GH Recaps Week of August 21, 2006

Friday, August 25, 2006
Lucky found Elizabeth in bed (well, the sofa bed) with Patrick and shot her dead. Or did he? It was a nightmare. She comforted him, and he admitted killing her in his dreams. He wondered how she can forgive him and Maxie. He said she didn't cheat on their marriage, prompting her to flash back to cheating. Nikolas arrived and Liz left. Nik advised him not to detox alone, but Lucky insisted — besides, he was afraid Patrick would swoop in while he was locked up in a clinic. Emily found Liz crying in the GH locker room after visiting Cameron. "He loves day care," Emily pointed out, helpfully. Liz fretted that she can't bring Cam home to a junkie daddy. Maxie eavesdropped as Liz vowed not get trapped in a cycle of recovery and relapse. If Lucky starts using again, "I'm gone." Maxie pondered the pills she bought. Later, she lurked as Nik brought Lucky to GH. When Lucky was alone, Maxie popped out and gave him the pills.

Patrick asked Robin to consult on a case, but she preferred to stick with working in the lab. She's not hiding, she just doesn't want to pretend to be cheerful for everyone else.

Sonny fretted that Ric could use the DA's office to get at Jason, so he'll neutralize his brother by telling Alexis about Ric and Sam. Jason asked him to give Sam a heads-up first. Sonny got a call from Ms. Sneed about April, so he went to GH, where Sneed coldly recounted April's demise and gave him the letter April had been writing. Sonny blasted her for lacking empathy, and warned he'd have her fired if she was rude to any AIDS patients again. Sonny read the letter, which was addressed to Robin, and paged her. Then Robin read the letter, in which April thanked Robin for making sure she didn't feel alone and worthless; Robin gave her something to live for, a sense of purpose. "Fight the monster, Dr. Scorpio," she pleaded, and show others how to fight. Robin shared with Sonny her remorse over Stone's death, his birthday, and her experience in the church. He told her to recall how much Stone loved her. Later, Robin scrubbed in on Patrick's operation.

Alexis wanted to make a tape for her daughters, but Kristina interrupted. Alexis confessed she didn't know what to say, so she asked Sam what she'd like to hear. Sam suggested hearing that she mattered, that she was loved, that Alexis fought hard and that it was hard to say goodbye. Then they went to GH for a pre-op consult with Patrick, who comforted Kristina and sent her and Sam to the pier for some rides and ice cream. When Patrick remarked on family taking care of each other, Alexis flashed back to Ric and Sam...er, "taking care" of each other. Patrick showed her the X-rays, and Alexis asked her chances. "You're not terminal," he hedged before admitting, "There's a real chance that you may not survive this." At the pier, Sam and Kristina ran into Jason and asked for a boat ride. Sam called for permission, and Alexis asked Jason to promise that the boat won't explode and he won't get shot. (Apparently, she can still be cold-hearted with a bum lung.) Later, Alexis asked Sonny to order Jason to stay away from Sam so she can concentrate on Kristina and Molly. Sonny balked, but Alexis spun Patrick's comments to make herself look pitiful. "I could be dying," she wheezed.

Back at the pier, Sam and Jason sang each other's praises and shared meaningful glances — glances so meaningful that even tiny Kristina was prompted to ask: "Are you guys gonna kiss or what?"

Emily answered Nikolas' summons to keep an eye on the baby because Alexis has summoned him. Lulu arrived and dreaded the speech she expected from Nikolas. Emily let her hold the baby for a moment, and Lulu remarked how she couldn't imagine having the responsibility of a kid of her own. Emily suggested she listen to Nik's advice, and extended his invitation to live at Windemere. Lulu fretted that everyone is "trying to run my life." Emily suggested she seek counseling, and Lulu agreed to consider it and left. Later, at Kelly's, Robert quizzed Lulu about why the Qs would be arguing over her, so she confessed she's pregnant — but she doesn't need another surrogate dad "trying to run my life." Robert blamed Luke and threatened to kill him. He accused her of acting out to get her father's attention, but Lulu insisted she made this mistake all on her own. Emily and Nik reported back to each other on their conversations. Nik was upset to realize "no one's invulnerable." Cancer is not a death sentence — Emily survived breast cancer.

