Belle told Shawn that she didn't ask for separate beds. Gabby offered, upon noticing Belle wasn't wearing a wedding ring. Shawn was annoyed that a stranger now knew that Belle didn't want to sleep with him. Shawn hated the thought of everyone knowing their business and wondering why he couldn't "satisfy" his woman. Belle made a crack about Shawn falling behind on the scoreboard, but she wasn't ready to make love. Belle brought up the purity rings they once wore and how Shawn broke her heart when he left her. Particularly, when he slept with Jan, Mimi and Willow. "Everything's different now," said Shawn. Belle insisted it wasn't, until she knew what they had was forever. Shawn took a blanket and pillow and headed to sleep outside.

After Dr. Kraft got Steve to take his medication, Kayla came in. Steve apologized for what he'd done and asked Kayla not to tell Stephanie about it. In turn, he'd take his meds and get therapy. Kayla said she loved Steve, but he had used that love to manipulate her. Steve kissed her, and Kayla admitted it felt like the real deal. Steve drifted off; then, came back and asked Kayla for an answer regarding Stephanie. Kayla demanded full disclosure. Namely, Steve identifying the person who ordered him to steal John from the hospital. Kayla knew it was EJ, but Steve said he had nothing to do with it. Kayla said EJ was evil and needed to be stopped, by her. As Kayla left, Steve screamed, "He'll kill you! He'll kill Stephanie!"

EJ interrupted Willow and Nick chatting at the bar at Chez Rouge. Willow promptly left, and EJ introduced himself to Nick. EJ asked if Sami had had her amnio test done in his lab, but Nick refused to offer up any information. Celeste arrived and said hello to Maggie. She spotted Nick with EJ and eavesdropped on their conversation. EJ insisted Nick have a drink with him; then, tried to bribe him for information with a new sports car. "I'm not for sale," retorted Nick. After EJ left, Maggie came over and Nick filled her in on their talk about Sami. Maggie wondered why it was any of EJ's business.

Sami and Lucas got frisky in the living room and decided to take things to the bedroom, just in case Will and Chelsea woke up. Lucas cleaned up his desk and noticed the blank lab report. Sami said she must have picked it up accidentally when she was at the doctor's office. Lucas crumpled it and tossed it in the trash. They resumed kissing, when Sami remembered she had to take her vitamins, lock up, and take out the trash. Sami exited with the trash, giving Lucas the chance to phone Kate about Sami's surprise bridal shower, the next day. In the hall, Sami ran into EJ, who pressured her about the amnio results. Sami said EJ would know when she did. Lucas interrupted, briefly; then, went back inside. Alone, Sami retrieved the lab report from the trash and went home.

Later, Willow arrived on EJ's doorstep, noting that she'd done everything he'd asked. Namely, breaking into Bo's house and stealing Hope's jewelry. Why wouldn't EJ pay her? Willow noted that she took Hope's trinkets to every pawn shop in town, but no one would touch them. Finally, EJ handed Willow the card of a man who handled pre-owned collectibles, suggesting Willow take the goods, there. Then, he warned her never to come back to his place. Back at Sami's apartment, Lucas mentioned that he could tell EJ was still interested in Sami. Sami said it didn't matter, because she loved Lucas. As Lucas headed to the bedroom, Sami promised to follow after she took her vitamins. Sami's cell rang and it was Celeste, wanting to warn her about EJ. Sami hung up on her, noting that she was handling the situation. Then, Sami flattened out the crumpled lab report and hid it in a drawer, telling herself that her plan had to work.

Shawn stopped Belle from making a call to Marlena; then, laced into her for going against their agreement not to phone home. Belle explained that she missed her mom and insisted that they were safe. They'd beaten Philip. In fact, he probably thought they were dead. Shawn doubted Philip would ever give up looking for them and urged Belle to forget about Salem. Belle finally saw Shawn's point, but asked him for a compromise: finding a way to contact Marlena. Shawn suggested sending a confidential letter addressed to the Salem PD. When Gabby returned, she volunteered to mail Belle's letter. Shawn and Belle went upstairs, where Shawn quickly got upset upon seeing two beds in their room. Once again, he specifically asked Belle to do something and she did the opposite. Downstairs, Gabby decided not to mail the letter, ripping it up and tossing it in the trash.

