GH Recaps Week of July 24, 2006Friday, July 28, 2006 Colleen eavesdropped as Nikolas told Alfred he liked having Emily around. She interrupted to take John for a walk, but Emily arrived. Nik gave Colleen the day off and invited Emily to see the stables with John. Alfred told Colleen that Nik and Emily will soon be a couple again. Emily worried that John would be afraid of the horses, so they left him alone in his playpen. Fearing Helena's reaction to Emily, Colleen mulled setting up that "snip" Emily to look like a threat to John's safety. Elizabeth took Patrick's blood sample for analysis while Alan explained the anti-retrovirus protocol. Frustrated, Patrick knocked over an instrument tray, attracting Robin's attention. He confessed he'd never thought about his own mortality, and asked her what to expect. She suggested denial, paranoia, anger, regret, fear and acceptance. But not knowing/ignoring the problem is worse. Alan brought Patrick his meds — which triggered a flashback for Robin of Alan giving the same speech to Stone. Then Alan assured Patrick he can continue working at GH. Patrick suggested he now understands Robin better — there's always a low-level fear of passing on the disease. Robin promised that dealing eventually becomes part of who you are.
Sam delivered some files to Lucky, who hinted that he suspected she stole Jason's file. An offended Sam pointed out Jason broke up with her — and besides, you coppers will never get nuthin' on him! Lucky boasted that he saved Jason's life, but she scoffed at his version of events. Then Lucky checked the case file and saw something unsettling. Sam ran into Jason in the elevator — which got stuck. Sam recapped her bad day, and Jason offered to help her pass tomorrow's G.E.D. exam. She fretted that she never gets what she wants. Later, Lucky went home and told Liz there was no bullet wound in Manny — Jason killed him, so Lucky's promotion was a lie.
Thursday, July 27, 2006 A messenger brought Carly a "gift" from Jax: a postcard. She blew her stack just as Nikolas walked in. He wanted to apologize. She found the virus antidote that saved John's life, so he's going to let her see him. He doesn't want to punish John or Michael and Morgan because he's mad at her. John needs the childhood Nik never had. Carly was so happy she vowed never to mention Robin again. (Yeah, right!) Emily brought Sonny roses from that controversial garden and praised him for taking his medication. Sonny wondered if he seems different. She pronounced him "fine." Later, Sonny reported to Dr. Winters that he feels "normal," but Lainey warned he's not out of the woods yet. He has deep issues that require more therapy, and his medication is difficult to regulate. She asked why he's claustrophobic. Sonny launched into his usual tale of how his stepfather locked him in a closet, making him feel "helpless, scared, nervous." Next, Lainey asked about his mother. Sonny called her beautiful and generous, but she couldn't protect him, so he had to protect her. "My mother was an angel," he insisted. His stepfather was a "sadistic bastard." He refused to talk about it any more. Lainey suggested he was angry at his mother for not doing more to protect him. But Sonny countered that feeling pain for his mother does not make him crazy. Lainey ordered his lithium dosage increased. Later, Dr. Winters summoned Carly and voiced her concerns that Sonny will stop treatment because she pushed the childhood issues. Carly reassured her that he needed to be prodded. (Besides, hasn't Sonny told that story, like, six million times already?) Meanwhile, Sonny searched the liquor cabinet for booze even as Emily encouraged him to keep up his meds. He lamented Lainey suggesting that he blamed his mother for his stepdad's beatings. He was also mad that she upped his meds as a knee-jerk response. He adamantly refused to ever blame his mother, then threw his pills across the room just as Carly walked in. "Sonny! Stop!" she screamed. As Patrick began operating on AIDS patient April, there was a "mechanical" noise that distracted him. Robin asked if he cut himself, so Patrick silently thought about it for a while. Before he could wash the wound April crashed and the bloody-handed Patrick chose to continue the operation to save her. After April was stabilized, Patrick warned everyone to keep the incident quiet (Is that legal?). He wordlessly examined his finger, then Robin started scrubbing it. Later, she found him still scrubbing. She flashed back to Stone's tearful confession that he was HIV-positive. She insisted Patrick get his blood tested. Today. And start retrovirus treatment. After making sure April was stable, Robin said there's something he needs — but he didn't know it. She took him to the pier to look at the water and try to gain some perspective. He scoffed when she suggested she knew what he was thinking. She recapped about Stone and getting her own diagnosis. Patrick may have dodged this bullet, so he shouldn't give up hope. And he's not alone. Patrick lamented how a dry spell will cramp his style, but if his blood test is clean in six months he's home free. He told her she got her committed relationship by default. A weepy Robin said she'd give anything for this not have happened. He sobbed, too.
