"How do you think Chad would feel if he found out my rehab counselor adopted a baby?" Mia asked Nicole, just as Chad walked in. Chad confronted Nicole about her lies and demanded to know what was going on. Nicole said she was there counseling Mia. "You mean helping her lie," snorted Chad, accusing Nicole of coming up with that lame story about Mia being in rehab. Chad wondered if Mia told Nicole she had a baby and questioned the fact that Nicole adopted a child. He put two and two together and asked if Mia gave their baby to Nicole. Mia relented, admitting it was true. Nicole flashed back to the baby switch. Chad demanded to see his child. Nicole insisted Sydney wasn't his child. Chad challenged her to prove it with a DNA test. Mia stood by Nicole, noting Sydney had been adopted and that Nicole and EJ were giving her a good life. Nicole pointed out Chad was a broke high school kid. Chad wouldn't be deterred. He was Sydney's dad and wanted her to know him. Nicole urged Chad to let this go. Chad ran off.

EJ confronted Brady about knowing Nicole's dirty little secrets and helping her keep them from him. "I lost my whole family because of you," spat EJ, noting that everybody knew Brady was in love with Nicole. Brady countered that Nicole loved EJ, swearing the two of them were just friends. He insisted Nicole lied because she wanted to be with EJ and make him happy. "That's why she got Sydney," said Brady. EJ called Nicole "corrupt" and "morally vacant." Brady chastised EJ for tossing Nicole and Sydney out on the street. EJ said he didn't owe Brady an explanation. Brady said he was glad the way things turned out, because EJ didn't deserve a happy family.

Sami visited Grace's grave and rambled on about the missing Rafe. She asked Grace to look after him and left. Sami went jogging and ran into Brady. They discussed Nicole and EJ. Sami sympathized with Nicole, but couldn't believe she lied to EJ about having a miscarriage and brought a strange baby into his house. Brady wished EJ could have seen things from Nicole's perspective. Sami said she got why Nicole lied, but was shocked to find out Brady was involved in he the whole mess.

Carly worked to revive Rafe, insisting they had to get him to a hospital. Rafe remembered back to Sami caring for him in the safe house and called out for her. Carly went on about not wanting to watch Rafe die. The ghost of Lawrence emerged and asked if Carly was trying to atone for murdering him. Carly spat that she had to off Lawrence, before he killed her. She had no regrets. Lawrence promised his minions would find and punish her. Rafe continued dreaming of Sami. He opened his eyes and Carly turned into her. He called out, "Sam." Carly wondered who Sam was. Omar returned, and Carly gave him an update on Rafe's condition: the worst was over. Carly was concerned about the ship-to-shore signals for help Omar had sent out, certain they were monitored. If Rafe stayed with them, he'd be in danger because of her. She suggested pulling into a port and dropping her and Rafe off. Later, an attendant emerged and pulled a gun on Carly.

Daniel arrived home. Chloe greeted him with a kiss, when they heard a baby fussing in the background. Chloe fetched Sydney, explaining she was babysitting. The pair sensed something was amiss with the tyke. Turned out she needed a diaper change, which Daniel tended to. Chloe noted Daniel would make a terrific dad. Daniel wanted to rustle up some food, but Chloe noted the fridge was bare. Daniel suggested going out. Chloe noted that going out with Sydney would be good practice for when they had kids. Daniel made a face, noting they should talk about kids another time. Chloe thought Daniel didn't want to have children. Daniel insisted he wanted to take it slow. They'd start thinking about a family when the time was right. There was a knock at the door. It was Nicole, saying she needed her daughter right now.

Back at the mansion, EJ poured himself a drink, looked at a picture of Sydney, and remembered how she lit up his life. The doorbell rang. EJ answered it to find Chad. "Where is Sydney?" asked Chad, declaring he was the tyke's father.
