Mimi tried to convince Max to give Shawn his job back. Max said he couldn't deal with Shawn's "anger management" issues. Still, Mimi wouldn't stop pleading Shawn's case. Meanwhile, Patrick was surprised when Shawn turned up at his door with an envelope. Patrick opened it and learned that Shawn was working as a courier between him and EJ. Patrick handed Shawn a wad of bills, and he turned to leave. As fate would have it, Mimi arrived and questioned Shawn about the cash. Shawn said Patrick owed him for a job. Mimi asked Patrick where he got all that money. Good stock investments, claimed Patrick.

Belle told Marlena about John's suggestion that she draw up a list of conditions for Shawn to be a part of Claire's life. But she thought about it and realized she didn't meet the conditions herself. She didn't have a job and was living with her parents. The doorbell rang and it was Lucas, delivering an envelope that Victor had given him from Philip earlier. Belle opened it and found signed divorce papers and a $100,000 check. After Belle and Lucas commiserated about their failed marriages, Lucas left and Belle filled Marlena in on the divorce papers and the settlement check, certain it came from Victor.

John sat in the surveillance truck stunned, watching Kate and EJ roll around on the couch. Meanwhile, Bo was at the pub with Hope, discussing Steve and Kayla. Hope said that she'd urged Steve to talk to Kayla and give her a reason to fight. Then, she filled Bo in on Steve's feelings for Billie. John phoned Bo, said there was a development in their case, and summoned him to the truck. Bo took off, while Hope headed to the hospital to give Steve the necklace she bought for Billie. Bo joined John and they watched the latest development: Sami barging into EJ's apartment, forcing Kate to retreat to the bedroom, and demanding to know what the police had on him. Her Uncle Bo had been asking her questions about him. EJ tried to get Sami to leave, but she spotted a bra on his couch and asked who was in the bedroom. EJ wouldn't answer and escorted Sami to the door, but not before she swiped the bra. Alone, Sami noticed the bra was monogrammed with Kate's initials. Later, Sami ran into Lucas, who asked if she and EJ had reconciled. Sami told Lucas that EJ was sleeping with someone else: his mother. Meanwhile, Kate left EJ's, telling him the mood was broken. John grabbed Kate and pulled her into the surveillance truck, where she learned exactly what was going on. John recommended that Kate keep her distance from EJ. Kate left and phoned EJ, telling him that they had to talk. John was asking questions about him.

At the hospital, Stephanie apologized to Steve for losing it earlier. She was scared that Kayla was going to die. Stephanie begged Steve to talk to Kayla and give her a reason to live. Hope arrived and Steve asked her for a favor. Could she come up with a list of things she knew about him and Kayla? Hope said that she and Bo would work on the list together. With any luck it might help Steve really remember his past. Later, Hope met Bo at the pub and told him about Steve's request. Hope took out a notepad and asked Bo if he was ready to go down memory lane. The pair recounted Steve and Kayla's past and, in turn, their own. (Cue the flashbacks!) Bo smiled at Hope, sweetly, and told her how much he missed her.

Back at the hospital, Stephanie returned to Steve and Kayla's room. Steve promised his daughter that he'd do everything in his power to help Kayla. Shawn arrived and ran into Max, who offered him his old job back. Shawn explained that he had a new job, working for EJ, and flashed a wad of cash at Max. Shawn turned to leave and walked right into Victor, who offered to help him financially. Shawn told Victor that he was no longer his grandfather and wanted nothing to do with him. Meanwhile, Max returned to the garage and told Mimi about his run in with her ex. Shawn was carrying a lot of cash, and Max wondered if he was running drugs.

John and Marlena arrived at the pub, where John asked Kate if he could rent one of Mythic Communications' satellite trucks for some surveillance work. John wouldn't give any details to Kate or Marlena, just that he was looking into something for the police. Kate gave John a number to call to arrange things in return for exclusive rights to the story. When Kate left, John attempted to explain to Marlena, but she just asked him to be careful. She needed him. So did Belle and Claire. John vowed to always be there for all of them.

