"What have you done, Cassie?" Josh queried after viewing his fiancée's incriminating evidence. Cassie remained unapologetic about the paternity switch, despite Josh's concern. Relieved that Josh finally knew, Cassie said that both Beth and the baby will be better off thinking Rick is the real daddy. "You're trying to play God," Josh warned. Cassie called herself fearless and begged Josh to drop the subject. Later, Cassie was elated to learn that Beth had asked her to be the baby's godparent. Still, she questioned Josh's trust and feared that he'd rat her out. Josh left to think things over.

Rick carried Beth over the threshold (again) at Company where they were surprised to see a bitter Mel, who already knew about the nups. She reluctantly wished the couple well, claimed she wasn't angry and left. Beth, however, knew better and went to apologize to her foe.

At the Spaulding mansion, Alan attempted to make friends with his grandson, who was amazed by the wealthy digs. When Alan offered Rafe a plate of snacks, he had to explain about his diabetes. The two bonded after Alan noted his disapproval of Gus and Harley as a couple, then Alan encouraged Rafe to bring Natalia by for a visit some time. Alan later explained some Spaulding family history; Rafe appeared genuinely interested in his granddad's hatred of all things Harley. Alan received a call from his lawyer, then shared his current woman-woes, claiming he really did want Beth back because he loved her. Later, Rick and Beth showed up. Alan traded barbs with Rick, who refused to let Spaulding ruin his happiness. Beth gathered her belongings and told Alan good-bye. When Rick and Alan got into a scuffle, Rafe told Rick to back off and sucker-punched him. Amused, Alan watched as his delinquent grandson struggled with his arch-enemy.

The Aitoro/Cooper clan set the table for dinner. Daisy still refused to talk to Harley, who spilled to Gus that Daisy knew Rafe from juvie and the duo was caught smooching. After Gus got the full story, Harley railed at Rafe (who wasn't even present) for stealing money from her; Daisy was forced to come clean about swiping the cash herself. A very confused Gus and Harley left to search for Rafe. They later showed up at Nat's to tell her about teens' fling; she forbid Rafe to return to Gus's home once he was found.

Back at the house, Daisy profusely apologized to Gus for not telling him about Rafe and admitted she was in love with him. Gus was eager to learn everything Daisy knew about his son, but reminded her that their "relationship" would never work out (they're family!). Daisy claimed she couldn't change her feelings for Rafe; Gus wasn't buying it.

Harley sat down with Josh at CO2 and the exes shared their troubles. Josh admitted he had a secret; Harley said she always found out about them the hard way....Harley and Gus heard about Rafe's fight with Rick and headed to the mansion, while a heartbroken Daisy went to visit Natalia and ask for her help. Much to Daisy's surprise, Nat advised her to stay away from Rafe.

Back at the Spaulding manse, tensions rose between Harley, Rafe and Alan after Alan praised his grandson for defending him.... Rick and Beth went to Cedars to have Rick's bloody nose examined.... Josh ran into Alan on Main Street and told him there was an important family issue to discuss.

What do the notches in Alan's vintage gun represent?

Olivia paid Buzz a visit at Company, told him about her deal with Alex to expand the Beacon, then inquired if he wanted a piece of the action by including a Company-like restaurant in the chain. He declined the offer, then asked Liv how things were going in her life. As it turns out, Liv had really shown up to see if Buzz had any juicy gossip on Reva and Jeffrey. He was clearly hurt and chided his ex for being cruel and Shady. He felt inclined to warn Reva about Liv's meddling.

On Main Street, a glowingly happy Cassie confessed to Reva that she felt great, thanks to Rick and Beth's impromptu nups the day before. Reva was stunned by the news, while Cassie reveled in the fact that there would be no custody battle after all. Despite Reva's concern about her sis's role in the paternity switcheroo, Cassie seemed quite confident that no one else would ever find out. Having kept the evidence from the switch (the hospital ID badge and the security camera disk), Cassie told Reva she was finally ready to destroy it for good and clear her conscience. It would also mean that Alan and Josh would never find out. Cassie was grateful when Reva agreed to do the dirty work for her.

