After injecting Stefano with a drug, Marlena tried to rouse him. She waved smelling salts under his nose, which got him awake. She told him she gave him muscle relaxants and wouldn't be able to move his limbs or speak loudly. She told him she was going to inject him with more, which would paralyze him and put him into a catatonic state. "Outwardly, you're going to be a vegetable," she said calmly, adding that the symptoms were stroke-like. "You're a doctor, Marlena, not a monster. I won't let you do this," he said. Marlena asked him what John's mission was, but Stefano replied that he wouldn't tell her until he completed it. He said he could return John to the man he was before, but Marlena said he was lying. "I want to see you punished for all the people you have hurt.... This is for Shawn and Caroline and my twins and Bo and Hope and me. And the last drop is for John," she sneered as she injected him. "I curse you, Marlena Evans. I curse the entire Brady family," he slurred, then smirked that she would never be able to stop John from his mission. He went mute and she promised to pay him a visit when she got John back. She called for the guard and told him that Stefano had a stroke. The guard came in and Marlena exited. In his head, Stefano begged for the cop to see he was okay.
Hope came to the observation room at the station, where Bo, Abe and Roman were discussing Shawn's run-in with Rob. Bo worried that Shawn's rough tactics might prevent him from becoming a cop. Abe said it should, but that they were going to look the other way. Roman noted that Shawn needed a good talking-to from another cop. Hope said she'd do it. "Does this mean you're coming back?" Abe asked. "I don't think I ever really left," Hope pointed out. "Welcome back, Detective Brady," Roman smiled. Abe and Roman questioned Rob, while Bo and Hope watched from behind the glass. Rob wasn't forthcoming, but he did say that Crystal was scared of Stefano. He then remembered Crystal's alias and shared it with them.
Hope and Bo headed to the hospital to check on Belle. Shawn was there, as were Philip and Chloe. The Bradys told them that they had a lead on Crystal: She landed in Ireland that morning and had a little girl with her. Hope announced that she and Bo were leaving for the Emerald Isle that night. Shawn and Belle said they would come to, but Bo said they shouldn't. "Interpol is taking care of the whole operation," he explained, then took off with his wife. Once alone, Philip told the group he'd have his jet fueled and ready to go within the hour.
At the Pub, Stephanie tried to stop Chelsea from coming clean with Crawford Decker. Kayla and Steve agreed, but Chelsea was determined. She admitted that they had just meant to scare Ford and didn't think anything else would happen. She recounted the events of that night. Crawford was horrified that nobody called 911. Chelsea said Ford was already dead after he fell down the stairs. Steph added that she worried that nobody would believe them. Decker accused them of being liars, then asked what they did with Ford's body. They said they buried it in the basement, then moved it. Decker asked who was on the surveillance cameras, but Chelsea claimed she didn't know. Decker left, vowing revenge. Max arrived after and told everyone that he took Ford's body away. "You know you got yourself in pretty deep here, Maxwell," Steve said. Max said Ford was "scum" and that he'd do it again. Steve agreed and asked where the body was. Max wouldn't tell.
John got agitated and called out in his room. The nurse came in to sedate him, but he said he just wanted a visitor. He flirted with her and she left. He dozed off and had visions of Stefano programming him. Marlena visited him and told him that Stefano was no longer a problem. Good, John replied, then told her he remembered something and knew what his mission was. He told her that he recalled the word Obbin, which is the name of a priest who was born in Ireland years ago. He said his mission needed to be completed in Ireland and would Marlena help him get there.

Steve visited Kayla at the hospital, distraught over Stephanie's reveal that she was raped.
