GH Recaps Week of September 5, 2006

A forlorn-looking Alexis told Ric to focus on getting along with Sam. Am exasperated Sam, meanwhile, told Sonny that she simply told Alexis what she wanted to hear when she vowed to steer clear of Jason. Sonny pretended to be aghast, but he lied, too. Now that Alexis survived the operation, Sam is worried she could relapse. He pointed out that they don't have to do exactly what they promised Alexis. Meanwhile, Ric brought Kristina and Molly to visit Mommy. Then Sam visited. Alexis said she misses dancing, and Ric is such a good dancer. She should give Ric a chance. Alone with Molly, Ric mused that she will always be first in his heart, and warned her that younger siblings need to be strong. Daddy is tired of living by Sonny's rules, and now that he's in charge, Daddy has a plan.... Sonny told Lainey that Alexis Doesn't Know What Ric and Sam Did Last Summer, but she's too sick to be told. For his part, Sonny is "done with him," but fretted that his brother will use Kristina against him. Later, Lainey visited Alexis, who fretted over the Sam/Ric betrayal. Lainey asked what will happen if Sam and Ric bond (like Alexis wanted) but she survives? Lainey suggested this is all a secret test to see if Ric still wants Sam. Ric told Sam to be ready for the mayor's party at 7, but Sam refused to go with him. He said it's what Alexis wants. Sam said he makes her sick and stormed out.

Elizabeth visited Nikolas to complain about Lucky's struggle with cleaning up, then told Nik she's pregnant. She's afraid that stress will push Lucky back to pills, so she begged Nik to talk his brother into professional rehab. She won't tell him about the baby until he's further along in his treatment. At the pier, Colleen mused to Spencer that Nik likes her, which angered Helena. She warned the nanny to concentrate on Spencer. Colleen suddenly pulled a knife on Helena — because Nik appeared. He chased Helena away.

Dillon told Edward and Alan that Lulu disappeared, but the surly Spencer quickly stalked in, followed by Luke. Luke called the Qs on their plotting and expressed disappointment in Dillon. Luke said "she, and she alone" will make the decision about her future. Edward offered to pay off Luke, who threatened a lawsuit over the defective condoms. Alan backed abortion, but not his method of birth control. Edward suggested that Laura's heart would be broken by an abortion. Alone, Lulu told dad she can't see herself as a mom or signing over her baby to the Qs; abortion looks like her best option. She fretted over everyone's unified opposition, but Luke told her to listen to her own heart to make "a decision that's right for you," because she'll be living with it for the rest of her life. "I don't know what I want," she cried. "I don't want to have a baby that's not wanted, like you did," and walked out, leaving Luke stunned. Dilllon inquired about Lulu, then got all blubbery and begged Luke to talk Lulu into keeping the baby. Luke found Lulu at the pier (where else?), where she apologized. She was taking Dillon's wish to be a daddy to heart, but this is "no widescreen romance." She wondered what Mom would want. Luke assured her Laura would want her to make a decision from her heart and not worry about what other people think. And, by the way, Lulu's rough childhood didn't mean Luke didn't want her; he just did the best he could. Lulu's decision isn't about the past, it's about her future.

Liz went to Sonny, saying she had to talk to Jason about something personal. Sonny was polite, but cautioned her: "You need to realize that Jason loves Sam."

Jax presented Carly with a car key on a red ribbon and she blasted him for the bribe, reminding him she's not a big driver. Of course, the boys loved it. Carly went a few rounds with the three juveniles and wished them a good trip to the car dealership. "She's still mad at you," Michael sighed at Jax. "You're going to have to work a lot harder." Later, at Metro Court, Carly and Jax used a hotel property in Albany as a metaphor for their relationship and she begged Jax to let her buy him out. She ended up blasting him for disappearing. "If you want a challenge, climb Mount Everest." This wasn't a game and she didn't deal well with being left. Jax earnestly apologized, asking how he could prove he's here to stay. How about no sex for her, no sex for him, no sex for them together? Sure! They toasted to abstinence...with Jax pondering how long Carly could hold out.