At the cabin, Roman told Kayla that Marlena took Billie to the hospital, where she was checked out and was fine. Kayla lamented that Steve could have gotten himself and Billie killed. She never felt so frustrated and helpless. Unfortunately, Roman had more bad news: he'd talked to the DA and the judge wanted Steve behind bars, tonight. Kayla noted that Steve was sick and needed help. Roman volunteered to talk to the judge, again, but Kayla had another idea: contacting Dr. Kraft. Perhaps she could request that Steve be brought to the state hospital. The cops arrived and Roman told them to take Steve there.

Chelsea was packing her things when Billie got home. Chelsea noticed the bruise on her face, so Billie explained what happened and how the doctor said she'd be fine. Billie got woozy, so Chelsea went to phone her doctor. Meanwhile, Billie took a peek at Chelsea's diary and read how much she hated her for what she'd done. When Chelsea returned she wanted to go, but Billie convinced her to stay. Chelsea relayed how Sami told her not to hold a grudge. Still, she felt humiliated. If Billie loved her, why would she sleep with Nick? Billie said she never intended to hurt her daughter. Chelsea prepared to go, but found Roman at the door anxious to discuss the fire at Bo and Hope's house. Chelsea admitted she was there and slipped a note under the door, but had nothing to do with the fire. Roman said the note wasn't found and that Abby told him that Chelsea needed some quick cash, adding that Hope's jewelry was taken. Billie ordered Roman to leave. He obliged, noting that he'd arrange for Chelsea to come in and make an official statement. After Roman left, Billie assured Chelsea she'd stand by her and asked her to stay the night. Chelsea, however, wanted to go to Sami and Lucas's apartment.

At the state hospital, Kayla talked to Dr. Kraft, who said they couldn't possibly check Steve back in. He had his chance and blew it. Kayla passionately pled Steve's case, but Dr. Kraft insisted he was dangerous and liability to their other patients. Meanwhile, an orderly wheeled Steve outside the room, where he listened to Kayla beg the doctor to help him. Soon, Roman arrived and noted that he'd spoken with Marlena. If Dr. Kraft agreed to file a petition on Steve's behalf, Marlena would go to bat for him, too. Kayla implored Dr. Kraft to give Steve a second chance, and she finally agreed. Later, Kayla was in Steve's room with him and begged him to cooperate with the doctors.

Duck pressed Shawn about what he, Belle and Claire were running from. Shawn did his best to dodge him until Duck threatened to call the States. Finally, Shawn told him the whole story, promising that he and his family wouldn't be in Duck's way for more than a couple of days. Shawn asked Duck if he could trust him. Duck said that Shawn could, unless trouble followed Shawn and Belle to the island. If so, Shawn shouldn't expect Duck to stick out his neck for him.

When Belle 'fessed up about her situation with Shawn, Gabby offered to move another twin bed into their room and promised not to breathe a word to Duck. Afterwards, Gabby suggested Belle take a relaxing shower; then, Gabby went to fetch Claire so she could take her to the beach. "Take your hands off my daughter, now!" snapped Belle, explaining how she couldn't bear to have Claire out of her sight. Belle went on about missing her parents and how she had no idea if her father was even alive. She wished she could talk to them for just a moment. Gabby said she could on the pay phone downstairs, but Belle was hesitant. She promised Shawn that she wouldn't make any calls. "Then we won't tell him," responded Gabby. Belle and Gabby proceeded downstairs where they crossed paths with Shawn, who took Claire up to their room. When Shawn realized he didn't have his key, he headed back down to get Belle's and overheard her trying to make a call home.