Bo and Hope went over their Ireland plans with Abe. Abe worried that Brady might have been kidnapped by the same people who snatched Claire. Abe told Hope she'd have to have a physical to get reinstated. She said she'd swing by the hospital on the way to the airport and see Kayla. Abe told Bo he was due for his, too. "It's bad luck to see a doctor when you're not sick," Brady groused. The duo headed out. At the hospital, they asked Kayla to give them their physicals, but Bo said he didn't want Kayla doing his, so she got someone to take care of Bo — Lexie. Once in the cubicle, Hope noted that Kayla seemed distracted. She admitted she was worried about Steve and told her sister-in-law about Steph's rape. In the other cubicle, Lexie revealed to Bo that she was up for the Chief of Staff position.
Steve ran into Crawford Decker in the waiting room and they squared off over the Ford/Stephanie/Chelsea situation. The conversation turned emotional when Decker said he just wanted his son's body back to bury him. Steve accused Decker of being a bad father for not recognizing what a louse his son was. Crawford countered that the girls would pay for what they did. "You have no idea who you're dealing with," Steve whispered. "Neither do you," Decker replied.
A flirty Tony and Anna dined at the Brady Pub. Tony was about to say something important when Caroline came over and interrupted. He asked what they missed while they were traveling abroad. She told them about Claire's kidnapping. Tony assumed Stefano was behind it, but Caroline said Bo and Roman don't think he has anything to do with it. Once alone, Tony told Anna he doubted Stefano was innocent. Anna asked what his surprise was. After a build up that sounded like he was about to propose, he told her he bought an advertising company. She was disappointed. He asked her why. "If I did, I'd have to explain what I was expecting," she said. "Ah, and what were you expecting?" he asked. "Well, if you don't know. I'm not about to tell you," she huffed and went to the bar, leaving a confused Tony behind. He approached her, still trying to determine what upset her. He thought it was because he didn't consult her, but she said that wasn't it and wished him well. She went outside. He tried to get through to her, saying all the romantic things he should, but one of his new employees appeared and chatted him up. Tony gave the eager beaver an assignment. Anna went inside and unloaded on Caroline, admitting she thought Tony was going to propose but instead bought an ad agency. Caroline told her about two ad men who had been in the pub, talking about how they were looking for an account executive. She suggested Anna go after the job to give Tony some competition. Tony came back inside and Anna dumped him. He still had no idea what he did and she wouldn't say anything, other than to tell him that she was not a woman to be trifled with.
At the hospital, Roman asked what happened to Stefano. The cop said it appeared he had a stroke. Roman asked who visited with him prior to it. "Dr. Marlena Evans," the officer replied. Roman went to find her while the doctor assigned to Stefano's case ordered a battery of tests to determine what happened. Nothing turned up on the CAT scan or MRI, but the doctor said they'd have to check the blood tests.
Marlena told John she'd help him escape from the hospital, as long as they did things her way. He made her a promise: "I swear to you on this love that you say we share, that I won't hurt you or anybody else, as long as you keep helping me." Roman came in and asked to speak to Marlena privately. They left the room. He asked her what happened at the jail. She said she gave Stefano a truth serum. Roman wasn't so sure. "Roman, if you're accusing me, go ahead and do it," she snapped. He backed off.
Roman returned to Stefano's room and learned that he lapsed into a coma. Marlena sneaked into the records room to change Stefano's blood tests. "Oh, Sami," she said to herself, "Every time you changed the blood-test results, you got caught. You know why? Because you were not a doctor. And you didn't know how to get away with it." After, she loaded her medicine bag with syringes and drugs, with the intention of keeping John in line. She went back to John's room and he asked her how she planned to get him out of the hospital. She said she was more concerned with getting him out of the country. She told him he had a private jet and that she had already called the pilot. "He's gonna have to file a flight plan," John noted. "Wow. Funny what you've forgotten and what you remember," she remarked. She undid his cuffs and gave him scrubs to change into. He told her he was getting more and more impressed with her. Outside of John's room, Marlena sassed a nurse to get rid of her. She then called Dr. Carrington and told him that she was rude to Carla, the nurse and to give her a week off with pay. John and Marlena made it to the airport successfully.
