A frantic Elizabeth called Nikolas over to the apartment. She found Lucky's pills and was upset that Lucky was still using. Nik and Liz agreed that he had to get into rehab now. Then, Liz told Nik that she was leaving her hubby.

At the hospital, Sonny told Sam and Ric in no uncertain terms that there was no way in hell he'd let Ric raise Kristina. He said he lied to placate Alexis. Sam pleaded with Sonny to keep Kristina where she was, at least for now. Sonny relented.

When Jax and Carly had a heart-to-heart about his leaving, Carly softened. "I need you Carly and I don't want to waste anymore time," Jax pledged. Carly advised Jax not to act rashly since he was upset about losing his friend, Alexis. Just then Sonny arrived and demanded to speak to his ex-wife. Jax agreed to give them time alone and left. Sonny, citing that Alexis was the only thing keeping Ric honest, told Carly that since Alexis is now comatose, he's determined to get Kristina away from Ric — tonight. Carly advised him to wait.

Maxie coerced Lucky up to her room with the bait of more pills, then played on his guilt about using her for drugs. Lucky gave in and post-sex, he lamented to Maxie about Lulu's choice to abort her baby. Just then, Nikolas kicked in the door and exclaimed to his doped-up brother, "You're a damn fool!" Nik told Lucky that Liz is leaving him tonight, but Lucky refused to believe it. "We took vows, for better or for worse," he pointed out in his stupor.

Dillon asked Luke if he could speak with Lulu before she went to her appointment at the clinic. He apologized for being horrible to her. Lulu was appreciative, and they both wished they could go back in time. Just then, Tracy returned home, furious that she'd been traipsing all over Europe looking for Luke. She told Luke that, ironically, she was envious of Lulu for having a supportive father during this dire predicament. Luke expressed his gratitude to Tracy for being kind to his daughter during the crisis, and being open with her about once having had an abortion.

At the lakehouse, Sam told Ric that he needs to get his act together if he's going to parent those two little girls. Sam threatened that if Ric doesn't back away from her, she'd advise Sonny to take Kristina and tell Nikolas to file for emergency custody of Molly. As they argued, Sonny entered, demanding to see Kristina.

At the Q manse, Edward told Dillon that he was proud of the way his grandson carried himself during this trying time. Luke drove Lulu to the clinic, where Lulu stood firm in her resolve. He was proud of her strength, but wished there was more he could do. Lulu sent him to be with her mother during the appointment.

As Elizabeth packed to leave the apartment, she took her wedding picture and hurled it against the wall, smashing the frame to bits. Lucky returned home, grabbed Liz and told him there's no way he'd ever let her leave him.... Luke visited Laura and bemoaned his daughters dilemma.... Jax returned to Carly's and, once again, just as they were about to kiss, Michael interrupted.

As the time of Lulu's appointment rolled around, a musical montage kicked in: The Q's were heartbroken; Sonny played with Kristina as Jax and Carly wrestled with the boys; Luke sat with Laura and looked at family photos; As Lucky threatened Liz, she took off her wedding ring and threw it away. He shook her and she fell to the floor.

During his session with Lainey, Sonny declared that Carly and Jax will never work out. "I know the way Jax operates," Sonny fumed. "All he cares about is having a beautiful woman on his arm. He's got no depth."

"I've made my decision and now I just have to go through with it," Lulu sobbed to her dad. Lucky showed up and tried to convince his sister not to go through with the abortion. Luke became angry when Lucky pointed out that Laura would never approve. "Take another handful of pills," Luke spat and ordered his son to get lost. After Lucky bolted, Luke continued to offer support to Lulu as she regretted the lies that got her into trouble. Dad praised her for taking charge.

Michael expressed disapproval over his mom's relationship with Jax. "Do you have to kiss her?" whined the boy. He then secretly called Sonny and asked his dad to come over. Jax received an urgent call about Alexis and headed over to the hospital. Sonny arrived and wanted to talk to Michael but Carly told her ex that it would have to wait because Alexis is in the hospital. Sonny lamented about going against a dying mother's wishes by separating Kristina and Molly. "I will not let Ric raise my daughter," Sonny vowed and Carly said she would help him any way she could.

