GH Recaps Week of September 18, 2006

Friday, September 22, 2006
Maxie was determined to make a Great Escape from Mercy Hospital when she passed clean out from cardiac arrest. Cue the crash cart. Over at GH, Liz got a bit prickly at a doctor prescribing pain medication and Epiphany told her to chill out. The Mercy doctor blasted Lucky and Diego for leaving out Maxie's medical history when they brought her in. Maxie viewed her overdose as a chance for her and Lucky to start over. "You would've died for nothing," he told her. "I don't love you and we're never going to be together." Maxie couldn't understand why pills-for-sex didn't equal true love. Lucky copped to his faults and asked Maxie to "get on with her life." She wasn't pleased. "Some day, you're going to be sorry," the bunny boiling ex-Belle promised, calling him "a liar and a user." Her former stalker, Diego, came in to boot Lucky out and comfort his ex-victim. In the hall, Lucky fingered his drugs and hit up Maxie's doctor for a refill. Maxie thanked her ex-stalker for taking nudie pictures for being so nice to her and, once alone, she called Mac and pleaded for help.

At Casa Corinthos, Jason caught Max with car parts. "I'm following the boss' orders!" Max defended, admitting the whole scheme and his feelings for Carly, to boot. At the hotel, Sonny claimed that he was concerned about the kids (but we all knew better). "You think I enjoy chasing you all the way across town?" he scoffed. "Yes," Carly spit back. "You have too much time on your hands. You don't want me...and you don't want anyone else to have me." Sonny said Jax would break her heart. Jax walked in, disagreeing, "That would be your specialty." Carly quickly shooed her "juvenile" ex out. At Sonny's, Jason couldn't help but laugh as Max begged him to keep Sonny and Carly apart and spare him the torment of seeing her every day. Jax and Carly tried to move past the Sonny interruption. When Sonny came home, he found Max drinking scotch and was jealous that he couldn't hit the bottle himself. "Don't let Sonny undermine your progress," Jax warned Carly. Don't worry, Carly had one of her famous Plans. She told him it only involved "one phone call." Sonny tried the "I'm worried about the kids" excuse with Jason, assuring him that he wouldn't fall for Carly again (Jason, and the rest of us, have heard this before). Thankfully, mid-argument, Liz called Jason to come be with Sam. Carly's one phone call? Lainey. "Now she's trying to turn this thing on me!" Sonny cried to his therapist. Then, a legit disaster in the form of Carly's house flooding gave Sonny the upper hand again. Sonny sent poor Max to interrupt Jax and Carly's giggly makeout session. Carly jerked open the door and let poor Max have it. She refused to believe her house was flooding (It was. We saw it.) Lainey talked to the kids about Jax. Michael, who'd been a Jax fan last week, was suddenly rooting for a Sonny and Carly reunion. Uh-oh. And Sonny knew exactly where Carly could stay since her own place was flooded: Casa Corinthos. Double uh-oh!

On the pier, Jason and Sam decided to start over. Of course, that's when Liz called with news: Alexis is getting worse. At GH, Robin and Patrick updated both Sam and Nikolas on Alexis. Her lung had collapsed and her prognosis was grim. Ric was out of reach but the surgery was unavoidable. The two neurologists (where's Dr. Tuvok from STAR TREK: VOYAGER?) needed Sam to sign the release. She refused so Nikolas did. And then Nik and Sam discussed living situations for Kristina and Molly. He wasn't about to take the girls away from their fathers after what he went through with Spencer, but "What if the girls were to stay with you?" Visitation with Sonny and Ric could be worked out. But if she did this, warned Nikolas, "you have to end your relationship with Jason." Later, bed-ridden Alfred thoughtfully sent Emily to hang out with Nikolas in the lounge while Liz sent Jason looking for Sam, who was on the roof angsting alone. Nikolas and Emily bonded (with big "reunion" anvils) as Lucky came by and got into a tangle with Liz over his shiny new pills. "What's the real reason you want to end our marriage?" he demanded...as the camera panned to Jason on the roof. Jason and Sam hashed things out, both getting teary over the prospect of breaking up (again).

