DAYS Recaps Week of June 5, 2006

Mimi had pains at the store where she and Belle were shopping and collapsed. She ran off to throw up, but couldn't. Belle took her to the Java Cafe to have a special drink for pregnant women. The description made Mimi nauseous. She hoped she wouldn't be sick through the entire pregnancy, Mimi noted. Mimi told Belle that she knew how important it was for Shawn to have his own child, like Claire. "Like Claire?" Belle asked. Mimi said she had to tell Belle the truth, then doubled over and said she was having bad cramps. "Something's wrong. Something's really wrong. I'm afraid I'm losing my baby!" she cried.

EJ took Sami to Lexie's office. EJ introduced himself to Lexie and said he wanted to donate his winnings from his last race in Germany to the hospital for breast cancer research. Lexie revealed she had a scare recently. EJ suggested Lexie be the face of the PR campaign and should get retested to show that even doctors get second opinions. Though suspicious, she said she would support the cause and get retested. When EJ left, Lexie turned to Sami and asked her what she was up to. Sami denied having anything to do with it and insisted charitable EJ came up with the idea on his own. The two hurled barbs at each other. EJ returned and said they were ready for her retest. She remarked that it was fast and EJ said that's the kind of guy he is. When Lexie left, EJ asked Sami why she cared. Sami tried to explain that Lexie was a family friend and she was concerned about her, but EJ didn't buy it. Sami was antsy waiting for the results. EJ asked why she was so jumpy. Sami was evasive. The results came back. Sami burst into Lexie's office and asked if she had cancer or not.

Jack felt ill and learned that his immune system is breaking down, that he is still dying and needs hospice care. "I'm used to it, "he said. "It's June. I must be dying again." The doctor apologized for the procedure not working. A delirious Jack called for Jennifer. An orderly came in. "It's you," Jack whispered. The orderly — Steve "Patch" Johnson, Jack's presumed-dead brother — gave him some water. "Steve? Steve?" Jack said.

Abby came to the courthouse and begged Frankie not to give up on Chelsea. He promised he wouldn't. Maggie, Will and Caroline arrived. Will said he hoped the judge threw the book at Chelsea for killing his cousin Zack. Will took a seat next to Abby. Max spoke with Chelsea and asked if she was alright. "No, of course I'm not alright." Billie asked Kate what was going on. Kate denied knowing anything.

Bo went over to Shawn and Hope to see how they were doing. Hope said she wasn't sure if she could relive Zack's death yet. Shawn asked which version of the truth Bo planned to say on the stand. Bo said the actual truth. Shawn sneered that Bo planned to protect Chelsea. Bo reminded Shawn that he protected him when he drove his motorcycle through the church window. There are two sides to every story, Bo pointed out. Victor arrived to show his support and warned Bo not to lose the woman he loved or else he'd regret it for the rest of his life. Bo hugged Chelsea, which made Hope grimace.

The judge took the bench and announced that there wouldn't be a trial. Pandemonium erupted in the courtroom. The DA objected, saying the charges shouldn't be dismissed. The judge explained that since he was newly assigned to the case, he wanted to do a hearing to find out the facts. The judge called Hope to the stand. She showed a photo of Zack and made a stirring speech about how it would be his 6th birthday that day. "But today there is no cake, no presents, no party with family and friends. Zack won't get to blow out his candles and make a wish," she said, voice shaking. Hope said she didn't want revenge, but that if Chelsea goes free, she believes she'll hurt someone else. She wants Chelsea to learn from the tragedy, Hope explained.

Bo was then called to the stand and tearfully admitted that he couldn't be there for Zack when he died and that he'd never be able to forgive himself for that. He said all he could do was what he thought Zack would want him to do. He asked the judge to show Chelsea justice and lenience. He took responsibility and said he should go to prison, not Chelsea. Why? asked the judge. Bo explained how he signed the papers to allow her to drive. The judge reminded him that he didn't do all of the bad things Chelsea did. "I'm the adult here; I should have taught my daughter better," Bo said.

The DA said she had a DVD of Chelsea driving and popped it in. Chelsea shot a worried look at Kate. The image on the screen was completely snowy. The DA said she saw the DVD earlier and that the evidence was there. Nobody knew what was going on. Kate looked in the back of the room and saw Eve, who motioned for her to join her outside. There, Eve revealed that she messed with the DVD. Kate paid her off. Eve then revealed that Bo was the last person in the evidence room and that it would look like he was the one who ruined the evidence. Kate gave her a bonus. The judge told the DA to make sure she had the right disc. She returned and announced the evidence had been tampered with. The judge ordered an investigation. When Kate returned to the court room, Billie shot her a look. Eve brought the computer records into the courtroom and announced that Bo was the only person in the evidence room that morning.

