DAYS Recaps Week of September 5, 2006Friday, September 8, 2006 Max defended Chelsea to Philip, claiming she hadn't doctored the paternity report. Bo accused Chelsea of forging the report and wondered why she would do that to Shawn. Bo threatened to lock her up and throw away the key. Frankie interrupted, and demanded time to speak with his client privately. Frankie asked if Chelsea altered the paternity report. She confessed to putting it in Shawn's room, but claimed that the rest was a misunderstanding. Bo warned Max, "You trust [Chelsea], you get kicked in the teeth," but Max defended her again. Shawn arrived, demanding answers. He and Philip hoped to see her punished for her crimes. When Shawn bellowed to Chelsea that he wanted to see her go away for a long time, Max punched Shawn. Chelsea claimed that she didn't falsify the records or switch the DNA. But when Bo revealed that Chelsea's prints were the only ones on the document, Max doubted Chelsea's version of events. Chelsea explained that she only gave Shawn the test results because she knew he still loved Belle. Max dumped Chelsea.
Jack and Jennifer investigated Officer Michaels' murder at The Spectator. Jennifer wanted to go to the police, but Jack found the potential of a Pulitzer more appealing. They tried to match a gun book photo to a photo of the suspected murder weapon. Jack and Jennifer bickered when he believed he found the match in a book. Jack admitted that while she was talented, he only hired her at the newspaper initially because he was in love with her. They argued about who was more stubborn and Jack was forced to admit the gun he found wasn't a match. Jack took Jennifer to a shady pawn shop contact to find out who owned the gun. Following a His Girl Friday fantasy, Jack paid off the proprietor, who handed over a list of potential gun owners. Jennifer scanned the list and recognized a familiar name. "That's got to be our killer!" Jack exclaimed, stating the killer's identity would stun Salem.
Thursday, September 7, 2006 At the Salem PD, Bo and Abe discussed Will's disappearance. Abe couldn't believe that Sami destroyed the threatening notes she'd been receiving. Bo noted that Sami thought the notes were from Lexie, but doubted she was capable of kidnapping. Abe explained that he would be spending the afternoon secretly investigating his estranged wife/suspect. Bo wondered if Eve's murder and Will's disappearance were connected. Abe noted Lexie as the only potential connection. Lexie walked in as Bo hid the suspect board with her name on it. Bo excused himself, and Abe started lulling Lexie into his web, telling her that he was having second thoughts about their divorce and missed her and Theo. Lexie totally bought it. Soon, a cop came in and announced that they made a positive ID on the prints found on the file left in Shawn's hospital room. Abe read the report and told Lexie that Chelsea was a suspect and could be in big trouble. Lexie explained Philip's theory that the person who left the folder also switched Belle and Mimi's embryos. Chez Rouge was the setting for the Salem Grand Prix Press Conference. Max, Abby and Chelsea were chatting when Philip arrived, and the conversation turned toward the missing Will. Max went to get ready and ran into Stephanie, literally! They sparred back and forth about their upcoming race. Kate, EJ and Maggie discussed Will, too. Abby told Chelsea that she heard about Shawn finding the file that named him as Claire's real father and wondered if that was the "secret paternity thing" Chelsea had been talking about. Chelsea admitted it was and that revealing the truth was the right thing to do. But now Philip and Shawn believed that whoever planted Claire's file was also responsible for the scrambled egg mess. Soon, Max and Stephanie were both dressed in their racing uniforms. Frankie and Bo arrived, and the press conference began. EJ talked about his and Kate's new company; then, introduced Stephanie, who said a few words. Philip introduced Max, who spoke next. Max and Stephanie told the assembled press that they were going to beat each other. One reporter, who sensed an attraction between the pair, asked if Max and Stephanie were "racing together off the track." Max said he and Stephanie were friends and introduced Chelsea as his girlfriend and good luck charm. Suddenly, Bo announced that the press conference was over, because was about to take Chelsea into custody. Her fingerprints were all over the file found in Shawn's hospital room. Bo dragged Chelsea off and berated her, ignoring her attempt to explain, as a reporter asked Max, "What kind of a good luck charm is your girlfriend now?"
