GH Recaps Week of Jan. 16, 2006

Friday, January 20, 2006
Lucas showed up at Jake's and punched out the homophobe who beat him up in the park. Coleman, Jesse and Lucky broke up the fracas, and Frank pressed charges. At the PCPD, Lucky learned Frank was the instigator, and wondered aloud to Jesse about why Lucas wouldn't have already filed assault charges against his attacker. Dillon, Georgie and Maxie showed up to support Lucas, who planned to keep quiet about being bashed. After Jesse had a private talk with Lucas, stating that it was time to come out and press charges, Frank told Lucky that Lucas was gay and was making moves on him. Lucky tried to get the truth out of his cousin, but Lucas replied that the fight was over a game of pool. Jesse knew Lucas was lying, but stayed mum. At Kelly's, Mike was chatting with Bobbie about his daughter's problems. She was sympathetic, then vented about the growing distance between her and Lucas. Back at the station, Lucky was forced to let Frank go, but knew Lucas was hiding something and demanded to know what it was. Just then, Bobbie arrived and demanded to know the same thing. Finally, Lucas spilled to everyone within earshot that he is gay.

Skye caught Lulu as she was about to sneak out of the mansion. She realized the girl was attempting to head out to find her father, and tried to talk her out of it. Tracy broke up the confab and Lulu stormed out for good. Skye then chewed out Tracy, who retaliated by stating that Lulu is hardly an innocent. Skye then accused Tracy of kicking Lulu out in order to get Luke to come back to town. "Don't be so smug," she retorted. "He didn't stick around for you, either." Meanwhile Lulu went to Wyndemere and caught heartbroken Nikolas drinking and smashing things. He calmed down enough to try and talk Lulu out of tracking down Luke. "Grow up," Nik barked, though he did apologize, and he had his little sis actually had a heart-to-heart about his messed up love life. She countered by telling him about her recent visit to see their catatonic mother. They decided everything will all work out and hugged. Nik took Lulu back to the Quartermaines, where Ned asked Nik to help keep Emily and Sonny apart. Nik replied that it's none of his business and he's going to stay out of Em's life.

Jason's appearance at the courthouse broke up the sparring between Nikolas and Sonny over Emily. Sam flipped out on the stand and was dismissed, just as Jason entered. After Sonny and Jason went into he courtroom, Emily told Nikolas off, saying he needs to move on. Alexis then grilled Jason while Durant kept objecting. Jason told the court that he has seen no change in Manny. Mysteriously, Durant chose not to question Jason. Alexis then shocked the court by calling Manny to the stand. Manny's mild-mannered testimony prompted Sam to cause a scene during his testimony. Manny then spoke of Sam's attempt at entrapment, while in the hall, Sam told Jason her side of the story. Then, Manny had a dizzy spell on the stand, and the judge declared a recess. During the break, Ric told Alexis that he had doubts about Manny, and wondered if Ruiz was faking it. While Manny was alone, a shot rang out. Someone put a bullet in Manny!

When Sam taunted Manny to trap him into showing his old self, he grabbed her and slammed her against the wall, then tore her blouse. Manny threw her to the floor and grabbed her cell phone, foiling Sam's trap. Just as Ric and Alexis entered, Manny pretended that Sam was attacking him. Sam's phone recorder still worked, so she played the recording to Ric and Alexis — but it cut out just after she threatened Manny. Alexis was convinced that Sam was setting Manny up. Alexis filled in Durant on what went down, just as court reconvened.

