At the hospital in Italy, Kayla, dressed as a nun and Max, dressed as a priest, prepared to go into Stefano's room. A henchman put a gun to Max's head. Kayla saved them by speaking Italian (she said she wanted to pray with Stefano). The henchman opened up the hospital room. Max asked her how she knows how to speak Italian. She said she read some phrase books. The henchman came out and said, in English, that Stefano was sleeping, and trained his gun on the duo. Max distracted the guy and got his gun. Kayla went into the room, where Stefano was under the oxygen tent. She bent down and noted that he had stitches around his kidney area. Kayla fingerprinted Stefano and took a photo of him. She then came out, to Max's relief. They locked the henchman in the closet and threw the keys away. She told Max to throw the gun out, too. He did; the two hurried out.

EJ visited Steve at the hospital. Steve asked what he wanted. EJ said that Steve was on his own and wouldn't be getting any help from him any more. EJ also suggested that Steve behave himself while locked up. Steve pushed him against the wall and said EJ couldn't continue to pull the strings. "Yes, I can," EJ smirked.

On her laptop, Sami worked on the phony DNA document as Celeste stood by. "It's some of my better work, if I do say so myself," she boasted. Celeste told her it wasn't good enough. Sami insisted it was a perfect forgery. Celeste warned her that things would only get worse. "Get rid of him," she advised. Sami lost her temper and yelled that she would not kill EJ. Celeste warned her that she'd regret her decision someday. Sami printed the report and put it in an envelope. She got a paper cut in the process. Celeste left. Sami called EJ, who was still with Steve. She asked to see him right away. He left Steve, but not before telling Steve to advise Kayla to keep out of his business, or else Steve would be a widower. Steve demanded to see Dr. Kraft, but she was with another patient. He pounded on the door in frustration, claiming he took too many pills. Dr. K came in and asked what he took. He said he didn't take anything, but that she needed to call his wife because he had to talk to her. Dr. K complied, then revealed that Kayla was out of the country for a few days.

EJ arrived at Sami's apartment and asked if she got the test results. They were still sealed, which surprised him. She said she felt they should open them together. He told her to open them. She did and began to cry tears of happiness. He asked if she was okay. She said that he was more than okay because EJ was not the father. He grabbed the results out of her hand. He appeared shocked and devastated.

Belle and Shawn packed up their things. After, he took her engagement ring and went to go find a boat. He found Gabby crying outside his room, but she said it was her allergies. He revealed that he and Belle were leaving the island by selling the ring to get a boat. She looked at the ring and remarked that he'd get more for it in Australia. He said they needed to leave right away. She said she'd try to help them — and that she'd miss them. Gabby went in their room and asked Belle what she could do to convince them to stay. Belle suspected she wanted them to stay because of Shawn. Gabby again insisted she wasn't after Shawn. Belle accused her of not being completely honest. Gabby accused her of being paranoid. Belle admitted that Duck gave her a warning about Gabby. Gabby laughed it off, but did confess that she wished she could leave with Belle.

In the bar, Shawn told Duck that he, Belle and Claire were leaving the island. Duck noted that Shawn still owed him room and board money and hadn't worked it off yet. Duck also suggested that Shawn was leaving because he was into Gabby. Shawn denied it and said he didn't know how Gabby turned out so well being raised by Duck.

Shawn came back upstairs and reported to Gabby and Belle that he told Duck they'd be leaving. She said she'd work on getting them a boat. She went downstairs and kicked some things around the bar. Duck asked what was wrong with her. She yelled at him that he sucked and that she didn't want to talk to him. Fine, he replied, I'll go fishing. Gabby made a call about the boat, then heard a man clear his throat. She turned around to see Philip standing in the bar. Shawn came down the stairs and spied Philip, who was showing a photo of him, Belle and Claire to Gabby. Shawn hid.

