GL Recaps Week of July 9, 2007Friday, July 13, 2007 Earlier, Harley showed up at Dylan's to announce she was taking her daughter home. She argued Daisy needed her mother, "and I need her." As Daisy walked in on the declaration, she assured Harley she "wouldn't even look at Rafe" if both teens wound up back under the same roof. Harley then went to the hospital to tell Gus about her decision, but he angrily demanded: "Oh, I get it. You're picking your daughter over my son." Natalia broke up their spat and insisted she be included in talks about the kids' living situation. The adults couldn't agree on what would work, but in private, Gus assured Natalia he was taking Gus back in his house. Back at her own apartment, a frustrated Natalia started packing and told Remy, who stopped by, she'd had enough and that she and Rafe would move back to Chicago. Remy agreed, surprising her. "You and Rafe would be better someplace else," he said. But when Gus showed up, he angrily stopped the packing and told Natalia their son was going to live with him. Meanwhile, at Harley and Gus's house, Alan showed up suggesting a "solution" to the dilemma: "I think Daisy should come and live with you here and my grandson Rafael should come and live with me." When a sarcastic Harley asked him why she should agree, Alan declared: "Because you want to save your marriage." Elsewhere, Cyrus tried to threaten Terri off her blackmail demand, telling her he'd rat her out to her INS boss. But Terri stood firm, demanding he come up with $100,000 that day or she'd begin deportation. "See you soon, or pack your bags," she warned. Spying the pair's discussion, a fuming Marina tried to convince Remy to flirt with her to make Cyrus jealous. Remy refused and Cyrus stepped in, telling Marina she wasn't "fooling anybody." The pair kissed and Cyrus promised they'd get together as soon as he took care of some business. When Marina pressed him for details, he declined. "You have to trust that I'm thinking of us," he told her. Meanwhile, he'd already made a call to gauge interest in pawning some jewelry to come up with the bribe money.
At the Spaulding house, Alexandra told Alan she wanted Cyrus to move out of the servant's quarters and into the main house. She explained she was tired of being alone and that there was something "very warm" about Cyrus.
Later, Alex walked in on Cyrus just seconds after he broke into her wall safe and was fingering some dazzling pearls. "Those were always my favorite, too," she cynically noted, startling Cyrus.
Thursday, July 12, 2007 Elsewhere, Olivia ran into the rattled Jeffrey and apologized to him for freaking out and tossing cake at him after she discovered he and Reva together. Jeffrey brushed off the confrontation but Olivia insisted on explaining, saying Billy told her Reva was only trying to get a rise out of Olivia. "I find it a little hard to trust you," Jeffrey admitted to Olivia. But then he confessed that he had slept with Reva. Later, an angry Olivia tried to get Josh to help her keep Reva and Jeffrey apart, even as casual lovers Jeffrey and Reva again met to get drunk and make out. Dinah continued to struggle with her traumatic brain injury, using notes to remember even the smallest things: how to turn off the alarm clock, open a door, button her shirt. Mallet, however, remained clueless about her difficulties. On Main Street, Mallet asked Frank for more time off, then declared that he wanted to resign. "I want to be with Dinah," he said. Later, Mallet brought Dinah to Company for a welcome-home party. There, Dinah seemed like a deer caught in the headlights as her friends crowded around her to welcome her back. Only Matt looked like he understood her pain, and in private, told her she should let Mallet know about her troubling condition. Instead, she snuck out of the party. When Mallet found her and noticed her confusion, she didn't reveal what was the matter. Before Dinah's welcome-home party started, Marina rounded up Cyrus to help set things up and flirt. Terri showed up and Cyrus bolted outside to talk with the INS officer, leaving Marina annoyed. Cyrus suggested an "amicable" way to settle his immigration issues, but Terri declared he'd better come up with "cold, hard cash," and suggested Cyrus hit up his rich boss, Alex. Later on, Alex demanded Cyrus drive her home from Dinah's party and Cyrus began thinking about stealing her pearls. Alex then asked him to stick around and keep her company.