Wednesday, July 26, 2006 Nikolas and Colleen brought John to GH for a check-up. Emily arrived, explaining that Alfred had called her and asked her to help out. Nik and Emily chatted about John while Colleen lurked then broke it up. Later, Colleen remarked on the strong Nik/Emily friendship. He told her about the "Four Musketeers" and that he ruined things with Em. Later, Nik took John to the docks (where EVERYBODY goes ALL THE TIME), where they ran into Emily. (See?) Colleen took John home while Nik and Emily chatted about Alfred meddling in their "affairs." Nik admitted he was happiest when married to her. Alexis asked Sam what she knows about Sonny's disease — and when Ric knew it. She pleaded ignorance. Alexis worried about Kristina's moods since Sonny is her father. Meanwhile, Mac wondered who was running Sonny's business affairs: Ric or Jason. Sonny's would-be saviors threatened each other by recapping. When Mac expedited the building permits for the warehouse project, Jason wondered why Mac was helping him when Alexis was holding up things. Mac said he wants Jason's mob to run the town, not the Escobar's — or Sonny's. Later, Ric arrived home, where Alexis confronted him about keeping Sonny's condition secret. Ric tried to redirect her ire toward Jason, but Alexis accused him of not caring about the children. Then Jason ran into Sam, who was weepy over Sonny. She asked Jason to just walk away the next time he sees her. Later, Alexis confronted Jason about whether Sonny will maintain his treatment. Jason was confident Sonny would put his kids first and stick with it. Later, Sam arrived home to find Ric headed for a swim. He recapped his terrible day, and Sam admitted she didn't tell Alexis about Sonny's condition either. When he asked about Jason, Sam flipped and said she doesn't want to hear about him anymore. Ric suggested she needs to do something to "irrevocably change things" between her and Jason "forever." Maxie bought a bag of pills from a dealer in broad daylight on the pier (where EVERYONE goes ALL THE TIME) for $50, but he also tried to get a little touchy-feely with her. Luckily, Lucky was also at the docks (See? Everybody goes there) and he rescued her, but he wrenched his back in the process. In her room, Maxie offered him the pills. He declined, then accepted. He popped the pills in the hall, then returned to her room, where they kissed. Later, after they had sex, Maxie begged him not to regret it, but he did. "Elizabeth is my wife," he moaned. He didn't want to hurt Maxie because she's amazing, but it's not right. She played it cool and agreed to his request for a vow of silence. "Thank you, for everything," he said, turning this into a literal "Wham-bam, thank you ma'am" situation. Dillon found Georgie at Kelly's, but she didn't want to talk. Lulu appeared (What is this, the pier?), and Georgie asked her to handle him. Lulu apologized for lying, and Georgie acknowledged her, but she told Dillon they're both too young to know what love is. Dillon told Lulu he loves Georgie. Lulu wondered why he forgives Georgie but not her. She suggested he doesn't really love Georgie, but he insisted he simply had faith in the wrong people.