Belle was restless in the room and told Shawn that she wanted to leave the island because it wasn't a good place to raise a child. She admitted she was also worried about the sheriff. Shawn asked how she planned to get to Australia. She said she wanted to see if she could exchange her ring from Philip for a boat that they could sail there. He pushed her to admit the other reason why she really wanted to leave. Before she could, Gabby came in with café au lait for them and told Shawn that Duck needed him in the bar. Gabby could tell something was wrong and asked Belle if everything was okay with Claire. Belle asked why Gabby was so preoccupied with her child. Gabby insisted that she just cared about them. Belle said she felt it was a little too much. Gabby apologized for overstepping but said she didn't have a lot of girlfriends on the island. "Are you sure it's a girlfriend you're looking for?" Belle countered. Gabby vehemently denied having any interest in Shawn. Shawn came in during their argument. Gabby took off. Shawn sensed the tension. Belle asked him if he loved her. He said he did. She replied that she needed to hear it from him. "Belle, I love you," he said. She told him she loved him, too, and apologized for being hard on him. She said she knew they had a future together, but it just wasn't there. "This isn't the best place for us to find our way back to each other and it really scares me... I can't take losing you," she cried. They hugged. Shawn vowed not to break her heart. They kissed. He agreed to leave the island. She was thrilled. Gabby eavesdropped outside.

Chelsea came by the lab to see Nick. He tried to apologize, but she didn't want to talk about Billie. She asked if he still loved her. "I love you more, Chelsea," he replied. She was happy and explained that she had a problem that only he could fix. She told him about the fire and how the Bradys had been robbed. The jewelry was found in Willow's room, she revealed. He was surprised. She then told him that her hairbrush was discovered at the scene and that Willow stole it and planted it there. Nick asked what she wanted him to do about it. "I need you to get me off the hook," she replied. Nick said he hoped she wasn't asking him to swipe it. Yup, that's exactly what she wanted him to do. "You want me to break the law? Risk losing my job?" he asked. She said yes. He refused. She said it was because he thinks she did it. He insisted that wasn't it. She said she'd do anything for him and thought he'd do the same for her. She stormed out.

On the plane en route to Italy, Kayla thanked Max for going with her. He asked her to explain exactly what she thought was going on with EJ and Steve. She revealed that EJ forced Steve to kidnap John and then she removed one of his kidneys. "You did WHAT?" he asked. Kayla said she believes EJ needed it to give Stefano a transplant. They talked about how they were going to get into Stefano's hospital room. Max spied a priest and thought of a plan. When the padre went to the bathroom, Max swiped a priest's collar out of his bag. An alarmed Kayla asked what he was doing. He said the priest wouldn't miss it. He also commended Kayla for being so strong. When the priest returned, a guilty Kayla asked the if she could make a donation to his parish.

In the hospital common room, the standoff between Steve and Foley continued. Steve agreed to clean the slop on the floor then ended up putting a burger patty on each of Foley's shoes, which elicited laughter from the fellow inmates. Foley grabbed Steve by the shirt, then pushed him away. He again ordered Steve to clean up, but Steve wouldn't and taunted him. Foley threatened to zap him with his stun gun. "Bring it on," Steve replied. Foley did. Steve fell to the floor as Dr. Kraft came in and asked what was happening. She reamed Foley out and told him to take care of the mess. The inmates applauded. Dr. K took Steve back to his room. He blew Foley a kiss on the way out. Foley later warned him that he made a bad enemy.

