Alcazar answered his ringing cell phone and informed the other party that everything was fine. Skye insisted that he act like he was still in control. "Just follow my lead," she said. "It's the only way to protect all of us."

One the thugs shot Father Mateo. Liz and Sam treated his wound while Emily and Nikolas kept Robin company. Spinelli was able to override the vault's lockdown status.

Sonny and Carly figured out the code just as Mr. Craig entered the room. "I'll give you the code if you let Carly go," Sonny proposed. Mr. Craig brought them back out to he lobby to join the others. Jason slipped Sam a mask. Mr. Craig then led Spinelli and Lulu away to the vault and ordered the kid to open it.

Mac authorized Patrick's request to have a triage unit set up. Luke freaked when he heard gunshots inside Metro Court. He started squabbling with Mac and Ric so they had Spencer handcuffed out of range to a drainpipe.

Alexis showed up and asked Ric how the hostage situation was going. He revealed that the police were going to storm the hotel. Alexis pointed out that plan would get everybody killed. She almost collapsed and Ric led her to the triage unit. After being treated, Alexis noticed a bound Luke nearby. He begged her to help free him so he could help their daughters before the police enter the hotel.

Maxie could detect a sensitivity within Three so she began to give personal details on each hostage. The info obviously bothered him and he told her to shut up. Three hurriedly pulled his mask back on when the vault door opened and Mr. Craig stepped in. "Give me that case," he ordered Three, who reluctantly complied. Mr. Craig returned to the lobby and demanded that Sonny give him the code. Corinthos refused to do so until all the hostages are released. Mr. Craig threatened to shoot Carly. Sonny gave the code and the briefcase was opened as Sam pulled on the mask, then slipped away. Mr. Craig informed Carly she was free to go. "No thanks," she sniffed.

The police cut the power to the hotel. Sam ran out into the street and warned everybody it was about to explode. Inside where it was now dark, Jason jumped Mr. Craig, who dropped the detonator. Three picked it up and Maxie told him not to activate it. Hostages started running out. Patrick charged in, scooped up Robin and carried her out. Nikolas realized that Emily was still inside the hotel but as he started to race back, an explosion erupted out of the lobby doors.

2 Hours Earlier — 3 a.m.

At the hospital, Alan made it through surgery but remained unresponsive. Monica feared that he might not ever wake up. Edward sat by his son's bedside and asked him to open his eyes so he could tell his boy how much he loved him. Alice entered and offered comfort to Edward. Then, Tracy came in and asked for a moment alone with her brother. With her trademark cold-hearted bravado, Tracy unflinchingly let her brother know she cared. As she left, Tracy told Monica to give Alan a reason to keep on living. Alone with her husband, Monica told Alan she was a lousy wife and felt responsible for his condition. She apologized for not being able to fix his heart. As she broke down and admitted he was the true love of his life, Alan opened his eyes and spoke her name.

In the hospital corridor, Ric pressed Skye for answers and pointed out that Craig's employer will be probably be making a move soon. Back in Alcazar's room, his cell rang. Skye instructed her amnesiac beau on what to say.

In the Metro Court lobby, Sonny demanded to know if Carly still loved him. She said, "Ask me again if we get through this." Sonny asked Jason to whisk Carly to safety but Mr. Craig walked over and tore the two of them away. In the office, Craig had the pair tied up. Sonny lied to Craig to prove his worth and said that Luke gave him the wrong code. Sonny vowed that he had the correct set of numbers but Craig was skeptical. After he left, Sonny told Carly to think — she knows Alcazar like no one else but Carly couldn't come up with anything viable. Then, after spotting a telephone keypad, Sonny realized that instead of numbers, 767, the first three digits, might be letters instead. When they went through the possibilities, Carly realized the code was the name of Alcazar's first love.

As Sam stared at a masked Jason, Mr. Craig caught her gaze and wanted to know what she was looking at. Jason managed to evade suspicion.... At the hospital, Patrick's bigoted landlord made it through his operation.

Maxie and Three shared a lighthearted exchange in the sweltering vault. Maxie was making the best of it, as she discussed her life with the cute gunman. Three said he believed there was much more to Maxie than she was giving herself credit for and encouraged her dream of becoming a fashion writer.

Father Mateo kept a watchful eye on a bleeding Max, despite the taunts of one of Craig's men. The thug then pistol-whipped the priest and punched him, and dared Mateo to turn the other cheek. Mateo stabbed him instead.

Georgie noted Dillon's unspoken concern for Lulu.... Patrick blamed himself for Alcazar's memory loss.... As Spinelli hacked away to open the vault, Lulu asked him to stall. Later, Spinelli managed to crack the program. Jason advised him to open the vault in secret.

During Luke's stand-off with Mr. Craig, Nikolas asked Luke to surrender the code for Lulu's sake. As Craig was about to put the trigger, Luke shouted out a fake code. Skye told Ric that Luke was bluffing, since no one knows the last three numbers. Craig bought the act. Safely back inside, Nik calmed his little sis.

