At her old studio, Elizabeth checked on wounded Jason, who called out Sam's name. Liz urged him to go to the hospital, but he was determined that he must find Spinelli. Jason also told Liz that the studio had been rented for her, so she could stay there.

Before the Spencers' early Christmas celebration, Luke found Laura gazing at the decorated tree. Nikolas, Lulu and Lucky gathered with Luke and Laura for a gift-exchange. Laura seemed a little out of it, and then clearly went somewhere else mentally for a while. Luke tried to keep the holiday going, but Laura asked him to call the doctor. Patrick arrived and sadly informed the family that the outlook is not good: Laura will return to her catatonic state soon. Laura announced that she was going back to Shadybrook while she could still get their on her own, which prompted a teary outburst from Lulu. Lucky asked his mom to spend one more night with them, but she gently argued that she must go right then because her condition was quickly deteriorating.... Patrick returned to G.H. and delivered the sad news to Robin. When they were called into the ER, Robin asked Epiphany to let Mac know she wouldn't make dinner after all.

At the Q. manse, Emily observed that it was nice that they were going to have a traditional family dinner and not pizza once again. When her kin didn't seem grateful, a peeved Em demanded that Alice give their dinner away to the needy, who might appreciate it. Emily then dropped by the studio and mentioned to Jason how much the Quartermaines miss him.

At Shadybrook, Luke broke the news to Lulu, Lucky and Nikolas that she'd slipped away. Luke got through to her long enough for her to say good-bye the kids. She asked for a moment with Nikolas. Laura assured him that she'd always be with him and that if he ever wanted to know what she would say or do, he should listen his heart. Next Laura had time alone with Lucky. She praised his strength and predicted that he and Liz will work things out. When Lulu came for her good-bye, Laura told her not to be afraid of love when she finds it. Laura then haltingly said that she doesn't think she killed her stepfather, Rick, in self-defense and believes that she is innocent. Lulu vowed to prove it.

Nikolas went to the Q mansion where the family was quibbling over their cold pizza. He filled them in about Laura's return to Shadybrook and a pall fell over the room. But Monica received a call from Jason assuring her that he's alive and wishing her a happy Thanksgiving. She burst into tears. The Qs were all moved by the call.... Lucky found Liz and told her about his mom. She offered comfort and he thanked her for helping as much as she could with Laura's recovery. She asked if he had Thanksgiving Day plans. In the meantime, Dillon checked on Lulu; Sam peered out her jail cell window, while Jason gazed through a window at the studio and Patrick and Robin spent a low-key Thanksgiving at G.H.

Back at Shadybrook, Luke sat alone with Laura. He sadly acknowledged that there was no way he could keep her with him. He professed his love and said he always will love her. Laura emerged from her state again to, say "I love you. I want to stay with you" She noted that she couldn't see where she was going, but it was beautiful. "Nothing's as beautiful as looking in your eyes and knowing that we love each other, and always will," she uttered before slipping away for good. Luke kissed Laura and said he hopes her beautiful place is a garden. A sobbing Luke broke down outside her room. Laura drifted away and flashbacked to her first wedding to Luke.

No one was more surprised than Carly to find herself locking lips with ex-husband, Sonny. She broke up the clinch and demanded to see Jason. Carly was not happy to hear that Jason was being cared for by Liz. She made a beeline straight to the art studio. At the studio, a recovering Jason asked Elizabeth what she had said to him at the church but she claimed she didn't remember. (Nice evasion, Liz!) Carly arrived and quickly told Liz that she should get checked out after her fall earlier that night. Liz reluctantly agreed and left. Once Liz left the room, Carly warned Jason not to do something he'll regret.

At the PCPD, a belligerent Ric told Sam that she was going to spend the rest of her life in prison. Jax arrived and jumped to Sam's defense and warned Ric that Alexis will decimate him in court. Ric huffed out and Jax gave Sam an update on Kristina. Then, Sonny entered and Sam asked for any info on Jason. She was thrilled to hear he was alive. Sonny said, "Sit tight and act like the grieving girlfriend until I tell you otherwise." Sonny then left.

In church, a grieving Alcazar sought solace, then vowed to avenge the death of his beloved son, Diego. Lorenzo went to see Lila Rae and was berated by Edward for killing Jason while he was trying to turn himself in. Lorenzo exploded that Diego died as well, prompting Skye to beg Alcazar to give up his dangerous ways. As Lorenzo held his baby girl, he pledged to give her everything he wasn't able to give her big brother. Skye watched, deeply affected.

At the Spencer home, Lulu was devastated at the thought of losing her mother again but Laura wouldn't hear of it. She wanted her family to have one last Christmas together. The kids suggested waiting until the morning, but Laura didn't want to take any chances, so Christmas at the Spencers was tonight. In a moment alone, Laura knew something had been bothering Lulu and wanted to know what it was. Lulu finally, tearfully came clean to her mother about the abortion. Laura was saddened, supportive. Laura assured Lulu that she has her mom's unconditional love.