Wednesday, September 6, 2006 At the Salem PD, Patrick told Tek about the footprints found at the scene of Eve's murder, when Hope arrived looking for Bo. Patrick said that Bo went to the pub to meet some friends. Hope was perturbed, knowing that Bo would never flake on their ultrasound appointment if the child she was carrying was his. Patrick volunteered to accompany Hope and she accepted. At the hospital, Hope talked about the pain of losing Zack and how she thought she and Bo would get through it together. Bo arrived, just as a nurse announced that the doctor was ready to see Mr. and Mr. Lockhart. Bo turned and left, as Hope called after him. Dr. Bader proceeded with the ultrasound and asked Patrick and Hope if they wanted to know their baby's gender. Hope said that she wanted to be surprised. Roman brought Kate to the station and told Tek to find someone to take her down to booking; then, he put the disc he retrieved from Eve's apartment into his computer. Turned out it was a video of a chimp paddling a kayak. A smug Kate realized she was off the hook and free to go. Roman, however, warned Kate to watch her back, since there was a murderer running around town who knew her role in this drama. Kate turned to leave; then, had a change of heart and demanded that Roman arrest her, now. Austin and Carrie cuddled on the roof. Austin suggested that they tell Lucas and Sami about their reconciliation, ASAP. Carrie wanted to wait, but Austin insisted that the sooner the truth was out, the better. Downstairs, Sami gave EJ a list of people to call regarding the missing Will, when Lucas knocked on the door toting a bottle of champagne. As EJ exited, Lucas asked Sami if she and Austin were going to get married. Sami said no and tried to get Lucas to leave. Lucas, however, sensed that something was wrong and Sami told him about the phone call warning her that Will was missing. Austin and Carrie arrived and the foursome discussed the situation. Austin downplayed things, suggesting that Will probably cut class. Then, he told Carrie that they should put off telling Lucas and Sami about their reconciliation. EJ returned and informed Sami that he hadn't gotten any information from Will's friends. Sami finally 'fessed up about the threatening notes she'd been receiving for months. Lucas insisted that she call the police — namely, her dad, Roman. Later, Sami explained to Roman about the notes she'd been getting. Roman asked to see them, but Sami said she'd gotten rid of them. Roman scolded Sami for tossing away evidence, as Sami cried.
Tuesday, September 5, 2006 Austin told Carrie that he wasn't going to deny his love for her any longer. He filled Carrie in on the reason Sami wouldn't go through with their wedding: Sami knew Austin loved Carrie. Carrie admitted that she was sorry to be the reason Sami stopped the wedding. "I'm not sorry," maintained Austin, noting that he would never have loved Sami the way a husband should love his wife. Austin and Carrie discussed their past and breaking each other's hearts. Austin pointed out that they STILL loved one another and asked Carrie point blank, "Do you love me? Do you want to spend the rest of your life with me or not?" Carrie admitted that she did and ran into Austin's arms. They kissed, and Austin assured Carrie that Lucas would get over her. Carrie mentioned that she couldn't have children, and Austin said they'd deal with it. The pair kissed, as Austin professed that they were back where they belonged — together. Sami was adamant about NOT giving up full custody of Will to Lucas, no matter what her blackmailer wanted. EJ insisted they call the police, but Sami would have none of it. Marlena arrived and was surprised to see Sami with EJ. Sami explained that EJ was offering her a shoulder to cry on and recounted how she'd told Austin that he belonged with Carrie. Marlena was proud of Sami, but urged her not to rush into a new relationship. Then, she told Sami about the women's empowerment group she was spearheading at the hospital and the job offer she received to start a similar program in New Jersey. Marlena said that she was leaving town, tomorrow, to begin work. The shot changed to a NJ office, where someone on a cell phone chatted with The Gloved Hand and said that Dr. Evans would be arriving on schedule. Back in Salem, Sami lamented her mom leaving town, but said she was excited for her. Mom and daughter hugged, and EJ promised to take care of Sami while Marlena was away. On her way out, Marlena thought she saw someone outside Sami's door. After she left, EJ checked things out and Sami followed. Sami's phone rang, and she answered it. To her horror it was the mechanical voice saying, "Do you know where your son is?" Sami phoned Will's school. To her horror she learned that her son never showed up for home room.