In the O.R., Russell took over Alan's surgery for Monica after she froze, saying she was too emotionally involved. Monica took a break and then carried on. Russell reminded Monica that even a brilliant cardiologist can't save a failing heart.

In the lobby, as Jason took aim at Mr. Craig, one of the other thugs cut him off. When the thug told Craig that "Five" was getting tired, Sonny diverted Craig's attention away from the disguised Jason. When Sonny tried to guarantee a safe escape for Craig, he shot Sonny, then he ordered "Five" to take Lulu to the office. Once inside the office, Jason revealed his presence to Lulu. Upset, she started swatting at him, but Jason managed to calm her down and explained the problem with the code. He vowed to get her out safely. Jason took Lulu to Spinelli and ordered the geek to get her out of the hotel. Just then, Craig showed up. He was pleased at "Five's" work in capturing Spinelli. Craig ordered "Five" to shoot Spinelli, but Lulu got him a reprieve by blurting out that he could open the vault.

Back on the street, Mac said he was taking back charge of the operation. Luke told Lucky that he couldn't see Elizabeth in the lobby, then Luke told Skye he was disappointed in her. Mac got a search warrant to search Alcazar's for the correct code, as an upset Skye apologized to Dillon and headed off to G.H.

In the hospital waiting area, the Q's bickered while awaiting word on Alan. "I'm usually the one being operated on," noted Edward, who regretted his past belittlings of Alan. "I treated him like an embarrassment." As Tracy tried to reassure her father that Alan would make it, Edward apologized for not spending more time with his kids. "You're Quartermaines," he sighed. "I wanted you to be tough." Skye arrived, but Edward and Tracy held her responsible for the hostage crisis and Edward told her that she and Lila Rae were no longer a part of their family. Skye spat back that he could insult her but leave her baby alone. Monica showed up and told the family that Alan's prognosis was bleak.

In the lobby, Sam supported Liz during her abdominal pains, and Liz apologized to Sam for all the bad things she had said about her in the past. Sam chuckled, saying it was not like she wasn't provoked. The girls talked about Jason, unaware that he was listening nearby. A distraught Georgie showed up, told Mac that she saw Luke on TV and demanded answers. He told her that Robin's still alive but there has been no word at all on Maxie.

Sonny was just grazed, thank goodness. Carly recalled her past with Jax as they watched the clock tick.... Luke told Dillon that he folded with Lulu because he was thinking as a parent.... Craig brought Spinelli to the lobby, where Sonny verified his hacking skills.... Robin regained consciousness and told Emily and Nik not to worry about her.... Dillon confessed to Luke that he couldn't imagine his life without Lulu.... Sonny told Carly to make a run for it when she was able.... Georgie vented her rage and fear to Lucky, accusing him of being a loser and using her sister.... Craig ordered Spinelli to open the vault. Lulu apologized for getting "The Jackal" into this mess.

Dillon and Georgie agreed to be scared together.... Tracy updated Luke on Alan and she thanked him for getting Alan out of the hotel. "I owed you one," he replied. They hugged.... Ric showed up at the hospital and lent Skye a sympathetic shoulder about not being good enough for their families.... Nik told Emily he loved her.... Sonny told Carly the same. He asked his wife to marry him for real.... Liz realized she doesn't have a will.... Craig told Spinelli that if he wasn't successful in opening the vault, he'd kill Lulu.... Sam recognized Jason.

4 Hours Earlier — 1 a.m.

As Alan emerged from the hotel amidst gunfire and collapsed due to his heart attack, Luke broke a window and he and Lucky leapt out to Alan's rescue and dragged him to safety. Monica was frantic when she reached her husband, as he didn't have a pulse. At home, Edward, Tracy, Dillon and Alice watched the commotion on TV and raced out of the mansion to get to G.H. Alan was revived and Monica accompanied him to the hospital. Lucky and Luke came clean about their heroics to Ric, while Mac backed the "reckless" Spencer boys. But, Ric laid into Lucky about endangering Elizabeth and the baby.

At the hospital, Skye desperately tried to jog Alcazar's memory in order to recall the combination to the briefcase. Epiphany then informed Skye about Alan's situation.

Inside the hotel, Emily had a meltdown believing Alan may have been killed. She nearly ripped off a disguised Jason's mask, but knowing his true identity, Carly prevented Em from accomplishing the task. Craig ordered everyone to the floor and instructed Six to take Lulu into the back room. Sonny ordered Carly to keep her cool for the sake of their sons. The sniper informed Craig that there were two interlopers (Luke and Lucky), who infiltrated the building and sent the thugs to roam the hotel on lookout.

At the hospital, the Q's gathered as Alan was brought in. Monica blasted Skye for her complicity with Alcazar and blamed them for Alan's condition.