Liz went to Kelly's and asked for tea, but Mike insisted she have a grilled cheese sandwich, as well. Ric was there and they made small talk. Lucky arrived for pies and filled in Liz about Laura's condition, then noticed blood on her dress. Ric overheard the exchange. Liz lied and said it was a wine stain. Lucky invited Liz over for the impromptu Christmas. Ric butted in and said she should rest but Liz was more than happy to take Lucky up on the invitation.

Outside the Q estate, Tracy was furious to find Luke chopping down one of the Quartermaine trees and she got even more upset when he said he had to hurry to get back to his wife. Luke apologized for hurting Tracy's feelings. He placed his jacket around her shoulders, but she tossed it off and left. Tracy chatted with Dillon and admitted to her son that she and Luke are still married. There was no divorce. Edward approached and was disappointed to hear Luke Spencer was still his son-in-law.

At the studio, Sonny entered just as Carly was filling in Jason about the kiss. He reported that Sam was okay and that Jax was helping her. Carly then kissed Jason on the head and headed home. She caught up with Jax back at Sonny's and kissed him. She want him to make love to her and said that he's the only man for her.

At the Spencer's, Liz whispered to Emily that Jason was hurt, but alive. Laura went blank and asked why there was a Christmas tree in the room. Her memory came back and she thanked her family for indulging her wishes. Luke placed the Christmas angel upon the tree and Laura she she hopes her children will all know the love that she holds for her husband. Luke and Laura kissed. "Merry Christmas, my angel." Luke replied.

At the Spencer home, Lulu was furious that Luke kept the secret that Laura's return was only temporary, but Laura sprung to her man's defense. Laura pointed out that knowing ahead of time would have cast a shadow of sadness over their family reunion and wedding celebration. Lulu accepted her mother's explanation and the women hugged. Then, Laura acknowledged that her memory lapses were getting more frequent and her time with them is fleeting. After the emotional exchange, the family flipped through photo albums and recalled happy times. Then, Laura left the room after realizing that she wasn't going to be around for Christmas. Luke followed her to the porch, where she lamented her fate. The couple broke down in tears and embraced.

At the DA's office, Sonny told Ric that the only reason he has lived this long was because Ric was his mother's son. Citing that Ric had Jason, his "real" brother, killed, Sonny claimed, "All bets are off." Sonny pointed a loaded gun at Ric and pulled the trigger. The chamber was empty. "I guess fate's not going to let you die tonight," Sonny uttered as he stormed off.

At Sonny's, Carly ranted to Jax that her best friend Jason can't be dead. Jax told Carly that she needed to be strong for her boys, as Jason would want her to do.

After Elizabeth lit a candle at church, she saw a wounded Jason and blurted out that he's the father of her baby. A barely coherent Jason begged Liz not to call for help. She needed to care for him. Liz got Jason to her art studio, cut away his pants leg and examined his gunshot wound.

Still traumatized after seeing Diego gunned down, Kristina still didn't utter a word, even though it was her birthday. Sonny arrived at the Lakehouse, where Alexis filled him in on the situation. Kristina didn't respond to her father, either. Just then, Liz phoned Sonny and said, "A friend of yours is here." Sonny hightailed it over there, where Sonny said Liz needed to remove the bullet herself. "I'm not qualified," Liz shot back, but Sonny said with all the heat on them, "If anybody's gonna save Jason, it's gonna be you." Liz got the bullet out and Sonny left. Later, Jason woke up, thanked Liz for saving his life and then drifted off again.

At the PCPD, Alcazar was furious at being brought in for questioning after his son had just been killed. In custody, Sam recounted her story to Mac and claimed shooting Diego was in self-defense. Just then, Carly showed up and jumped to Sam's aid. Mac told Carly they were charging Sam with murder. Carly interrogated Sam about what happened to Jason. Carly pointed out that he died saving Sam, but vowed to get Sam out of jail, as Jason would want her to.

Jax showed up at Alexis's and was stunned to hear about Kristina. He sat down and told her a birthday story. Kristina laid down on Jax's lap and fell asleep.... Alcazar went to Ric and demanded retribution for his son's life or else! Ric went to see Sam and blamed her for ruining Kristina's future.... Sonny told Carly that Jason's alive.

During a closing musical montage, Luke and Laura kissed; Nikolas hugged a tearful Lulu; Jax gave Alexis a hug as she wept for Kristina; a jailed Sam tossed a chair in anger; Liz held Jason's hand, he squeezed back; An overjoyed Carly kissed Sonny.... passionately.