At the Spaulding manse, Lizzie packed up some of her things. When Lillian asked her if she'd heard from Beth since the barbecue, Liz forced her grandmother to dish. Lizzie was shocked to learn that Beth had tied the knot with Rick, not Alan. Later, Cassie ran into Lizzie on Main Street. Lizzie was clearly peeved by her lack of involvement in her mom's last-minute nups, so Cassie attempted to console her tried to convince her that it was a good thing for her family.

At the police station/courthouse, Rick and Beth officially sealed the deal as they signed a marriage license with Josh as their witness. The newlyweds surprised Josh when they asked him and Cassie to be their daughter's god parents. He wondered if they were simply making the request to rub their happiness in Alan's face; Beth assured him that wasn't the case and claimed she only wanted to make things right. Josh happily agreed.

Back at Company, a depressed Lillian showed up, wanting a drink. She confessed to her old flame Buzz that she missed her life and felt awkward all alone with Alan in the big, cold Spaulding mansion. A lonely Lil asked Buzz out on a date; he agreed.

At the Beacon, Reva clicked her lighter and started burning Cassie's incriminating evidence when Josh suddenly walked in and demanded to know what she was up to. He grabbed the hospital ID badge and Reva spun a story about a one-night stand gone bad, claiming the guy worked at Cedars. When she slipped and said there was something about Josh and Cassie on the DVD, Josh took it and left the room while Reva was forced to deal with Olivia, who had arrived to say she needed to talk. Reva was desperate to get in touch with Cassie to explain the situation, but Olivia refused to leave. Reva screamed that if Olivia was in love with Jeffrey then she needed to do something about it, and then she promptly kicked Liv out of the room. Furious, Olivia phoned Alan, claiming they needed to discuss Reva.

Rick carried Beth over the threshold of their "honeymoon" suite at the Beacon. Beth worried about Lizzie's reaction to the news, while Rick marveled at his turn of good luck. Frank later interrupted their romp to inform Rick that his car had been vandalized.

On their impromptu date, Buzz and Lillian flirted over sandwiches.... Lizzie left Beth a voice message saying she was truly happy for her mom.... Cassie arrived at home to see that Josh had viewed the hospital surveillance tape.

Due to a sudden gas leak, the Springfield PD was forced to evacuate the Bauer residence and the area surrounding it. Everyone around town lamented the cancellation of the annual July 4 barbecue after Frank made an announcement via a televised interview. Rick, however, remained determined to keep the holiday spirit and festivities alive. It was promptly relocated to Main Street at Beth's suggestion.... As Rick, Beth and Leah set up the grill and picnic tables on Main Street before the crowd arrived, Rick thanked Beth for her generosity and encouraged her to just enjoy the day. "Today we have a truce, tomorrow we’ll deal with the custody," he added. Leah, meanwhile, pulled a whiny teen attitude and informed her pop that despite her excitement about the barbecue, she was bummed that Mel wasn't around. Then she admitted that Beth's presence made her uncomfortable, noting that Beth couldn't even make a decent potato salad, anyway.

At the Aitoro/ Cooper household, everyone prepared to leave for the 'cue, but Daisy and Rafe managed to steal a few more kisses in private before they split. Rafe encouraged Daisy to return the money they took from Harley's emergency stash in the vase. She claimed it wasn't a big deal and gave him the dough to replace himself. As he started putting it back, Harley eyed him from afar but didn’t say anything because Gus had interrupted, talking hot dogs and baseball.

Cassie was reluctant to go to the barbecue, claiming she was having a bad day. Sensing her depression, Josh obeyed Cassie's wish and left her home alone while he headed the barbecue with RJ.