Abe came to the hospital and officially gave Hope her badge back. She was thrilled. Abe then reminded the Bradys that they had no jurisdiction in Ireland and needed to work with Interpol. "No hotdogging," he warned them. They took off. Lexie was overjoyed to be named Chief of Staff. Before she could tell Abe, a nurse fetched her to tell her about Stefano. She headed to his room.

Billie met with Chelsea, Stephanie, Cordy and Morgan at the police station. Stephanie called Max, who said he wouldn't reveal the location of the body. Roman announced that the DA signed an arrest warrant for Chelsea, who would be charged in the murder of Ford Decker. Steph defended Chelsea, prompting Craw-ford to call her a slut. Roman pulled Decker aside and threatened to throw him in jail if he didn't pipe down. Chelsea cried that it was an accident. Decker said he believes Chelsea pushed him down the stairs. Cordy and Steph spoke up, insisting that Ford was going to rape Chelsea like he did them. Roman advised Chelsea to get legal counsel. Billie offered a compromise: Chelsea pleads not guilty and the charges are dropped in return for them producing Ford's body. "No deal," replied Decker, who added that he had connections and that the girls were going to prison. Steph declared that if he took them to trial, she would air Ford's dirty laundry. "I'm going to tell the world how your son raped me. Is that what you want people whispering about at Ford's eulogy? You might as well chisel into his gravestone. 'Ford Decker: Rapist.' " Cordy chimed in that she'd tell every sordid detail, too. Craw-ford eventually agreed to their deal and demanded to know where Ford's body was. Max entered and admitted that he was the one who took it away.
Aboard the Kiriakis jet, Shawn and Philip bickered. Chloe and Belle told them to knock it out. Chloe hoped they'd find Brady in Ireland. Belle asked Shawn why he was staring at her, then asked to speak to him privately. She tried to explain why she slept with Philip, insisting it was a mistake and that she loved Shawn only. Chloe noticed that Philip was visibly upset by Belle's words and took him to the back of the plane so he couldn't hear what Shawn and Belle were saying. Shawn let down his guard. "I love you and you know that, but I can't just buy into everything I'm saying. Believe me, I want to. But how am I supposed to trust you anymore?" he asked. She tried to convince him that she cared for him. Chloe and Philip rejoined them. Shawn and Philip hashed out their problems, as did Belle and Chloe. Philip admitted to Shawn that he wanted his friend back. "Belle belongs with you," he insisted. They shook hands and called a truce. At the same time, Chloe confided to Belle that she wasn't interested in Shawn because she wanted to reunite with Brady.
In Ireland, Bo and Hope playfully bickered over his driving. She thought they were lost. Bo said he was worried about Chelsea. Hope admitted she was, too, but felt everything would be okay. Hope took the wheel so Bo could navigate. He told her she had the map upside down. Bo got a call from the New Ross police, who told him that they lost Crystal's trail. A romantic Bo stared at his wife. "You know, there's not many guys who get to look at their wives who've been together as long as you and I have, and I still see the girl that I first fell in love with," he smiled, then told her he loved her. (Cue the awesome Bo/Hope flashbacks!) They pulled over to ask about Claire. Bo said he found a guy who saw a woman carrying Claire into a B&B down the road.
John and Marlena arrived at the St. Obbin B&B (which looked a whole lot like the Brady Pub in Salem). John said he could feel his target was nearby and called out, but nobody appeared. John said he would check out the back. Marlena said she'd go with him, reminding him that he wasn't leaving her sight. Two men appeared. Marlena told them they needed a room, but the men claimed the B&B was full. John said he wanted to look around. Marlena urged him to leave with her, then left her cell phone number with the men. The Blacks left the B&B, then sneaked back in once the guys left and headed upstairs. John spied a knife on a room service tray. They stopped at a door. Marlena asked John if he was going to kill anyone or had a weapon. He said no, and told her to search him. She moved her hands over his body, clearly affected by touching him. He then pocketed the knife.