Celeste was waiting for her meal at The Penthouse Grill when she realized something was wrong, jumped up, and raced to the elevator. The door opened and there stood EJ, who promptly mentioned seeing Celeste there with Sami, earlier, and warned her not to interfere in matters that didn't concern her. EJ insisted that Celeste go to the bar to have a drink with him. Celeste let EJ know that she believed he'd ordered Lexie dead. He, however, wanted to discuss Celeste's meeting with Sami in the powder room earlier. Celeste insisted there was no meeting. She never saw Sami and wanted nothing to do with her. EJ apologized, noting he must have been mistaken, and attempted to give Celeste an update on Stefano's health. Celeste made it clear she wasn't interested. She hoped the world would be rid of Stefano's "miserable presence" soon.

At the cabin, Marlena admitted that she called Roman when she and Kayla stopped at the gas station. The police would be their any minute, so Steve wasn't going anywhere. When Steve tried to push his way out, Marlena sprayed him with mace and he fell to the floor. Marlena tied up Steve as Kayla stood there, shocked. Billie went outside for some air and Marlena followed her, leaving Kayla alone with Steve. Steve implored Kayla to cut the ties that bound him. He still loved her and they could run off together. Outside, Billie and Marlena discussed Steve's condition, and Billie questioned EJ being the one behind his brainwashing. "Your concussion is worse than I thought," countered Marlena. Inside, Steve professed his love for Kayla, desperate to get her to set him free. Kayla kissed him and realized he wasn't the old Steve. Then, she ran outside sobbing. As police cars approached, Steve managed to stand up and try to escape. The women entered the cabin just in time, as Marlena subdued Steve with an injection.

Belle and Shawn woke up to a miracle: Claire slept through the night and no longer had a fever. After Belle thanked Shawn for taking such good care of her and Claire, he announced that he was going downstairs to work for Duck. Belle wanted Shawn to ask Gabby if she could switch them to a room with two beds. Shawn didn't think it was a good idea to draw attention to themselves, since they were fugitives. When Belle persisted, Shawn said he'd sleep outside from now on. Belle insisted that Gabby and Duck weren't a threat to them, but Shawn wasn't sure and was angry. He'd risked his life for Belle and Claire, and Belle couldn't stand to be in the same room as him. Belle admitted she was confused about her feelings. Shawn agreed to give Belle all the time she needed. Later, while Shawn worked for Duck, Gabby visited Belle. She noticed Belle wasn't wearing a wedding ring and asked if she and Shawn had set a date. Belle asked if Gabby was interested in Shawn, but Gabby swore she didn't go after guys who were taken. Belle explained that she and Shawn were taking things slow. Gabby offered to switch them to a room with twin beds. Meanwhile, a suspicious Duck asked Shawn if he had something to hide.

Chelsea told Willow to stay away from Nick. Willow taunted Chelsea, noting that she liked Nick "in that Clark Kent sort of way." Chelsea insisted she wasn't going to let Willow take advantage of Nick. Willow said that Chelsea was going to have a hard time stopping her from prison, after burning down Bo's house. Chelsea claimed she was innocent and pointed out that Nick only helped Willow because he felt sorry for her. He'd find out she was a liar soon enough. Again, Willow said that Chelsea wouldn't be able to stop her because she'd be in jail — only this time she mentioned robbing Bo's house. "How did you know?" asked Chelsea, noting that Willow knew a lot about what happened for someone who wasn't there. Willow insisted she had no reason to hurt Bo and Hope. She was carrying their grandchild and they were paying her medical bills. Willow suggested that perhaps Bo saw this whole fire as a blessing in disguise to get Chelsea out of his life. An angry and teary-eyed Chelsea left, as Willow took out Hope's stolen jewelry and realized she had to get rid of it.