Shawn met EJ at Chez Rouge ready to ask for a mechanic's job. EJ said he had a different gig for Shawn, one that required complete discretion. EJ explained that he was working on a top-secret business deal and that Shawn would be delivering documents between him and another party. Shawn asked who the other party was, and EJ said Patrick. Shawn didn't have a problem with that. EJ handed Shawn his first envelope and a hefty payment; then, Shawn went off to make the delivery.

At the hospital, the doctor told the Bradys that Kayla had an allergic reaction to the antidote and her condition might deteriorate unless they found another treatment. After everyone left, Bo and Hope discussed Steve and how he could make a difference in Kayla's recovery. Hope asked Bo talk to Steve, but Bo suggested that she might have better luck. Hope called Steve over, and he said that he wished he could do something to help Kayla. He explained how Stephanie wanted him to fall back in love with Kayla and that he would if he could. Steve asked Hope to do him a favor: Go out and buy a gift for Billie from him. Hope agreed and left. Soon, doctors and nurses raced into the room to check on Kayla, as Steve begged her to hang on.

Shawn met up with Bo and Hope and asked about Steve and Kayla. Bo wondered if he'd talked to Max yet, and Shawn said he wasn't going back to work at the garage. He found a job working for EJ Wells. After Hope left, Bo told Shawn that he'd be better off working for Max. Shawn wouldn't listen, so Bo noted that EJ was under police investigation. Shawn wasn't fazed, vowing to work for EJ until there was proof he'd done something wrong.

Billie took Shawn and Caroline back to the pub, where she ran into Marlena and 'fessed up about her and Steve being interested in each other. Billie said that she'd already hurt Hope and didn't want to hurt Kayla, too. Marlena consoled Billie, noting that none of this was her fault. Besides, Steve and Kayla had been apart for years. Marlena noted that the chances of Steve remembering his past with Kayla were slim. Hence, Billie shouldn't feel guilty about her feelings.

Later, Stephanie had Frankie take her back to her parents' room. When Steve came over to talk to Stephanie, she lashed out at him. Stephanie blamed Steve for Kayla's condition. Kayla had never stopped loving Steve and was thrilled to find out he was alive. Now, Kayla was dying, and he didn't even care. Steve swore he DID care. Stephanie implored her father to talk to Kayla and give her a reason to live. If anyone could get through to her, it was him.

Kate arrived at EJ's, where he explained that the Salem PD had been asking questions about him. He asked Kate to help find out why the police are so suspicious of him and suggested she use her friendship with Roman to do so. Kate wasn't too keen on the idea, but EJ managed to convince her. Kate said she'd see what she could find out; then, seductively whispered that she wanted something in return — HIM! The pair started to roll around on the couch and kiss, unaware that a shocked John was watching all of it via the surveillance equipment he'd rented from Kate.

Shawn told Willow that Bo offered to call Max and try to get his old job back. Willow suggested that Shawn help things along by apologizing to Max. At the garage, Frankie told Max about Steve and Kayla's situation and that he planned to move back to Washington once they recovered. Mimi arrived, and Max explained that he'd been working on her car. After Frankie left, Mimi admitted that she couldn't pay Max. The tips at Chez Rouge weren't great, and she needed another job. Max offered her one at the garage, and Mimi accepted. Frankie asked Abby why Max was so chummy with Mimi, considering what she'd done to Shawn. Abby said Max was a great guy. Frankie asked if Abby had a crush on Max. Abby insisted they were just friends. Then, she handed Mimi the shop's books and wished her luck. Soon, Willow and Shawn arrived. Abby explained that Max had gone to the hospital, when Mimi popped in with a question for Abby. Upon learning that Mimi was working there, Shawn left in a huff.

Kate stopped by the hospital to visit Stephanie. Kate told Stephanie that she wasn't to blame for the car wreck. It was the fault of the person who was targeting her family. Kate suggested that Stephanie stay out of the public eye for a bit and presented her with papers that released her from her contract with Mythic. Chelsea interrupted and asked if Kate's company was dumping Stephanie for PR reasons. Kate was annoyed. Stephanie signed the papers, and Kate and Chelsea left. Chelsea rambled on about Stephanie and wanting Bo and Billie back together. Kate cut her off, noting that even she had resigned herself to accepting that wouldn't be happening. Chelsea was dismayed. She HAD to get her parents to love each other or no one would ever love her.