Bo and Hope entered the B&B. Bo's cell rang. It was Shawn, so he gave it to Hope, who updated her son about their Claire search. He asked what town they were in. "New Ross," she replied. Philip had a limo waiting to take them there. Hope also told Shawn about the B&B. Bo then got on the line and promised his son that they'd bring Claire home. The men from earlier came in. Bo asked if they knew a woman named Crystal. At that moment, Crystal came down the stairs and told them it was "too late." Upstairs, John and Marlena entered the room and found a woman knitting.

Tony came to the Brady Pub, where he found Anna doing busy work. He asked what she was up to. "Preparing for a job interview," she said. He laughed. She chastised him for not taking her seriously. "I used to run a very successful business, Tony," she reminded him. He pointed out that she wasn't the brains behind that operation. Anna was beyond peeved. Tony got a call to come to the hospital to see Lexie. He left. Anna called about the job interview at the ad agency Caroline told her about.
Sami and EJ cared for the babies in the safe house. Her cell phone rang; it was the DA, telling her that Lucas's trial date has been set and she was expected to testify. EJ consoled her and promised to be there for her.
In Stefano's room, Lexie tried to get through to her comatose father. Roman came in and asked if she knew what caused the stroke. She said none of the tests showed indication of a stroke and no drugs or toxins were present in his blood. She told him that she felt he was trying to tell her something important.
Steve ran into Roman in the hospital about the Decker case, but Roman couldn't give him any info. Adrienne called Steve and asked her brother to meet her at the Pub. He headed out to meet her. She gave him a big hug, then revealed she was leaving town. "Justin, the boys and I are moving and leaving Salem," she told him. He asked why. She said Justin was miserable in Salem and had gotten a job offer halfway across the world and that she had to go with him. She would ask Max to run the Cheatin' Heart in her absence. The sibs shared a touching farewell.
In Ireland, Belle, Shawn, Philip and Chloe arrived at the B&B, while Bo and Hope poked around upstairs. The Irish men came in, as did Crystal. Belle demanded to know where Claire is. Shawn insisted Crystal take them to their dauhter but she said she couldn't. She sent them upstairs.
John and Marlena were surprised to see the woman in the room, who was a very much alive Colleen Brady. Bo and Hope entered the room and asked what the Blacks were doing there. Bo asked who the woman is. They all realized who it was and were stunned that she was alive. Shawn, Belle, Chloe and Philip came in, asking about Claire. Colleen insisted she was safe.
Roman called EJ at the safe house and told him Lexie needed to see him at the hospital and he was sending a police escort. Tony and EJ arrived together and got the lowdown on Stefano. Lexie told him the prognosis wasn't good. Lexie said she needed their help in deciding what to do with their father. The three surrounded his bed, as Stefano listened to their debating, shouting in his head that he loved them and needed them to do the right thing. Tony stood over him and said, "When I look down on you like this and see you lying there so helplessly, you know what I feel? I don't feel pity, not compassion, not hate, no anger. Certainly not love. No. Truth is, I feel nothing." EJ was next, "You turned what I had with Samantha into something cold, something heartless. Because of you, I forced myself on her. I mean, that's something I have to live with for the rest of my life. Because of you, the woman that I love will never love me. She will never trust me because of you." Lexie concluded with, "You nearly cost me my marriage and every friend I had in Salem when you switched my baby with Hope's all those years ago. You almost cost me my sanity when you held me captive in that tunnel for months," she told him. After more deliberating, the sibs agreed that the world would be a better place without Stefano. Tony kissed him and told him to rot in hell. "You son of a bitch," Stefano said in his head. Once they all agreed on a decision and left, Stefano opened his eyes and screamed "Nooo!" in his head.
Steve returned to the hospital and reported to Roman that Adrienne and co were leaving town. Roman filled him in on what was going on with the DiMera crew, then told Steve he needed to speak to Kayla about another medical matter. After hearing Roman out, Steve said he'd take care of it and that he and Kayla would catch the next plane to Ireland.