On Tinda Lao, Gabby was angry at Shawn for attacking Charlie because she explained that Charlie is a local who knows the sheriff. Duck reamed him out after and said he got a call from the sheriff. He also told Shawn to leave. Shawn went upstairs and told Belle to start packing. She chided him for his bad temper and refused to go since she had nothing to do with his act of bravery with Gabby. "You think I took that guy on because he was talking trash about Gabby? I belted him because he insulted you," Shawn clarified. "You were defending me?" she asked, surprised. Gabby ran up to help Shawn and Belle get away, but the sheriff was at their door. He took Shawn downstairs and asked him what happened with Charlie. Gabby verified his account and urged the sheriff to ask Charlie to drop the charges. He said he would, then asked for Shawn, Belle and Claire's passports. "Passports?" gulped Shawn. Belle came downstairs with Claire. The sheriff realized that they didn't have passports. Belle and Shawn told him the truth, that they were running from someone who wanted Claire and it wasn't safe at home. The sheriff didn't buy their story. Gabby once again defended them.

Duck secretly entered Shawn and Belle's room to see what they were hiding. He came downstairs while the sheriff was talking to Shawn and Belle and declared them liars. He showed the sheriff their fake passports. Gabby pointed out that everyone on the island lies about who they are and why they're there. "We all came here to get lost, for one reason or another," she noted. The sheriff relented, but said there was still Charlie's complaint. Gabby said she'd talk to Charlie. Shawn asked for the passports back, but the sheriff said no. He also instructed them not to leave the island. After, Shawn apologized to Gabby. She said it was okay and she was glad they were staying. They hugged. Upstairs, Belle put Claire to sleep. Duck showed up, looking for Shawn. She told him Shawn was at the bar. "With Gabby," he remarked. He then asked what was going on with Shawn and Belle and gave her "fair warning" about Gabby. "She's got a weakness and it's a big one... Men. Dark hair, baby blues, top of the list," he said. Belle tossed him from the room.

Kayla invited Max to lunch at Chez Rouge. They discussed Abby and how helpful she's been at the garage. Max asked her what she wanted to talk to him about. She proposed that he accompany her to Italy, but cautioned that it could be a dangerous journey. She explained how EJ had a hold on Steve and she wanted to find out what they did to him. "What's in Italy?" Max asked. "Stefano DiMera," she responded. Max warned her that the idea was insane. He suggested she go to Bo and Roman, but she said that Italy is out of their jurisdiction and that their hands were tied. She implored Max to help her. "With or without you, I am going," she announced. Max was still unsure, but agreed on one condition: That they stop in New York to see Abby. "Oh, so the two of you really are an item," Kayla smiled. He insisted they were just friends. "When did you become such a lousy liar? From Frankie?" she teased. She then agreed to his condition, but made him promise not to tell anyone that they were going. "Your secret is safe with me," he assured her.

In the mental ward, Steve got a visit from Dr. Kraft. Steve complained about the effects of his medication. She told Steve he had to keep taking them. If he did, she would give him some perks. "Lunch with the loonies? TV ... whoa. I can catch up on the soaps while I'm all tanked up and drooling," he responded sarcastically. She gave him his meds, but he only pretended to swallow them. He then joined the other patients for lunch. "Look out for the chickens," one of them warned. Dr. K visited Steve in the common room, but he pretended to be out of it from the pills. She asked what made him kidnap John from the hospital and ask Kayla to remove his kidney. She suggested he had Stockholm Syndrome. He cracked it was a nice town and that he had spent time there. She got a call and left. He privately vowed to get back to Kayla. Steve gave his lunch leftovers to Gordon, another patient, who then got in trouble from Joe the orderly for eating more than one meal. Steve confronted Joe. The men argued. Joe threw the food off of the table, then ordered Steve to clean it up. Steve refused.

On the island, Shawn gave money to Belle to buy some things for Claire. They headed to a second-hand store. After, Shawn went to work. A drunken patron named Charlie hit on Gabby, who wasn't receptive. Shawn got in his face. Gabby went upstairs with Belle and Claire and took fun photos of Claire while she chatted with Belle. Belle asked if something went down with Gabby and Shawn the night before. Gabby insisted she wasn't trying to take Shawn away and wasn't looking to settle down with one man. She added that there was no other girl for Shawn but Belle. Back in the bar later, Gabby took photos of Shawn, Belle and Claire, then offered to send another letter to the States for them. (Even though she never sent the first.) Charlie got drunker at the bar and offered to take Belle off of Shawn's hands and show her what a real man can do. Shawn punched him; Gabby yelled for him to stop.

