Lizzie showed a comatose Alan a picture of Jonathan and Sarah and told him it was the family she could have had if Alan hadn't interfered. Lizzie wondered if she was getting what she deserved. "I know you are," she spat. Meanwhile, Cassie assured Josh that she felt better after re-enacting the night of Alan's shooting. She shared that Tammy came to her in a dream and said that she was at peace and wanted Cassie to be at peace too. Josh and Cassie exchanged "I love you"s and Cassie left to run errands. Lizzie approached Cassie on Main Street with an apology for Tammy's death. Lizzie explained she missed Tammy too and reminisced about shopping with Tammy. Cassie asked to hear more of Lizzie's stories about Tammy. Lizzie assured that she never meant for Tammy to get hurt and Cassie said that she believed that. They shared a tearful moment as Lizzie wondered how she could go on. Cassie returned home and told Josh about her encounter with Lizzie. Josh informed Cassie that his gun was missing. Cassie didn't remember taking the gun but worried that she had. Josh made it appear that the lockbox for the gun had been broken into and the weapon stolen. "I don't care about the law right now...what I care about is you," he explained. Cassie wondered if Josh believed she was guilty.

Lizzie got into the elevator at Towers, although it was off-limits as a crime zone. The power cut off and Lizzie was trapped. "I'm so sorry, Granddad!" Lizzie wailed as Marina and Mallet rescued her. The cops wondered what she meant. Marina noticed that a panel in the elevator ceiling was missing and she discovered a hidden gun.

Buzz told Coop that Alan-Michael wasn't pressing charges for the accident. Meanwhile, Alan-Michael threatened Alan's doctor that he would bring in a specialist for a second opinion. A-M fretted to Ava that the Spauldings would try to usurp him at the company during his recovery. Alan-Michael praised that he couldn't keep going without Ava and flirted that there were some things he wanted that he didn't get. Josh offered to buy Ava coffee. "I've had better weeks," Ava confided. "I've had better years," he replied. Josh asked about the investigation into Alan's shooting, which Alan-Michael overheard and blasted Josh for pumping Ava for information. A-M announced that he was sending Ava to work for Alexandra. She wondered if Alan-Michael was pushing her away because he didn't want her to see him be vulnerable. Alan-Michael kissed Ava's hand as Coop looked on. Coop apologized to Alan-Michael for his role in the accident and the men shook hands. Coop asked to speak to Ava and kissed her. Coop wondered if Ava wanted to be with Alan-Michael. Ava again asked for space but confided that she trusts Alan-Michael. Coop believed Alan-Michael was using Ava. In Alan's hospital room, Alan-Michael rose from his wheelchair and stood to adjust Alan's blanket. Alan-Michael mused that the accident was a blessing in disguise.

Frank and Mallet were overwhelmed by the number of suspects in Alan's shooting. Frank cracked that comatose Blake was the only Springfield resident who wasn't a suspect. Meanwhile, Dinah revealed to Marina that Dinah was the victim of identity theft. Mallet worried the crime might be personal and asked Dinah to think about her enemies. Dinah told her beau she couldn't think of anyone who might be out to harm her, but then he called to check on the status of a prisoner. Frank and Marina enjoyed some father/daughter bonding. Marina refused to hand over the investigation of Remy to Mallet and he praised Marina's competence.

Lizzie wondered if Alan might die. "I don't know," Beth responded. Lizzie then asked how her mother would feel if Alan did die and she again answered, "I don't know." Doris and Ashlee returned to the mansion. Ashlee was confident that Alan would get better. "I've never had a dad before," she reasoned. Doris forbade Beth and Lizzie from spending any time outside of the east wing of the mansion, though their bedrooms were in the south wing. When Beth balked, Doris summoned a police officer to escort Beth from the manse. Beth worried that the cop would "hurt the baby" and announced that she was pregnant. Doris wanted Beth to take a pregnancy and paternity tests to prove the child was Alan's. Ashlee warmly congratulated Beth and beamed that a baby was just what the family needed. Ashlee wondered what would happen if Alan died, and Doris said it would mean they could probably stay in the mansion. Lizzie and Beth saw Lillian at the hospital, where Beth confessed to her mother that it might be better if Alan didn't wake up.

Harley was upset to learn from Daisy's guidance counselor that the teen walked out of class. Harley ordered that they would talk to the counselor together about how Daisy could be more challenged by her coursework. Harley was proud of how she handled the situation. Later, Harley sought parenting advice from Frank, while Gus caught Daisy trying to run away. Gus and Daisy went to a movie, and Harley returned home to find Daisy's backpack on the floor. She tracked Daisy and Gus to Main Street. Harley yelled at Daisy and told her they had to be able to talk to each other. Daisy and Harley fought, but the teen hugged Gus and told him that she had a good time with him.