On Main Street, passerby Alan pulled Beth aside to remind her of her "duty" to ruin Rick's plan to sue for custody, noting that it was the only chance they had to prove that he was still in love with Beth. Later, everyone gathered on Main Street. "The Bauer barbecue arrives again!" Rick exclaimed as he squeezed Leah and smiled.

Buzz saw Cassie ordering takeout from Company and tried to comfort her after she broke down, thinking about another holiday without Tammy. The pep talk convinced Cassie to attend the party and she greeted Josh with a hug. Beth, meanwhile, told Rick that the baby kicked and they bonded over their unborn child before sitting down together to finally sort things out.

Rafe played foosball back at Company, while Gus tried to cozy up to his son and encourage him to go over to the barbecue, half-joking that crazy things (fights, weddings) tend to happen there so it's always good entertainment. Gus's asked him to participate in the father/son sack race, but Rafe just continued playing after Gus and Daisy left. When Harley had Rafe alone, she confronted him about the stolen cash. Rafe refused to rat Daisy out and yelled at his stepmom for assuming it was his fault (and thinking he was nothing but a "ghetto thug"). Alan broke up the fight, calling Harley out on wanting to put Gus's delinquent son in his place.

Back at the barbecue, Josh was amused by the looks he received from everyone after drinking a beer, noting how the perception of him had changed since he started divinity school. Rick admitted to Josh that he trusted Beth with all of his heart and he’d do anything to not lose his little girl. Meanwhile, Cassie spied on Alan talking to a random lawyer about his plan to publicly bring Rick down (via his declaration of love for Beth) in effort to throw out the weak custody suit. When Cassie confronted Alan and revealed that she was telling-all, he warned her that if she created yet another public spectacle, people would think she was crazy; Cassie held her tongue.

Rafe went back to the house, where Daisy tried to console him. Gus and Harley bickered at Company after realizing both teens had disappeared. Gus was too preoccupied with the upcoming sack race to stop and listen to Harley's concerns about Rafe's honesty. After trying to figure out what prompted Rafe to flee, Daisy pulled her crush in for a kiss, which turned into a full-on make out session on the couch. When Harley suddenly walked in, she was livid at the sight of the teens smooching and angrily pulled Rafe off of her daughter. Thinking Rafe had attacked Daisy, Harley asked if she was okay. Rafe ran out and Daisy confessed that she was in love with Rafe, adding that the boy was the only thing in her life that made sense; Harley was shocked, called Rafe a thief and forbid Daisy from being with him. "You can't stop me," Daisy countered, then stormed out.

As Alan watched from afar, Rick pulled Beth aside and admitted that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. She surprisingly echoed his sentiment, adding that she finally felt like she belonged. Alan stormed over, demanding to know what Beth was doing, since she was clearly sabotaging their plan. Beth confessed that she wanted to be proud of who she was and being a Spaulding made her lose sight of that for far too long. Much to everyone's surprise, Beth told Rick that she wanted to get married right away. When they realized they couldn’t get a judge, Cassie encouraged Josh to perform the ceremony (despite the fact that he wasn't even ordained). Lillian found some flowers for a bouquet and the impromptu nups began. Everyone cheered and teared up as the duo exchanged their vows. Everyone then watched fireworks.

After the "wedding," Cassie rubbed salt in Alan’s wounds by having his car towed, noting it really must be Independence Day especially now that Beth had won hers over Spaulding (snap!). Later, Rafe ran into Alan, who was bummed about his car. Rafe agreed to give his granddad a lift.

Ashlee played fetch with Moxie on Main Street. When a couple passed by holding hands, she reminded herself (and Moxie) that Coop is with Ava now. Then she got a call from Company, joked that her new found freedom has already vanished and headed back to work.

At the Aitoro/Cooper digs, everyone was in a rush to go to a party. Rafe and Daisy secretly made out in the stairwell while Gus and Harley impatiently waited for them outside. Daisy admitted she liked the "forbidden love" routine, then snagged some cash from Harley's secret stash in a vase before Gus came in to move the teens along. They blamed their tardiness on a battle for the bathroom.