Willow returned to the YWCA to find Hope in her room, holding the stolen jewels. "Is there something you want to tell me, Willow?" Hope asked. Willow claimed the jewels belonged to her great aunt. Hope pointed out the coincidence that she shared the same taste in jewelry with Willow's great aunt. Willow feigned ignorance and insisted that she wasn't at the Brady house the night of the fire. She blamed Chelsea, then ran out of the room.

Bo came to Billie's apartment with the cops in tow, to question Chelsea and search her apartment. Bo asked how her hairbrush wound up in his house. Chelsea didn't have an answer. Hope called Bo on his cell and revealed that she found Willow's jewelry. "Very good work, Fancy Face," he commended. Bo reported what Hope told him. Bo asked if the brush was Willow's. A lying Chelsea nodded her head. Bo apologized to his daughter. "I couldn't be happier to be wrong," he smiled. Bo and Chelsea hugged. Hope came in and Chelsea hugged her, too. Hope revealed that Willow claimed Chelsea framed her. Chelsea vehemently denied it. Once alone, Chelsea made a panicked phone call. At the YWCA, Willow was arrested.

EJ opened the door to a squabbling Sami and Celeste. Sami was ushered in to her surprise shower. Philip gave Sami a gift, but noticed that she seemed distracted. She was, staring at EJ. He walked over and interrupted their conversation. Sami pulled Philip aside and thanked him for coming. Kate came over with a tray of artichoke puffs and offered one to the guest of honor. EJ then pulled Sami into her bedroom to talk. Kate worked on Celeste. Lucas came in and Kate smirked that the fun had just begun. Philip approached Lucas, and Lucas asked what he was doing there. Kate noted that Lucas was being hostile and suggested the brothers talk it out. They went out into the hall and Philip apologized to Lucas for his past behavior. Lucas didn't accept it. "We're brothers," Phil stated. "When it's convenient," Lucas retorted.

Back inside, Celeste claimed to Kate that she and Sami were discussing Will's education, since Abe is looking into schools for Theo.

In Sami's room, EJ asked what she and Celeste were talking about in the hallway. He threatened to expose her as a liar about the night she saved Lucas. She turned it around and called her father to expose EJ, but Roman was in a meeting with the mayor. Undeterred, EJ called Bo and said Sami had something to tell him. He handed her the phone and told her not to keep Uncle Bo waiting. Sami took the phone; Bo asked if she was alright and what EJ was doing there. She said he just showed up at her shower. She covered and thanked Bo for the gift. "Why are you using his phone?" Bo asked. Sami lied that someone was on her land line and that her cell died. Bo told her to enjoy the party, but said he had to go. When Sami hung up, EJ played mind games with her. She began to cry, saying she wanted to enjoy her shower like a normal bride. She asked him to give her one night to be happy. Celeste then texted Sami to let her know the cover story she gave Kate. Sami pulled herself together and told EJ that she and Celeste were discussing an elementary school for Theo.

Lucas and Philip returned to the apartment. Phil told Kate that Lucas wouldn't accept his apology. Kate again tried to mediate between her sons. Lucas asked when Sami was getting there. Kate grinned that she was already there — in the bedroom with EJ. Lucas walked in as Sami was giving her cover story to EJ. EJ excused himself. Lucas asked her what was going on. She said she wasn't scared of EJ and that she loved Lucas so much. They began to kiss. Out in the living room, Kate revealed to EJ that Celeste told her she wanted to talk to Sami about schools. EJ said Sami told him the same thing. EJ and Lucas came back into the room and joined the party. EJ lurked outside in the hallway.