Hope and Billie arrived as the Brady family stood outside Steve and Kayla's room waiting for their reaction to the antidote. Suddenly, Steve woke up. The doctor checked on him, while Bo explained what happened via an intercom. When the doctor came out to talk to the family, Billie stayed behind reassuring Steve that Stephanie was fine, while Steve told Billie how much she meant to him. Billie admitted her feelings for Steve, too. Meanwhile, the doctor told the Bradys that he wanted to increase Kayla's dosage of the antidote, but warned that it would also increase the risk. Frankie and Hope went to update Stephanie on her parents' condition, while Bo stayed behind to talk to Max about rehiring Shawn. Max said he'd hired Mimi and that Shawn would have to find a way to get along with her, if he wanted his job back. Later, back at the garage, Max told Abby and Mimi about his talk with Bo. They, in turn, told Max about Shawn's visit. Mimi offered to step aside so Max could rehire Shawn, but Max wouldn't hear of it. Meanwhile, Shawn and Willow arrived at Chez Rouge, where Shawn went off about Max hiring Mimi. He was sure Max would never fire her or hire him. Willow suggested that Shawn ask EJ for a job, so he phoned him.

EJ and Patrick met in the alley. EJ warned Patrick that the police were on to them — namely, Bo — and that they needed to remain calm. From now on, they'd communicate through notes and a courier. Then, EJ gave Patrick his next assignment: keeping tabs on Bo via his daughter, Chelsea. Later, Patrick returned home to find Chelsea. He brought up Bo trying to frame him for murder to make him look bad in Hope's eyes and his and Chelsea's similar desire to keep Bo and Hope apart. Patrick suggested that Chelsea spend more time with Bo. "Are you saying that you want me to spy on my own father?" asked Chelsea, insisting that she couldn't, but would work on their common cause in her own way.

The doctor increased Kayla's dosage of the antidote while everyone waited anxiously. Stephanie arrived and asked if there had been a change in her mom's condition. When she saw her dad up and about through the window, Stephanie rushed over to him. Steve promised that he and Kayla would both pull through this. Then, suddenly, Kayla had a seizure and the doctor yelled, "Code blue!" as Stephanie sobbed.

Belle popped in at the YWCA to visit Willow, who denied that Shawn was staying with her. When Belle spotted Shawn's boxers on the bed, Willow claimed they were hers. Too bad Shawn popped out of the bathroom clad in a towel. Belle told him that she decided he and Claire deserved to be in each other's lives. Then, she recited her conditions: Shawn needed to act responsibly by getting a job and a decent place to live. After Belle left, Shawn began perusing apartment and job ads. Willow couldn't believe how easily Shawn was giving up his rebel act. Shawn noted that it was for Claire. Willow wondered if it wasn't for Belle, too. After Shawn left, Belle returned. She warned Willow to stay away from Shawn so he could be with his daughter. Willow, however, saw right through her. It was obvious Belle wanted Shawn for herself.

Mimi packed her belongings from the loft. Bonnie urged Mimi not to give up on her marriage, handing her pictures of Shawn and Mimi and Caroline and Grandpa Shawn. Mimi wondered how Shawn's grandparents had stayed together for so many years. Later, Mimi arrived at the pub and asked Caroline the secret to her long marriage. Caroline cited honesty. Mimi explained how she had to lie as a kid to keep her family together. Caroline understood, but pointed out that Mimi didn't HAVE to lie now. Caroline encouraged Mimi to tell the absolute truth for one week; then, report back to her.

At the hospital, Bo phoned Billie and updated her about Steve and Kayla. Bo suggested that Billie stop by, but Billie said it would make Stephanie, Hope, and Bo's parents uncomfortable. Chelsea, of course, encouraged Billie to go to be there for Bo. Billie ranted at Chelsea, insisting she stop trying to reunite her and Bo. Chelsea whined that she deserved a family. Billie explained that Bo's sister and best friend were in the hospital and near death. If Chelsea really wanted to be close to her father, she should go there and offer her support.

