GL Recaps Week of June 4, 2007

Friday, June 8, 2007
Picking up from yesterday, Gus tried to break up the scuffle between Rafe and the juvie guard just as Harley arrived to tell him to stop, informing him that Rafe was his son! Rafe didn't believe it and was led away, while a stunned Gus wondered why Nat didn't tell him the truth before. Harley attempted to comfort Gus, then Nat walked in. She was mostly upset that Rafe didn't find out from her; Gus demanded an explanation. Meanwhile, Ashlee and Daisy teased each other about their crushes.

At the Spaulding manse, Alan attempted to pamper Beth, who was impatiently waiting for Lizzie to show up. They'd made plans for a trip. Beth covered when Alan asked about her plans, claiming she was having lunch with Lizzie. She balked when Alan suggested she get permission from him before making any big arrangements at all. He said he was only trying to protect her and the child. Overwhelmed by his attention and clearly annoyed by how he tracked her every move, Beth begged Alan to let her spend some time alone with Lizzie and kicked him out of the room.

At the docks, Reva apologized to an unconscious Liz for chloroforming her, claiming she didn't have a choice. Then she called Jonathan and said she did what he asked her to. Worried, Reva asked a bound Lizzie if she got seasick then promised a spa day for the two of them when it was all over. Someone later arrived in a boat and took Lizzie away, as Reva waved good-bye.

Back at juvie, Rafe spoke to Daisy through the vents, saying that he hated everyone, except for her of course. He said he was going to try to get out of there, then the guard came to take him away. Meanwhile, Gus and Natalia hashed things out. Gus admitted that if he had known, he would've married Natalia and been a devoted father. After Harley split so the duo could talk in private, Nat explained to him that she didn't want to ruin his life by burdening him with a child. Gus realized he had much to catch up on as Nat handed over Rafe's baby pictures. They hugged and Gus left.

At company, Leah told Rick and Mel that she was concerned about her new baby sister and how it would all work out. Where would the baby live? Leah admitted that she was freaked out by the fact that her parents were getting divorced, but that Mel was still going to be Rick's attorney for the custody battle. Rick failed to explain his complicated relationship with Beth, but reassured Leah that nothing would come between them, then he bribed his daughter with his credit card. She left to buy him a Father's Day gift. Later on Main Street, Leah confronted Beth who was clearly uncomfortable by the teen's anger. Beth said she was only friends with Rick; Leah insinuated that the mommy-to-be was a tramp and a gold digger.

Alan showed up at Company and harassed Rick about all of his "bastard" children. Rick and Mel left, just as Reva walked in, called Alan a skunk railed at him because the check he wrote to the cancer foundation bounced. She humiliated him in front of everyone present for his lack of funds, then left with a laugh.

Back at the mansion, Beth told Alan he was smothering her and accused him of being just as obsessed with this baby as he was with Lizzie's. Alan brushed off her irritation, claiming that she was taking out her frustration with Liz on him. Then he found plane tickets and demanded to know where Beth was going. She claimed she was going to visit Mindy Lewis in Paris. Surprisingly, he bought the story, hugged Beth and thanked her for changing her plans to stay at home with him.

Over ice cream on Main Street, Rick thanked Mel for her support as they discussed the inevitable custody battle. Mel reminded her ex that Alan wasn't the only person he would be fighting and warned that he better be prepared to fight Beth, too. Meanwhile, at a mysterious location, Reva laid Lizzie down on a bed and told her everything was going to be okay.

The juvie guard informed Nat that Rafe had been transferred to a holding cell at the police department. Rafe sat alone in the cell ... then Gus walked in.

What hobby did Beth say she was going to take up?

At juvie, Rafe and Daisy continued to flirt via the grates in the vent. Daisy thanked him for stealing chocolate from the guard for her earlier, adding that things would be miserable without him there. Later on Harley paid her daughter a visit, but Daisy was too distracted by Rafe's presence.

Over dinner at Company, Gus told Alan that he wasn't taking sides in the baby snafu, but admitted that he's worried about his dad. Gus tried to relate with his own baby Sydney situation, but Alan said there was no way he could ever understand. Beth's baby was Alan's final chance to do something right for once. Later, Alan hassled his son about helping Natalia out, teasing that the first love is always the hardest to get over.

