DAYS Recaps Week of Oct. 17, 2005

Friday, October 21, 2005
Good morning Salem! It's wake up time, and Abby sneaks into Jack and Jennifer's bedroom to make sure her dad is still breathing. Jennifer assures Abby that Jack's not kicking the bucket for a while. Jack pretends he's sleeping, but listens as mom and daughter discuss his fate. When Jack "wakes up," Abby apologizes for getting so angry at him, last night, and Jack apologizes for not 'fessing up about his incurable illness. Abby volunteers to make a special family breakfast for all them. Jennifer joins Abby in the kitchen, while Jack goes to play with Jack, Jr. Jack overhears Jennifer telling Abby that miracles do happen and can't bear to have them get their hopes up. He interrupts and tells Abby that he doubts doctors will find a cure in time to save him. A teary-eyed Abby runs into her dad's arms and Jennifer joins them for a group hug.

Billie and Chelsea begin their day bickering about all the money Chelsea's been spending and the sexy pj's she's wearing. Billie thinks they're inappropriate since they're living with Patrick. La Lockhardt enters and Chelsea tells Billie that Bo picked a fight with him last night. Billie wants to know what Chelsea did to upset her dad, which leads to more spatting. Chelsea calls Granny Kate for help AND more money. She needs an advance on her salary, so she can buy a new wardrobe for work. She's already worn all the fancy clothes Kate bought her. Billie can't believe her ears. When Kate arrives, Billie pulls her aside and asks her to stop spoiling Chelsea with cash and designer duds. Chelsea, who's eavesdropping, is furious; especially when Patrick sticks up for Billie. The spoiled brat storms off.

At the Brady house, Hope sends Zack — the tyke is back AND still the same age — to the kitchen to finish his cereal. Then, she and Bo get into it about Bo's run-in with Patrick. Hope warns her hubby that he better back off or he's going to alienate Chelsea, permanently. Bo sees Zack off to school; then, returns and presents Hope with a gift: a little blue sailboat with Fancy Face 3 painted on it. He made it himself to always remind Hope of the voyage they're on together for the rest of their lives. Since they're all alone, Bo and Hope cuddle and then some on the couch. Afterwards, Bo and Hope discuss Chelsea, again. Bo says he needs to make up for the 18 years he lost with his daughter. Hope tells Bo he just needs to be there for her now.

Lucas and Sophie rise and shine from their platonic pajama party. Sophie answers the phone, when Kate calls. Lucas gets on the line, and Kate congratulates him for moving on post Sami. Lucas blasts his mother, tells her nothing is going on, and hangs up on her. Sophie tells Lucas she heard him talking in his sleep about Sami. She wonders if he's really over her his ex-fiancée. Lucas insists there's absolutely no future for him and Sami.

Sami finds Austin on the computer, looking for an apartment to rent. Sami's thrilled he's staying in Salem and has an idea: Why doesn't Austin move in with her? She has a spare bedroom. Plus, she's unemployed and could use the financial help. Austin doesn't think it's a good idea. Austin tells Sami he's planning to start a new company based in Salem. It takes Sami about a second to hit him up for a job. Again, Austin doesn't think it's a good idea based on their history. What would Lucas say? Sami persists, insisting she has to move on with her life. She suggests that Austin live with her and they work out of her apartment, until his new business is established. Austin finally agrees, and Sami hugs him.

Bo and Hope showed up at Jack and Jen's, and Jack revealed he was dying from the "rare fatal disorder with no name." Jennifer was frantic about a missing Abby, while Jack asked Bo to keep Patrick away from Jennifer when he's gone. Jack convinced Jennifer to let him go with Bo to look for Abby. Jennifer asked why God was doing this to her family and Hope promised to help Jennifer and her family through this time.