Lorenzo stopped a flower-toting Ric at GH as Anna eavesdropped. "How would you like to be rid of Jason Morgan once and for all?" He outlined a quick downfall plan. "I can arrest you just as easily," Ric pointed out. Alcazar brought up Carly and the Panic Room as reminders of the real Ric (he was a history major, after all) but Ric still refused to betray Sonny. Later, Anna and Lorenzo met up on the docks and traded banter and government cred. Lorenzo said he'd give Anna the names of those he works with — if she coughed up Skye and the baby's location. Anna cited keeping Robin away from Robert early on and pointed out that their lives weren't really suited for kids. Lorenzo opened up to Anna about Diego and the new baby and countered that if Anna brought down his partners, he could get out of the mob life and be a good father. So, "do we have a deal?"

Alexis flashed back on the Ric/Sam sexcapades (they need to give her better drugs) while Sam was leaving Jason shmoopy voicemail in the hall. Sam excused her against-regulations-cell phone call and cheered Mom with "the power of family connection." Not so cheery was the scene when Ric and his flowers showed up. Alexis reminded Ric of an important social function as interim DA and suggested he take Sam. Sam and Ric didn't quite like the idea but Alexis convinced her they needed to pacify Mayor Floyd. (She's either really sainted or really vengeful.) Later, Alexis unloaded on Lainey, admitting she blamed herself for the sexcapades. "And yet I deliberately just threw them together." Alexis revealed that as angry as she is, Ric and Sam rated higher as parents than the monsters she's been raised by. Elsewhere, Ric and Sam weren't on the same page. "Don't you ever think you're going to 'reach out' to me again!" Sam warned him.

Elizabeth made an appointment with Kelly but nixed the baby congratulations — as Lucky walked in. "How long do you plan on punishing me?" Mr. Cheater asked Mrs. Cheater. She pointed out that she's doing the best she can (and the occasional hitman) before leaving Lucky craving pills. At GH, Elizabeth asked Sam about Jason's whereabouts. They awkwardly compared One Night Stand notes. Elizabeth assured Sam she wasn't a threat. Sam then lied that she and Jason were broken up anyway and fled. Maxie popped over to see Lucky, giving him pills and beaming that she'd found them an apartment to move into. Lucky played her like a fiddle, reassuring her he'd leave Elizabeth once Lulu is settled. At GH, Kelly told Elizabeth she is indeed in the family (and possibly The Family) way. "This'll be Lucky's first child, right?" beamed Kelly. "I don't know," murmured Liz. "How soon can I do a paternity test?"

Lulu confessed to Carly, "I give in. I'm going to have the baby." Carly counseled Lulu to follow her heart and not be bullied by the Quartermaines, but Lulu believed she had to trust Dillon's opinion because he was so certain that they should have the baby. Meanwhile, Sonny told Luke that Lulu is pregnant. Luke was distraught over the news...and the lack of alcohol at Sonny's penthouse. "You toss a bomb in my face and give me grape juice?" Luke wondered. Luke speculated that Lulu must have gotten pregnant on purpose because he had stressed the importance of birth control. Luke wished Laura was around to help Lulu. Luke tracked down Carly, who claimed that more than anything, Lulu needed her father because she feared her child growing up neglected and abandoned, like she had. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Lulu hesitantly agreed to sign over custody of the baby to Dillon. Luke stormed in, and Lulu confessed that she didn't know what she wanted. Luke assured that it was her decision and kicked Edward and Dillon out. "I'm really glad you're home," Lulu sniffed and hugged her dad. At her home, Carly accused Jax of using her children to get to her. Jax countered that Carly was only angry because it was working.

