Shawn came back from checking out the cruise ship and went on about it having a fitness center, hot tubs and a kiddie pool. Belle said that none of them were leaving the cabin until the ship docked in Australia. It wasn't safe with Victor after them. Shawn assured Belle that he'd protect their family. Belle finally agreed to let Shawn take Claire out, if he followed some rules. Namely, they had to go by the names on their faux passports and remember that they were from Nova Scotia. Soon, Claire woke up, and Belle realized she was burning up with fever. Belle insisted on calling the ship doctor, who examined Claire and noting that she just had a case a seasickness. The doctor instructed Belle to feed Claire liquids for the next 24 hours and to call him if her fever spiked. The doctor turned to leave; then, asked for the baby’s passport for his records. Shawn gave it to him, and the doctor noted a problem: there was no immunization stamp.

Sami reveled in masterminding her get-even-with Kate peep show. Kate went after Sami, who gloated, "Now you know what it feels like to be publicly humiliated!" Kate reminded Sami that EJ was on the video, too, and wouldn't be happy. Billie scolded EJ for sleeping with her mom. She thought he was interested in Sami. EJ said he was, until she reconciled with Lucas. Billie took off to find Sami and scolded her for her actions. Sami explained why she'd acted out: Kate had set her up with a fake reality TV show. In the interim, EJ consoled Kate, who worried about becoming the laughing stock of Wall Street. EJ assured she wouldn't be, then addressed the reporters. "How many of you thought that was me up there on the screen? How many of you thought it was my colleague Kate Roberts?" he asked. After a show of hands, EJ explained it was all courtesy of groundbreaking new CGI Technology that would bring real-time, real-life animation to the business community.

Meanwhile, Sami warned Billie about EJ again. And Billie accused Sami of having "the hots" for EJ again. Sami insisted she loved Lucas. Then she became ill and headed to the bathroom. EJ came out and told Billie that he hoped his liaison with Kate wouldn't deter her from doing business with him. "Just as long as we get one thing clear first. I will not be joining my mother on your trophy wall," asserted Billie. EJ rejoined Kate, and Sami returned looking sickly. Billie realized she was pregnant. Sami admitted it was true and that only Kate and her dad knew. Billie found it odd that Sami wasn't rubbing Kate's face in the news...unless Lucas wasn't the daddy. Sami insisted she'd never been unfaithful, and Billie apologized. EJ and Kate emerged, and Kate noted that everything had been fixed, so Lucas still had a job. Sami left, as EJ remarked how terrible she looked. Alone with Billie, Kate warned her not to get involved with EJ. Billie thanked Kate for the maternal concern, but said she didn't take orders from her.

Steve complained to Kayla about his new home at the hospital psych ward. Kayla assured him that he could handle it. Steve was the strongest person she knew. Dr. Beal arrived, and Steve's hypnosis session got under way. The doctor began making a tapping sound and asked Steve to think back to the first time he'd heard it. Steve recalled being strapped down and receiving electric shock treatments. He remembered EJ standing over him with the Devil Tarot card murmuring, "You're one of us now." Dr. Beal ended the session, and Steve woke up. The doctor played back the tape, but Steve insisted he didn't recall anything. When Steve headed to the bathroom, Kayla and Dr. Beal agreed that Steve had suppressed memories of being tortured. When Steve returned, he wanted to leave. Kayla and Dr. Beal reminded him that he had to stay or his bail would be revoked. Kayla bid Steve goodbye and left. Alone, Steve went to work loosening the screws holding the bars on his window. Upon removing them, he opened the window and slipped out.

Marlena laid beside John, whispering that she knew he was fighting to come back to her and wouldn't leave until they found a way to connect. Then she drifted off and returned to her dream, where John told her to open a door and take his hand. Marlena followed his instructions and stepped into a garden. John professed his love, and he and Marlena kissed. Then he told her what EJ said before he shot him: Steve was in trouble. Marlena remembered John seeing Steve in the hospital and saying, "Killer." John explained that Steve was brainwashed by the DiMeras and programmed to do things he had no control over. Suddenly, Marlena stopped hearing John's words because the doctor woke her up. She explained that John was telling her something important. Marlena wondered why the doctor had awakened her. He explained that Kayla had phoned. Steve signed himself into the psych ward, and Kayla wanted Marlena to keep an eye on him. Marlena agreed to check on Steve. After the doctor left, Marlena implored John to finish what he was telling her about Steve. Then, she laid her head down on John's chest.