Belle had trouble getting Claire to sleep. Duck came by the room to talk to Shawn, but Belle said he wasn't there. Duck wondered where he was. A frazzled Belle advised him to ask a question if he had one; if not, leave. "You don't have to get huffy," Duck remarked. Belle explained that she had a long day. Duck left a message for Shawn with her and took off.

Gabby came upon Shawn camped out on the furniture in the bar. They shared a beer and Shawn admitted that he and Belle had a fight. Gabby asked if they've exchanged "I love yous". Shawn said no, but added that they have time to work things out. Gabby got a little flirty. They then had a heart-to-heart about Gabby's past. She revealed that her mother was a prostitute who died. A year later, Duck claimed her as his child and took care of her. She compared Duck to Shawn, saying he'd do anything for his little girl. Duck eavesdropped on their conversation. Belle came down with Claire, saying Shawn needed to put the baby to sleep. Upstairs, Shawn got Claire to bed. He told Belle that all of the misunderstandings they've been having have been his fault. "From now on, we're gonna live for Claire," he announced to his confused ex.

In Salem, Philip called a meeting with EJ to talk about Shawn. Phil revealed that he thinks Shawn, Belle and Claire are alive. They agreed to share any information they had about Shawn going forward.

Sami frantically searched the apartment for her wedding folder because she and Lucas had a meeting with the Web site, theknot.com. He rushed her to find it. Lucas secretly called Kate to report that Operation Surprise Wedding Shower was in effect and that Sami didn't suspect a thing.

Hope stopped in to Billie's apartment before the shower to discuss Chelsea and the fire. Billie insisted that Chelsea wasn't responsible. Hope said she didn't want to believe that Chelsea was. Chelsea and Kate arrived at Sami and Lucas's apartment, but had to wait for the duo to leave. After, they went in and set everything up for the shower. Kate bashed Sami; Chelsea defended them, saying that they were really in love. Kate talked to Chelsea about Billie and Nick's hookup, trying to make the teen understand Billie's point of view. Hope and Chelsea came over with their gifts. Chelsea excused herself to make a phone call. She headed home. Hope showed up moments later to talk to her stepdaughter. She revealed that Billie and Kate have both defended Chelsea, insisting she's innocent of the fire. Chelsea commented that Bo thinks she's guilty. "I know I'm a lot of things, but I'm not an arsonist. If anyone is, it's Willow. She has a history of setting fires," Chelsea noted. Bingo! Hope noted that Willow was a suspect. She then said that she believes Chelsea's innocent. Billie came in to report that Bo was on his way over to take her statement. Hope got a brainstorm and took off to follow a lead.

At Chez Rouge, Sami and Lucas met with Cydney, theknot.com representative. Celeste phoned her during the meal, but Sami told her never to call her again. Sami discussed her ideas with Cydney and seemed insulted that she called the wedding "traditional". Cydney suggested they do something different and have an environmentally-friendly "green" wedding. Sami thought it was an amazing idea. "Hold on to your hybrids," Lucas chimed in. "That's not happening." Lucas pointed out that the arrangements had already been made for the other wedding. "Pretty please, with tofu on top?" Sami asked. Lucas agreed to it.

Philip left EJ to go to Sami's shower. "Wedding shower? I better go shopping," EJ smirked to himself. Phil arrived at the apartment and asked who the other guests were. Friend of Sami and Lucas's from Mythic, Billie explained. Phil realized he was out of touch with his family and vowed to be in better communication. EJ showed up at the shower. Outside of the apartment, Celeste confronted Sami as she was about to walk in. Celeste reported that EJ was snooping around, looking for info from Nick about Sami. Sami revealed that she got the blank lab report from Nick. Celeste sighed that that wouldn't stop EJ. "EJ Wells doesn't scare me," Sami scoffed. "Well, he scares me," Celeste replied, explaining that she was trying to warn Sami about him. Sami opened her door, just as Celeste was saying, "That bastard from hell deserves to die." Oops: EJ was at the door and everyone yelled, "Surprise."