Lainey asked Sonny why he wants to wreck Carly's relationship with Jax. Sonny said if he doesn't then Jax will leave Carly in much worse shape. Sonny asked Lainey how well she knows Jax. Lainey suggested he seems like the perfect gentlemen. Sonny suggested that Jax always wants to be with the same women he's with. Lainey said if Sonny isn't in competition with Jax then why not let Jax and Carly be. Sonny said he needs to take care of the mother of his children because Jax ultimately hurts the women he's with. Lainey suggested that Sonny may have ulterior motives, and asked Sonny if this is his roundabout way of trying to win Carly back. Lainey declared that Sonny feels threatened by Jax because he's the one man who could take Carly away from him for good.

Carly insisted to Jax that her wanting to spend the night with him had nothing to do with Sonny. Carly told Jax to shut up and kiss her. After kissing Jax pulled away and said he doesn't want to go down the same road again. Jax told Carly he wants a real and meaningful relationship. After expressing their concerns and worries, Jax and Carly cleared the air and reached a new understanding. Jax and Carly planned to meet at the hotel later. Carly got dressed up and ready for her rendezvous with Jax. As she prepared to leave Sonny returned with a pizza and told her it's "family time." Carly accused Sonny of trying to interfere in her personal life. Carly declared his efforts are futile because he no longer has any power over her. Sonny stepped in her path and confidently asked her if she is sure about that. Carly rebuffed him and told him she has to go. Sonny returned and complained about Jax to Max, and asked Max to take care of Jax. Carly got to the hotel room and called Jax on his cell. Jax was in the car, on his way. Jax's car stalled out — Max had sabotaged it. When Carly heard a knock on the hotel room door, she opened it expecting to see Jax, only to have Sonny greet her and invite himself into the room.

Lucky tried to get Maxie to come to. Diego entered and offered to call 911 but Lucky said no. Diego insisted that Maxie needs a doctor. Lucky decided to take her to Mercy Hospital instead, and asked Diego to grab some pills so they'd know what she took and to follow him there. At Mercy, the doctor told Lucky that he brought Maxie to the ER in the nick of time. Diego caught Lucky taking one of Maxie's pills and confronted him. Lucky told Diego that he's concerned Maxie's overdose wasn't accidental because he just told her he was getting back with Elizabeth. The doctor told Lucky that Maxie would be okay. When Maxie came to, Lucky told her she was at Mercy because she ODd. Maxie said she just wanted to shut down for a while. Maxie couldn't remember how many pills she took. Maxie flipped when the doctor said she needed to stay overnight for observation. When Maxie got up to get dressed she collapsed and went into cardiac arrest.

Elizabeth was about to tell Jason she's pregnant when Sam approached and asked if everything is OK. Elizabeth told Sam she's just boring Jason with her marital problems. Sam offered to leave but Elizabeth said she had to get back to work anyway. When Sam took a call on her cell Jason urged Elizabeth to tell her what she had planned to. Jason reassured Elizabeth that she could trust him. Elizabeth stonewalled and expressed her concern that Lucky could get hurt in his present condition, or hurt Jason. Jason told her he could take care of himself. Alcazar materialized from the shadows. Jason sent Elizabeth on her way. Alcazar taunted Jason, and told Jason he didn't want any interference with his next shipments. Alcazar left and Sam appeared, simpering about how she missed him and their relationship. Sam's call took her to GH — it seems the nanny took Kristina to see Alexis and Kristina freaked out at her mother's condition. Epiphany reprimanded Sam for the nanny's poor judgment. Kristina ran to Sam and asked her if her mom is going to die. Sam reassured her that Alexis would be fine. Epiphany noticed how weak Elizabeth was and told her she knew about her pregnancy. Elizabeth confided that she doesn't know who the father is — it might be Jason.