Outside of Company, Alan informed a very surprised Beth that he'd decided they were getting married tomorrow, on the day of the Bauer barbecue. Then Coop appeared and quickly ushered them inside. When Ashlee showed up, she was surprised to see that everyone had gathered for a welcome home party in her honor. She graciously thanked Coop for supporting her through everything and gave him a big hug. Daisy couldn't believe Coop would throw Ashlee a party and excitedly told her former roomie that it must mean he likes her. Ashlee laughed at the idea, having seen her crush with Ava earlier in the day. Reluctant about Alan's impromptu wedding plans, Beth decided to ditch the party; Alan called her out on going to see Rick.

At Cedars, Mel asked Rick if he was prepared for the big barbecue festivities. He admitted that it wouldn't be the same without her there. When Beth arrived, she was greeted by Mel, who chastised her for putting Rick through hell. The women bickered about the custody battle when Rick walked in. Much to his surprise, Beth pulled a fast one and announced to Mel that she was hosting the barbecue with Rick this year. He was clearly confused but didn't tell Mel otherwise. Beth, meanwhile, said she'd called a truce and excitedly made arrangements for the event.

Gus became worried after noticing that Rafe had left Ashlee's party unannounced, so Harley gave her hubby a dose of his own medicine and encouraged him to not smother his kid. Gus left to find his son, anyway.

On Main Street, Billy looked over Dylan's blueprints for his dream house and wondered if his son was trying to break up Gus and Harley for the sake of his own happiness. When Harley showed up looking for Rafe, Billy split so the exes could talk. Dylan asked if Harley's place was big enough for two troublesome teens; she claimed to have everything under control. He later offered to give Harley a ride home and began to tell her that things could be different between them, but she was too preoccupied with an incoming call from Gus. She gave Dylan a friendly peck on the cheek, told him things would be find, then left.

Natalia prepared for her big date with Remy, taking one long last look at a framed photo of Gus and Rafe before tossing it in her bottom drawer. Rafe, meanwhile, had ventured back to his mom's house to check up on her. Stunned by her skimpy outfit and her pending date with "loser" Remy, Rafe stormed out of the room. After Gus arrived, searching for Rafe, he quickly echoed his son's snap judgment about Nat's date. When Nat reminded him that he had no say in her life, Gus countered that being Rafe's dad was reason enough to care. When Remy pick up Nat, he was surprised to find her alone with Gus. Nat left, telling Gus to lock up when he was ready to leave.

Back at the party, Daisy made a crack about her granddad. Ashlee told her to stop her "Alan hatin'" before being whisked away by Doris, who finally made an appearance (with a cheeky "Howl for Wolfe" mayoral election pin). Upset by her mom's politicking, Ashlee yelled at Doris for not making an effort to get her out of juvie. Ashlee then made a toast to her biggest supporters, Alan and Coop. Doris, meanwhile, managed to find Alan alone and questioned who they were going to face-off against next: Reva? Beth? After Alan informed her that he was happy with Beth, Doris quipped that Beth would never be "one of us." Later, Ashlee eyed Coop alone outside and with Daisy's urging, prepared to finally confront him about her feelings. When she overheard him making dinner plans with Ava, however, she ran away in embarrassment.

At the Spaulding manse, Alan suggested to Beth they tie the knot at their house. She said it was a wonderful idea, but failed to inform Alan that she'd volunteered to host the barbecue with Rick. Continuing his twisted plot to get custody of the baby, Alan said the barbecue would be the perfect time and place for Rick to publicly declare his love for Beth. She wasn't so sure, but couldn't convince Spaulding otherwise.

Fresh off their date, Remy gave Nat a good-night kiss, which turned into a drunken make out session on the couch. Nat quickly stopped the smooching, using Rafe as an excuse. After Remy left, she told Gus to reveal himself. He'd been hiding out on the fire escape, claiming to have stuck around to finish up some handy work. Nat knew better and kicked him out.

