After Alan's unexpected outburst at Coop's funeral, Phillip (who'd arrived with a police escort) grabbed a weapon from one of the officers and fired the gun into the air. Everyone freaked out, thinking Phil was trying to kill someone. Mallet and Frank rushed to control Phil and wrested the gun away. They led him outside where Marina blasted him for ruining Coop's funeral; Buzz asked Frank to let Phil say what he came to say.

Meanwhile, Liv confided in Nat that she would've shot Phillip if she'd gotten the gun out of his hands. Later, Phil returned to the ceremony and apologized for his erratic behavior, explaining that he really just wanted to get everyone's attention. He halted Alan's angry tirade and implored the warring families to stop fighting. Then he said a few nice words about Coop and called his death a tragedy, adding that no one should ever have to bury a child. Phil then addressed Buzz and Alan, saying he refuses to help either man get back at one another and urged them to stop their destructive behavior, forgive and open their hearts to each other. Everyone had trouble believing Phil's plea. Buzz, especially, was miffed by the solidarity speech and continued to blame Alan.

Phillip found Lizzie in the basement of the funeral home and finally revealed that she's the reason why he returned to Springfield. She continued to bristle at his attempts to reach out to her, but was touched when he said that he doesn't want what happened to him (a mental breakdown, that is) to happen to her. Meanwhile, back upstairs, Alan plead with Buzz to take Phil's words to heart and let bygones be bygones. Before he departed, Alan offered Buzz ownership of Company again. Buzz, however, was wary and assumed Spaulding was just trying to pull a publicity stunt. Alan was insistent that he was really trying to do a good deed. Buzz refused to take back Company.

Nat tried to comfort Olivia, who was still freaking out over Phillip's return and what he might do if he hears the rumor that the women are lesbians. Nat promised Liv that she'll talk to Phil and show him that there's nothing between them; Liv said it was a bad idea and told Nat that it's not her battle to fight.
B Frank and Mallet went inside to find Phil and arrested him again when they saw him talking to Lizzie. Meanwhile, the Coopers went back to Company, where Buzz lost his temper and almost passed out while angrily yelling about Alan. Then he started to pack things up in boxes and demanded that everyone help him. Frank urged him against leaving Company. Buzz gave Beth the cold shoulder when she tried to say she misses Coop. When Daisy arrived, Ashlee admitted that she has a crush on Grady; Daisy was stunned. Ash recognized that it's a terrible time to admit the truth, but she's afraid of losing her best friend if she isn't honest about it. Upset, Daisy told Ashlee that she and Grady need to move out of her apartment.

Alan returned to the mansion, where a depressed Lizzie was hanging out on the couch. Spaulding explained that he tried to return Company to Buzz and expressed his disgust at not being appreciated for his random act of kindness. "I can't deal with this right now," Lizzie said. "Everything's going to be all right," Alan assured her.

Natalia arrived at Company to see Frank, who told her that Buzz is leaving the restaurant. She tried to comfort him and offered her assistance in any way possible. With boxes in tow, the Cooper clan said a tearful good-bye to Company and walked out.... Olivia finally worked up the courage to face Phillip and demanded to know why he returned to town.