At the garage, Mimi told Shawn she wanted to go with him to the courthouse for Chelsea's trial, but he worried the stress would be too much, so he organized a shopping trip for her with Belle. Max came out in a sharp suit and said he was heading to the courthouse to support Chelsea. While out shopping, Mimi read her horoscope, then confessed to Belle that she didn't deserve to have Shawn's baby.

Sami brought EJ to Basic Black to meet with Kate, who wasn't there. Instead, Kate was having a secret meeting with Eve, a cop, who offered to help her get Chelsea off the hook by giving her the incriminating tape of Chelsea driving. Kate wondered if Sami was involved. Eve assured her that she was acting along. Kate turned her down, saying she didn't want to go to jail herself. Eve said to call her if she changed her mind.

Sami decided to wait with EJ in Kate's office and snoop through her stuff. EJ warned her against it and Sami decided that for karma's sake, she shouldn't rifle through Kate's things. Sami shared that she had a good deed to-do list, and Lexie was at the top of it. EJ asked what she meant. Sami said that she wanted Lexie to get retested for breast cancer. Kate returned and wasn't happy to find Sami in her office, but brightened when she saw EJ. Kate walked out; Sami followed.

At the station, Bo and Frankie discussed Chelsea's case and Bo and Hope's divorce. Bo asked Frankie to stall Hope because he didn't want the divorce. Frankie revealed to Billie, Bo and Chelsea that a new judge — with a tough reputation — was filling in for the one originally on the case. Chelsea panicked, but Bo said he'd take responsibility since he was the one who signed the papers allowing her to drive that night. He reminded her that there still would be consequences. Chelsea broke down.

Hope worried about what to wear to the trial, then realized it didn't matter. She had to see justice done for Zack and was determined to testify against Chelsea. Jennifer wondered if it was the right thing, since it could tear Bo and Hope apart forever. Jen chose a dress for Hope to wear. Turns out, it was a gift from Zack. "This is it. This is what Zack would want me to wear," Hope said. The two headed to the station. Hope said she decided that she wanted to salvage what was left of her marriage and that she was willing to meet Bo halfway. She walked into the station and heard Bo assuring Chelsea that he and Billie would be there for their daughter. Hope walked out. Jen followed. Frankie spied them and headed out. Max walked in; Chelsea flew into his arms and begged him to run away with her. The DA came in and told Chelsea that the case seemed like a slam dunk for manslaughter if she didn't take a plea bargain.

Chelsea called Kate and revealed what the DA said and begged her to do something. Kate said she wouldn't let Chelsea go to prison and said she had a way to get Chelsea off. Do not plead guilty, Kate advised. Sami overheard the whole conversation. Kate came back in her office and asked EJ and Sami for some time alone to make a phone call. She called Eve and said she would take her up on her offer to destroy the evidence. Too late, said Eve. Back at the station, the DA told Bo she needed evidence from him for a drug case. He headed to the evidence room. Eve followed. After Bo left, she slipped in.

Kate apologized to EJ for wasting his time and said she had to go to the courthouse. Sami warned her against bribing a judge. Kate wasn't amused and left. EJ told Sami he was taking her somewhere and they headed out, arm in arm.

Billie told Kate she suspected Chelsea was up to something.... Shawn arrived at the courthouse to support Hope. Bo saw them and went over. Hope asked him whose side he was on.

At Max's garage, an impressed Will, Lucas and Carrie got a look at Shawn's new engine concept. Max arrived with EJ, who went gaga over Shawn's design. EJ said he'd beat whatever price Titan had offered. Max balked and accused EJ of trying to steal the design. Shawn defended EJ, but explained he was sticking with Titan, which is the family business, after all. The Bradys also warned the newcomer that he should beware of Sami.

Over morning coffee, Austin gently urged Sami to smooth over her problems with Kate. Afterward, Sami was puzzled to receive a package for "Miss Brady". As she opened it, Carrie and Lucas arrived. When the bride-to-be saw that her wedding dress was in Sami's hands, she fainted. Once she came to, Carrie griped that Lucas seeing the dress meant bad luck. Lucas pulled Sami aside and they had another argument. He accused her of having a thing for EJ and charged that she was rushing his brother into marriage. Meanwhile, Carrie told Austin she'd remembered how her sister had once stolen her wedding dress in order to marry him. Austin consoled Carrie, and asked her to see a doctor about the fainting. Carrie insisted she's fine, but he remained uneasy and said she sounded unhappy. She denied it in an unconvincing manner.

A glum Chelsea visited Kate's office. Her grandma said she'd done everything possible to help the girl at trial, and presented her with a file containing a pro-Chelsea interview. Kate stressed her belief that Chelsea could never hurt anyone. Chelsea squirmed as she flashed back to tampering with Bo's loving e-mail to Hope to in order to misconstrue his message. She confessed her manipulation to Kate. "I'm a bitch," whined the teen. Kate offered support and voiced her hope that Bo and Billie would reconcile. After complaining about Billie's attempt to help save Bo and Hope's marriage. Kate sighed about how "noble" her kids were. She then moved on to her beef with Sami and said she planned to drive a permanent wedge between Austin and her foe.

