GL Recaps Week of April 16, 2007

Friday, April 20, 2007
Coop read the paper at Company, flashing over suspicious comments from Ashlee that just screamed, "I shot Alan," and Lizzie came by. Coop claimed to be writing a new story about his ex. Meanwhile, at CO2, guilty Ashlee wanted Billy to take a care package to Josh for her. "It's tough," Billy sighed of Josh's predicament. Coop got the scoop, questioning Lizzie about Alan's shooting and Ashlee's odd behavior. Intuition finally kicking in, Coop booked it out of there and went to interview Ashlee for his "story." Ashlee got progressively more agitated as Coop used the paper headline about Josh's sentence as a visual aid and harangued her. "Did you shoot Alan?" he demanded, finally.

In the Windy City, Alan was pouring himself a drink when Cassie popped up in his room. She apparently had a present for his new baby. "This is a show of good will," she claimed, wanting Alan to use his influence to spring Josh from prison. The present, a snow globe of Springfield's lighthouse, led them both to philosophize about loss. Of course, it all went south when Cassie started talking to Tammy's ghost (no Stephanie Gatschet sightings, sorry) and Alan booted Cassie out. Lizzie and Roxie came to visit Alan in Chicago next, sighing about how everyone wants to use her. She spotted the lighthouse, puzzled. Alan related Cassie's strange visit and Lizzie pointed out that losing your daughter was no picnic. Elsewhere, Cassie was stunned when Billy told her Reva went to visit Josh. "Josh and Reva are just friends!" Billy assured Cassie (no, she didn't buy that either) as they broke open some popcorn and speculated. Lizzie pointed out that Beth's baby could be "Uncle Rick's" and Alan wanted to make sure she was on his side of the paternity debate. "Haven't we learned our lesson?" she sighed, before joining Team Alan. Obsessing, Cassie called Reva's phone, but no one picked up.

Reva and Josh downed some contraband hooch and toasted to each other. Progressively drunker and giddy, they cracked up when the prison locked down! The blaring siren reminded them of teenage nookie at the Oklahoma U stadium. Of course, Josh mentioned RJ and killed the buzz. Reva killed it further by forking over a letter from Cassie. She stepped out so Josh could read it. Cue Cassie's voiceover and her image appearing to act out the letter. Outside, Reva made not-so-nice with Vinnie Salerno, who mocked her "congenital visit," and made threats. Reva let herself in to find drunk Josh all weepy over Cassie and 15 years without her. Reva tried to lift his spirits, but Josh grew angry, demanding that she leave. "I'm not going anywhere!" Reva cried, trying to keep him afloat. Josh grabbed her, begging her to let him go and as she cried, "Never!" he kissed the stuffing out of her. The clothes flew off and the breathing got heavy as they hit the prison-issue sheets.

Where did Josh and Reva play their drinking game?

"What am I doing?" Reva sighed. Cassie wondered the same thing. Reva explained she had planned to see Josh again but had reconsidered. Cassie wanted Reva's assurance that everything would be okay. Lizzie approached Cassie, hoping to find a way for everyone to get along. Cassie wondered if the baby Beth was carrying was even Alan's child. "Does it matter?" Lizzie shrugged. Billy tried to talk to Cassie about Josh, but she blew him off. Cassie followed Alan to Chicago and bribed a hotel employee to rent her the room next to his.

Billy visited Josh in prison and informed his brother that he would be sent to solitary confinement for his own protection. Josh worried about the effects of a stint in solitary after seeing his cellmate's response to the isolation. Still, Josh cracked that it couldn't be any worse than the time Billy locked him in the tool shed. Reva visited Josh and told him she knew he was pushing Cassie away. When Josh bristled at Reva's claim that he was being selfless, she joked: "Somebody has to be. It sure as hell ain't going to be me." Josh wanted to make the most of their time together before solitary but quickly reconsidered, worried that seeing her might make things worse. "This is exactly my kind of dive, Buster, and reservations are very hard to come by," claimed Reva. She busted out a bottle of liquor, which she received from a guard. "This is about you and me and a big old bottle of bourbon. God help us both!" she grinned.