After Lulu was thrown into the back room, Spinelli emerged from hiding and Lulu embraced him. Spinelli wanted them to escape but Lulu refused to leave the other hostages behind. Lulu took Spinelli's gun and entered the hall, where a thug was waiting. Lulu surrendered the gun and was brought back to the lobby as Spinelli laid in wait.

In the vault, Three nodded off and Maxie pulled off his mask. He was angry at first, but his warm connection to Maxie calmed him down. He admitted that he didn't want to kill her and she promised not to turn against him. Maxie hatched a plan for her and Three to escape together once the vault opened. Then, Maxie opened up to Three about her past with Lucky.

Back in the lobby, Elizabeth's pains grew worse, and Sam did her best to keep her calm. Carly spoke in code to reveal to Sonny that Jason was nearby.... Nikolas tried to calm Emily by talking about their future and how they'd take Monica and Alan to dinner in Venice, Italy, once the crisis was over.

In the OR, Monica insisted on performing Alan's surgery, despite Russell's orders. During the procedure, Monica voiced her support to her ailing hubby. In the waiting area, Dillon tried to calm Tracy, to no avail. If anything happened to Alan, she vowed revenge on Skye and Alcazar. Edward echoed his daughter's sentiments.

Skye showed up at the hotel and revealed the three digits of the code to Luke. Spencer volunteered to trade himself and the code for the hostages. When Luke grabbed a bullhorn, Ric ordered him shot but Mac intervened. Luke offered Craig a deal — he and the code in exchange for the hostages. Craig grabbed Lulu, brought her to the front door and put a gun to her head. He told Luke that the choice should be easy.

The Q's went to Alcazar's room and demanded answers. Despite his sincere intent, Alcazar couldn't remember the combination. In the OR, Alan flatlined. Russell told Monica that if she wants the patient to live, she'd let him take over.... Craig ordered Luke to surrender the code or Lulu would die. Inside, Jason took aim at Craig.

Now inside the hotel, Luke had to slap an emotional Lucky in order to keep him calm after his son nearly lost it because he was worried sick about Elizabeth and the baby. Lucky regained his focus and said father and son would stick together through the ordeal.

As Sonny was held at gunpoint, Craig walked in and interrupted the fracas. He rescinded his previous execution order — for now. Still in hiding, Spinelli fantasized that he had saved Sonny and got to kiss Lulu, who called him her hero. Just then, Sonny was called back into the lobby. Afterward, Spinelli emerged and Jason returned through the air vent. One of the thugs entered and caught Spinelli in plain sight.

At the Q mansion, Monica, Edward and Alice watched the news and fretted about the hostage situation, frustrated that no new information was available. Tracy and Dillon entered with word that one hostage would be released. The discussion shifted to why Alan and Lulu were in the hotel lobby. That's when Dillon spoke up and confessed all about Lulu's investigation. During the exchange, Monica admitted that while she loved Rick all those years ago, Alan was the true love if her life. Dillon was skeptical about Monica's admission but saw his family in a new light after hearing Monica, Alan and Tracy talk about the past and the importance of family. Monica decided to go to the hotel so, when Alan emerged, she could tell him how much she loved him.

In the Metro Court lobby, Mr. Craig forced Emily to make a decision on who to save — Alan or Elizabeth. Craig allowed Emily to examine the patients before making her decision. Alan insisted to Emily that she choose Elizabeth to be the hostage to be released. They shared a warm exchange, then Em examined Liz. She claimed she was fine — send out Alan. Liz tearfully reminded Em that if she went into labor, they'd still have hours before the baby was born. Craig grew frustrated at Emily's indecision and shot Max in the shoulder. Emily piped up that she'd made up her mind.

Patrick punched Mayor Floyd when he spoke about "acceptable losses," in reference to Robin. Floyd ordered Mac to arrest Patrick. Mac refused. Epiphany called Patrick about an incoming patient, a drunk driver, but he hung up on her. New doc Russell showed up and ordered Patrick back to work. If he refused, Russell would have Patrick's medical license revoked, he barked. When he heard the identity of the drunk driver who was being brought into the hospital, Patrick called him an ignorant bigot, said no way and stood firm in his decision. Russell left in a huff. Shortly after, Patrick returned to G.H. to perform the operation, noting that it would be what Robin would want him to do.

Back in the hotel, Jason knocked the henchman out and put on his clothes and mask in order to blend in with the others. Jason headed out. The thug regained consciousness, but Spinelli hit him with his lap top and knocked him out again. Jason entered the lobby in disguise.

From a window, Luke and Lucky observed new police activity outside, wondering if it meant that hostages would be coming out. Downstairs, Emily chose Alan, but Craig insisted it was under the condition he had to walk out alone. Outside, the police spotted a sniper in one of the hotel windows. Alan barely managed to walk out of the lobby but as gunfire erupted, he suffered another heart attack. Mac had to hold back Monica, while Emily freaked out inside the lobby when she heard the gun shots. Alan clutched his chest as he started to lose consciousness. Inside, Carly recognized Jason, despite his disguise.