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 At Natalia's, Gus told her to stay there in case the kids came back. Remy showed up, and Gus was clearly annoyed. The two men left together and immediately ran into "Jimbo," who demanded money Remy owed him. Gus jumped in with a phony alibi and promised he'd get the man his money. Afterward, Remy thanked Gus but also taunted him about his apparent jealousy of Remy and Natalia, who were supposed to go out on a date that night. During their hunt, Harley and Dylan began remembering their teen love. Harley reminded him they too were "full of raging hormones and attitudes." When Buzz left the bar to search for the children, Harley and Dylan had a drink and Dylan got a little tipsy. They went out on Main Street hoping to find the kids, but came up empty and headed back to Dylan's, where he, still a little drunk, confessed he still had feelings for Harley. After he lightly kissed her, he seemed sheepish, noting it was because of "a little wine, a whole lot of nostalgia...," but he also said he wasn't sorry for the kiss. "Maybe I never got over Harley Cooper," he said. "And maybe I never will." At Natalia's, a charming Alan showed up and the pair got to know one another a little better. He told her he wanted to meet the mother of his grandson, and she admitted Rafe had taken a liking to Alan. "I find him a very interesting young man," Alan conceded, though his mom added he'd been "infuriating." Alan joked he was an "infuriating old man." The pair left to go to Alan's house to search for the kids, and there, the bonding continued. Alan praised Natalia for her independence and for Rafe's kindness after the disastrous Bauer picnic. "That young man was very kind to me after a very difficult day in my life. He will be rewarded," he promised. Then he noticed the keys to the lake house were gone. At the same moment, Natalia received a call from Daisy, saying something had happened to Rafe. At the lake house, the kids — after hopscotching around town and keeping just one step ahead of the adults — settled into their hiding place and decided to go skinny dipping. But Rafe got a little woozy and fainted, prompting Daisy's call to Natalia. Rafe was rushed to the hospital where he was revived; both Rafe and Daisy reconciled with their respective parents. But during the tender reunion, the couples — Gus with Natalia and Harley with Dylan — seemed uneasy that they'd paired with their former loves. Nearby, Alan took stock of the situation.
Tuesday, July 10, 2007 Olivia made a date with Jeffrey, hinting she wanted to explore a relationship with him and begin to create "new memories." They planned to meet at Jeffrey's place later. While Olivia got ready, Ava stopped by and recounted the "really weird" vibe she picked up at Ashlee's house from her and Coop. Olivia told her daughter about the upcoming date with her father. At Jeffrey's place, Reva showed up ranting about her legal problems, and Jeffrey quickly took up the paperwork and began to sift through it, lost in thought and commenting about the upcoming court battle. "We're going to get our punches in," he said, toasting Reva: "Here's to a woman with fists and a heart big enough to do just about anything." Olivia showed up and exploded. "Are you purposely trying to humiliate me?" she asked, even as Jeffrey tried to explain they were only working on a case. Olivia tossed the dessert at Jeffrey and stomped out. Left alone, Reva playfully teased Jeffrey about the confrontation, telling him they should pretend to be involved because "you'll get some and it'll rattle Olivia." They playfully kissed, but the passion quickly heated up and they made love. "I can see this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship," Reva laughed. Meanwhile, Olivia ran into Billy, who insisted that Reva was just trying to get Olivia's goat, and that she and Jeffrey weren't together. Dinah was released from the hospital but kept trying to hide from Mallet how different she was. She fumbled with a cell phone, and blanked out on Cyrus' name when he and Marina stopped by to see her before her hospital discharge. Once at home, she continued her charade of normalcy for Mallet, telling him she just wanted "to get my life back." But when Matt arrived and Mallet took off, Dinah became overwhelmed, hiding in the bathroom. Some moments later, Matt went after her. "What's wrong?" he asked. "Everything," she confessed. "I want the words to come but they don't come. They just sort of tease me a little." She admitted she didn't know his name at first, or how to dial a cell phone. Matt encouraged her to make a list to help remember things. Mallet returned and Dinah appeared more composed. Cyrus ran into a woman who described herself as from the government citizenship and immigration services. She told him his green card application had come across her desk, and that there were "quite a few problems." Then she abruptly told him that "money fixes everything, preferably lots and lots of it." Cyrus was shocked, and goaded her to admit she was blackmailing him. He snarled that she didn't intimidate him. Later, her broke into the woman's room and began rifling through her files.