Carly demanded to know how she can trust Jax. Jax said he came half-way around the world just to be with her. Jax admonished her to stop looking for reasons why they won't work out, because she won't find any. Jax insisted that people make their own luck, and recounted how she's been there for him. Carly expressed her worries about losing her mental and emotional independence if she gets too close to him. Jax interrupted Carly by kissing her. Carly said she needs some breathing room, while Jax suggested they just stick to what they know best — their lustful attraction to each other. As the two started making out on the sofa Sonny barged in. Carly was enraged and said he had no right to interrupt. Jax politely excused himself and left. Carly accused Sonny of being jealous. Sonny said she and Jax could bop around like bunnies all they wanted, he didn't care. Sonny warned Carly about the new dangers from Alcazar, and told him he's putting guards on her and the boys until things get resolved, and urged her to be more careful. Jax returned. Carly invited him to spend the night together in a room at Metro Court, but Jax turned her down, accusing her of wanting to sleep with him to make Sonny jealous. Sonny met with Lainey, who asked if Carly is a diversion, or if there's some residual attraction or interest remaining from their marriage. Lainey stressed that Carly's decision to be with Jax is her choice. Sonny said he doesn't like the idea of his kids spending time with Jax, and said he'd have to do something to break up Carly and Jax permanently.

Lucky took a handful of pills before leaving for work. Maxie arrived and told him she'd have her stuff moved in and the place cleaned up in no time. Lucky said she can't move in. Lucky said he's been lying to her and telling her what she wants to hear because he needed to get high. He told Maxie it's not her fault, it's his, and he resolved to get control of his addiction and reconcile with Elizabeth. Maxie whipped out a bag of pills and said she guessed he doesn't need these anymore. Maxie kept tempting Lucky, who angrily declared that things are over between them and ordered her to go. Maxie insisted that he really wants her and refused to let him go. Lucky said she had to before closing the door on her. Lucky began to tremble from the drugs.

At the hospital, Elizabeth talked to Kelly about her pregnancy and the possibility that it might be Jason's. Kelly asked Elizabeth if she could choose, who would she want her baby's father to be. She said Lucky, but the Lucky she used to know. Right now, Jason is the better choice. Kelly had her doubts, but Elizabeth explained that Jason is better father material than he might seem at first glance. Elizabeth checked in with Sam to see how Alexis is doing. In the locker room, Monica ran into Emily who was rushing to get changed to get to the ER. Monica asked Emily if she really wants to be a doctor. Monica reprimanded her for having a pattern of lateness at the hospital. Monica said she needs to do a better job of balancing her professional and personal lives. Em ran into Elizabeth next and learned that Liz left Lucky and is planning to divorce him. Emily told Elizabeth that she and Nikolas got him a spot in a great rehab facility. Elizabeth said great, but that doesn't change anything. Emily told Elizabeth if she divorces Lucky now then she's resigned herself to the idea that Lucky will never get himself clean. Elizabeth said she's done as much as she can for Lucky. Emily asked Elizabeth if she still loves Lucky, and warned that it might be too late to get him back if she gives up on him now. Lucky arrived the hospital looking for Elizabeth. Emily informed him she doesn't want to see him. Emily told Lucky she thinks Elizabeth is headed to the courthouse and told Lucky that she intends to file for a divorce. As Lucky began to run for the courthouse he got a phone call from Maxie, who told him she was at their "special place" and intimated that she had taken an overdose. After hanging up on Lucky she spread a bunch of pills around on the bed and popped a handful of them. Lucky arrived, knocked the door in and found an unconscious Maxie.

Jason returned home and informed Sonny that he's done everything he can to keep Alcazar at bay, but warned that the war they were hoping to avoid is coming a lot sooner than they thought. Jason said that Alcazar is becoming stronger and more powerful than ever. Sonny dismissed Alcazar's overtures. Sonny told Jason Carly's been looking for him and needs him. Jason said their focus should be on Alcazar, but Sonny said Alcazar could easily be dealt with — by a bullet through the heart. Jason paid a visit to Sam, who expressed her feelings, worries and doubts while Alexis is sick. Jason presented Sam with a gift. Jason ran into Elizabeth, who told him she just returned from the courthouse where she filed for divorce. Elizabeth rehashed how she and Lucky had argued and how he had knocked her down accidentally during the argument. Liz told him she's been waiting for Jason to come home because she has something to tell him.