Hope joined Bo outside Steve and Kayla's room, as Bo vowed to bury the bastard who put them in this state. Hope explained that Abe verified Patrick's alibi and that she was it. Bo noted that Patrick had an accomplice and that he had a lead on him. Chelsea interrupted, and Hope left. Chelsea said that just she wanted to be there for her dad. Bo explained how much Steve and Kayla meant to him and how hard it was to lose people you loved. Chelsea understood, having lost her "parents." Chelsea said she'd been praying for Steve and Kayla. Touched, Bo hugged her. Shawn arrived needing to talk to Bo. Father and son left, and Shawn told Bo about Belle's ultimatum. Shawn whined about the prices of apartments, how hard it was to find a job, his failed marriage to Mimi, and his situation with Belle and Claire. Bo told Shawn that a relationship wasn't over just because of a bump in the road. He mentioned how Shawn had called it quits with Belle a few years ago and now was doing the same thing with Mimi. Bo told Shawn to take responsibility for his life and be an adult. Love wasn't perfect and needed work. Shawn thanked Bo for his advice and promised not to let his dad or Claire down.

Hope stopped by Billie's and told her that she should be at the hospital, insisting that it wouldn't bother her. It was what Steve needed. Soon Bo called Billie and said that the antidote had arrived and the doctor was about to give it to Steve and Kayla. Billie told Hope, and the two women headed to the hospital together. Meanwhile, Bo watched as Steve and Kayla's IVs were injected with the antidote.

Belle was trying to comfort a crying Claire when Shawn arrived to see the baby. Belle slammed the door in his face. Shawn wouldn't leave, and claimed he wouldn't let Belle keep him from his daughter. Shawn wanted to help put Claire to sleep, but Belle refused. Shawn explained that he only walked away from Belle because he believed that she wanted to be with Philip. Belle blasted that she didn't want Shawn near her daughter. Shawn claimed that he would get a lawyer if necessary and if Belle didn't relent, he would sue for full custody. Shawn stormed off and when John arrived home, Belle recounted the confrontation with Shawn to her father. John argued that Claire needed her father, and Belle agreed to give Shawn one last shot. Meanwhile, happy hooker Willow offered to let Shawn stay with her.

Roman and Frankie fretted over their unsuccessful search for an antidote as John and Bo wondered if EJ and Patrick were in cahoots — and if, by extension, Sami was involved in Kayla and Steve's poisoning. Roman offered to pump Sami for information, but Bo urged him to let him and John take care of it. Meanwhile, Lexie worried about how she would be received by the Bradys after what she had done to Carrie. Indeed, when Abe and Lexie walked in, Roman tried to give them the boot, but when Abe mentioned that Lexie knew of a possible antidote for Steve and Kayla, Caroline and Frankie wanted to hear what Lexie had to say. Caroline reminded that her family had forgiven her wrong-doings and assured that Lexie was always welcome at her establishment. Roman agreed. John sent Bo to Sami's alone, explaining that Sami would likely clam up in front of her stepfather. The research Lexie remembered proved promising and the Bradys happily thanked Lexie. Abe told Lexie that he was proud of her, and she thanked her husband for his support. The Bradys told Steve and Kayla's doctor that they wanted him to administer the experimental drug, despite the potential risks.

Sami told EJ he couldn't ask her to choose between him and her son and Lucas. EJ argued that Lucas and Will caused her nothing but grief. If she chose Will and Lucas, EJ couldn't be there for her anymore. Sami claimed that her son was the most important thing to her. Sami kicked EJ out and Lucas spat that EJ wasn't good for Sami if he made her choose between him and her son. They argued. Lucas wanted to declare a truce. "Let's be friends for our son's sake." Sami promised she would try, but Will wasn't ready to move back in with Sami. He would stay with Lucas at Kate's house for the time being. "We'll see how it goes," he shrugged. Sami realized that Lucas and Will were testing her...just as Bo arrived to question her about a "police matter." Lucas and EJ left and Bo questioned Sami about EJ. Meanwhile, EJ showed up at Kate's house and announced, "I'm resigning my post." He was done trying to seduce Sami. Kate offered to give EJ something to help him wait for Sami longer. She kissed him and they began tugging at each other's clothes when Lucas and Will arrived home. EJ hid and Kate let the boys in. She told them that there was no point in them going to Sami's ever again.