Back at Cedars, Rick tried to engage Beth in a serious conversation about the baby while she waited for Alan to arrive at her appointment. He demanded to have a place in the child's life, adding, "Alan can drop dead!" Then he handed her a hospital ID and told her if she ever changed her mind about being with Alan, she had options. Rick stayed with Beth after Dr. Sedgwick showed up and when Alan finally arrived the two daddies-to-be argued and traded barbs until the doc threatened to throw them both out of the room.

At the docks, Lizzie gushed to Reva about the "performance" she was working on to help raise funds for the cancer society. Then she showed Reva some baby clothes she purchased, covering that she really bought them for Beth's baby before deciding to just give them to charity instead. Reva gave her a comforting hug and said under her breath, "I can't do this...." Liz confessed that Reva was an inspiration to her because she remained so strong after Jon and Sarah's death. Suddenly, Reva put a chloroformed rag over Lizzie's mouth. She passed out as Reva apologized.

Back at juvie, Rafe was roughed up by a guard, who found out that the kid had stolen from him. When the guard made a crack about Natalia, Rafe attacked the guard, swiped his gun and pointed it at him. Just then, Gus walked in and trained his own gun on Rafe to save the guard, Harley showed up, begged Gus not to shoot and told him that the boy is his son.

At Cross Creek, Reva was rearranging her furniture when Josh showed up at her door, telling her that he needed to spend the night there with her. Alone. Cassie, meanwhile, tried prevent herself from thinking about Josh and Reva together by eating ice cream and watching TV.

Understandably confused, Reva asked Josh if he really wanted to open Pandora's box again and wondered what Cassie thought about him being there. Josh admitted that Cassie sent him so they could take care of their "unfinished business." Surmising that Josh had only shown up to please Cassie, Reva slammed the door in his face, but later let him back in after he called her a chicken and a coward. The duo agreed to a couple rounds of cards and whiskey, then Reva would kick Josh out. Later, Josh was stunned when he found Reva's stack of their old love letters to each other. Once they realized they were short on poker chips, they used the letters for betting. Emotions ran high (they laughed and cried) as they read a few of the letters aloud and watched home videos of their weddings. Reva tearfully asked Josh why they weren't together, even after he admitted he truly loves her craziness. He said that Cassie gives him the comfort and safety he needs. Reva, however, couldn't let go of the feeling that perhaps they still really have something together that is beyond their control.

Clearly tipsy, Reva suggested they eat something so they made a couple of sandwiches which led to a brief and very silly argument about what condiments Josh hates. Things quickly turned somber over ice cream when Josh admitted that the ultimate low for him was Shayne's accident way back when; Reva reminded him that it wasn't his fault and they shared a tender moment.

"What do you drink to when you've drunk to just about everything there is?" Josh asked as he poured a final nightcap. "Everything there is," Reva cracked and they made a toast. They continued to reminisce about their past and mused over the fact that they are where they are because of Reva's impromptu marriage to Billy long ago (go figure!). Then Reva declared that she wouldn't change anything about her tumultuous relationship with Josh, even if she had the opportunity to do it all over again.

The night turned sour when Josh left Cassie a message to remind her that he loves her and that he misses her, adding that he owes it to Reva to stay at Cross Creek for the night and continue to work through their mess of problems. Reva overheard and railed at Josh, adding that she didn't need his pity. She blasted him for saying he wanted one last night alone without any strings attached, but then reaching out to Cassie. When Reva grew defensive Josh attempted to plead his case, informing her that she's just unable to handle people helping her out and loving her and that's why she's so miserable. He knew that she wished she could change who she is, but she can't. Hurt, Reva told him good-bye and kicked him out.

The next morning, Josh told a reluctant Cassie the details of his night with Reva, promising her that nothing really happened. He admitted he left Reva's place just after midnight and soon realized how blessed he is to have both sisters in his life, but he wants to be with Cassie. She was relieved and they started to kiss, but she couldn't get the image of Josh and Reva out of her head. Meanwhile, Alan paid Reva a visit. She pushed him into giving a seven-figure donation to the cancer society in the name of Jonathan and Sarah. Alan said he was sorry that Josh went back to Cassie. She shrugged, saying that she'll. Before he left, Alan advised her to not be a fool and suggested she continue to fight for what she wants.

On Main Street, Reva tearfully read another old love letter from Josh and tore it up. The pieces got caught in the wind and one that simply read "Faith" just happened to land near Cassie, who picked it up, smiled and ran back to a very surprised Josh. Cassie admitted she has trouble believing in fairytale endings, but she still has her faith in Josh. They kissed again and began making love.