In her dream Lulu woke up to find her crib overturned and her baby missing. She panicked as she heard the baby cry but could not find it. Finally she entered Laura's room and asked her mom if she saw her baby. when she looked at her mother she saw herself sitting there and freaked out. This woke up Lulu. Dillon knocked on Lulu's door to take her to college. Lulu told him she's not going to college any more. Dillon admonished Lulu to not waste the second chance to do whatever she wants with her life that her abortion gave her. Lulu bristled and told Dillon she is none of his concern and she'd be happy if she never saw him again. Dillon walked out. Georgie ran into a crying Dillon. Georgie encouraged Dillon to express his feelings without worry that it might upset Georgie. Georgie comforted and reassured Dillon. Dillon broke down in her arms. Dillon expressed how he feels like such a different person. Georgie reassured him he's still the same person and encouraged him to focus on college.

Robin and Jason consulted with Luke on Laura's case. Robin said that Laura is not a candidate for surgical therapy but might respond to an experimental drug treatment. Patrick had a more negative opinion on the drug therapy. Robin insisted there was a possibility it could improve Laura's condition. Patrick warned the medication could make her worse, and might even kill her. Robin hedged that they don't know enough either way. Luke asked to meet with the specialist before making any decisions. He said he can't put Laura or her loved ones through any more hell. Georgie suggested that Dillon should stop worrying about how Lulu's feeling and worry about how he's feeling/doing. Georgie and Dillon grew closer as Georgie talked about her first day at college. Lulu barged in and interrupted them with a cynical tirade about life and the real world. Luke asked Tracy to look after Lulu while he's out of town. Tracy exploded and admonished Luke for constantly abandoning his daughter. Tracy drew parallels between herself and Lulu, and warned Luke that leaving now will cause irreparable harm to Lulu. Lulu entered at that moment and asked Luke if was leaving. Lulu said she doesn't hate him for being away so much because he's been around when she's really needed him. Luke told Lulu how proud he was of her for how she's handled herself, and encouraged her to face the future with confidence. Luke said he's leaving to take care of something important but didn't elaborate. Lulu said he doesn't need to explain. Luke said he needs to know that he loves her. Lulu said that he proved that he loved her the moment he came back. The two shared a tearful embrace before Luke took off. Luke visited Laura and talked to her about the pros and cons of seeking experimental treatment for her. Luke cried that his memories of her are fading and he doesn't want to lose her.

Colleen told Nikolas she may know a way to help Lucky. She recalled her relationship with her boyfriend who had a drinking problem, who ended up hitting her once, and how she gathered his loved ones and staged an intervention for him. Colleen urged Nikolas to not give up on his brother no matter how bad things seem. Emily entered. The two of them discussed how best to help Lucky and whether an intervention is warranted. Emily recounted how trying to hold an intervention with Alan didn't help with his addiction. When Nikolas and Emily left the room Colleen heard Emily's pager go off in her purse and switched it off. Nikolas and Emily resolved that holding an intervention with Luke's help would be the best course of action. When Nikolas tried to reach Luke by phone Tracy told him Luke is heading out of town shortly. Monica phoned looking for Emily. Monica was angry that Emily didn't respond to her page. Emily maintained she never got one. Monica told her to come to the ER ASAP to help triage patients from a bus accident. Emily checked her pager and became suspicious when she noticed it was switched off.

At the hospital, Jax told Carly that Alexis is still in a coma. Carly asked Jax to take a break from his vigil for them. Carly brought Jax to the docks to spend time with her sons. Jax showed them how to tie knots and then took them sailing. Afterward Carly got upset and told Jax she realized she made a huge mistake. She said it's wrong for her to let her sons get attached to him when she knows whatever is going on between them is not going to last.