Kelly assumed a nauseated Liz was pregnant by Patrick, but the expectant mom confided that Jason is the responsible party. Liz was stressed out by her situation and Kelly advised her to take it easy for the baby's sake. Lucky heard the doc's comment but assumed she meant Cameron. Lucky groused that his sister wouldn't listen to him and asked Liz to intervene. She said she it wasn't her business and Lucky stormed away.

Alexis explained her drastic treatment to Ric and Sam. "Promise me right now that you're going to provide a family for Kristina and Molly," she implored. "I'm counting on both of you to make this okay." Ric and Sam agreed, then left to retrieve Kris and Molly. Nikolas and Jax dropped by at different times to share a warm moment with Alexis. Ric eventually returned with her daughters and Alexis kissed them good-bye. After, Ric escorted them out of the room, Sonny showed up. Alexis broke down in tears and asked Sonny to promise that he'll allow Ric and Sam to care for her children. "I promise," Sonny mumbled, but after Alexis's coma was induced, he announced to Ric and Sam that he was taking Kristina home.

Sam left a tender voicemail message for Jason. Liz overheard and asked if Jason and Sam were back together. Sam confirmed it but asked Liz to keep the reconciliation a secret. "I just want you to know that I love him," Sam admitted and Liz assured that she and Jason are just pals. Liz found Lulu and Luke and apologized for Lucky's outburst. "I told him it was your choice," Liz told her sister-in-law. Luke suggested that Lulu delay her appointment, but she was determined to keep it. Meanwhile, Maxie met up with Lucky and said she had pills for him back at "our room." At that moment, Liz came home and found a pill on the floor.

At Metro Court, Carly was furious that Jax sold off their hotel interests in Albany. He told her to relax — they made a bundle. She didn't relax.

At the hospital, Alexis asked Sam why Sonny would have provoked Ric the way he did at the mayor's cocktail party the night before. She was furious with Sonny's behavior and broke into another coughing spell. "Dammit, I need you all to get along," she shouted to her daughter. Later, Lainey had a counseling session with Alexis, who admitted that if Sam and Ric did start up a relationship, she'd hate it. But, she's just trying to look out for her girls in the event of her own demise — that's why she's pushing for them to be together. Alexis then detailed her rocky relationship with Sam, stating that she loves her firstborn but she doesn't like her very much. She admitted that she does love Ric, too, but she's tired of the people in her life who keep disappointing her. She did praise Sam, though, for sticking by her since her cancer diagnosis.

On the docks, Ric was furious with his brother, but Sonny made his intentions clear: Stay away from Sam. Ric said that wasn't his choice — it was Alexis's. Sonny ordered Ric to keep his distance from Jason's girl, or else a sacrifice would need to be made. And, it wouldn't be Sam. "You do the math," Sonny advised.

At the Quartermaines, Georgie found Dillon cleaning out the boathouse. He informed Georgie about Lulu's decision to have an abortion. Dillon blamed Luke for Lulu's decision, but reluctantly admitted that he was relieved. Georgie brought Dillon some iced tea and reminded her first love that everyone makes mistakes. "Who I am and who I think I am are miles apart," he sighed. Then, he thanked Georgie for listening.

A confused Sam asked Nikolas to meet her at Metro Court. She confided that Ric is not suitable father material to raise Kristina and Molly. She asked Nik to speak to Alexis about him being the girls guardian instead of Ric. Nik said there's no way the fathers would go for that. Ric arrived and Nik noticed the tension between Sam and her stepfather. After Ric left, Nik demanded to know what Ric has done. Sam didn't spill the beans.