Jax read both letters that Courtney left for he and Nikolas, then left the loft. In the park, Nik told Courtney that while he's concerned about Emily, it's Courtney he really loves. She remained aloof. Nik couldn't help but get all choked up as she questioned his devotion. He wanted to fight for their love, but she was tired of fighting. "It should be easy and comfortable, and that's not going to happen," she replied. She said good-bye and walked off. Jax caught up with Nikolas in the park and broke the news about Court leaving town. Nikolas was incredulous as Jax explained that he read both the letters and Court was breaking things off with the Cassadine heir. They exchanged words, and Jax vowed he was going to find Courtney and that Nik should back off. Nik walked away. He went to the loft, where he found Court's good-bye letter. He read it, ripped it up, and cried. Meanwhile, Court called Carly from the plane and thanked her for arranging her getaway. She begged Carly not to divulge her whereabouts and Carly complied. As Carly hung up, Jax stood behind her, demanding to know where Courtney was. She refused to say. Jax then accused Carly of wanting Nik and Emily back together so Em would leave Sonny alone. Meanwhile, Nik attempted to pump Mike for info. He said nothing. He asked Mike to relay a message: He'll give her what she wants. In South Carolina, Courtney met with the property manager, and requested privacy. As Court told the baby everything was going to be fine, a shadow loomed in the doorway. Later, Jax made his way to the hideaway and found the place a mess. Somewhere else, Court woke up, chained to a cot, where Helena greeted her.

At the Quartermaine guesthouse, Georgie made Lucas tea, and she and Dillon tried to convince Lucas to report Frank to the cops. Lucas explained how growing up in the closet made him angry and frustrated. He recounted a story about a teacher who tried to turn him straight. Then he thanked Georgie for keeping him sane. At Jake's, Jesse came in and spied Frank playing pool. The men made eye contact. They smiled at each other. Then Maxie walked in and Frank sat down with her. Frank explained that he's new in town as he flirted with Maxie. Jesse then interceded, saying Maxie was his girlfriend, and Frank walked off. Jesse was very angry with Maxie. She countered that she was worried about him. Jesse wasn't buying and was convinced she ruined his sting operation, that is, until Maxie pulled out the creep's phone number. Maxie and Jesse headed back to the guesthouse, where they fill in the gang about what happened. The phone number got them Frank's full name and address, but Lucas still refused to press charges, not wanting to come out to his parents. Without Lucas pressing charges, Frank would remain a free man. Later, Lucas showed up at Jake's and punched out Frank.

Sonny interrupted Emily and Carly's argument. "We're divorced, Carly. Free to do whatever we want to do," he reminded his ex-wife. She claimed she was there looking for Jason as he was needed at the courthouse, then stormed out. Sonny left instructions for Jason, who was returning to town after a business trip, that he should head straight to the courthouse. He then apologized to Em for Carly's behavior. Sonny then told Emily that he saw through Carly's plan for them to have that awkward dinner at Metro Court. Em said she didn't care. She knows what she wants and it's him. She then headed off to the courthouse. As the trial continued, Ric questioned Emily on the stand about Jason's accident and how it relates to Manny's case. After that grilling, Alexis called Sam to the stand. Not surprisingly, Sam was a hostile witness. Alexis asked the under oath Sam point-blank if Jason was a killer. She replied that Manny was the killer, and as she taunted Manny from the stand, he kept his seething anger in check.

In the courthouse hallway, Nik showed up and Em said she was sorry about Court leaving town. He was upset that everyone knew Courtney's plans but him. Nik then warned Em to stay away from Sonny. She told him to butt out. Just when he said he didn't want her to be "next in the line of Sonny's whores," they both turned their heads to see Sonny standing there.

At the request of badly beaten Lucas, Dillon and Georgie took him to the Quartermaine guesthouse rather than the hospital. Maxie showed up, furious that Georgie called home to say she was spending the night with Dillon. Lucas came out of hiding; his appearance shocked Maxie. When she demanded to know what was really going on, Lucas blurted out, "I'm gay!" Maxie was ferocious in her loyalty to Lucas, but he remained adamant about staying in the closet. Maxie agreed to cover for Georgie at home and left. Maxie then met Jesse at Kelly's and betrayed a confidence. "Be my boyfriend, not a cop," she asked. After explaining the "hypothetical" situation, she confessed, "It's Lucas." Back at the Q's, Georgie treated Lucas's cuts, but he was in bad shape. Maxie returned, with Jesse. Lucas was angry, but Jesse said he was there as a friend and sought details. Lucas recounted the story, but got so angry that he threw a glass at the wall. Jesse announced his plan to nab this creep by going undercover. Maxie was worried. Jesse thanked Maxie for telling him what happened, and headed out to land himself a gay-basher. Georgie and Dillon tried to get Lucas to come out to his family, but he still refused.