Billie was worried about Chelsea not calling her back and Patrick tried to calm her down. Billie was excited about Patrick's album collection, and it was shockingly not filled with Rolling Stones discs. Patrick watched her dancing and then they shared a dance together. Billie thanked him for relaxing her and they kissed. Jen's phone call about Abby interrupted them. Patrick said he'd go look for Abby and Chelsea and Billie left Chelsea another message. Bo showed up looking for Abby. Bo told Billie about Jack and took off when he learned Patrick was off looking for the girls too.

Chelsea wasn't throwing herself at boys or recklessly spending money for a change...she was consoling a tearful Abby over the news of Jack's impending death. Chelsea said that Abby should consider herself lucky compared to her. Abby freaked, but Chelsea meant Abby can do fun things with her dad and tell him goodbye, something she didn't get to do. She told her to enjoy every minute with him and they hugged. They discussed their respective parents dying some more and Chelsea wished she could remember telling her parents she loved them. Chelsea vowed to stand by Abby just like Abby did after Chelsea's parents died. Abby left to be alone and Patrick found Chelsea. Chelsea rushed into Patrick's arms and shared the news about Jack. She cried about the loss of her parents just as Bo found them and demanded that Patrick take his hands off his daughter. Meanwhile, Jack found Abby and they hugged. Abby then blasted Jack for not telling the family sooner and demanded that Jack stop treating her like a baby. Jack asked that they not spend their final time together fighting and she ran off.

The pajama party continued at Marlena's penthouse as Alex brainwashed Marlena with the music, telling her that the only man she will remember loving is him, not John. A clock chimed, interrupting the brainwashing. Marlena remembered John giving her the clock, saying each time it chimed she should remember his love for her. Alex thought he had made progress erasing Marlena's memories of John. Marlena snuck the clock upstairs with her. Alex went out on the terrace and smirked to John. An annoyed John watched through his binoculars and told Kate he is thinking about kidnapping Marlena to save her from Alex. Kate warned him that if he does this, he could lose Marlena forever. John realized Marlena was in bed, so he thought this could be the perfect opportunity to rescue Marlena. In her room, Marlena remembered John asking her to lock her door and she did. Alex knocked on the door and she hid the clock. She opened the door and Alex gave her photos of them when they were lovers. Marlena seemed surprised, then recalled a fuzzy memory of them together. John was concerned he couldn't see into Marlena's bedroom and worried that Alex was in there. Meanwhile, Marlena looked through the album and wished she remembered her life with Alex. Alex said it will soon be perfectly clear to her which man she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

Shawn finds an upset Belle on the roof and wants to get Philip to console her. "I don't want Philip. I want you," says Belle. Belle confides that motherhood scares her. She doesn't know if she can give Claire what she needs. Shawn reassures Belle that she's a good mother, but really feels she should be talking to Philip about this. Belle ignores Shawn's suggestion, rhapsodizing about how perfect things used to be when they were together. Shawn admits it was great, but it's over, now. Belle has a husband and baby. Belle asks Shawn about his and Mimi's budding relationship and wonders if he wants to marry and have kids, one day. Shawn says he wants everything that Philip has. "Are you saying you want me?" asks Belle. Shawn explains that he wants a wife and kids, but he's accepted that it won't be with Belle. What they had is in the past. It's time to move on.

Sophie convinces Lucas to go out and celebrate his new job at Titan. They head to Java Café and Sophie fills Lucas in on her own ill-fated wedding and asks what happened between him and Sami. "Sami has trouble telling the truth ... I couldn't live my life that way," sums up Lucas, admitting that he and Sami are over. Lucas takes Sophie back to his place. Her apartment flooded and she needs a place to crash.

John confronts Alex about climbing into Marlena's bedroom from the terrace, while Roman, Kate, Austin and Sami listen. Of course, Alex denies the accusation. Roman intervenes and asks Marlena her take on the situation. Has Alex been coming on to her? Does she feel threatened by him? Marlena insists she feels safe with Alex. Peeping John insists Alex snuck into Marlena's bedroom. He saw him through his field glasses. Alex is outraged and orders everyone out of the penthouse. John wants Alex out. It's HIS penthouse and Marlena is HIS wife. "She won't be your wife much longer," notes Alex. Marlena admits she plans to file for divorce, thrilling Sami. Roman asks Kate if she saw Alex sneaking into Marlena's room. Kate says she did not. Without any proof that Marlena is in danger, Roman says there's nothing they can do. Sami reels that Roman needs to get both Alex and John out of Marlena's life, so that Roman and Marlena can reconcile. Roman instructs Austin to take Sami home. She's NOT helping the situation. Kate leaves, too.

