friends. Philip defensively pointed out that he and Belle are married and took vows. The doomsaying patient cautioned that she might seek comfort elsewhere. At the same time, Shawn asked a teary Belle if she was committed to having a future with him. Belle beseeched him to leave, but he wouldn't budge. Philip wheeled toward the room in time to spy his wife and Shawn in an embrace.

In Germany, Kate and John expressed concern over Marlena and Roman's closeness. Kate then said she was worried about Shawn's interference in Belle and Philip's marriage.

Roman visited with Sami, who was having breakfast with Lucas and Will. He questioned his daughter about Tony DiMera and whether or not the Count ever mentioned Caroline and Victor when she was in captivity. No, said Sami. Lucas vowed to find Stan; Roman said the Salem PD would track him down. Sami then admitted that Tony told her that her parents were alive and that he tried to get Sami to work with him but she wouldn't willingly do so.

Chloe dreamed Brady. Nicole entered Brady's room and began to seduce him. He thought it was Chloe and they started getting hot and heavy. When he came out of his reverie, he realized it was Nicole and demanded to know what she was doing in his bed. Brady then explained that Chloe has been on his mind and that the fact that Victor might be alive puts a wrench in his and Nicole's relationship. Nicole stormed off. In an attempt to get rid of Chloe, Nicole called her and said that Brady believes she's dead and that she needs to leave Salem right away to go to a Swiss clinic. From the upstairs bedroom, Brady saw that Nic was on the phone.

Shawn showed up in the hospital in Germany to surprise Belle. Belle thought she was dreaming, then told him he had to leave Philip's room. "You shouldn't be here," she scolded. Belle explained to Shawn that she needed to support Philip during his difficult recovery and honor her marriage vows. John and Kate caught them together.

Mimi had a follow-up conversation with Marlena. She told Doc Evans how Rex made her a romantic breakfast and she was unable to tell him about the abortion. Be honest, Marlena advised. Rex confronted Tek at the police station to find out what was going on with Mimi pleading guilty. Tek told him he couldn't help. A desperate Rex vowed to find a way to free her.

Hope and Bo squared off over her decision to give Shawn money to go to Germany to see Belle. Billie showed up in the middle of their argument with news about Georgia. She explained that she found a Web site where adopted kids who were 18 could locate their parents. She asked Bo to sign up with her. Shawn called Hope to thank her for loaning him the money. Billie overheard and freaked out that Hope was encouraging Shawn to go after her brother's wife while he was lying injured in a military hospital. Hope pointed out that Billie's concern was curious, seeing as how Billie had no problem sleeping with Bo knowing he was married. Hope then told Billie it was none of her business. Billie realized Bo wasn't on board with Hope's decision and called him on it. Hope asked her to leave. Billie said she would, but wouldn't let Shawn come between Philip and Belle.

In the hospital in Germany, Philip confided to Kate that he was worried about his recovery. Outside his room, John commended Belle for sticking by her husband. The foursome convened in Philip's room and explained to him that John and Kate got close when they thought Roman and Marlena were dead. They also discussed how John wanted to surprise Marlena with a vow renewal ceremony. The conversation turned to Shawn. Philip revealed that he had a newfound respect for his rival since Shawn led the boys to the desert. Belle privately admitted to John and Kate that she has feelings for Shawn, but he agreed to stay away from her while Philip was recovering. Good, said Kate.

Marlena had a meeting with her OB/GYN Dr. Bader and showed her the file of Marlena's pregnancy results without revealing she was the patient. Dr. Bader said the woman would have a difficult pregnancy because of her age. Doc Evans eventually 'fessed up that she was the patient. Dr. Bader realized that Marlena couldn't be pregnant by John since she was two months along. It's Roman's, Marlena revealed, then kicked herself for not being honest with her hubby from the get-go. "Secrets always have a way of coming out," she sighed.

Rex romanced Mimi in an attempt to convince her of his love. He also stressed that he wanted children and was willing to find alternate ways to do that. Mimi got upset when he started talking about what a great mother she'd be and told him her life was over. "I tried to kill Jan and I'm going to jail where I belong... just forget I ever existed," she cried.
