GL Recaps Week of Jan. 16, 2006

Jeffrey offered the ADA his job if she dropped the charges against Tammy, and she agreed, but decided to continue to prosecute Jonathan. Reva pleaded with Jeffrey to have Jonathan released as well. Sandy arrived and Jeffrey escorted him out of the courtroom. The trial resumed and Tammy was called to the stand. She claimed that the fire was an accident, but when the ADA began pressing Tammy to incriminate Jonathan, Jon leapt up and claimed that the fire was entirely his fault. He wanted to testify, despite Mel's objection that it wouldn't be wise. Sandy walked back into the courtroom, announcing that he knew how the fire was started. He took the stand and claimed responsibility for accidentally re-starting the blaze. The charges against Jonathan were dismissed. Though Jeffrey denied Reva's suspicion that he had a role in Sandy's impromptu confession, viewers saw a flashback of Jeffrey counseling Sandy that in order to win Tammy back, he had to be everything that Jonathan isn't. Tammy rushed to Sandy and thanked him for clearing Jonathan. Sandy explained that he did it for her, not for Jonathan. Jonathan thanked Sandy too. The men shook hands, and Sandy whispered in Jonathan's ear, "You owe me."
At CO2, Buzz spilled to Mallet that Dinah and Harley went to Florida to investigate a possible lead on Gus and Alan. Buzz wondered why Mallet wasn't flying off to help the women and wondered if Mallet was trying to keep his distance from Harley. Mallet saw an apparition of Gus who taunted him about his investigative techniques. "Gus" chided Mallet for being "so undercover, I bet you wear SPF on your private parts," and urged that to find Gus, Mallet had to think like Gus. After mulling over theories about what happened the night of the accident, Mallet came to the conclusion that perhaps the apparition was a ghost — and Gus was dead. Meanwhile, Harley brought Dinah to the Florida home that she once shared with Mallet. Dinah noticed that the house had changed little since Mallet and Harley's marriage, but Harley assured her that Mallet was in her past. Gus was her present and her future. Dinah was pleased that Mallet had room in his heart for her, but fretted because Mallet had cheated on his ex. A man named Archie arrived at the home and claimed that he had given Alan money and a place to sleep. He tried to get money from Harley for his "niece's caterer" before leading them to Alan, but when he claimed that Alan was staying in a small, dark shed, Harley realized Archie was conning them. Harley kicked the man out, and Dinah told her friend that she believed Gus was trying to find his way back home. In a mystery room, Alan lay unconscious.
Edmund announced that Jeffrey was responsible for Dinah's release from prison and that Jeffrey impersonated Richard with Dinah all over Europe. Edmund encouraged Cassie and Josh to ask around, then come back and thank him for telling the truth once it was confirmed. Edmund revealed that he still loves Cassie, but he believed Jeffrey deserves her even less than Edmund does: At least with Edmund, what you see is what you get. Cassie asked Josh to leave so that she could speak to Edmund alone. Cassie vowed that there was no chance of her reconciling with Edmund. Then Edmund insinuated that not only had Jeffrey impersonated Richard in public, but in private. Alone. With Cassie. He asked if she ever wondered while with Richard, "Why do his kisses feel so different?" Cassie slapped Edmund, and Josh stormed in with guards. Edmund snarked that Cassie should go home to her "imitation prince." Cassie returned to the farm, and Jeffrey arrived home with flowers to find Cassie sitting with the lights out. Cassie announced that while the lights were out, she wasn't in the dark anymore.

Dinah woke up happily next to Mallet. She finally was able to accept that he liked her, although later, she got a little jealous when she overheard him tell Frank that he quit the force until Gus comes home. She confronted him about possibly still being in love with Harley and going off the force to come out as the hero. He denied this, and they kissed.
Harley, meanwhile, headed back to work, sending Alan-Michael on his way. He had a conversation with someone about giving Marina a false lead. Marina was thrilled to get a call from someone in Florida, who claimed to have seen Alan. She passed the good news onto Harley, who was imagining a conversation with Gus. Harley was all ready to hop in the Spaulding jet, when Dinah learned her plans and offered to go with her. Harley finally agreed, but pointed out that they would be staying at her (and Mallet's) house. Dinah said okay. Back at Company, Marina thanked Alan-Michael for helping out her family, after Harley called to ask him to step back in as CEO.
At court, Mel and ADA Doris Wolfe presented arguments for and against Tammy and Jonathan. The cousins were upset that Wolfe tried to use their blood ties against them. Although it didn't look good, Jeffrey stepped in and offered to give Wolfe his job in return for dropping the charges, but only against Tammy.
Even though her daughter was on trial, Cassie and Josh took off to San Cristobel to find out information about Jeffrey from Edmund. After making several cryptic remarks, Edmund finally got to the point. "Jeffrey O'Neill knew how to be Richard," he claimed, saying that the ruse started out because of security or business, "but it ended up being about you!"