John and Alex continue feuding. Alex threatens to file a restraining order against John. He accuses John of trying to force his way back into Marlena's life and of being an abusive husband. John begs Marlena to listen to him and reminds her of their wedding vows and their deep love. Marlena is deeply moved by John's words and even has memory flashes. Then, Alex intervenes and flashes his magic charm. Marlena returns to zombie mode and asks Roman and John to go. Reluctantly, they exit. Inside, Alex shows Marlena the charm, again, and says how important it is to destroy the memories she has of John.

At Sami's apartment, Austin says something strange is going on with Dr. North. He seemed so "territorial" with Marlena. Sami agrees Alex is creepy, but he did do one great thing: help her mom figure out she needs to divorce John. Kate shows up and tells Sami she's a fool. Alex isn't trying to help Marlena remember. He's cast a spell on her. He wants Marlena for himself. Sami's horrified, momentarily. Then, she starts spatting with Kate. When Kate slaps her, Sami runs out and heads over to Lucas' place to see Will. She finds a shirtless Lucas with Sophie. Sami dissolves into tears and runs right into Austin's arms.

Mimi and Shawn watch a video — it's the real deal, "Streets of Love" by The Rolling Stones — and when it's over, Mimi's sobbing. She's depressed over being alone, since Rex dumped her. Shawn assures Mimi that she'll find love again, and they both tell each other what great friends they are. Mimi falls asleep in Shawn's arms. He covers her with a blanket and kisses her; then, heads up to the roof to gather up the CDs he left there.

Belle's frustrated when Philip pulls away and tells her it's too soon for them to make love. Belle thinks Philip is turned off by her post-baby body, but he insists that's not the case. Dr. Bader said they should wait and he doesn't want to hurt her. Belle and Philip discuss her postpartum depression, and Belle wonders if she'll ever get back to her old, happy self. When Claire starts crying, Philip volunteers to tend to her and sends Belle up to bed. Belle can't sleep, because she's haunted by memories of Shawn kissing Mimi. So she heads back up to the roof, where she runs into Shawn.

At Alice's, Roman chows down on ribs, while Bonnie continues to flirt with him and Sophie continues to cozy up to Lucas. Across the restaurant, The Bickersons, Sami and Nicole, squabble some more over Austin. Nicole ends up losing her pool game and bet with Austin, when Sami coughs and Nicole misses her shot. Sami's thrilled Nicole won't be spending the night with Austin.

From Kate's hotel window, Peeping John peers through his binoculars and thinks he sees Alex sneaking into Marlena's bedroom via the terrace. John rushes over to stop him, while a worried Kate phones Roman for help. Roman quickly heads over to the penthouse, and Sami follows. Nicole's thrilled to have Austin all to herself. Too bad it doesn't last long. As soon as Austin hears where Sami's gone, he announces, "Sami needs me," and splits. Alone with Nicole, Lucas tells her that he overheard Sami say she had something on her. Lucas warns Nicole that Sami will make her life hell, if that's true.

At the penthouse, Alex programs Marlena. "John Black is dangerous. You fear him," instructs the shrink. "For your own preservation, you can't have anything more to do with him. You were right to ask him for a divorce." Just as Alex is about to bring Marlena out of her hypnotic trance, they hear a commotion outside the front door. It's John, followed by Roman and Kate. John wants to kick the door in, but Roman, an officer of the law, is against it. "If you want to stop me, fine. You got a gun. Shoot me," says John. Sami and Austin arrive, adding to the hubbub. Finally, Roman and John break open the door EXTREMELY easily, mind you. Marlena is surprised. So is Alex. John, on the other hand, is livid. "You bastard," he growls at Alex. "You're not getting away with this."