Ric warned Alexis to slow down at work, but she refused. She went to talk to Lainey, and after receiving assurances of doctor/patient confidentiality, recapped her crazy life. She's afraid to tell Ric and Sam she knows they slept together because she's afraid it will blow her family apart (Why? Because...?) In the DA's office, Alexis found Sam making piles of files and calling it "filing." Alexis was overcome by a coughing fit. When Nik arrived she told him her bad news and extracted a promise to look after the children and enforce her wishes with Ric and Sonny. They embraced. Later, Alexis was overcome again during a meeting with Mayor Floyd. He declared her too sick to work and ordered her to go home. "The city wants you to get well," he proclaimed. Alexis fretted that she's not ready for people to treat her like a cancer victim. Kristina welcomed her home with big hugs. Ric came home and said Floyd offered him the interim DA post, but he'll only take it if she's cool with it. She encouraged him to take it and vowed that if she survives, she'll live a better life.

One of Alcazar's thugs accosted international secret agent Robert in broad daylight on the pier (An international secret agent should know better than to wander in such a dangerous place alone, but everybody goes there all the time). Alcazar complained that a shipment got hijacked last night, but Robert professed ignorance. At that moment, Jason told Sonny that he intercepted one of Alcazar's weapons shipments last night. Apparently Jason thinks he's still in charge because Sonny was angry he acted without his authorization. Sonny feared Alcazar already suspects him and may use force to get his guns back. At that moment Alcazar swaggered into Sonny's home and demanded his shipment be returned. Sonny promptly served up the requested info, much to Jason's chagrin. The boss told Jason he has more important concerns — Alexis is sick, and she hates gang wars. This display of weakness left Jason somewhat slack-jawed. Later, Jason found Elizabeth on the pier (where she wandered because...well, everybody goes there all the time, even though it's crawling with drug dealers, trigger-happy cops and armed thugs who accost international secret agents in broad daylight). Liz mused that everything comes down to timing and chance. Jason pointed out that people have the power to choose how they react to the things that happen to them. Example: He chose to be with Liz. And she doesn't feel guilty about being with him. He vowed to always be her friend. Later, Sonny went to Lainey and, after receiving assurances of doctor/patient confidentiality (Who wants to bet this becomes a plot point, since it's hammered home twice this hour?), recapped about Alexis. He asked if he should tell Alexis that Ric slept with Sam. She said yes, if he thinks it serves a greater good.

Edward called the Enduro condoms manufactured by an ELQ subsidiary a "class-action lawsuit waiting to happen" — a comment Lulu overheard. She checked with Dillon to learn he had used Enduro when she got pregnant — a comment Tracy overheard. Lulu tried to cover, but Dillon admitted it. Edward ordered them to get married, but Tracy was against it. Lulu felt she was being treated like a child and stormed out. Dillon told his family he had used Enduro. Edward feared Luke would file a lawsuit. Lulu went to Kelly's, and told Georgie the news. Dillon followed and apologized for his family. He promised they'll do what's best for the baby. Lulu suggested maybe she doesn't want the baby. Dillon allowed that adoption is an option, and while he's unsure about it, they will find a solution. Dillon was summoned home. Georgie told Lulu the Quartermaines won't allow any adoption, and Lulu asked, Who says there has to be a baby? "I don't want to be pregnant," she cried, noting she's not ready. Lulu pondered "a safe and legal medical procedure." Georgie said she needs to be sure, and Lulu fled in tears. Back home, Tracy apologized to Dillon and promised to support him. He was skeptical. Edward burst in and insisted Dillon marry Lulu. Dillon told them the baby is his, not theirs, and fled.

Patrick and Robin gazed at the sunrise and mooned over April. Anna broke into the room to deliver a basket with scones, jam and cheese. Patrick left to arrange April's funeral, and the women talked. They discussed April and how helpless Robin feels, but now she's happy Anna is back. Later, at GH, Patrick suggested cremating April and scattering her ashes at Heaven's Gate in Arizona. Robin resisted his attempts to draw her back into the operating room. Alone, she later broke down in tears.

