At Company, Olivia sought Doris's advice about her situation with Natalia and Rafe. Doris surmised that Liv is afraid that if their relationship doesn't get back on track fast, it never will. Meanwhile, Natalia found Rafe visiting Gus's grave. She was stunned to learn that her son is interested in applying for a job at the Springfield PD. She was pleased that Rafe is eager to put his past mistakes behind him.

At the mansion, Beth continued to discourage Phillip from turning himself into the SEC, but he said a call to the authorities had already been made. Meanwhile, Daisy confronted James about stopping by her house, adding that the last time they ran into each other, Phil advised her to stay away. James explained that Phil is making his Ponzi scheme disappear and that he's taking his pop's advice to "start a new life" by starting a new fund. So, he asked Daisy to make him a new fake ID. Daisy was shocked when James said his dad was going to jail for him. She agreed to help him out and be his new partner in crime. After she picked out a new ID for James, Daisy told Ashlee she has a new crush named Steven. Later, James called Daisy and told her to meet him at the Beacon for a meeting with their new potential investor.

Later, Nat accompanied Rafe to his job interview at the PD. Nat was surprised when Liv showed up and told her the good news about Rafe's aspirations. Liv agreed to give Nat some alone time with her son and offered to write him a recommendation if needed. She asked Nat to call her when she's ready and departed. Later, Rafe told Frank he's there to apply for a job. Frank reluctantly informed him (while Nat stayed in the waiting area) that he can't be a cop because he just got out of prison and has a criminal record. After, Rafe covered about the disappointing news to his mom. Liv told Nat she'd help Rafe and asked her to send him over; Nat was grateful. When Liv offered Rafe a job in the Beacon kitchen, he was offended and angrily told her the truth about his botched attempt to be a cop. She encouraged him to tell his mom the truth; he basically told her to mind her own business.

At Towers, Alan bristled when Billy suggested that they start hanging out more and pointed out that they're going to be related soon. Alan groused about how much Lizzie has changed because of her relationship with Bill; Billy advised Spaulding to try and be happy for the duo. Then Vanessa entered and urged Alan not to screw things up. "You're happy because you've won!" Alan spat. Meanwhile, Phillip found Bill and Lizzie making out in the garden and said he wants to celebrate their family's happiness while they still can and throw the couple an engagement party. Phil got a call from Alan, saying they need to talk. After, Beth offered to help with the party planning. Bill pointed out that even James seems to be happier these days. Lizzie seemed pleased that no one in her family was, for once, messing up her happiness.

Lizzie and Bill met with Billy and Vanessa to discuss wedding plans. Billy suggested they have an Oklahoma-themed wedding. Lizzie told them about Phil's engagement party. Vanessa and Billy were surprised by Phil's support and pointed out how much her family loves her. "I know, and that's usually what gets us into trouble!" she laughed. Lizzie said she wants Maureen to be one of her bridesmaids. Billy hugged Lizzie and said she's already one of the family. Meanwhile, at the mansion, Alan advised Phil to pay more attention to James, adding that he is the future of the Spaulding family, not Lizzie. Phil advised Alan to loosen up and said the Bill/Lizzie situation is turning into a repeat of when he and Beth were set to marry years ago. Alan again brought up James being the "heir apparent" to the Spaulding "throne." Phil laughed and pointed out that he and Alan do agree on certain things.

Phillip stopped by the Beacon; James covered about why he was all dressed up. Later, Daisy and James met with an investor. Daisy was impressed by James's business savvy and the duo made a deal with the guy just as Phillip entered and busted them.... Natalia paid Alan a visit and asked him to take it easy on Rafe; Alan explained he has other familial obligations so she shouldn't worry.