Sam had a showdown in the courthouse with Alexis and Ric over their defending Manny. Robin and Patrick showed up to testify, just as Skye showed up to support Alcazar, who was also on the witness list. Durant baited Alexis and suggested she cut a deal. Just then, Manny entered the courtroom. On the stand, Alcazar detailed how he cut off ties with Ruiz, but managed to deflect his own guilt. (Ric flashed back to Manny's shooting in the park.) Carly was shocked that he called Jason a killer in open court, and confronted him on a break. Her words cut through Alcazar, calling him self-serving and pointed out their union never stood a chance. Skye offered sympathetic words after Carly stormed off. They acknowledged their lousy taste in love interests, then went to grab a bite to eat. Patrick was non-committal on the stand, then Robin testified about Manny's medical history, stating she believed he has changed. Robin admitted in court she used to be in love with Jason, making Sam uncomfortable. She then recounted Jason's history and how he in fact changed after brain surgery, too. But when Jason was called to testify, he was a no-show. Carly and Sam interrupted the proceedings, and the judge granted Jason an extension to show up. If not, he would be headed to jail. Recess was called. Carly told Sam she'd take care of Jason and headed out. Meanwhile, Sam got Manny alone and set a trap to incriminate the creep.

Liz gave Emily a coupon for a homemade birthday dinner, then marveled at the extravagant watch Sonny gave to Em. "What happened to him not returning your feelings," Liz queried. "He was trying to protect me," Em explained, saying his kiss was "amazing." She then told Liz about Nik and Court's engagement. Emily advised her concerned pal to lighten up — she's happy, so be happy for her. The women then shared a hug, and Emily got a message delivered — from Courtney.

Meanwhile, Courtney met Carly at Kelly's where she gave her all her necessary travel documents to hide out in South Carolina in order to get her and her baby away from warring boys Jax and Nikolas. Court was still iffy about leaving Nik behind, but Carly pointed out that the most important thing her friend needs is peace of mind. "If Nikolas still loves me, he'll be here when I come back," Court mused. She then wrote Jax a goodbye letter explaining her motives. Just as she finished reading it, the bossy Aussie showed up at her door. He explained why it was so difficult to give her space. (If he only knew!) and asked her forgiveness. "Whatever I do is always in the best interest of our child," Court ominously stressed. Then, another knock. It was Emily. Jax left, and Court told Em she's leaving town and her and Nik could now be together. Em was dumfounded and called Courtney a troublemaker and a coward. Needless to say, the women didn't see eye to eye on Nikolas. Emily then told Courtney to, "Take your noble sacrifice and shove it."

Nik showed up at the hospital, but Liz told him he had just missed Em. He later met Courtney in the park after her scene with Emily. She asked him if he was still in love with Em and he replied yes, but he equated that love to hers for Jason. He then re-iterated his commitment to her. Meanwhile, Jax showed up at the loft again, used his key and entered. He then found the goodbye note and read it — along with Nik's note, as well.

Emily ran into Carly at Sonny's, and barked that just because Court's leaving town, she and Nikolas are not going to reunite. Carly laughed off the idea of Emily and Sonny as a romantic couple.... At the courthouse, Sam baited Manny and he attacked her.