Elizabeth woke up alone because Lucky was at the pier, where he nabbed a drug dealer (Well, this is the pier, where everybody goes all the time.). The dealer offered Lucky pills in exchange for freedom. Lucky read him his rights just as Det. Rodriguez appeared out of nowhere (Well, this is the pier, where everybody goes all the time.). Then Liz appeared out of nowhere (Well, this is the pier...) in time to see Lucky give Rodriguez the drugs. They went home and argued over him going back to work. Then he dropped his gun and it went off. Edward suddenly appeared and told Lucky that Dillon knocked up Lulu, and the kid will be raised a Quartermaine. Lucky defended Lulu's interests, and Liz told Edward they'll get back to him. Lucky freaked over being out of the loop with his sister's life. He warned Liz to stay out of this family affair, so she stormed out. She later returned, just as Lucky was headed out to "go find" Lulu. Liz didn't think he could handle it, but he left anyway. Outside, he made a call. "I need some help."

Alfred suggested that Nikolas invite Emily for dinner. Colleen interrupted to say she's worried about the effects of the humidity on the baby, so Nik should take them somewhere — perhaps the Greek islands. Nik agreed. Emily appeared, and told Nik Lulu is pregnant. Nik agreed to delay his trip to help Lucky and Lulu. Colleen was disappointed (No Greece for her!). Nik suggested Lulu move in with him. Later, Emily and Nik visited Lucky's place. Nik was skeptical Lucky could handle helping Lulu. At the pier, Lucky met Maxie and asked for pills. Even though she had a purse full of pills, she acted like they would be hard to get.

Dillon returned to Kelly's and recapped to Georgie. She was dismissive of the faulty condoms. Dillon apologized yet again for sleeping with Lulu. Georgie advised Dillon to give Lulu plenty of space. Lulu, meanwhile, was telling her mother her problems. "How can I bring a baby into this world whose parents don't want it any more than you and Dad wanted me?"

Robin moped over Stone's birthday, and fretted that she and Patrick had given April false hope. Alan explained April's cause of death as Robin flashed back to Stone's passing. She wondered how Alan can remain so calm. "The truth is, AIDS kills people," she gasped, and fled. Patrick found her at the pier, and recalled her optimistic "looking at the horizon" speech. She scoffed at her naiveté. AIDS will kill her eventually, she admitted. Back home, Robin unpacked, since she's not moving. "I've been alone since the day Stone died," she said, drawing a rebuke from Patrick. He won't let her give up. She was optimistic when he was exposed. She pointed out he still has hope, whereas it's too late for her. "You want the truth?" he asked. (Apparently, she can't handle the truth.) "Time is the most precious commodity we have," he said, pointing out that if AIDS doesn't get her a bus or even stray bullets might.

Maxie told Elizabeth that Lucky wanted to cheat because Liz doesn't understand him. Liz blamed that cliché on Lucky's habit and branded Maxie a "husband-stealing tramp." Frantic for pills, Lucky dialed Maxie, but got her voicemail. Liz said Lucky begged her not to end their marriage, and he's getting clean. She accused Maxie of exploiting Lucky's weakness and warned her to steer clear of him and left. Maxie later scored more pills.

Alexis assured Sonny she will fight her disease, but she needs to plan for her death, and she doesn't want her daughters growing up without a mother like she did. Alexis blamed her mother's death for making her a stone-cold witch — but also for motivating her to dote on Kristina. Sonny offered to help if she dies, but Alexis wants Kristina to stay with Ric, citing his profession as a lawyer and the way he cares for Molly. Sonny vowed to "do what I think is best for my daughter," by which he means not letting her be raised by Ric. Alexis insisted the girls need each other. Sonny suggested she revisit the subject after chemo. Meanwhile, Jason consoled a teary Sam. She mulled telling Alexis about her and Ric, but Jason noted it was hard for Alexis to ask for help, so Sam should keep the secret, even if it's hard to live with. There was a knock at the door: it was Elizabeth. Jason looked stricken. Sam told Liz about Alexis and noted that they all know who slept with whom. Liz indicated she's no longer planning to leave Lucky. The women vowed to keep each other's secrets, and Sam left. Liz asked Jason to keep the secret from Lucky. Sonny ordered Ric to support Alexis — and stay away from Sam. If Alexis dies, Ric is no longer under Sonny's protection.