At home, Hope gazed at a photo of herself with Zack and thought about the harsh e-mail from "Bo". Clueless to his daughter's high-tech sabotage, an optimistic Bo phoned his wife and was dismayed when Hope ordered him not to play games with her — or call again. Jennifer dropped by and comforted her friend with tea and sympathy, while at Bo's office, Billie lent an ear. He grumbled about Hope's hostile reaction to his e-mailed attempt to reunite.... When Hope looked at the newspaper, she was appalled by the front-page story with Kate insisting that her granddaughter is not a criminal. In the meantime, Billie urged Bo to realize that Chelsea was stirring up trouble in his marriage. She's not the only one to blame, he responded. After she privately recalled framing him for adultery, Billie acknowledged that Chelsea's not the only problem — she is. However, she didn't reveal her secret.

Kate drove her granddaughter to the police station and instructed her to "keep a brave face." After Chelsea left, corrupt cop Eve approached Kate, and asked if she'd save Chelsea by coughing up cash. Miss Roberts encouraged the cop to keep talking.... Chelsea joined her parents at the stationhouse and they shared an embrace. Meanwhile, Hope vowed to Jennifer that Chelsea was going down.

While reading a story to Claire, Belle reminisced about dancing with Shawn. To escape the heat, she headed to the window, where she overheard Shawn and Mimi making plans for the future, and Mimi admit that she used to want everything Belle had — including Shawn. Later Belle confided to her daughter that she sometimes wishes Shawn were her father.

On the roof, Sami was finding it hard to resist EJ's advances, while Kate looked on rather pleased with the chemistry between the two. Sami tried to convince EJ to be a spokesperson for ARC. While Sami worked on EJ, Kate seized the opportunity to go make the suggestion to Austin that EJ should come onboard at Titan. Austin agreed and when the subject turned to Sami, he assured his mother that his fiancée had changed for the better. Kate agreed to give her a chance, but secretly hoped that EJ would be just what she needed to get rid of Sami once and for all. Sami didn’t want to share EJ with Titan, but Austin convinced her that it was the best way to go, much to Kate’s delight.

On the Fancy Face, Bo wrote an e-mail to his estranged wife professing his love. Hope arrived at the dock to meet Jennifer, where she confided that she believed seeing Zack was a sign that she needed to be with Bo. An eavesdropping Chelsea made it appear to Hope that Bo was playing her. "I want to know exactly what you're up to!" Hope demanded. While Bo and Hope had it out about the trial, Chelsea used the opportunity to sneak onto the boat and change the e-mail. Bo headed to the station, but not before assuring Hope that the e-mail would make everything clear to her. Hope was furious when she read the altered message, which told her to give up the vendetta against Chelsea, or their marriage would be over.

After Kate's car died in a parking lot, she was approached by EJ, who laid on the charm as he came to her assistance. He couldn't get the car running, but the handsome stranger did get Kate revved up.

Chelsea eavesdropped from outside a window as Bo told Hope he'd never let her go. Hope left the room and had a vision of Zack. Bo came running when she cried out. Hope thought the apparition meant that Zack somehow needs her help. She mused that maybe Zack will be able to rest in peace after justice is served at Chelsea's trial.

An agitated Sami told Austin she's upset that he lost Shawn's account because of her. Austin shrugged it off, but Ms. Brady had an idea and led him out of the apartment. In the hall, they ran into EJ and Sami revealed her concept: EJ and Austin should work together to endorse Shawn's engine invention. EJ declined and mentioned he wanted to go up to the roof to exercise. A short time later, Kate dropped by Austin and Sami's apartment and made it clear she didn't want to see Miss Reed. Sami left and went up to the roof where a shirtless EJ was working out. Kate saw her rival heading to the roof and followed her. She spied as Sami and EJ chatted in a flirty manner.

John comforted Marlena as she tried to grapple with all that had happened to her and between them with Alex and Roman. "How can you be so forgiving?" she asked. "Because I love you," John responded. They were interrupted by a call from Bo, who summoned Marlena, regarding Hope. Back at the Brady house, a still lurking Chelsea was alarmed to hear her dad say he'll support Hope — and not Chelsea — at the trial. Bo wept about his parenting failures and the collapse of his marriage to Hope. Marlena arrived and Bo left so the ladies could talk in private. Hope said that she failed to protect her son and allowed it to destroy her marriage. When she spoke of seeking vengeance against Chelsea, Marlena asked what was more important: punishing Chelsea or saving her marriage. Marlena suggested that Hope is still angry with her husband. When Hope said that Bo lied to her and betrayed her by sleeping with Billie, Marlena privately thought of how she did the same to John by sleeping with Roman. Marlena went home and told John she loves him. In the meantime, Hope realized that she wanted to save her marriage and went running out the house in slo-mo.