Lulu overheard Tracy in the Quartermaine drawing room, and realized the ruse. Dillon was initially overjoyed to learn his mother was alive, but then his anger quickly kicked in. As Dillon chastised his mother's selfishness, Skye entered and told off Tracy. Alan sat by greatly amused by the fighting. Skye deduced that Alan was in on the sham from the get-go. Disgusted, Dillon, Georgie and Lulu walked out. Lulu phoned Mac, while Tracy refused to clear Luke's name. Shortly thereafter, Big Alice screamed when she saw that Tracy was alive. Mac entered and Tracy and Alan came clean. Alan supported Tracy's claim that Luke was trying to kill her, and Mac pointed out to Skye that innocent men don't run — so, he refused to drop the charges against Luke. That night, Skye pointed out that Tracy really cares for Luke, since she refuses to leave him. Skye then vowed that she's getting out of this twisted triangle and left. Lulu entered and congratulated Tracy. Could an alliance be forming? Skye went to Metro Court, where she met up with Alcazar. He surprised her by wondering aloud if the two of them still had a chance, romantically speaking.

At Jake's, Lucas came out to Brook Lynn, who replied, "I was wondering how long it was going to take you to figure it out." Brook was both sympathetic and encouraging, saying she knew he wasn't straight or he would have been all over her. Brook then announced that she was leaving town that night, as she was feeling "restless." (Good one, since Brook's portrayer, Adrianne Leon, assumes the role of YOUNG AND RESTLESS's Colleen beginning tomorrow.) Dillon and Georgie joined them, and Dillon filled in his friends about Tracy's shenanigans. Brook noticed that the cute guy playing pool nearby had been staring at Lucas. The gang quizzed Lucas about his new gay lifestyle, and Georgie encouraged her cousin to start a conversation with the pool player. Lucas reluctantly approached him, and the guy smiled back. Later, as Brook was leaving, Lucas brought her the cell phone she'd left behind. They shared a sweet good-bye. Then pool boy came outside and suggested he and Lucas go for a bite. "You are gay, right?" he quizzed. Lucas said yes, and the two left together. Later, in the park, Dillon and Georgie found Lucas in the bushes, who had been badly beaten.

Sonny took Emily out to Metro Court for her birthday dinner, as Nikolas and Courtney awkwardly attempted to dine nearby. The only one who was happy was Carly, who joyously announced, "Let the games begin." None of the four wanted to get up and leave, but the awkwardness and tension could be cut with a knife. Finally, with Nik all preoccupied, Court had enough and left the table. Nikolas followed, and Jax paid Carly $20. Emily was nonplussed and wanted to stay and enjoy her date with Sonny. In the lobby, Court told Nikolas to send Emily a card. He apologized, but she stated it was clear he's still got feelings for Em. Court got teary at Nik's jealousy, though he denied it. Nik stormed off. Back at the restaurant, Sonny asked Emily to dance, but that move angered Carly, and this time, Jax had to restrain her. Sonny escorted Emily out on the balcony, where they shared a private dance. After exchanging smoldering glances, Sonny suggested taking it somewhere else, and they headed for the elevator. Downstairs, Sonny and Emily bumped into Courtney all alone. Sonny asked what was wrong, and Court replied, "Ask her," (meaning Emily, of course).

On the docks, Nikolas called Lucky for sympathy. He explained that Courtney accepted his proposal, and then detailed the lousy date at Metro Court. Lucky pointed out the obvious, that Nik can't seem to let Emily go. After Lucky left, Jax arrived on the scene. Back in the lobby, Court spilled to Sonny and Emily about the engagement, then mentioned that Nik's love for Em has never gone away. She began to cry, and Sonny advised her to go home and get some rest. As he and Emily left, Court wished Em a happy birthday. Carly approached Courtney and gave her friend a hug. "Do you want to do something about this or not?" Carly asked her weepy pal. Courtney told Carly she wanted to take her up on her offer to disappear. Court made Carly promise not to tell Jax or Nikolas where she was headed. Carly agreed. Back on the docks, Jax told Nik he was looking forward to picking up the pieces with Courtney.

At Casa de Corinthos, Sonny and Emily shared a brandy. He asked if she wanted to go home, and stated that maybe her coming home with him wasn't such a good idea. (There are those mixed messages again!) Emily stressed she's not on the rebound, and that her feelings for him are real. Sonny suggested she take some time to figure out what she really wants. He put her coat on her shoulders and said it was all for the best. Sonny then kissed her on the cheek and promised he wasn't going anywhere. Then, Emily left.