Monday, July 9, 2007 Ashlee got a surprise visit from Coop, who invited her out to dinner to talk with her about Alan. She was over the moon about what seemed to her to be a date. Later, as they met for dinner, Coop warned Ashlee she couldn't handle Alan, telling her he'd expect something in return for getting her out of jail. Coop offered to "run interference." Just then, Alan showed up and Coop steered him outside, where he demanded to know what Alan wanted of Ashlee. He then gallantly offered to "pay the price" for her. Meanwhile, Doris arrived at the restaurant, and Ashlee laid into her: "I finally have you off my back!" At the same time, Alan assured Coop he didn't need to protect Ashlee from him, and that he was "betrayed" by Beth and Rick. He fully intended to "cause trouble for someone, but not Ashlee. Inside, Ashlee stomped away from her mom, taunting her: "Why don't you admit you're not a good parent and I can respect you for something." Doris followed but ran into Alan, where she stopped to flirt and offer to help him with his troubles. Alan haughtily resisted and told her he had "another iron in the fire." Coop and Ashlee went back to Ashlee's apartment, where Coop struggled to keep hidden an unexpected surge of passion for Ashlee. He ran into the bathroom to throw cold water on his face, and asked out loud: "Dude, what are you doing? What is going on?" A confused Ashlee popped into the bathroom and asked him what the matter was. Elsewhere, Alan told Josh that he blamed Josh and Cassie for losing Beth to Rick. He insisted Beth's baby should be raised as a Spaulding and during the tirade, Josh flashed back to the revelation that Cassie switched the paternity results that proved Alan actually was the baby's father, not Rick as everyone assumed. Snapped back to reality, he told Alan maybe he could help him after all, but refused to go further after Alan dissed the baby's future as a Bauer as one of "mediocrity." "I could have given that child the world," Alan fumed. Meanwhile, Cassie overheard Rick and Beth lovingly talk about the baby. Beth's apologized to Rick for once intending to use him, but then she finally figured out she couldn't live without him. Cassie followed Beth to Main Street, where Beth thanked her for agreeing to be the baby's godparent along with Josh. Beth then proceeded to apologize to Cassie as well for the "rough" times they had in the past, and for defending Alan after what he did to Cassie. "I'm free of him now," Beth told Cassie, who announced that Beth and Rick together was "the best thing for the baby." But she also cryptically warned Beth of possible future "complications and challenges," and that there might be a "limit to what you can prepare for." Confused, Beth noted that Rick was the baby's father, but Cassie countered that if Alan had something "really awful planned," there could be trouble. "Just stick with Rick," she told Beth. Meeting Rick, Josh asked to talk to him about Beth and the baby, telling him he had news that "somebody has to know." He then dropped the bombshell: Beth's baby is the biological child of Alan. Rick was stunned and angry. Josh insisted he was only telling Rick because he couldn't live with himself if the baby were ever to need medical treatment and the birth records were wrong. "Does it mean anything to you that this destroys my life?" Rick, his eyes filled with tears, asked Josh. Rick asked rhetorically if he was supposed to tell Beth or keep the news to himself, to which Josh replied that it was none of his business. Josh then called Cassie, telling her to meet him. Together, Cassie asked if Josh told Rick that it was she who switched the results. Relieved that he didn't, she then tried to convince Josh that ultimately, what she did was the best thing. Josh disagreed that it was the right thing, and that it was best if Rick kept the secret to himself, but he told Cassie they would work this problem through together. Rick returned home and appeared to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. A glowing Beth, seductively dressed in red satin lingerie, tried to pry out of him what was bothering him. She assured him their being together was the right thing for them and the baby. "We've found this happiness and we're going to hold onto it and I intend to fight for it," she told him, and they fell into a warm embrace. Talking about baby names, they head a knock on the door. It was Alan, who gruffly announced: "Rick, you are this baby's father. And I believe this baby should be raised by its natural parents if at all possible." He left, wishing them a "nice evening," as Rick looked solemn and Beth sighed: "It's a relief." Outside, Alan called Natalia and told her he wanted to meet with her.
