GL WEEK OF FEBRUARY 16, 2009 RECAPS

Week of Monday, February 16, 2009

Friday, February 20, 2009

It's the day of Coop's funeral. At Company, Marina wondered if Buzz would flee before the ceremony. Frank explained that Lucy and Rocky won't be coming. Meanwhile, Mallet called a new adoption agency and fished around for an update on his and Marina's new application. Meanwhile, Reva was emotional as she prepared for her final chemo treatment and worried about the cancer returning if she stopped the treatments; Jeffrey assured her she'll be fine. They agreed to stop by to see Buzz on their way.

At the Spaulding manse, Alan advised Lizzie against going to Coop's memorial and asked her accompany him to visit Phillip in jail instead. Lizzie refused, saying she's not ready to see her dad and owes it to the Cooper family to be there at the funeral. Meanwhile, a police officer at the jail called Phillip a hero for rescuing Coop.

Lillian stopped by the boardinghouse to look for Buzz and found Beth weeping in Coop's bedroom. Meanwhile, Buzz arrived at Coop's classroom. Maureen and Clarissa entered and told Buzz they're sorry, adding that they were given an assignment to write an essay about what the loved most about their teacher, Coop, and promised to show Buzz theirs when they're finished. Buzz was touched. Maureen gave him a hug and the girls departed.

Ashlee and Daisy went to the mini-mart before the funeral to grab a box of Kleenex. Ash fought tears as she talked about Coop being her first love and how much she cares for the Cooper clan. When Grady unexpectedly arrived wearing a suit, Daisy seemed on edge and afraid of what would happen if he showed up to the ceremony.

At Company, Frank approached Beth, expressing his concern that Alan might try to take the Company lease away. She promised to be on the Cooper side if Alan tries to mess with them. Meanwhile, outside, Lillian comforted a heartbroken Buzz. He admitted he's not sure if he'll be able to get over his loss. She told him it would be okay and everyone gathered inside Company, giving Buzz their condolences, before heading to the funeral home. Lizzie also arrived. Beth was surprised, but said she's glad her daughter decided to come.

Josh greeted Jeffrey and Reva at the funeral home. Reva acknowledged that attending your child's funeral is a parent's worst nightmare and said she couldn't help but to think about her own kids. Josh concurred; Jeffrey pointed out that Coop was a great kid and he'd be proud if their son turned out just like him. An emotional Buzz paused before entering the building. Frank and Marina consoled him. Frank thanked a tearful Blake for coming. Daisy expressed her concerns to Grady and regretfully asked him not to enter. He was miffed and assured her he wouldn't make a scene. Daisy wasn't so sure and pointed out how many other death's have occurred recently and she just doesn't want to upset anyone. Grady pointed out that Daisy's choosing her family over him and walked away.

Meanwhile, Alan paid Phil a visit in jail, saying he's hired his son a lawyer so he can be freed and they can start their healing process. Phil pointed out that he's had several visitors while in the slammer, then noted, "It seems like the whole town is in need of healing these days," and mentioned Coop's burial. When Alan assured Phil that he isn't responsible for Coop's death, Phil asked why then his father hasn't patched things up with Buzz. Alan praised Phillip for selflessly pulling Coop from the wreckage of the car, then Spaulding lost his temper — adding that Coop made a mockery out of him — and is angry that everyone is elegizing him as a saint right now. Phil remained distant and seemed frustrated by Alan's behavior.

Everyone gathered at the funeral home and Josh began the ceremony. Beth stood up to talk and broke down as she briefly expressed her love for Coop and how he changed her life forever. As Frank got up to speak, Mallet stepped outside to take a call from the adoption agency. He was overcome with emotion when they informed him that he and Marina were not considered good parents for the adoption. Back at the ceremony, Ashlee got up to say something about Coop, mentioning how he became her hero when he spent her 18th birthday with him. Finally, Buzz rose to say a few words about his son. "He's gone and there's nothing more to say," he wept. After, Lizzie volunteered to say a few more words; Beth was visibly unnerved. Lizzie said Coop was good to her and tried too hard to protect his loved ones. She then apologized and pointed out that it does appear as if the Spauldings are to blame. She was interrupted by Alan who unexpectedly arrived, saying his family has nothing to be sorry about and the people who are to blame are in the room, not the Spauldings. Lizzie as mortified; Buzz was outraged. Frank demanded Alan leave, but he refused. Spaulding railed at Coop for causing his own demise. Buzz attacked him. A newly released Phillip, with a police escort, watched the confrontation unnoticed.

Phillip met with his lawyer and said he's ready to cooperate with the D.A., but he wants one favor in return.... Jeffrey and Reva went to her final chemo treatment.

What did Reva blame her flighty behavior on?