Lucas confronted Kate about setting up Sami and trying to hurt her. Kate insisted that Sami was lying about what happened in the cabin and would only hurt Lucas again. Sami's rescue story was physically impossible, and she had to have had help. When Lucas challenged Kate to prove it, she cited the expert that reviewed the footage from the show. Still, Lucas wasn't swayed. He told Kate that he'd heard enough and warned her not to make him choose between her and Sami or she would lose.

Sami ran into Billie and EJ, who was helping her move boxes, in the hall. When EJ left to take a phone call, Sami asked Billie what she was doing with the dangerous DiMera and went on about EJ shooting John. She warned Billie to be careful. Billie wondered if Sami still had a little itch for EJ. Sami denied it, just as EJ returned. "Don't say I didn't warn you," cracked Sami as she turned to leave. EJ got the gist of their conversation and asked if Billie thought he was the monster Sami made him out to be. Billie said the jury was still out, but she'd be proceeding with caution. Lucas arrived and was clearly appalled by the sight of his sister with EJ. He asked EJ to give him a minute alone with Billie before they went to the presentation. EJ left, and Billie explained that she'd made a business proposal to EJ. Lucas told Billie to forget it. EJ shot John and was totally snowing Billie. Billie insisted that they were only talking business. If EJ was willing to help her, Billie was going to let him.

Kate welcomed everyone to the presentation at Mythic, and the reporters began questioning her about EJ. Kate noted that he'd been cleared of all charges and that their company was back and better than ever. When Kate went to talk to some reporters privately, Sami got rid of the guy in charge of running the film. Then, she switched the DVD in the machine with the one she'd swiped from Roman's office. As Sami made her getaway she bumped into EJ, who said he was on to her. Billie arrived as Kate returned to the podium. When the reporters spotted EJ, they started firing questions at him. Kate came to EJ's defense, saying that he'd been cleared of all charges and that she was proud to be in partnership with him. They both shared the same strict moral code regarding business. Then, Kate started the film and gasped as everyone stared at the screen in shock at the sight of Kate and EJ kissing and ripping each other's clothes off. Sami strolled in going on about Mythic's strict moral guidelines and asking Kate, "What do morals mean to a whore?"

Billie was surprised to see EJ in the hallway of their apartment building. EJ explained that the charges against him had been dropped. Billie hadn't been reading newspapers lately. She was too busy moving. EJ mentioned that he and Kate were back in business together, and Billie said she'd heard. Her mom invited her to their presentation that night. EJ sensed Billie's anxiousness and realized she was worried that Lucas might catch them talking. EJ assured her that he and Lucas had settled things. In fact, Lucas was working with him and Kate, and Sami encouraged him to take the job. EJ flirted with Billie and helped carry her boxes. Billie noted that poor Sami and Lucas had no idea how many things she'd be storing at their place. EJ offered up his apartment as her storage unit, but Billie said no. She'd been relying on others too much. Then, Billie went on about being somebody, way back when. She and Kate had had their own cosmetic company. When that didn't work out, "everything snowballed to hell." Billie was determined to change that. She was thinking about starting a home security business. EJ suggested Mythic become involved. Billie accepted EJ's offer to discuss it at his place.

Steve returned to his cell after his arraignment. Kayla said she planned on holding him to his promise to check himself into the psych unit at the hospital. Soon, a doctor arrived and handed Steve papers to fill out. Steve read them and said this wasn't going to work for him. The doctor told Steve that he was granted bail contingent on his submitting to a psychiatric evaluation. Then he left so Steve and Kayla could talk. Kayla pointed out how Steve had stuck by her side when she was quarantined to help her get well and helped Shawn, Belle and Claire get out of the country. Now it was time for him to help himself. Kayla assured Steve that he'd have complete security at the hospital. Steve noted that if he stayed in jail, he definitely wouldn't hurt anyone. Kayla realized Steve was afraid of hurting her and implored him to get help to try and stop these episodes. Finally, Kayla pulled out her trump card: if Steve loved her, he'd do this. Steve relented and signed the papers, as he and Kayla kissed through the bars.