Belle nearly slips off the fire escape when she spies Mimi and Shawn making out on the roof. The noise startles the couple, momentarily, but they quickly get back to smooching. Mimi asks Shawn if he's ready to take things to the next step? Shawn wants to take things slow, and Mimi agrees.

Belle returns from the roof and apologizes to Philip for getting upset earlier. Philip tells Belle about Lexie's diagnosis: She may have postpartum depression. The pair share a kiss, before Belle gets annoyed by the sound of Mimi and Shawn laughing across the hall. Philip wonders if Belle still has feelings for Shawn. Belle says she's just worried that things might not work out for Mimi and Shawn. She doesn't want to see either of them hurt. Desperate to feel wanted, Belle asks Philip to make love to her.

Back in their apartment Mimi and Shawn nibble on dessert AND each other, when Mimi gets frosting all over her face. Shawn kisses it off, and the next thing you know they're rolling around on the floor. Shawn quickly puts on the brakes, and he and Mimi decide to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie.

Sami interrupts Nicole and Austin's pool game, and the two gals bicker. Austin says if they don't stop, he's heading back to New York. But guess what? They don't. Instead, each accuses the other of throwing herself at Austin.

Yet another Salemite, this time Roman, orders a drink at Alice's and confronts recovering alcoholic Lucas about the wisdom of working as a bartender. Lucas says he's got another job lined up at Titan; then, questions Roman about how the charges against Sami were dropped. Roman says Austin was behind it. Lucas is annoyed. Sami should have paid for her crimes. Roman's glad Sami is not going to jail so she can put the pieces of her life back together. Roman and Lucas commiserate about their failed romances. Roman is sure there's a "damn good woman" waiting out there for Lucas. However, having been around the block a few times, Roman doubts he'll fare as well. Enter Bonnie, who asks, "Any guy here in the market for a little female companionship?" (It looks like Bonnie has set her sights on her next man.) Sami pops over and tells Roman that Lucas wants nothing to do with her. Roman suggests that Sami move on, that relationship is over. Meanwhile, Sophie makes a play for Lucas. Lucas says he's not ready to date, yet. Sophie hands him her number and promises she can make Lucas forget all about Sami. Sami overhears and gets all teary eyed.

Austin heads to the bar and orders a coffee. Lucas gives Austin attitude about helping to get the charges against Sami dropped. Now she'll never learn her lesson. Austin says Lucas needs to give Sami another chance. "Are you falling for Sami again?" asks a flabbergasted Lucas. Austin insists he isn't.

The Bickersons, aka Sami and Nicole, continue spatting. Nicole warns Sami that she's going after Austin, and there's not a thing Sami can do about it. Sami reminds Nicole that she has the goods on her, referring to the fact that Nicole sabotaged Chloe's surgery. "When I tell everyone what you did, you won't be able to get out of Salem fast enough," threatens Sami.

Desperate to remind Marlena of the love they shared and stop her from filing for divorce, John pulls his wife aside to talk, despite Alex's objections. Marlena suggests they talk tomorrow; she's tired. John agrees but makes Marlena promise to lock her bedroom door when she turns in for the night. He wants to make sure Alex doesn't pay her any midnight visits. John's certain Alex is behind Marlena's decision to get a divorce, but Marlena insists it's not possible. John finally agrees to let Alex take Marlena home, and he and Kate head back to her hotel.

At the penthouse, Marlena heads up to bed, while John watches all the action through his binoculars. He's pleased to see Marlena lock her door and believes she's safe. Unfortunately, John stops playing Peeping Tom a few minutes too soon. Alex has climbed onto the ledge and is heading towards Marlena's bedroom room. Yikes! Considering that Marlena resides in the penthouse, perhaps Alex is the one who really needs a shrink!