At the B&B in Ireland, the Salem lot was in disbelief as Colleen Brady explained how she faked her death to get away from Santo. "By faking my death, I gave Santo back his life. I left Santo so he could honor his marriage vows with his wife." Colleen told them that she changed her name, moved to another part of Ireland and became a seamstress. Later on, she moved to South America because the risk of discovery was too great. Then Colleen asked for forgiveness for taking something from them. She called Crystal, who came in with — Claire! As Marlena, Bo, Hope, Shawn, Chloe and Philip celebrated the child's return, John glowered at Colleen and slid a knife from under his sleeve. He concealed it when Marlena walked over and to him. Bo stormed up to Colleen and confronted her over the kidnapping. She protested that she did it to protect the child from Stefano. "If we hadn't come here looking for her, would we ever have seen her again?" asked Hope. A defiant Colleen said she was only helping, just like she'd tried to protect Brady Black. Chloe's jaw dropped.
Stephanie, Max, Chelsea and Nick dropped into the Brady Pub for coffee. The girls were grateful to Max for stepping forward and admitting that he buried Ford's body in exchange for Mr. Decker not pressing charges against the girls. Still, they worried about what Crawford would do to Max. Chelsea expressed regrets about going to the authorities with the truth, but Nick said she did the right thing. Mr. Decker walked in. He announced that he'd just come from the morgue and it was "sickening." When Decker said that his son's body was "broken and defiled," Max took him to task. "You want to talk about 'broken and defiled'? I'll give you 'broken and defiled.' Do you ever take account of how many girls whose bodies and hearts and souls have been broken and defiled by him? Have you taken in account all the girls he tried to break and defile, huh?" Glowering at Chelsea, Mr. Decker warned: "I'm going to the D.A. I'm gonna have him press full charges against you, no matter the outcome of the autopsy. May you rot in hell for what you did." Chelsea brushed off Nick's attempts to comfort her. Billie arrived with Kate, who said she knows how to help Chelsea and asked her to come with her. Kate took Chelsea to Victor and filled him in on the Ford Decker situation. Victor made one phone call and announced. "Consider the matter taken care of." Chelsea was in awe and asked her grandfather what he does for a living. He simply said he was a businessman. Chelsea asked her gramps if he'd also help Max, but Victor said he doesn't have much pull at the police department. However, he added: "If Max is charged, I don't think he'll get more than a slap on the wrist, but keep me informed." .... After a sullen Nick left the pub, Stephanie and Max stayed behind to talk. Chelsea returned with Billie and filled them in on what Victor had done, adding that Max will still have to talk to the cops.
Sami paced the safe house with a wailing Allie in her arms. She hoped that the baby didn't have the flu. Lucas phoned from jail and heard the baby crying. He asked what was wrong, but Sami said it didn't matter since he can't help her. She lashed out at him, saying, "You can't even be there for your children because ... because of me ... because of something stupid you did for me. How do you think that that makes me feel? You want to know, Lucas Horton? It makes me feel like I want to hate you!." As she railed at him, she didn't notice that EJ had returned home and was listening to the whole conversation. After Sami admitted that she loves Lucas, he suggested that if he confesses, he won't be in jail forever. Sami spotted EJ and quickly hung up. EJ said he had news, Stefano is no longer a threat because he's in a coma. Afterward, Lucas walked into Roman's office and stunned Roman and Abe by confessing to shooting EJ. He hoped that the judge would be lenient and he'd get out early for good behavior.... Back at the safe house, EJ told Sami he regretted following in his father's footsteps and "could be a better man" for Sami and the children. After EJ said they could go home, the phone rang, it was Lucas, who asked Sami to visit him and bring Allie so that he can say good-bye.
Victor summoned Crawford Decker to talk about "a misunderstanding".... Chloe asked Colleen where Brady is, but Colleen said she didn't know because he disappeared before she could bring him to Ireland "for safekeeping."... Philip comforted a weeping Chloe.... John revealed his knife again.