Liz returned home to a jonesing Lucky and gave him a wet washcloth and a hug. Lucky resisted rehab, noting it would go on his work record. While she isn't a doctor or drug counselor, Lucky said she's all the inspiration he needs to fight, and they cuddled. Sonny told Jason that Alexis needs Sam, which means Sam will needs Jason. "This whole situation sucks," Jason observed. "Fifty/fifty odds aren't great," observed the casino owner. "She's not fighting to live, she's planning to die." Jason suggested Sam won't let her mother die. Sonny vowed to make sure Alexis stays alive so that Kristina doesn't suffer. At home, Alexis explained her cough to Kristina. Sam walked in on the sad scene and tried to lift the child's spirits by suggesting baking cookies, making cards for GH patients, taking pictures, and practicing swimming (even if it is late already...). When Alexis took Kristina to bed Sam went on the deck, where she ran into Ric and revealed she told Jason about them — but he already knew. Alexis saw them talking and flashed back to seeing them having sex.

Ric asked Sonny if his sudden interest in Kristina is due to his illness. Sonny replied it isn't his illness that's the problem. Alexis told Sam, "I have Stage 2 lung cancer and I may die." She needs a lobectomy that will leave a bad scar, and then chemo. It doesn't matter that she doesn't smoke. Alexis worried about Molly and Kristina — they need more than a nanny. Ric pointed out that both he and Sonny cheated on their wives with Sam. Alexis opened the door to usher Sam out when Ric appeared and hovered as Alexis apologized for being angry at Sam. "I have cancer and I need my family, all of my family, to help me beat it, because I don't want to die." Then she saw a dumbstruck Ric. "Why didn't you tell me?" he demanded. She admitted being scared. She doesn't want to go through it alone, and she needs Ric to get along with Sam. Ric mentioned seeing Mayor Floyd holding Alexis, and she laughed at him. He reached out to her; she resisted, but melted into him and started crying. Later, Ric found Sam at the pier, gazing wistfully at the water as a gentle breeze wafted through her hair. He vowed not to let Alexis go through this ordeal alone, and asked Sam if she was staying to help. She said she got a job offer on a salvage ship that leaves at dawn. They agreed they need to forget about their night together and she left. Later, Sonny told Jason that Kristina needs Sam and Ric, so he wants Jason to advise Sam to stick around — Jason has to forgive her. Then Sonny went to Alexis and told her he knows she's sick. She said she has a 50/50 chance, and she needs him to "make it right for Kristina."

Lucky told Maxie his addiction drove him into her arms. She protested that she helped him because he was in pain — physical and emotional. Lucky said Elizabeth is his wife and he loves her more than anything and won't walk away from his marriage. She suggested that Patrick must be looking better to Liz now that he's a confessed junkie. Meanwhile, Jason was telling Liz that Sam confessed to sleeping with Ric, so he told her about them. A furious Liz feared that if a vengeful Sam told Lucky, it would ruin his recovery. Jason assured her Sam is leaving town. Liz asked if he can forgive Sam. He asked if she can forgive Lucky? She said she'll have to try, because he needs to get clean. Later, Sonny told Jason Sam isn't leaving town after all. Lucky visited Liz on his way to an AA meeting, and they hugged as Maxie watched. After his meeting, Lucky was told that Liz had gotten a message to meet him at the pier. But it was Maxie who met Liz. "We need to talk...about Lucky," she said.

Patrick told April she's ready to be released, and Robin revealed she's giving April her apartment. April pointed out that Patrick and Robin care about each other, even if they won't admit it. Later, Patrick and Robin packed up her stuff, and joked that her having roommates limited his options. They smooched, but he withdrew. She assured him they're taking precautions, and she has been playing the odds for years, so they kissed again. Meanwhile, April struggled to finish writing something — and flatlined. Later, Patrick and Robin were basking in the afterglow when their beepers heralded bad news. The docs arrived at April's room to learn "She bled out." Noting that April died on Stone's birthday, Robin asked Patrick if he believes in synchronicity.

Sam arrived at Jason's and told him that Alexis asked her to stay, so she is. Her family needs her, and it's her chance to do something meaningful after screwing up so badly.
