Edmund made a surprise visit to Josh and Cassie's, claiming that he needed spiritual guidance. Josh didn't believe Edmund but agreed to humor him. Edmund confessed that he wanted a family of his own, and he didn't believe he could get one without making amends with the family he'd driven away. Josh said Cassie was fine and didn't need anything from him. The two began to argue, and Josh kicked Edmund out.

Soon after, Rick stopped by to talk to Josh about his concerns regarding keeping the truth about the baby from Beth. While they chatted, Edmund crept back into the house and eavesdropped on their conversation, learning Rick's secret. After getting an earful at Josh's, Edmund headed to the hospital where he ran into Beth. Beth was startled to see him, and asked him what he was doing there. Edmund said he needed a check-up, and he then began to ask Beth about the baby and her friendship with Cassie. Beth became emotional and told Edmund that Cassie had been a good friend to her. She credited Cassie with helping her find the strength to leave Alan. Before they could finish their conversation, Rick showed up and told Edmund to stay away from Beth.

On Main Street, RJ was still angry with Will for telling Josh and Cassie that he locked Will in the barn. Will continued to play innocent, and Cassie became annoyed with how she thought RJ was behaving. When Beth showed up to chat with Cassie, she realized she was missing $40. Cassie then noticed the money hanging out of RJ's pocket, and she demanded that RJ apologize. RJ knew that Will had planted the money in his pocket.

Once back at home, RJ and Will continued to fight, and Cassie told Josh that RJ had stolen Beth's money. Josh offered to talk to RJ again, but Cassie worried if it would help. While Will enjoyed Cassie's fresh-backed cookies, Josh suggested that Cassie give RJ some one-on-one time so that he wouldn't continue to feel left out.

Meanwhile, Coop tried to secure another endorsement for Buzz's campaign. While he worked on the deal, Ashlee sent him and his guest a bottle of champagne. When Coop went to thank Ashlee, she apologized for being so hard to reach, and they shared a moment. Soon after, Ashlee invited Doris to meet her at the restaurant. When Doris arrived, she was annoyed when she realized that Coop had just sealed an endorsement deal. When she sat down to talk to Ashlee, she admitted she had a plan up her sleeve to win the election. After meeting with her mother, Ashlee returned to the Beacon, and she told Coop about her mother's pans to fix the election in her favor.

At the police station, Marina cried and screamed as immigration officers came to deport Cyrus. Just before he was taken away, Harley showed up to tell the officers that Cyrus was innocent and that Frank lied about him to get back at Cyrus for dating Marina. Frank was shocked that Harley would go against him. "Whose side are you on?" he demanded. As the officers loosened their grip on Cyrus, Doris walked in after overhearing Harley admit that Frank was breaking the law. Marina thanked Harley for saving Cyrus, and Harley and Cyrus urged Marina to talk to Frank. Once alone, Cyrus told Harley that he'd never be able to repay her for all she'd done. Cyrus wanted to buy Marina a gift, so he convinced Harley to go with him. After picking out the gift, the two went to the restaurant to meet Marina for a champagne toast. Cyrus and Harley toasted to freedom — Cyrus' freedom from jail and Harley's freedom from a failing marriage.

Back at Josh and Cassie's, Edmund let himself into the barn and wondered out loud about Cassie and Josh's selective integrity. Will overheard him talking and said he thought Edmund was mad at Cassie and Josh. Edmund denied his anger towards Cassie and told Will that, unlike Josh, he would never try to come between him and Cassie. "Wouldn't it be so much better if he just weren't in the way?" Edmund asked as he pulled Will closer.