Sami arrived at Roman's office. He questioned her about the night she saved Lucas, certain there was more to the story. Sami recounted her version of the "whole story," noting how she lifted the beam off Lucas and dragged him to the road, where a trucker found them. Roman explained how Kate's expert said it simply wasn't possible and suggested that EJ might have helped Sami. Sami adamantly denied it, noting how hurt she was by her father's accusations. Roman agreed to stop the interrogation, and an upset Sami asked for a glass of water. While Roman fetched it, Sami rifled through Roman's file cabinet searching for something on Kate. She found it and slipped it into her purse. Roman returned and Sami asked if they were done talking. Roman said they were. They exchanged "I love you's," and Sami left.

At the hospital, Marlena told an unconscious John that he was leaving the hospital. The doctors convinced her to move him to a long term care facility, but she was never giving up on him. John stepped out of his body to watch and listen to Marlena. John insisted he was fighting with everything he had to reach Marlena and tell her what EJ said to him the night he was shot. He just didn't know how to do it. Marlena said she saw John in her dreams, and he realized THAT was how he could communicate with her. A doctor walked in and informed Marlena that the ambulance had arrived to take John away. As she bent over to kiss him goodbye, John's head moved. Marlena took it as a sign that she hadn't lost him. The doctor insisted it was an involuntary movement, but Marlena wouldn't listen. Then she told him that John was staying put and instructed the doctor to go. Alone with John, Marlena crawled into bed beside him and began dreaming of herself walking when suddenly, she heard a door rattling. "Don't be afraid. Just open the door," implored John.

Willow returned to Philip's hotel and told him she knew where Shawn and Belle were. After Philip tossed her to the curb, she ended up at the safe house where Shawn and Belle were staying and started talking to Merle. He spilled the beans about where Shawn and Belle were headed. Willow was willing to tell Philip for a price. She explained that she needed money for her and Shawn's baby. Philip's ears perked up. He offered to put Willow up and pay for her medical expenses. However, Willow would have to do as he said when her child was born. Philip figured the baby would be a great asset to him. Shawn had his kid. Now, Philip would have Shawn's. Philip said he'd take Willow to the hospital when they got home to make sure she was pregnant and have her take an amnio to make sure the kid was Shawn's. Willow agreed to the terms, then told Philip that Shawn, Belle and Claire were on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.

Sami told Lucas that she couldn't stop thinking about the TV shoot and how she was unable to lift that beam. "It made me look really bad," she sighed. Lucas disagreed. Sami did what she had to do when it counted. Sami decided to phone the show's producer and ask him to edit out the part where she was struggling with the beam. To her surprise, the operator at the cable company never heard of the producer and told Sami that the show she was supposed to be on was canceled. "I was set up again by your mother," Sami told Lucas, who couldn't believe Kate had lied.

At the police station, EJ was recounting Steve's attack on him to an officer when Kate walked in. He assumed Kate was there to see him, but she set him straight. She was there to see Roman. Kate introduced Roman to a physics professor; then, played the footage of Sami trying to lift the beam at the faux TV shoot. The professor announced that a woman Sami's size could never have lifted that beam, even with an adrenaline surge. When the professor left, Roman asked Kate what she was up to. Kate reluctantly admitted how she'd orchestrated the faux TV thing to confirm her suspicion that Sami lied about saving Lucas. Kate believed Sami helped EJ get through the roadblock, and he helped her save Lucas, which meant Sami aided and abetted a felon. Meanwhile, EJ phoned Lucas and requested he call his attorney and for the two of them to meet him at the station. Lucas filled Sami in and told her not to worry about Kate. He'd get to the bottom of things. Later, Roman phoned Sami and ordered her down to the station to tell him more about the night she saved Lucas.

From his jail cell, Steve apologized to Kayla for losing it at Chez Rouge. She told him he needed help and had to check himself into the psychiatric ward. Steve said he'd rather rot in jail. Besides, EJ had it coming. Kayla suggested that the next person might not — and it could be her. Benjy arrived, explaining that he heard what happened and wanted to check on Steve. Steve asked for a moment alone with Benjy and filled him in on his episodes and how he believed they started because of him. An nervous Benjy revealed that he gave Steve the Devil Tarot card on orders from Stefano. Kayla interrupted when Steve got agitated. Benjy signed something to her before leaving. Kayla asked Steve what Benjy meant when he said he was sorry for his part in this and hoped Steve would forgive him someday. Steve explained Stefano sent Benjy to Salem, and he explained about the Devil Tarot card Benjy gave him. Kayla begged Steve to reconsider hypnosis, and he agreed to commit himself. As Benjy was walking out, he ran into EJ, who asked if he'd told Steve anything. Benjy signed that he only told Steve about the Tarot card. EJ warned Benjy that if he betrayed the DiMeras, it would be the last thing he ever did. Then, EJ met with Lucas and his lawyer and explained that he wanted to file charges against Steve AND Kayla. EJ wanted justice and vowed that from now on, anyone who crossed him would get what they deserved.