Sam asked Jason if he could ever be with her again knowing that she slept with Ric. "He's my enemy! Not to mention your mother's husband," lamented Jason. Jason claimed he could accept it if she had slept with anyone else. Sam wondered about Jason and Elizabeth. "It was just one night," he claimed, explaining that Elizabeth was his friend. Jason recounted his history of being unable to forgive. Sam suggested that perhaps they should give up trying to mend their relationship because she couldn't try to save their relationship alone. Sam gave Jason back her engagement ring. As they hugged, Sonny knocked on the door and ordered Jason onto a plane. Sam left and Jason took a photo of her on his trip. Meanwhile, Liz hid her pregnancy test when Lucky arrived home. They argued over Lulu, and Lucky stormed out when she blamed his withdrawal for his short temper. The test revealed that Liz was pregnant as she flashed back to sleeping with Jason.

Alexis' doctor shared her biopsy results with Ric, who broke the news to Alexis that her cancer had spread. Alexis wondered whether she should undergo chemo to prolong her life or spend her remaining time with her daughters. Ric asked Alexis to choose to believe that the chemo would work. Sam arrived and Alexis filled her in on the medical development. Sam urged Alexis to keep fighting. Alexis told Sam that she appreciated her sacrifice in staying away from Jason.

Carly counseled Lulu that having an abortion is strictly her decision. They were interrupted by a failed call from an unknown area code. Carly recounted deciding against abortion, making Lulu feel pressured to not have one. She noted that some people (like herself) are not fit to be mothers, and begged Carly to tell her what to do. Carly refused, and told her she never regretted having her babies. Lulu vowed, "I won't make the same mistake," and left. Dillon found Lulu making herself a drink, and they argued. Dillon promised they can be parents together. She protested that he still loves Georgie, and they were interrupted by another failed call from the same unknown area code. Dillon insisted he really wants the baby, so Lulu gave in. "Fine," she sighed. "Why not?"

Alexis emotionally blackmailed Sam to give up Jason even though she loves him. Meanwhile, Jason came home to find Elizabeth skulking around, supposedly looking for a lost necklace. Sam asked Alexis to try to understand how Jason never made her feel not good enough. Alexis insisted she understood, but still wanted what she wanted. Sam relented, promising not to go back to Jason. Sonny interrupted them. Alexis told him the news and renewed her demand that Sonny surrender his daughter. he relented — but on one condition: that she fight the cancer. She was aghast at his bargaining — only she is allowed to exploit family bonds for selfish reasons! Nurses came in to prep her for surgery. She continued to jabber about her kids with Patrick and Robin even as she was put under. At the elevators, Ric ran into Sonny, who demanded to know why he was late. Ric said Alexis wanted him to work, and she wouldn't lean on him. Sonny challenged him to be a better husband. In Alexis' room, Jason found Sam looking at a picture. She recounted that as a child she imagined having a family, and now she has one. She told him about Alexis' demand, and he said he understands why she promised. He apologized for pushing her away just to keep her safe and left her crying. He ran into Liz, who mulled forcing Lucky into rehab. Jason balked at making the decision for her, because he doesn't want to play God anymore. Ric found Sam in Alexis' room just as the patient was brought back. Patrick told Sam they have to wait for the biopsy results. Alexis awakened and called, "Ric?" He told her she will be well again, and a weepy Sam fled. Ric told Alexis he has failed her, but he's sticking around, and she's going to make it.

Elsewhere, Sonny filled in Carly on Alexis' situation, and admitted he lied about letting Ric raise Kristina just to give Alexis peace of mind. He admitted it would be hard to raise Michael and Morgan without Carly. Patrick found Robin on the pier (where everybody goes all the time). She recalled how Alexis was preoccupied with her kids, and that made Robin's biological clock start ticking more loudly. She'd love to be a mother. Patrick said lots of AIDS patients choose to be parents, "So do it." He praised her for not being afraid of life. He fears crashing and burning like his father, or losing someone he loves. "You would be a great mother," he opined, and they kissed.

Lucky told Maxie he couldn't imagine life without Liz, even though they've drifted apart. He rationalized taking the pills, and Maxie prodded him to talk to Lulu about her pregnancy. She kissed him and said she can't wait until they start their life together. He visited Liz at the nurses' station and admitted he was wrong to accuse her of stuff she didn't do, but he loves her.

At home, an angry Jason answered a knock to find Sam, who said everyone has to choose how to live their own life.