Sonny returned home to find the boys playing with Max. He was surprised to hear that Carly had the boys dropped off because she and Jax had to work. As the evening proceeded, Carly kept on prodding Jax about the sale of the Albany hotel. Jax changed gears and apologized for not contacting her while he was away. "I don't mind working to earn your trust again," Jax smiled. Just as they were about to kiss, Sonny entered with the boys. Carly was agitated that he'd interrupted their meeting. "Meeting? In that dress?" Sonny asked. He said he had a therapy session scheduled with Lainey so he couldn't watch the kids. "Next time, just give me a little notice," he advised.

Ric met with Alcazar to accept his proposal about teaming up against Sonny and Jason. Ric advised Alcazar that Jason be taken out first, and said he knows how to exploit Jason's biggest weakness — Sam.... Alexis was examined by her oncologist, who let her know they wouldn't be able to begin her chemotherapy as soon as he had hoped. She's got pneumonia.... When Sonny told Lainey about having to take the kids to Carly's, she immediately saw through his story and saw his animosity for Jax. "If carly and Jax are really were in love, what would you do?" Lainey queried.

At the mayor's cocktail party, Sam and her date for the night (orchestrated by Alexis) Ric fought and she flipped at his suggestion that their sex romp was enjoyable for her. She pulled a knife on her stepfather, but Carly came along and calmly disarmed Sam.

Maxie got snippy with Elizabeth, claiming that she knows Lucky better than Liz. Lucky arrived in time to hear Maxie call his wife "frigid." He read his lover/pusher the riot act and declared that they are finished.

Mayor Floyd asked Ric to take on the D.A. job permanently. "An alliance between us could be beneficial," the mayor smiled. Just then, Sonny approached the twosome to remind the mayor and the press of Ric's family background. Afterward, Sonny ordered Ric to lay off Sam and he retaliated by saying his brother had better watch his own back.

Meanwhile, Jax flirted with Carly but she was concerned about his being around to the long haul. Jax gave Carly the heart-shaped diamond brooch, saying that she needed to give it back to him once he'd won her heart. They sealed the deal with a kiss.

Nikolas and Emily rushed Alfred to the hospital. He was in stable condition, and the doctors thought he had a heart attack. Colleen, who poisoned Al in yesterday's episode, called and checked up on Alfred's condition, then faked tears about the situation. While at the hospital, Emily stopped in to see Alexis. As a cancer survivor herself, she gave Alexis a much-needed pep talk. Nikolas entered and Alexis watched the chemistry between the two.

At the Quartermaine mansion, Dillon and Lulu fought over her decision to have an abortion. Luke stood by his daughter against the Quartermaines. Dillon accused Lulu of being a "selfish bitch" and Edward phoned Lucky to keep him in the loop. Lucky and Elizabeth left the gala and headed to the Q's. As Liz comforted an emotional Lulu, Lucky laid into Luke for supporting Lulu's choice. Nikolas arrived and sided with his sister, causing Lucky to storm out. Lulu fainted after the fracas. When she came to, she thanked her dad for standing up for her. Luke assured his little girl that he wasn't going anywhere.

Lucky met Maxie on the docks and demanded more pills. He said he'd leave Liz but on his own time-table. Maxie gave him enough for 24 hours, then said he'd get more after he slept with her.

Emily kept Nikolas's cufflink, while he fondled the scarf she let behind.... Sonny assured Sam that Ric would not be a threat to her.

Lulu had a nightmare in which she was the mother of an angry teenage daughter, who criticized her mom's parenting skills. Dream Daughter rejected Lulu's birthday present, and blasted her mom for missing so many of her other birthdays. Lulu awoke with a start. She told Luke about the nightmare. He gently noted that she's the only one who can decide what to do about her pregnancy. Right on cue (or is that Q?), Dillon showed up and announced that he'd come up with a solution. After warning Dillon not to twist Lulu's arm, Luke left them alone. ("You're not the husband here, young Polanski," Luke huffed. "You're the sperm donor!") Dillon's idea was to tell their child that Lulu had died. Of course, Lulu balked, but Dillon insisted that lying to the child is better than aborting it. Confused, lulu went to see Laura and begged for guidance. Lulu broke down in tears and luke showed up to console her.