Marina regained consciousness and accused Cyrus of making up his sob story. They heard the cops outside of the warehouse, and Cyrus fled, leaving Marina bleeding on the floor. Medics came to rescue Marina after receiving an anonymous call. Cyrus watched from the shadows as Marina was rushed to the hospital. After speaking to her doctor, Frank assured Marina that she would be fine. When Marina recounted the details of her shooting, Frank realized he shot his own daughter. Marina assured that Frank was the best dad ever, even if he was "a lousy shot." She revealed to Frank that she got the money back from Cyrus, but Frank discovered that the cash was missing from the suitcase. Frank wanted revenge on Cyrus, but Marina protested that the crook saved her.

Frank revealed to Mallet and Dinah that Cyrus stole the money with the aid of a woman. When he failed to reach her again, Mallet feared that Marina might have been near the warehouse shootout. Vanessa and Matt argued about his decision to borrow money from a loan shark. When he revealed that he had used Maureen's trust fund as collateral for the loan, Vanessa kicked Matt out. Matt came to Dinah and Mallet's room, demanding to know where Cyrus was. Mallet got a call that Marina had been found and Dinah sent him to check on his partner. Vanessa showed up to bring Matt his suitcase.

Cyrus, Marina and Dinah's voiceovers kicked off the episode, as they all rhapsodized about the lure of money. Marina then came upon Cyrus on Main Street. She profiled the ex-thief (a.k.a. "flirted" with), reading aloud from a criminology book. Offended Cyrus denied stealing Matt and Vanessa's cash. He called Dinah to complain about his perky little tail. "Relax," she directed. Not so relaxed was Marina. "You're making it really hard for us to nail this guy," Mallet told her. "Just chill out!" he said, ushering her into a surprise birthday party. Back at the Beacon, Cyrus asked Dinah to don a wig and go grab his cash from the bank, "like the good ol' days." (Cue a flashback of said days where Dinah was dressed like a reject from West Side Story.) In the present, Vanessa walked in on Dinah sporting a blonde wig. Vanessa cracked up at Dinah's excuse of considering "role-playing" with Mallet but she wasn't laughing when she related her and Matt's rift. Dinah made excuses to get rid of her mom and then Cyrus emerged from his hiding place.

Back at Company, Marina noted her actual birthday was weeks away. She caught up with Remy while a poorly disguised Cyrus and Dinah chatted up the guy from Springfield National on Main Street (naturally). "That banker saw right through me," Dinah muttered after the meeting. Fortunately, they were home free. Cue a montage of Cyrus counting his dough and Marina blowing out her candles. Cyrus and Dee Dee adjourned to a shady warehouse to disrobe and argue. Later at the Beacon, Cyrus touted their score and flashed back on how they'd once celebrated such scams. In the present, Cyrus returned Dinah's bracelet and told Dee Dee he was "pushing off." "I'll try to control my tears," Dinah snorted as he left. At Marina's party, Frank got word of a massive withdrawal from Springfield National. He told Marina to sit tight. Of course, when Mallet revealed Dinah had planned her surprise shindig, Marina's hackles rose even higher. Breathless Dinah arrived and made her excuses to clueless Mallet.

At the shady warehouse, Cyrus sniffed his money as Marina approached. When Vanessa and Matt showed up at Company (rife with tension) and Marina turned up missing, Dinah got twitchy. At the warehouse, Marina burst in on Cyrus guns ablazin'. (Can't they just make out?) Actually, Cyrus was totally contemplating making out with her, but Marina was feeling more business-minded. Outside, Frank pulled out the megaphone and pontificated, which distracted the duo inside. Marina fired her gun and ended up being hit by a stack of boxes while Cyrus ran for it. But no, wait, he came back for her! (He loves her!) Back at Company, as Mallet spilled the news of Cyrus' heist, Matt revealed their dire financial straits to Vanessa. Their backer, Finch, was apparently one bad dude. Proving that he is totally gone for her, Cyrus dropped his bag o' cash, de-boxed Marina and crouched over her. "You're under arrest," Marina whispered weakly as he begged her to stay awake. He proceeded to tell unconscious Marina his whole life story instead of doing something useful like calling 911. The sob story actually woke her up enough to admire his shiny dog tags...but they still didn't make out.