Reva was startled awake by a nasty nightmare wherein Josh carried Cassie over the threshold at Cross Creek after their wedding, said his relationship with Reva was dead and carved their initials in the wall where it used to read "Josh + Reva Forever". "Time for a new life, time for a new fight," Reva concluded as she pulled out a new red dress. Later, Reva answered a phone call. It was Jonathan!

Natalia paid Rafe a visit at juvie, where he was on mop duty. She chided her son for misbehaving and reminded him that if he really wanted to get out, then he needed to stop initiating fights with the guards. When she saw a scrape on Rafe's forehead, she demanded to know what happened.... The juvie girls swooned over their crushes. Ashlee teased Daisy about always looking for bad boys. Daisy countered that she was really worried about Rafe since his fight. Ashlee, meanwhile, had her own troubles. She was preparing for her first meeting with her counselor and was freaked out because Doris was scheduled to show up as well. She predicted a disaster. Later, Daisy called Ashlee out on liking Coop and advised her that if she does, she should just tell him. Ashlee grew flustered by the notion that she becomes "glowy" around Coop and concluded that he really doesn't like her in that kind of way so it would be pointless to tell him.

On Main Street, Marina complained to Remy about how overprotective her dad and grandfather are being about keeping her away from Cyrus. Meanwhile, Frank told Harley she was overreacting about the Natalia situation. Harley called Nat a liar and reiterated that she wouldn't have any problem trying to run her out of town (first by getting her fired from Company). Frank was appalled when she confessed that she snooped around in Natalia's car. Harley used the bundle of old love letters from Gus as reason enough to want Nat gone. She also pointed out that Gus is in Chicago again for his ex. Frank called his sister crazy; she admitted that she may be blowing it all out of proportion.

Back at the detention center, Nat wrapped up her visit with Rafe and was about to leave when Daisy spotted her and wondered if she had shown up to visit her. Nat covered, claiming she stopped by to say hi. Daisy apologized for making such a mess of things for Natalia, Gus and Harley. Just then, Harley walked in, stunned to find her new enemy conversing with her daughter. Arms crossed and defensive, Harley pulled rank, told Daisy to go wait in her room and informed Natalia that she was fired. The women bantered: Harley accused Nat of coming to town to take Gus away from her, using the old letters as proof. Nat was clearly livid, but kept her mouth shut about why she really came to Springfield. She promptly left to go clean out her locker at Company.

Coop arrived at Ava's to pick her up for their "business" dinner, but Ava had a different idea, suggested by her sexy outfit. Ava complimented Coop on his stellar writing skills for the Spaulding campaign; he was obviously flattered and the duo began to flirt as they headed to Company. Later, Alexandra eyed Ava on Main Street, informing her loyal driver Cyrus that Ava is her only pipeline to Spaulding Enterprises now that she and Alan are on the outs and Alan-Michael left town. "The way she looks, she doesn't have to do battle," Alex cracked before sailing off for a facial. Wide-eyed Cyrus later approached Ava, who assumed he was hitting on her. As it turns out, he swiped her PDA, which he dutifully handed it over to a stunned and grateful Alex. Cyrus went to wait in the limo, where he found Marina in the back seat. She called him out on stealing Ava's PDA. Cyrus wanted to know why Marina cares and why she keeps following him. She demanded the truth and Cyrus claimed he was just borrowing Ava's PDA. The duo began playing a flirty game of truth or dare. Marina revealed she used to date a Spaulding, a serial killer and even a mobster, which was all much to Cyrus's surprise..... Elsewhere, Alex warned Frank to quit harassing Cyrus, letting him know that he seemed pretty cozy with Marina these days. In fact, they were both in her car on Main Street right now. Frank immediately rushed out to interrupt Cyrus and Marina and warned his daughter that her job was on the line for fraternizing with Foley. Later, Alex thanked Cyrus for his help and gave him a fancy gold watch.