While on her shift at the hospital, Elizabeth made a call about her suspected pregnancy and noted that she doesn't want Lucky to find out yet. Speak of the devil, Lucky showed up and let her know that they were invited to the mayor's charity cocktail party at Metro Court. Liz questioned the wisdom of a drug addict attending a party with alcohol, but Lucky insisted that the party is important to his career.

Jax visited Alexis at the hospital. She grabbed the gift bag he was carrying and opened it. The "gift" turned out to be a diamond brooch, which Alexis realized wasn't for her. Alexis warned Jax against getting involved with Carly again. He stressed that Carly was not the reason he left town — it was the loss of little John. Alexis said that just because Carly's good in a crisis, it doesn't mean that translates to day-to-day life. "I don't want to see Jax mow you down," insisted Carly.

At Casa de Corinthos, Sonny was trash-talking, "Candy Boy" Jax to a miffed Carly. She huffed that she doesn't need a man and that Sonny's jealous. He stated that he's just worried about her having another breakdown. The argument drifted from them to Ric, as Carly said to Sonny that they must tell Alexis about Ric and Sam's tryst.

At Metro Court, Sam brought a file of crime statistics to the mayor. Surprise! P.C. was deemed a violent town. The mayor asked Sam how Alexis was doing, then mentioned that Ric had stated Sam was going to be his escort for the evening. She cringed. Mayor Floyd reiterated that for appearance sake, he's really glad that she's not seeing Jason any more.

As Ric arrived at the hospital to see Alexis, Jax left. Sam, who was all dressed up to take Alexis's place at the mayor's cocktail party, arrived. Alexis took note as Ric complimented Sam's outfit. Alexis asked Ric for a favor: Make Sam a "priority" tonight.

At Wyndemere, Alfred caught Colleen eavesdropping on Nikolas and Emily's conversation, and the proper gentleman chastised the nosy nanny. Despite her weak claim that she wasn't snooping, the butler called Colleen on her hostility toward Em. He threatened to take care of matters if her behavior doesn't improve but she denied any ulterior interests in their boss. Afterward, Alfred reminded Nik to get ready for the party, and delivered the surprising news that he'd taken the liberty of ordering a party dress for Em. Then, Alfred said there's something of a more serious nature to discuss. Colleen tried to sabotage their talk, but Alfred didn't give her up. Afterward, Colleen got a giggle putting on Nik's cufflinks. Em arrived and stepped up to the task. When Nik suggested they all have a toast, Colleen slipped a mickey into Alfred's glass. Shortly after, Alfred collapsed. Em thought he was having heart attack.

Sam ran into Jax as he was leaving Alexis's room. He asked if she'd spoken to the oncologist. Sam said it wasn't looking very good. Jax credited Alexis's high spirits to Sam. When Sam arrived at her mother's room, Alexis told Sam how pretty she looked and sent the two of them off to the function. Once there, Sam told Ric that they may be in the same room, but they're not "together."

A distraught Liz almost opened up to Lucky about the surprise pregnancy, until Maxie arrived on Mac's arm. As Maxie strutted by them, Elizabeth was angry and Lucky was embarrassed. Lucky felt guilty, as folks kept thanking him for killing Manny, event though he really didn't. As Maxie remained coy, Lucky was curious when Liz refused to down an alcoholic beverage. Maxie and Lucky had a moment alone, where she said she can't wait to move in with him.

Jax gave the mayor a sizeable contribution. Jax was elated to see Carly arrive. Carly walked right up to the mayor and told him to dump Ric from the D.A. slot. She blabbed about the whole panic room incident but the mayor didn't believe her story. Jax told the mayor to apologize to Carly or he'd take back his contribution. Floyd's no dummy so he said he was sorry.... In order to get more pills, Lucky strung Maxie along. However, she threatened to tell Liz that Lucky's still using.... Sonny went to see Alexis in the hospital.... On the Metro Court balcony, Ric and Sam's conversation got heated. He grabbed Sam by the arm — she retaliated by pulling a knife on him.