Sadly for your recapper, who is enjoying these Wednesday episodes more each week, a good deal of today's episode was pre-empted by bad weather reports in New York.
A newly single Dinah (she broke up with Mallet over his answering machine last week), ducked behind her Company menu to avoid Mallet. She argued with herself (this episode was all about the Dinah voice-overs) about whether she should talk to Mallet or not. Instead, she decided to follow him through town to see what he was up to. He didn't see her, but called her coincidentally, disregarding her break-up message and insisting on taking her out that evening.
At her room in the Beacon, Dinah got ready for her date, struggling to find the perfect dress. "Picking the right dress is like picking a neurosurgeon, no matter which one you pick, you still could die," she muttered. Blake arrived and after a sweet conversation, helped her stepdaughter get dressed, assuring her that she wasn't the same person she used to be. Dinah was still nervous, and began to list her rules for dating... "Love isn't something you can control," Blake said, "At least not the good kind of love." She made Dinah go downstairs for a drink to calm her down. Dinah still felt uncomfortable, so Olivia and Blake kidnapped Frank and Rick and made them sit in Dinah's hotel room while she tried on dresses. The best moment was when Rick said: "Put the slutty dress back on and say four words: 'I'm a naughty girl.' "
Mallet arrived to pick her up, and was momentarily confused to find four other people in her room. "Am I buying dinner for everybody?" he cracked. The foursome listened at the door while Dinah and Mallet talked in the hallway. Dinah tried to resist the handsome detective, but he kissed her anyway. Later, they had champagne outside. She told him she wanted to start over and take things slow; she was moved when he told her that she was worth waiting for. Of course then Harley called for help with Gus. Dinah accompanied Mallet, but felt left out when he and Harley reminisced about their past. She went to Spaulding Enterprises to do some work, where she ran in Alan-Michael, who she decided she wanted to have a fling with. However, he broke away from her when he saw that her face had broken out in hives. Mallet found her in the office, and after listing all the stuff he likes about her, she opened the door. He laughed a bit, but swept her back to her hotel for an examination by Rick.
Part of Dinah worried that Mallet would break her heart and complicate her life, but instead she let him tuck her into bed and take care of her. She wasn't about to lose her independence, but she was ready to move forward with A.C. Mallet.

Tammy ran into Jeffrey and RJ in town. RJ wanted to know why Tammy and Cassie weren't friends anymore. Tams promised to go home with them and make an effort. At the farmhouse, Jonathan arrived and threatened Cassie with the picture of Jeffrey and Richard. "Back off of me and Tammy," he insisted, "or the music stops for you and Jeffrey." When Tammy arrived, Cassie pretended that she and Jon had come to an understanding, which thrilled Tams. Back in town, Tammy and Jonathan enjoyed some down time before having to go back to Reva's and their separate bedrooms. She thanked him for reaching out to her mom.
At Company, Frank, Buzz and Coop worried about Harley, and wondered if Gus was still alive. When Frank got a call about a robbery, Buzz encouraged him to go investigate, because Olivia had placed the call. Meanwhile, Ava caught Lizzie kissing Quinn outside of Company. When Quinn left, Ava confronted Miss Spaulding. Lizzie knew that Ava was jealous, because she had feelings for Coop. The girls' tense encounter was interrupted by Coop. They claimed they were talking about how great he was. Coop and Ava headed back inside to talk about work, while Sandy ran into Lizzie outside. She asked him about his relationship with Ava, and encouraged him to get back together with Ava, to keep her away from Coop. Later, Coop and Lizzie sat outside and discussed their relationship. She asked if they could last. He said they would. After closing up CO2, Ava pretended to fall into Quinn and introduced herself. Earlier Lizzie had claimed that she used to date Quinn, but when Ava brought that up, Quinn told her they never were together. Sandy headed inside Company and told Buzz it was time for him to stop making mistakes with women. He asked Buzz about his past, but the diner owner insisted that he had had a good romantic run, and that now it was time for someone else to date a lot.
Josh was shocked to return home to a trashed apartment. Olivia asked if he had any enemies, but nothing valuable was missing, except for the file on Jeffrey. She suggested that Cassie did it, which he didn't buy, but then she told him that they should track down the file on their own, without bringing Cassie and Jeffrey into it. Frank arrived to investigate the robbery, but Olivia pulled him outside, telling Josh that "we shouldn't get the police involved until we know what happened." She explained to Frank that Reva trashed the room and asked Frank to keep the situation quiet. He wondered if she and Josh were back together, but she told him that she was still single. Meanwhile, Cassie showed up and admitted that Jonathan was blackmailing her with the file. "I need you to help me take him down," she said. Josh told her that he hadn't read the file, which made them both nervous, because now Jonathan is the only person to know what the file contains.