Once at Company, Coop and Ava traded barbs about his involvement in Spaulding matters. Ava told Coop that the the only reason he likes teaching at juvie is because it's the first job that came along. They were interrupted by a phone call from Daisy, who phoned Coop to inform him about Ashlee's big meeting. Surmising that Doris wouldn't show up at all, Coop volunteered to go in support of Ashlee. When Ava found out that Coop was ditching her, she suggested that Ashlee is really in love with him. Coop brushed off the comments..... Doris never showed up at juvie to support Ashlee, but luckily Coop appeared just in time. A grateful Ash, hugged Coop, then surprised him with a kiss. Before Coop could respond; a guard dragged Ashlee away. Meanwhile, Daisy and her Rafe talked through the vents. She tried to get him to open up, but he was shy. She passed him a note that read: "I'm on your side." Rafe smiled and later responded with a note of his own.

Remy told Natalia that she shouldn't let Harley walk all over her or fire her. When he approached Harley to tell her there was something she needs to know about Nat, she just rolled her eyes in disgust. Tensions rose and Remy accused Harley of being cruel, adding that there is a lot she doesn't know about Natalia. Harley challenged him to tell her. He showed her pictures of Rafe; Harley guessed that the boy is Gus's son!

At Company, Harley whined to Buzz (whose arm was in a sling) about Natalia. Buzz suggested Harley just talk to Nat, who was outside trying to start her car. Meanwhile, Gus approached a very distressed Natalia and tried yet again to get her to open up to him about her legal and financial woes. Gus gave Nat Mel's number and assured her that she could tell him anything, you know, because of their long history and because he still cares about her.

Harley went outside to find Natalia, but since she wasn't at her car, Harley took the opportunity to snoop. She found a map from Chicago to Springfield with directions to her own address and jumped to the conclusion that Natalia is on drugs — then she remembered that Nat came to town to visit Gus. She also found a picture of a very young Gus and a bundle of old letters, fueling her suspicions that Natalia wants him back. Harley phoned Buzz and asked for the scoop on Nat's previous employer. Later, she found Gus and Natalia taking a stroll down memory lane. Once Gus left, Harley asked if Natalia's friendship is sincere, noting that friends don't try to steal other friends' husbands. She also demanded to know why Natalia fled Chicago. Nat admitted that she was in a jam and thought she'd be able to escape it by moving. When Gus returned, suggesting that some creep named Cuozzo was the reason why she left, Nat claimed it was true. Gus and Nat shared a moment, leaving Harley annoyed. Harley later told Buzz that she was still uneasy with Nat's behavior because she clearly knew how to push her ex's buttons. She asked Buzz to fire Nat from Company.

Mallet was horrified to find Griggs, the man from his dark past, right at his front door. Griggs informed Mallet that Blake contacted him and knows far too much about their history. Mallet left with Griggs, then Matt stopped by to ask Dinah for advice on how to get Vanessa back. Dinah assured Matt that if she and Mallet could get beyond their own twisted issues, then Vanessa and Matt can surely overcome theirs.... Meanwhile, at the docks, Griggs reminded Mallet that the were a team (a.k.a. Tony) back in the day, before Mallet just split and left him hanging after his last assignment. Griggs warned that Mallet owed him far more than cash and suggested Dinah might be a fair trade. Mallet was outraged when Griggs threatened to spill everything unless they worked for him. He pulled a gun on Griggs, who was delighted to see Mallet's hate and anger had resurfaced. When Dinah came along, Griggs hid and Mallet was forced to cover about why he was down at the docks at all. Mallet was clearly spooked, which Dinah noticed.

Cassie told Josh she wants to marry him that very night, but she needs him to spend one more night alone with Reva before they can move forward. She explained that she wanted to give him the opportunity to get past his feelings for his ex once and for all. Josh balked and suggested that they could just skip town for a fresh start. Cassie argued that uprooting themselves just so he can avoid Reva was ludicrous. When Rev. Ruthledge arrived for the pending nups, Cassie informed him the wedding wouldn't be happening that night. Afterward, Cassie continued to press her fiancée. When Billy got wind of the scheme, he sided with Cassie, much to Josh's chagrin. Finally, a reluctant Josh gave in. He kissed Cassie good-bye and phoned his ex, saying they have some unfinished business.

Griggs continued to stalk Mallet, insisting they'd be even if he would just help him out one more time. If not, the entire happy life he'd built for himself and his "fine" wife would be destroyed. Mallet challenged Griggs to go ahead and blackmail him, but Griggs wanted to strike a deal. He handed Mallet a photo of the mark for his final job, who he said had borrowed money from some associates and never paid it back. The photo was of Matt!
