Chloe was arranging flowers and fantasized about Daniel. Maggie came in and asked what she was thinking about. She told the truth. "I'm always thinking of him," Chloe confessed. Maggie urged her to talk to her. Chloe said she was still in love with Daniel, but she's more committed to Lucas and Allie than ever before.

Kate arrived at Lucas and Chloe's new house and found a huge food basket that Daniel had sent. Wearing gloves, she took out her poison and a syringe and tainted an apple inside. When Chloe came home, Kate appeared, acting all nice. She took the apple out of the basket — Chloe's favorite — and handed it to her daughter-in-law. Chloe was about to take a bite, then realized she forgot to pick up Allie at the Pub. Kate offered to go with Chloe to see her granddaughter.

Daniel arrived at Kiriakis mansion at Philip's behest. Phil demanded to know why Steph was taking pills. Daniel advised him to ask Steph, noting doctor/patient confidentiality. Steph was at the church, still talking to Father Matt. Philip called and she finally picked up. He was relieved to hear her voice. She returned to the K manse and Philip showed her the pills. She insisted she was done with the pills for good, then told Philip that she had to end things between them. She explained that he had given her everything, but not peace of mind. He implored her to stay in the relationship, noting that they had broken up a few times before. She explained that she was leaving him for good. Philip suggested that she was suffering from post-traumatic stress. She said she was and what happened with Owen opened her eyes to her situation. "I'm still lying to my uncle Bo! And to my cousin, Sami, who needs my help!" she cried. She blamed herself for believing she could deal with his family. She removed her engagement ring and handed it back to him. "No, Stephanie. You cannot do this. I am not letting you go," he told her. She wouldn't change her mind and apologized for leaving him. He was distraught.

Maggie talked to Daniel at the hospital. She gave him words of encouragement to let Chloe go. He told he that he knows she means well, but he's tired of her advice and the empty reassurances. "I will never forget Chloe or stop loving her," he declared.

EJ entered the house and overheard Nicole telling Johnny that they needed to keep a secret. She covered well. He was pleased to see the bond between Nic and Johnny. EJ took Johnny to have lunch. When he came back, Nicole asked him the latest on the custody front. He reported that Judge Fitzpatrick saw things from the DiMera perspective and was certain he could get sole custody of the boy. Nicole wasn't pleased, which took EJ by surprise. She explained that she couldn't replace Sami and that Johnny cries for his mother at night. EJ didn't want to hear it. "A little difficulty in life breeds character," EJ noted. "Oh, my God. You didn't just say that," Nicole replied. He told her he needed her support. "I lost a daughter. Me, not you. Me," he pointed out. "I lost a daughter, too," she said, covering that she feels like the lost a daughter because Grace was born at the same time as Sydney. Stefano came in during their talk. EJ left. Stefano told Nicole that Rafe had been by earlier. She said she didn't know why, but he was suspicious. He decided to do some investigating into Hernandez.

In the cemetery, Sami found Rafe at Emily's grave and asked who she was. He brushed it off as someone he used to know. "How?" Sami asked. He snapped that he didn't want to talk about, which made Sami wonder why he was hiding it from her. She apologized for being pushy and said she wouldn't bug him about Emily anymore. She said she had to talk to him about Nicole. She revealed that Nicole brought Sami to her and told him that Nicole told her he had been digging around. He downplayed it.

Kate and Chloe went to the Brady Pub. Kate asked Chloe to get her a coffee. While Chloe was at the counter, Allie picked up the poisoned apple. Kate took it from her, which prompted Chloe to question her. Kate apologized, explaining that Allie surprised her. Allie wanted the apple but Kate said it was too close to dinner. Chloe offered to take Allie for a walk on the pier. Kate tagged along. Chloe grabbed the apple. At the pier, Chloe was about to take a bite when Daniel appeared. Kate checked on Allie. Chloe and Daniel sat together and had a chat about Kate. Chloe assured Daniel she could handle her, then thanked him for the basket. She took a bit of the apple as Kate looked on, pleased.

Sami went to the Brady Pub and asked Arianna if she had seen Allie. Ari told her that Kate and Chloe took her. Ari then offered sympathy over Grace. Sami noted that she had just been at the cemetery and added that Rafe had been there, too. Sami asked if Ari knew who Emily was. Ari got uncomfortable. Rafe came in and called Sami out. She explained that Emily came up in conversation and she wasn't grilling Ari. Rafe told her to promise him that she would never talk about Emily again.