Tuesday, July 25, 2006 Emily told Sonny she wasn't scared when he stripped the dress off her; she's glad she's with him. Sonny fretted over having to take pills for the rest of his life, but Emily encouraged him to take his medicine. Then they recapped the "Sonny is a danger to Emily" stuff. Emily promised to walk away if the medicated Sonny doesn't want her. Meanwhile, Lainey summoned Carly to GH, where the doc warned her Morgan might inherit bipolar disorder. Then Carly flagged down a passing Alexis to tell her Sonny's diagnosis and that Kristina could inherit it. Alexis said she would research it on the Internet and bring in Kristina for evaluation. She also suggested that Sonny might not accept therapy and medication because he'd see it as "weakness." She criticized Carly for enabling him. Carly pointed out that Sonny is a good father who will do what it takes to get well for his children. At home, Sonny called Jason for a second opinion about taking the meds. Emily recapped the "Jason as enabler" argument, but Sonny insisted it's his call. Jason arrived and Emily immediately jumped him with Lainey's diagnosis — which angered Sonny. She begged him to take the pills and left. Sonny asked if Jason would agree to become a medicated "zombie." Emily went to GH and chatted to Liz about Lucky's jealousy of Patrick. Liz fretted that she hasn't been paying enough attention to her husband, but Emily warned her not to blame herself. Liz looked at the bright side: "We have a really great life," she smiled. "Lucky and I just need to reconnect." Meanwhile, Sonny explained to Jason that dosage is not an exact science, and recapped his fears — of relapsing, of hurting people he loves, and of becoming a "robot." He wondered if the lithium would make him reject the business, the power and the people he loves. Later, Liz decided to "reconnect" with Lucky by donning sexy purple lingerie and lighting candles. Grumpy Lucky didn't want to talk about their problems, but that didn't stop them from bickering over Patrick. Liz insisted he flirts with her just to provoke Robin. But Lucky suggested she's beautiful and smart, and might be better off with rich, successful Patrick. She praised his raise and promotion. He lamented all his recent problems and rebuffed her romantic advances in favor of a shower (presumable very cold), which left Liz puzzled. Meanwhile, Jason recounted being frustrated with the doctors who told him he had brain damage and tried to "control" his life. Sonny acknowledged that it's hard out here for a pimp...but Michael and Morgan were frightened by his breakdown, so he has to set an example for them. After extracting a promise from Jason to tell Sonny if he changes, Sonny popped the pills with shaky hands.
Monday, July 24, 2006 Sam denied stealing Jason's file and was offended by her mother's lack of faith. Alexis apologized, but an angry Sam kicked a chair. Later, Alexis went to GH and asked Elizabeth to have Lucky call her about a missing file. Ric charged Jason with being jealous of him being Sonny's brother, and again criticized the hit man for enabling Sonny. Meanwhile, Lainey diagnosed Sonny as having bipolar disorder. "I'm not happy about it," Sonny said (um...was that a joke?). She prescribed lithium, which he will have to take "for life." Sonny suggested putting off medication, but Lainey warned that another breakdown is only a matter of time. Ric tried to leave Sonny's, but Jason grabbed him just as Sonny arrived home. Ric came clean about buying the dress, but insisted that he had diagnosed Sonny as bipolar about a month ago and decided Sonny needed to hit rock-bottom before he would accept help. He's sorry he pushed Sonny to the edge, but "it worked." Jason said Ric essentially gave Sonny a loaded gun and encouraged him to pull the trigger — under the guise of helping. Sonny noted that Jason had never defied him or gone behind his back, but Ric did. "I want you out of my house," he told his brother. Maxie listened as Lucky bemoaned Liz constantly flirting with Patrick, then admitted they have been drifting apart. He stumbled to his feet and left, just seconds before Liz appeared, asking for him. Maxie denied seeing him. Later, Emily suggested Liz call Lucky on his cell. Liz admitted she feels like she's married to a stranger. Patrick wondered if Carly would go all the way. "Tonight I am all yours." Then Jason walked in, and Carly dropped Patrick like he was diseased. (Hmmmm.) Disgusted, Patrick left. Carly suggested Jason missed Sam. On the docks, Ric flipped out over his phone before noticing Sam was there (Like we say, everybody goes there!), so he recapped, then asked how she could still defend Jason after the way he broke up with her. Sam was already sick of Alexis harping on Jason. Ric told her to stop trying to live up to Alexis' standards, and instead do whatever she wanted. Back at GH, Patrick accused Robin of sending Jason to Jake's to distract Carly. Robin denied it, and suggested that Carly would never sleep with him because he already slept with somebody who is HIV-positive. Emily arrived at Sonny's so he recapped and apologized for tearing the dress off her. Emily insisted she was cool with what he did, because now he's getting treatment. He told her his diagnosis and she hugged him. Then he lamented having to take meds for the rest of his life. Liz left an urgent message for Lucky, then began shredding a file. One with Jason's mug shots in it....