A haunting ballad (probably by Rie Sinclair) and a lot of anxious clockwatching accompanied Lulu's abortion appointment. But no clocks were watched at the Spencer apartment. Elizabeth removed her wedding ring and threw it at an erratic Lucky — who accidentally knocked her to the floor during their fight. Nikolas ran in, helping Liz and asking Lucky, "Do you have any idea what you could've done?" (Since he's clueless about the pregnancy, that would be a "no.") Nik whisked Elizabeth to GH for a checkup while tearful Lucky tore up a happy family photo. At GH, Kelly assured Elizabeth and Prince Bro-in-Law that she was fine and advised her to tell her hubby of her pregnancy. Instead, Elizabeth told Nikolas she had to leave Lucky. A victorious Maxie overheard. Elizabeth came home to Gram's, asking to stay there for a few nights, and then told Audrey about the addiction and Lucky's lies. She loved Lucky, but she couldn't even hold herself together (Is that what Jason's for?). Then, Lucky knocked at the door, begging to see Elizabeth. She didn't want him to scare Cameron. "I'm his father," he reminded, promising he would quit the drugs tomorrow. Liz didn't quite believe him. "Our marriage is over," she said (to the door), looking miserable. Lucky crumpled to the porch floor, sobbing. Later, he came home and found Maxie, who wanted to "hang out"...and swap pills for sex (BJ would be so proud). Elizabeth, meanwhile, went forward with plans for divorce.

At the lake house, Sonny told Kristina that Alexis was sleeping and getting medicine. He offered to have Kristina come stay over — just her, not Molly. "I wanna be with Molly," Kristina declared. Sam and Sonny were alarmed to see Krissy still so fond of "Daddy Ric." Once the tot was in bed, Sonny tried to evict Ric. "I have a baby daughter who needs me," Ric reminded. Sam tried to mediate but Sonny feared Sam would protect Kristina from Ric the same way she'd protected herself. Ric blasted Sam for her revisionist history version of their one-nighter. Sonny brought up the time Ric had made Carly believe he'd raped her (What, no Panic Room reference? Pfft!). "Don't tell me I use women. You wrote the book," Ric countered, reminding Sonny he'd actually gotten Sam pregnant. Sonny yelled at Ric to keep his voice down or risk being shut up for good (and the recapper laughed hysterically). "Think about what you're doing," Ric warned before leaving to check on Alexis. Sam questioned Sonny's Ric handling tactics, so Sonny questioned hers. "You do not get to stand there and lecture me," he warned. "If you didn't take your clothes off..." He then changed gears, saying he wanted to protect Sam, Kristina and Molly (even though she's Ric's). At GH, Ric got an update on Coma Alexis and then met with Lorenzo. Sam told Sonny she was just trying to raise the girls the way Alexis would want, even denying herself Jason in the process. (Which was okay, since Ric and Lorenzo were plotting to deny her Jason permanently!)

After Lulu's appointment, Georgie (of all people) arrived to give her a ride back to the Quartermaines. Luke kept vigil with Laura and then left to protect Lulu from the Q fallout. He ran into Robin in the hall. Ever so compassionate, Georgie even offered to stay with Lulu as she went in to the mansion. "It's over," said Lulu. "Let's just let the screaming begin now." She was a little flustered at the non-screaming from Edward, Dillon and Tracy. Edward and Tracy considered the matter concluded and went for a brandy. "How are you really?" Dillon asked once they were gone, offering her juice or a sandwich. Lulu just wanted her mom. So it was a good thing that Robin was telling Luke there was a "radical new medication" that might help Laura. She thought it was worth a shot, giving Luke her card and asking him to think about it. Luke and Tracy discussed both Lulu and Laura, and Luke deeply appreciated Tracy's support. "I'm your wife," she reminded. Later, Luke went up to Lu's room to catch up. "This family is pretty schizo," she noted of the Qs, thanking Luke for being there for her. She touched her abdomen as she talked about hoping Laura would wake up some day. "Your mother loves you," Luke told her, fiercely. "My mother might as well be dead; it'd be easier than this," Lu said, finally breaking down in tears. Luke let himself into the hall...and dialed Robin.