Marlena and Kayla trailed Billie and Steve via the map they found at Billie's apartment. Kayla hoped that Steve would turn himself in once they found him. Marlena warned Kayla that Steve was dangerous and wanted to call the police. Kayla wouldn't let her, insisting EJ was the dangerous one who needed to be stopped by HER! Marlena warned Kayla that the DiMeras would destroy anyone who crossed them. When Kayla spotted a gas station, she stopped to ask if anyone had seen Steve. She returned and told Marlena that a trucker had spotted an overturned car in a ditch two miles north. Marlena and Kayla took off to find it.

Steve carried an unconscious Billie into a cabin and placed her on a bed. When she awakened, Steve told Billie about their accident. Billie urged Steve to go back to Salem and get the help he needed. Steve said he couldn't. Then he gave Billie his cell phone to call for help and turned to leave. Steve opened the door, and there stood Kayla and Marlena. Kayla begged Steve to turn himself in, but Steve refused to be locked up in a mental hospital again. Marlena remained adamant that Steve wasn't going anywhere unless he turned himself in.

Lucas showed Kate swatches from Sami's bridesmaids' dresses, so she could pick a color-coordinated dress. Kate hemmed and hawed about it, since she already bought an Armando original. Eventually, she gave in. Meanwhile, Sami and Chelsea got fitted for their wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as Sami fretted about her latest trip down the aisle going off without a hitch. Sami noted that she invited Kate for Lucas's sake and hoped her future mother-in-law would behave. Chelsea wondered how Sami could forgive Kate and went on about how she hated Billie since learning she slept with Nick. Sami recounted finding Marlena and John together, years ago, and how she'd let it fester inside her. She advised Chelsea to straighten things out with her mom, but Chelsea wasn't very receptive. There was a knock on the door and it was EJ, who'd figured out that Billie was with Steve earlier. Chelsea left, and EJ taunted Sami about the baby she was carrying. Sami told him that she'd had an amnio and would have proof that the child was Lucas's soon. EJ warned Sami that she'd better not be up to anything.

Steve instructed Billie that they were leaving via her fire escape. Just then, Chelsea knocked at the door and called out to her mom. Steve insisted he and Billie exit as planned. He needed her to get across the state line. As they made their getaway, Kayla filled Marlena in on the situation with Steve: the police had an APB out on him. Kayla apologized for what happened to John. He and Steve were both victims of the DiMeras, who turned them into violent people. Marlena pointed out that she was never afraid of John, even while Steve tried to kill Kayla and kidnapped John from the hospital. Kayla's phone rang and it was EJ, informing her that Steve was at Billie's apartment. Marlena wanted to call Roman, but Kayla insisted on handling this herself. Kayla and Marlena arrived at Billie's only to find that she and Steve were gone. Kayla found a map with a route highlighted on it and showed it to Marlena. Kayla begged Marlena to go with her to find Billie and Steve. Marlena wanted to call Roman, but reluctantly agreed.

Nick found Willow sobbing after her doctor's appointment and asked if she was okay. Willow said she had no job, no money and no place to live, before getting up to leave and fainting. When Willow came to, Nick offered to help her get subsidized housing via his Uncle Mickey. Willow hugged Nick just as Chelsea arrived. When Willow left, Nick apologized to Chelsea again, but she wasn't interested. It was over between them. Later, Chelsea showed up at Willow's room at the YWCA and warned her to steer clear of Nick.

EJ arrived at Kate's, where she babbled on about her dress and Sami torturing her. EJ noted that Sami had more on her mind than torturing Kate. "She is up to something. Isn't she?" asked Kate, suggesting that EJ had his own agenda, too. EJ countered that he and Kate had the same agenda, as he started nuzzling her neck and reminding her of that old saying, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Meanwhile, Lucas arrived home to Sami and told her that Kate loved the fabric sample. The phone rang and it was Kate, apologizing for her behavior earlier. She had an idea: She wanted to toss Sami a surprise wedding shower as a gesture of good will. Lucas was thrilled.

While Billie drove their getaway car, Steve noticed his map was gone. He accused Billie of leaving it behind on purpose, so someone could tail them. Steve screamed at Billie to pull over and get out of the car. Billie refused and they struggled for the steering wheel as the car swerved off the road.