Dylan and Harley arrived at the hospital. Daisy tried to make a speedy exit, but Harley demanded to know what happened. Dylan explained that the police believed the fire to be an accident and announced that Daisy had claimed to be Gus' girlfriend when he was admitted. Daisy covered that she only lied so that the hospital would allow her to be by Gus' side. Gus tried to choke out something about Daisy to Harley. Dylan asked Daisy if the fire was Gus' fault, and she lied that he took pain pills before the blaze. Dylan told Harley that Gus caused the fire when he was high. Gus woke, and Daisy explained that she prayed for him. Dylan promised Daisy she wasn't going anywhere, and Gus told Harley the fire "was all me."

Jeffrey tried to pay off Alan-Michael to stay away from Ava, but the Spaulding refused. Alan-Michael offered Olivia a deal: He wanted them to retake the company together. Olivia set Alan-Michael free. She claimed that she had wasted too much time on Alan-Michael and Jeffrey. Jeffrey watched a family together and fantasized about sharing a warm moment with Olivia and Ava. Alan-Michael accused Jeffrey of having feelings for Olivia.

Ava told Buzz that she wanted to be friends with Coop, and Buzz welcomed her back to "Cooperland" (which sounds like a theme park). Ashlee continued to critique Coop's story, saying he couldn't understand a murderer because he was "a guy who has never done anything wrong." Ava passed Coop a note explaining that she was sorry. As Ashlee watched the former lovers interact, she accidentally poured salt on the counter. "He doesn't need to listen to me when he could look at her," Ashlee lamented to Buzz. Ava made a pitch to Coop that they become friends. "You chose a lifestyle over me...Honestly, I think less of you for it," Coop warned. Ava told Coop that Alan-Michael hid the weapon used to shoot Alan in the mansion. Coop claimed that Ava sounded like her mother when she explained her ambitions at Spaulding, which didn't have to be a bad thing. They agreed to be friends and shook hands on it. Coop asked Ashlee for help with his story and she refused. He apologized for neglecting her when Ava visited. Ashlee was about to confess something to Coop just as Doris walked in. Olivia confided to Buzz that she and Jeffrey had abducted Alan-Michael. Buzz promised he wasn't angry but didn't want Jeffrey to be part of their life together.

Alan-Michael tried to convince Ava to help him take down Alan, even bribing her with Spaulding stock, but she decided to work for Alan instead. Ava lamented that she couldn't believe she almost... "Almost fell in love with me," he finished. Alan-Michael warned that the fall from the top was a hard one. Meanwhile, Alan asked Beth to marry him again and she happily agreed. Rick announced to Alan that the baby was his and blasted Beth for making him think they could have a life together. "You're not even a shell of the woman I used to know," Rick spat. Rick left in a huff, and Alan wondered if what Rick said was true. Beth reluctantly admitted that it was. Alan kissed her and promised that the baby would be their new beginning. Alan-Michael congratulated Alan on having another child to despise him. "This child will be worthy of my love," Alan snarked. Beth showed up at Rick's door where he presented her with an order for a paternity test.

Jeffrey and Olivia had a tense conversation about their troubled history and just as he was preparing to leave, Ava stormed in wanting help from her parents. Olivia suggested they go after Alan-Michael, but Ava insisted that she could take care of things on her own and left. Olivia and Jeffrey reluctantly decided to work together to bring Alan-Michael down. They surprised Alan-Michael at his Beacon room and bound and gagged him.

Harley confided that she was afraid of losing Daisy, while Cassie fretted because Josh wouldn't see her. Harley urged Cassie not to listen to Josh and to visit him anyway. Dylan arrived and announced to Harley that he would be staying in Springfield permanently. Harley confessed that she sent Daisy to boot camp. Dylan worried that Gus wasn't a good role model for Daisy. Cassie spotted Ava and was furious to learn the young woman was now working for Alan. Cassie stole one of Ava's papers — Alan's itinerary — and decided to stalk him.

Gus upset Daisy by claiming that her feelings for him were nothing more than a crush and explaining that he still intended to send her to boot camp. When Gus left the room, Daisy drugged his hot chocolate. Daisy lied that she was already over her feelings for him. Gus groggily called Harley. Gus passed out, and Daisy lit candles and snuggled up to him. She fell asleep and the curtains lit on fire. Daisy awoke and a medical team evacuated Gus. At the hospital, Daisy told the nurse that she was Gus' girlfriend.