At a deserted Outskirts, Reva fondled Jonathan's favorite T-shirt and flashed back to his goodbye. She studied a newspaper headline: "Alan Spaulding Shot." "Is Alan still shot?" Billy asked. "Still deserving," she replied. "Alan deserves not to survive this." While searching for a recipe, Cassie discovered a childhood drawing by Tammy, then flashed back to buying her wedding dress. Josh interrupted her reverie to note he heard her talking to someone who wasn't there yesterday. She admitted she was talking to Tammy. She knows it's only in her head, but she doesn't want Tammy's ghost to go away. Josh asked her to seek counseling. Cassie went to the hospital all right, but not to speak to Felicia; she sneaked into Alan's room. Josh went to Outskirts (which still had no customers) to tell Reva of his concerns about Cassie. As Josh voiced his fears, Cassie was seen fingering Alan's medical equipment. "Open your eyes, you son of a bitch," she growled, tugging on his respirator. A sudden beeping stopped her from doing anything more. Reva told Josh she knows about Cassie's visions of Tammy. Josh wondered if Tammy is telling Cassie to do things. At that moment, Tammy's ghost appeared in Alan's room to tell her mother it's going to be okay, but Cassie slapped Alan — just as Reva arrived. "It's not what it looks like," Cassie claimed. The two mothers compared notes on grief, then Reva dragged her sister out of there.

Later, Reva returned to (customerless) Outskirts, where Billy demanded an explanation for a Towers parking ticket from the exact time of Alan's wedding — the exact time Alan was shot. Meanwhile, on Main Street, Josh scolded Cassie for her hospital hijinks. She was distraught that he could suspect her of shooting Alan, but admitted she isn't certain she's innocent herself. Josh suggested the only one way to be sure: "We're going to go shoot Alan." He insisted on recreating the night of the shooting, step-by-step. They recalled she came home upset, and she revealed she had a wedding invite. Then the scene jumped to an elevator at Towers. At that moment, Reva admitted to Billy that she was at Towers — to have dinner by herself. Billy warned her she'll need a better excuse. At a strangely deserted Towers, Cassie retraced her steps: She approached Alan and pulled out not a gun, but a photo of Tammy. Josh guided Cassie into the stopped elevator car in which Alan was shot and started roleplaying Alan, provoking Cassie to tears. She merely pushed him away and restarted the elevator. Reva told Billy she got in Alan's face, but didn't shoot him. "Someone else had that honor."

Back home, Cassie wondered if she could have done the deed and not remembered it. Josh suggested tossing her pills, but Cassie flipped: "I don't want to get better," she howled, because she feared losing the visions of Tammy. He assured her she won't lose Tammy, or him, She gave him the pills. Later, Cassie confessed she pondered revenge scenarios like stealing Josh's gun and shooting Alan over Tammy's open grave at the funeral or sneaking into the Spaulding mansion and carving him up with a knife. Josh said it was a good sign because she didn't shoot him at the funeral. She was still skeptical, but thanked him for his support. Meanwhile, Billy told Reva all the signs point to Cassie as the shooter, or maybe Josh. Reva said only Alan knows who shot him, as she tore up her incriminating parking ticket.

Cassie fell asleep and saw Tammy, who told her she has to go, but, "I will always be right here, in your heart." As she faded away, Cassie said, "Bye, sweetie." As Josh watched Cassie sleep he had a horrible thought and ran to check on his gun. It was gone.

Daisy reluctantly agreed to volunteer at the hospital at Harley's urging, but Daisy bailed when the hospital volunteer coordinator hit on her. Reva saw Doris giving a press conference about Alan's shooting and left a message for Josh to see if he and Cassie were okay. Reva went to the hospital to check on Alan and told Alexandra that though she hadn't committed the crime, she wanted to shake the hand of whoever shot him. Daisy told Reva what had happened with her volunteer job and Reva took her granddaughter home to Gus and Harley's place. Meanwhile, Gus refused Ava's request that he help find Alan's shooter. Harley was angry that Daisy hadn't come to her with her problem at the hospital, but Gus comforted the teen. Reva spied herself in the back of a photo from Alan and Doris' wedding.

Frank learned that Remy had worked on the security team at Alan's wedding and blasted Marina for giving Remy preferential treatment. Frank asked Remy if he shot Alan Spaulding, but Mel showed up to act as her brother's layer and refused to let him answer.

Ava urged Alan-Michael to rest, but he was intent on finding his father's shooter. When Ava left the room, he made a mysterious phone call, telling someone that his father was still alive. Alex and Beth were upset to learn that Alan-Michael had drawn up documents to ensure that he maintained control of the Spaulding assets. Ava defended A-M, but Alex said that Alan-Michael was only different from his father because A-M got caught in his deception. Alan was listed in critical condition and Doris insisted that she be the only person to receive reports on his progress.