Kayla joined Steve at Chez Rouge and asked if he'd talked to Benjy. Steve got distracted when EJ walked in. Upon phoning Bo, Steve learned that EJ had been released by the police for insufficient evidence. Steve headed to EJ's table and demanded to know what he made Benjy do to him. His episodes began the night he and Kayla had dinner with Benjy. Of course, EJ pled innocence, while intentionally tapping his knife on the table. EJ accused Steve of being sick. Indeed! Steve started yelling, grabbed the knife, and held it to EJ's throat. Kayla got Steve to calm down and release EJ. "You're going to jail for attempted murder," vowed EJ. Kayla dragged Steve outside, but he broke free and ran back toward the restaurant, crashing right through the window.

Sami and Lucas arrived at the cabin as Kate waited with the "director" and "crew" filming Sami's faux TV tribute. After Sami recounted her story of saving Lucas, Lucas thanked Kate for doing this. Then, he left to take a phone call as Sami was asked to re-enact lifting the beam off the dummy Lucas. Sami couldn't budge it. Suddenly, Lucas returned, saw Sami groaning, and told her to stop or she'd hurt the baby. "Are you pregnant?" gasped Kate, who wondered why they hadn't told her. Sami explained about wanting to wait until she was through her first trimester. Kate congratulated Sami and Lucas and agreed to keep their secret. After Sami and Lucas left, Kate told the "director" that she planned on sticking it to Sami.

Willow stormed into a hotel room and bitched about Philip ordering her to stay put while he went off to find Shawn, Belle and Claire. Meanwhile, Philip barged into the safe house, saw a woman holding a baby, and demanded she hand over Claire. But it was Stacy, who Philip instructed to get out. Stacy left with Claire and gave her to Chelsea, who quickly took off with her. Meanwhile, Belle emerged holding "a baby." Philip grabbed her only to find out it was a doll. Philip was furious and he and Belle argued. Belle accused him of wanting to get even with Shawn. Philip set her straight: he wanted Belle to suffer for the hell she'd put him through. Belle told Philip that he was never going to see Claire again. Philip stormed off, insisting he would find Claire and raise her as his daughter.

Nick couldn't understand why the cops wouldn't release Shawn after he showed up with bail money. The cop explained that Philip told him about Shawn kidnapping Claire. Nick suggested the cop call the Salem police and talk to Roman. He'd clarify things. After he left, Nick revealed that he'd spoken to Mickey and learned that state law didn't consider what Shawn and Belle did to be kidnapping, since they were Claire's parents. The cop returned and told Shawn he was free to go, just as Chelsea arrived with Claire. Shawn thanked Chelsea for her help and, at long last, made peace with his half sister. Shawn noticed that Belle wasn't there, and Chelsea explained how she'd stayed behind to distract Philip. Shawn wanted to go after Belle, but Chelsea assured him that Belle would meet them as soon as she could. Later, Merle arrived and told Shawn that he'd missed the freighter, but he might be able to get Shawn and his family stowed away on a cruise ship. However, it would require fake passports and $3000. Nick said he had an idea and raced off. When he returned, Belle was safely back at Shawn's side. Shawn told Nick that they were going to meet Merle at a diner, as Nick handed Shawn a wad of cash. When Shawn and Belle left, Chelsea noticed Nick wasn't wearing his watch. Nick admitted he'd sold it for the cash he gave Shawn. Suddenly, Shawn returned, handed Chelsea notes to give his parents, and thanked Nick and Chelsea for all their help.

Philip returned to the hotel, found Willow rifling through his things, and ordered her to leave. Later, she turned up at Merle's safe house, looking for a place to stay. Alone, Philip received a call from Pete, the Toronto cop, with news on Shawn. Philip went to the police station and was outraged to learn Shawn had been released.