Back at the Aitoro/Cooper house, Harley discovered her baby-sitter money was missing and immediately blamed Rafe, who casually asked Daisy about Alan's money while the duo headed to the movies.

A love-struck Ashlee fantasized about Coop springing her from juvie, dancing with her at Company and pouring a celebratory glass of champagne for her as they fell into a passionate kiss. Her steamy daydream was interrupted, however, when a guard informed her that Alan had come to visit. Alan explained that he was there to set her free. Elated, Ashlee gave Spaulding an awkward embrace.

At the Spaulding manse, Ava warned Coop that perhaps he should "back off" helping Ashlee get out of juvie. Noting that while Ash is sweet and deserves a second chance, she'll be heartbroken when Coop doesn't turn out to be the knight in shining armor she expects.

At Cedars, Mallet continued his vigil at Dinah's bedside when her eyes fluttered open and she whispered his name. After the doctor came in to check her vitals, he reminded an anxious Mallet that it was still too soon to tell if Dinah will return to her normal self. Unable to remember how she ended up in the hospital, Dinah asked Mallet to tell her everything. Mallet explained that Griggs was finally out of their lives forever, thanks to Cyrus who had arranged for Griggs to be greeted by authorities upon arriving in Austria.

Marina and Cyrus couldn't keep their hands off each other as they rushed into her room at the Beacon, kissing and tearing their clothes off. "Don't protect me, just be with me," Marina murmured as Cyrus threw her onto the bed. When Frank interrupted the rendezvous, he threatened to suspend his daughter from the force if she doesn't stay away from Cyrus. Annoyed by Frank's meddling, Marina sicced a security guard on her pop, who continued to berate her for getting involved with a criminal. Before he was dragged away, Frank told them that Dinah was awake. Marina suggested they pay Dinah a visit, then went into the bathroom. Cyrus, meanwhile, made a mysterious call requesting a meeting.

On Main Street, Matt informed Vanessa that Dinah was awake so the duo made a beeline to the hospital where Dinah remained confused, especially after Mallet told her that he had signed her living will. He begged his wife to forgive him for losing hope. When Dinah later asked about her dad, Vanessa had to remind her daughter that Ross is dead; Dinah claimed she remembered.

Daisy and Rafe faked at fight at the Cooper/Aitoro household, then sneaked a kiss when they caught a moment alone. Rafe reminded Daisy that he'd get kicked out of the house if they were ever caught to which Daisy replied, "Well, let's not get caught!" before giving her crush another buss. When Coop showed up saying he was there to check up on her post-juvie status, Daisy feigned disgust at Rafe's lack of bathroom cleanliness. After Coop fished around for details about Ashlee, Daisy happily spilled that her old roomie is in love with him. Coop was stunned.

Cyrus caught up with Frank at CO2 and sat down in attempt to make a peace offering. After admitting that he truly cares about Marina, Cyrus called Frank out on blaming him for Frank's own guilt about shooting Marina. Cyrus plead his case, adding that he's a decent guy who has a good job and isn't planning to hurt Marina. "Isn't that all a father can ask for?" he questioned. "It's a start," Frank deadpanned, unconvinced.

Finally back in her street clothes, Ashlee prepared to leave juvie for good. After agreeing to let Alan drive her home, Ashlee offered him some unsolicited advice, reminding him that he could still find happiness in his life. Alan unemotionally called her: "the most positive person I know," before ushering her out the door. Then she thanked him one more time for securing her freedom.

Back at the Cooper/Aitoro household, Alan tried to impress both Daisy and Rafe by informing them that he'd helped spring Ashlee from juvie. Thinking he had left, the teens canoodled unaware that Alan was watching them from behind. Ashlee, meanwhile, went to find Coop at Company, but was disheartened when she eyed Ava giving him a back rub, so she didn't stop in. She was, however, delighted to see her beloved dog Moxie for the first time in months. Unaware that Ashlee was sitting outside, Coop got distracted from Ava when he heard a noise.
